Fritha was fantastic. She looked after Lizzy so well even letting Izzy sleep on her bed because she seemed anxious. She sent us photos that she took on walks and at home to reassure us that Izzy was fine. I would not hesitate to use Fritha in the future.

Picked Nancy up from Michelle after two week holiday. Throughout the two weeks Michelle kept us updated with messages and photos of Nancy’s progress / etc. - Nancy appeared to really enjoy herself & had fun especially with Luna Michelle’s chocolate lab now Nancy’s best friend… Would highly recommend Michelle to care for your dog. She provided everything and more for a great stay / board. Will definitely be using Michelle again & so should anyone wanting peace of mind that their pet will be well cared for.

Georgia was brilliant with Woody! Over the past few days he’s had the best time playing with her lovely dog, Smol, and going on plenty of walks. It was clear from the updates that he was happy, well cared for, and treated like one of her own. Georgia went above and beyond to make sure he was comfortable and entertained, and I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. I’ll definitely be booking with her again, highly recommended!

Mathew had Blue for an 8 day stay. Blue can be nervous and anxious but showed absolutely no signs of this and he settled straight away. I had lots of lovely updates and pictures of what they were getting up to. Mathew provided a homely safe environment for Blue and I would recommend to anyone. Thank you 🙏

I was a bit worried about leaving Myloe but he seemed at home at the meet and greet and when we dropped him off. Judging by the photos he seemed to enjoy himself especially with the children. However as Myloe is quite sensitive he did stress as he rarely away from at least one of us and had several accidents. Full marks to Amy who took everything in her stride and let us know how things were going. Thanks Amy for looking after him, trying to destress him and what probably felt like endless mopping up. Myloe came back happy from his holiday and we felt reassured he was being looked after well

I couldn’t have asked for better care for Miles during his stay with Rupert. From start to finish, he was attentive, kind, and clearly committed to making sure my dog felt comfortable and happy. I got regular updates, photos, and messages that truly put me at ease. My pup came home relaxed, well-cared for, and clearly loved every minute of their time with him. Rupert went above and beyond, and I’m so grateful for the peace of mind he gave me. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for exceptional pet care!

About: Hi! I work from home fulltime and share my space with a playful, well behaved miniature poodle who loves making new furry friends. I've lived with animals my entire life from stick insects and chinchillas to rabbits and cats so I understand that every pet has unique needs, quirks, and comforts. Whether it’s cuddles, playtime, or calm companionship your pet needs, I offer a safe, loving, and attentive environment. Your pet will be cared for like one of my own with patience, experience, and a genuine passion for animals. I work from home most days of the week, which means your pet will have constant company and care throughout the day. My miniature poodle is a friendly, well-socialised pup who loves to play and share his toys. With a beautiful park right on our doorstep, regular walks, fresh air, and playtime are all part of our daily routine — perfect for keeping pets happy, active, and relaxed. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I have a secure, fully fenced garden for safe outdoor time and a cosy, pet friendly home where they’ll be treated like part of the family. My miniature poodle, Luna, is playful, sociable, and always happy to welcome a new friend. Pets are welcome on the sofa (just like Luna!), but I’ll always follow your rules and routines to make sure your pet feels right at home

Definitely recommend Katrina and use her again without a doubt.👍 huge thumbs up x

This was the first time I had ever had to leave Buster with strangers but, made me feel completely at ease and kept me updated throughout the duration of the booking. Not only did Julie take care of him but it was very clear that he had had fun there and even met a new friend.

About: Hi! My name is Freya and I’ve grown up around animals and have always had a deep love and respect for dogs of all sizes and temperaments. I like taking time to truly tune into your dog’s needs, whether they’re a bundle of energy needing plenty of playtime, or a more anxious soul who needs quiet, gentle reassurance. Because of this I only take one dog per time available. I love exercising exploring from the beach to the forests and so your pet will be offered plenty of beautiful walks in nature and im not sure who’ll will enjoy it more! I work shift work and so I have days free consistently to spend 1 on 1 with your loved pets. My lifestyle is very active and outdoors and so pets fit naturally in my routine and activity. Working in the emergency services has given me a calm and reassuring approach to all situations — including caring for nervous or elderly pets. You can trust that your dog will be in safe hands, and I’m confident managing routines and making them comfortable in my home

Anna was amazing from the very start. Super organised, great communication, but still really relaxed. Woody had an absolutely brilliant time with Anna and her family, and he’s come back so calm. You can tell what a lovely family they are, Woody took to them straight away, and when I picked him up it was obvious how much they’d bonded. He had loads of walks, even got to go on a run (his favourite), and then the cherry on top, a professional photo shoot. The photos were so good I’ve already made one my screensaver. Woods was so happy he didn’t want to leave, but he’ll definitely be seeing Anna again because I’ll 100% be booking with her in future. One very grateful and happy dog dad here 🐶🤩

Oliver was fantastic with nelly. Gave me updates and photos and treated her like family. I wasn't stressed at all knowing she was in safe hands. When we picked Nelly up she was happy and content and you could see she was really fond of Oliver. I will definately be using Oliver for all future holidays and feel it's the perfect place for Nelly.

Sophie and her partner looked after our 3month old, and 6month old puppies for 6 days and nights. They both had a wonderful time- I didn't need to worry at all about leaving them which was my concern as they are so young and first time away. I was very comfortable and was recieving regular updates and pictures. I will definitely be using her again in future. Their 2 dogs were lovely and provided much entertainment and socialisation for my pups. It is such a relief to have found someone I can trust and rely on to provide the care they need. I don't live locally to Sophie but I'd happily drive the 45mins there and back again, knowing that are safe and happy with them.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Dog Boarding in Newport on Rover is £33.35 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Dog Boarding easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Dog Boarding. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 1,434 sitters on Rover offering Dog Boarding across Newport. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Wales may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
