“Your dog always let's you know whether they are happy in their new environment. Betty was very happy with Sarah and her family so much so she wants to stay again very soon.”

About: My partner and I have had pets for our whole lives. I have mainly had experience with smaller dogs and cats that crave the attention and love I provide, whereas my partner has experience looking after larger dogs such as staffs, huskies, and german shepherds. We both adore animals and have passion for pets that we rarely get to indulge in. We can't wait to take care of your pet in our home and treat them like our own. We usually wake up around 6am and go to the gym to be back in the house by 8:30. My partner works from home 9-5 whereas I am currently unemployed and have free time all day to look after your pet. If I do for some reason need to leave the house, it will not be for much longer than 2 hours, so your pet will always have someone close by. If morning pick up or drop off is needed, I am very flexible and will move my schedule around to fit your needs. I have an unfenced garden but have anchor points if your pet would like to go in the garden on a lead. I have a little Jack Russel terrier who is calm with any dogs in his presence once he has had a feel for their vibe. We don't have a crate, but we do have the space for one if you would like to bring your own, and we have a bath in which I can bathe your pet and trim or file their nails if you would like (this will cost extra).
“We decided to book Ewa's home boarding services quite last minute when our original plans fell through. We were quite apprehensive at first, as we were worried our 1 year old schnauzer would be too much to handle and wouldn't settle with Ewa and Patrick's dog JJ. The whole time we were away on holiday Ewa kept us updated on Cole with lots of pictures, videos and messages on what he was up to and how he was during the day. The frequency of communication between us really put us at ease as we hadn't done anything like this before. We were really pleased to know that our dog Cole was so well behaved and seemed to have a lovely time on his own little holiday. I would definitely recommend Ewa's services to anyone, she is very professional and a lovely person who you'd be happy to leave your pets with. I would book Ewa's services again anytime in the future if her and Patrick are avaliable. Thank you for everything!”

About: Hi, I’m Jeff - I’m recently retired and keen to fill my spare time doing something I genuinely love: caring for dogs. Over the years I’ve had plenty of hands-on experience with family pets of all shapes and sizes, from small to medium and large dog breeds. I have looked after family and friends dogs, walking and sitting. I’m comfortable handling different temperaments, energy levels and confident walking dogs on and off lead (always depending on your dogs recall ability and your preferences.) My wife and I are both passionate about all dogs and treat them like family. Our home is located in the west end of Barry and we have a secure rear garden for safe playtime. We are also lucky to live within close walking distance of a country park, other parks and gardens, sea and beaches, the perfect environment for stimulation and enjoyable walks for your precious pets. I drive which allows me be able to take your dogs to other great walking spots. - if you prefer I am also happy to collect your pet. Having recently lost our beloved and special boy Max, I’m looking forward to spending time with dogs again and giving them the care, love, attention and exercise they deserve. I also have experience in administering medication and always happy to follow your dog’s usual routine to help them feel safe, comfortable and settled whilst in our care. I also hold an enhanced DBS certificate as a consequence of working with vulnerable people, and can provide information upon request. When I have free time I enjoy riding my motorbike, DIY projects, walking and keeping active at the gym. I’m happy to arrange a meet and greet appointment before hand to make sure we’re the right fit for you and importantly your dog. Looking forward to meeting you and your furry family member. I’m currently retired so completely flexible day and night to cater for your furry family member’s needs, whether that be for dog sitting (boarding) or walking, or both. Once your “fur baby” is within our care, you can expect the highest quality of care and they will be welcomed into a loving, safe and warm environment. My wife and I have experience of dogs ageing from puppies right up to 14 years of age, having had the privilege of being pet parents to a range of dogs which my children adored. They are now grown up and each have their own fur members of the family. In addition, my wife and I have considerable experience in providing pet medication and have a good understanding and knowledge of various dietary conditions requiring particular dietary needs. Whilst staying at my home, your pet will have access to a secure garden for safe play.
“Helen did a wonderful job looking after our dog, Hollie, for a few days over Christmas. She was caring, reliable, and clearly attentive to Hollie’s needs and sending several photos of Hollie out and about on walks. We felt completely at ease knowing Hollie was in good hands, and it was clear she was well looked after and happy when we returned. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Helen and would be very happy to ask her to look after Hollie again.”

“We feel incredibly lucky to have found such an amazing dog boarder! They cared for our dog over two long weekends while we were away, and the experience could not have been better. From the very beginning, it was clear how much love and attention they give to the dogs in their care. They sent frequent updates and so many wonderful photos, which gave us complete peace of mind while we were gone. It meant the world to see our dog out on walks, playing happily, and looking so relaxed and content. They truly went above and beyond, after a muddy walk, they even bathed him so he came home clean and fresh. They provided plenty of toys to soothe and comfort him, made sure he got lots of exercise, and most importantly, gave him so much affection and reassurance. When we picked him up, he was happy, calm, and clearly very well cared for. We are so grateful for the kindness, attentiveness, and genuine love they showed our dog. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for exceptional, trustworthy care.”

“Absolutely brilliant. Seren looked after my dog Rupert for the week and he was very well looked after. Had lots of updates and pictures of his time which was lovely. Will definitely use again.”

About: Dogs have been part of my life since I was a child. I enjoy walking dogs, taking them to the beach and open fields where they can sniff to their heart’s content. I have walked dogs for family, friends and neighbours for the last 10 years. I currently work part time as I’m now retired. I only work two days a week. I am available to look after your pet during the week and weekends. I have a fenced back garden with no side access. I have 2 very friendly and dislike border collies which will keep your fur babies company. I do have two large crates should you prefer.

“What an amazing sitter! Beata was so kind, friendly and accommodating to me and Fidget! A lovely home with a wonderful big garden. She has a wealth of experience with dogs and Fidget clearly had an amazing time! Thank you so much!”

“Pixel stayed with Chloe for 3 weeks while I had a major operation. I must say that Chloe looked after Pixel beautifully especially since this was his first time away from me for this long. I would recommend her highly.”

“Sophie looked after Ted and his sister at quite short notice. Sophie was fab in all aspects of the planning and visit and we will definitely use her again. We were keen to arrange a visit before their stay and Sophie was able to accommodate this. Sophie was lovely with us and the dogs and listened and was eager for info to make the stay go as well as possible. We were really happy to leave them with Sophie as she quickly understood their personality and their needs, rather than imposing her approach / rules on their them. Thanks Sophie.”
“Paraskevi was great at accommodating a last minute request after we had a cancellation. Honestly couldn't recommend her enough, she provided lots of pictures and updates about Jamie during his stay and he was definitely treated well :)”

“If you want your dog to be with a lovely family and well taken care of then choose Phoebe. I am so happy with the way she cared for my dog. We went away for 8 nights and I needed someone who was great with shy dogs as my dog is a rescue and can be a little unsure at first. We had never left him before so I was nervous, Phoebe reassured me and she and the family bonded with him straight away. I was sent plenty of update's and photos and he looked so happy. I will definitely be sending him back.”

“Kirsty looked after Spencer so well, he had a great time - think he’d have been happing staying! Plenty of activities, walks, playing and cuddles. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend, and would definitely take him to Kirsty again. Kirsty also sent lots of photos and communication was really good! Very happy indeed.”

“Jack took great care of my Jac again while we moved house and got settled - Jac looked so happy and chilled for his stay and came back so chilled and happy probably looking forward to his next stay already :-) 🐶”

“Thank you Emily for caring for Bert! He was clearly very well looked after with lots of love and affection! Emily kept us updated by sending some lovely photos and was great with communication. We will 100% be booking with Emily again, thank you”

“The absolute best dog sitters you could ask for. Elle and Tom looked after Oggie on our wedding day last Saturday. We met before-hand and it was immediately clear they are 100% the biggest dog lovers and the right people for the job! They came and picked him up just after the ceremony on the day which helped out so much. Honestly they are both wonderful people who were fantastic with our big boy! 10/10 I would recommend any day. THANK YOU.”

Phoebe and her family were superb! Really reassuring and accommodating of my last minute request. Phoebe was really thorough with checks which was really reassuring when it came to leaving Barney with somebody that I hadn't met before. Her set up is beautifully set up for looking after dogs, she has a cute little sleeping area and loads of dog toys which put Barney at ease straight away. I'm super grateful and would highly recommend!

Emily was great with our dog Sandy! Sandy stayed with Emily for a week whilst we were away. Emily sent us updates of Sandy and photos. Emily listened to everything we told her about Sandy and took her on lovely beach walks. Sandy came home happy and with a waggy tail which she didn’t when we used kennels in the past. Honestly couldn’t recommend enough! Thank you Emily! Would definitely use again!
Alice was absolutely brilliant with Derek yesterday. It was quite a last-minute booking, and I’m so grateful she was able to take him on — especially as there were a few little changes our end because of work, and she was so kind, flexible, and easy to communicate with throughout. We got lovely photo updates which made such a difference, and she was really reliable with timings too, which I appreciated so much. Derek clearly loved it — he ran straight in without a second thought, had a good sniff around, spotted a burger toy and made a beeline for it straight away 😅 then settled in for cuddles like he owned the place. You can always tell when he’s happy somewhere, and he really was. Such a calm, caring environment — we’ll 100% be booking again. Thank you so much, Alice

Danny & Georgia were absolutely brilliant! It was our first time leaving our puppy, Bodhi, for an overnight stay and we were a little anxious, but they immediately put us at ease. Bodhi and Dougie got along so well, and Bodhi seemed settled and comfortable right from the start. Danny kept us updated with lots of pictures and videos throughout the day, which we were so grateful for. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

Thank you so much to Lillie and Ash for taking care of Barney for 2 nights. Lillie was amazing with communication and providing updates so we felt completely at ease the entire time. The experience from start to finish was just brilliant and it was lovely to know that Barney had Marvin (their Beagle) for company 🥰 Couldn’t recommend enough. Thank you!

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Wales may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
