“Macy was absolutely fantastic with our french bulldog, Bella, while we were away on holiday for six nights. From the moment Bella stayed with her, it was clear how much love, care and attention Macy puts into looking after dogs, and we were so grateful for how warmly she welcomed Bella into her day-to-day family life rather than just “watching” her. She spent time playing with Bella, made sure she felt included and comfortable, and it was obvious that Bella was being treated like one of the family. We also really appreciated the daily updates, which gave us real peace of mind while we were away and showed just how happy and settled Bella was. Macy is kind, caring, thoughtful and clearly loves dogs, and we would not hesitate for a second to recommend her to anyone looking for a genuinely wonderful dog sitter. Thank you Macy for doing such a good job x”

“Fraser and his wife were absolutely lovely and Magnus liked them from the first meeting. We felt confident we were leaving our beloved boy in good hands. We got multiple photo updates and Magnus seemed to be having a great time. When we picked him up we heard even more good stories about their time together. You couldn't find a nicer couple to entrust your dog or cat to.”

“Robert has just had by beagle Bart for a long weekend. Not sure he really wanted to come home when I got there. Great service and a lovely family atmosphere. I’ve already booked again for August. Thank you for taking good care of me boy 🐶”

“Magnus had a fantastic time staying with Annalie - we got frequent photo updates showing a very happy Staffy snuggled on the couch, playing, basking in the garden, and going on walks. Magnus would definitely stay with them again!”

“Arlo had another great stay with Victoria, his second stay with her and her lovely family. Victoria sent lots of updates and photos of his stay, of their trips to the park, him having fun with her little dog Clara and her son. We are so glad we found Victoria so we know when we go away we have someone we trust to look after him so we can relax knowing he is in safe hands. Cannot recommend enough, thank you so much!!”

“We were so pleased to find Zak, and him and Theo really seemed to get on right from the initial meeting. The consistent photos and messages we received from Zak while we were away really put us at ease, knowing that Theo was enjoying himself - spending most of his time snoozing from the sounds of it! We'll definitely be booking Theo in to stay with Zak again soon :)”

“Bailey was well looked after and he got on well with her lovely dogs and had fun playing and wearing each other out! I had regular updates and photos from Holly and I felt assured he was well cared for and that I didn’t need to worry. Highly recommended. Thank you H&J”

“What can I say…. Me & Maisie had such a great experience with Edita, great communication & very helpful. She looked after Maisie as if she was her own & it put my mind at ease. Took lovely photos of her stay. I’d recommend her & would certainly leave Maisie with her again in a heartbeat. I can’t thank her enough!”

“Andre has been absolutely amazing and so accommodating. Doug clearly had a fantastic time on his holiday and enjoyed playing with the other guests. Can't thank Andre enough who helped us out having been let down by someone else!”

“We couldn't be happier with the care our dog, Bramble, received while we were away on holiday! From the moment I dropped her off, I felt completely at ease knowing she was in such capable and loving hands and that she’d have a playmate, gorgeous Buddy to hang out with too!! It was clear right away that Jo truly cares about the animals she looks after. Bramble was given plenty of attention, walks, playtime, and cuddles. We received updates on how she was doing with photos, which really put our minds at ease and let us enjoy our trip without any worry. When we returned, Bramble was relaxed and happy. It honestly felt more like she had a little holiday of her own! Would 100% recommend Jo to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter, and will definitely be booking again in the future. Thank you so much 😊”

“Chloe was fantastic!! I had such troubles getting down to Bridgwater but she was so flexible and really helped me out in dropping my pooch off. She was so good with communication and I felt very confident leaving him with her, and would happily use her again for dog sitting!”

“Laura and Fraser were fantastic with Rufus. We met them before Rufus stayed at theirs, and we could see straight away how comfortable and confident they were with him. Communication was regular and informative and gave us great peace of mind during his stay. Have already booked his next 'holiday'! Highly recommended.”

“Catherine is fabulous! I couldn't recommend her enough. She kept me frequently updated with pictures throughout the day and made my pooch feel welcomed and at home. Someone you can absolutely rely on to care for your animal :) thank you x”

I have upskilled my experience recently with an up to date hands on Dog First Aid Course and Diplomas in Pet Sitting and Dog Walking, Animal Psychology, Introduction to Animal Care Certificate and Introduction to Kennel Management Certification. “Very caring towards my senior dog. Excellent communication whilst on walks and sleeps. They really took extra care as Picasso has his additional needs and I am very grateful. Thank you I would highly recommend”

“This was a new boarder for my boy who is a particular little thing and has separation anxiety and I can’t even rate Natalie and her family enough for their care for Frank. I genuinely couldn’t of looked after him better myself. Lots of gorgeous photos. Which always are more than appreciated when I’m away from him.”

About: I’ve been caring for dogs since I was about 10 years old and have always had a genuine love for animals. Over the years I’ve looked after dogs for family, friends, and neighbours, and I also volunteered at a local animal shelter where I gained hands-on experience working with dogs of different sizes, breeds, and temperaments. I’m comfortable with daily walks, feeding routines, playtime, and basic grooming such as bathing and brushing. I understand how important it is for pets to feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while their owners are away, so I always aim to give them plenty of attention, patience, and affection. I’m reliable, responsible, and happy to follow any specific routines or instructions your dog is used to. Whether it’s a long walk, keeping them company during the day, or helping them burn off some energy, I’ll make sure they’re well looked after and happy. I work from home a lot and have a lot of weekends spare so have plenty of time to give attention to dogs! I have lots of patience and years of experience with family dogs! I have a fully fenced garden and live on a quiet estate, which provides a safe and calm environment for dogs. Your dog will have plenty of secure space to play, explore, and relax without any safety concerns. I always make sure pets are supervised and comfortable so owners can feel confident their dogs are in a safe and caring environment.
“Very happy with the care that Maisy received from Sarah and Richard, I had almost daily pics and messages too just to let me know she was doing well. Very accommodating as Maisy comes with a few additional 'needs', but ultimately what I'd expect from them too as they're genuinely nice people and want what's best for a dog. Definitely hope they'll be available to look after her again in the future, and thoroughly recommend their services.”

I'm so pleased I choose Sharon to look after Molly for 3 nights. She kept me updated with pictures which was really nice . It was our first time leaving our dog with strangers, so the updates really helped :) I wouldn't hesitate to book her again in the future, she really loves dogs.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
