“Steve looked after my fur baby exceptionally well. He is a very nice, kind and helpful man. Steve dilagently followed a rather complicated feeding and medication regime to the letter. When I got back from my break my boy was calm and happy. Steve sent me video, pictures and regular updates for which I was extremely grateful. Respected my home and kept it clean and tidy. Played and loved Dexter as if he was his own dog. Highly recommend Steve to look after your pet, I will definately be requesting he comes to look after Dexter again. Booked Steve at short notice because my original sitter cancelled due to a family grievance - Thankyou for helping me out I am extremely grateful.”

“Looked after my three dogs for a week and when I came home I think they were a little disappointed!! Gave me lovely updates whilst I was away and managed my cantankerous bulldog being a bully brilliantly. Thank you.”

About: I am a caring, responsible and respectful animal lover and pet sitter. I have been looking after my own and friends and families furry loved ones since childhood mainly dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs. Further, I am a registered dog walker for Newport Dog's Home and have had experience of nervous and reactive dogs. I am very active; love fresh air and a good long walk. I am also about the cuddles, playtime and mental stimulation for your family pets. At the inital meet and greet, I can meet with yourself and your pet to establish trust and see if we are a good fit, as well as discuss your requirements, so I can provide the best care tailored to their needs. I will respect your routines/commands and if house sitting, also your home and belongings. I appreciate it's worrying to leave your furry family members with someone new, hence the initial meet. I provide photos/videos for owners to show them how our day is going. Please do reach out, if you have any queries. I'm currently working part-time Monday to Friday during term-time only, so am available for walks/drop ins pre 7am or post 4pm. Also flexible with overnight stays in your home, but would need some flexibility to attend work, boring I know! Trust me, I'd rather be home with the pets! During school holidays, I have much greater availability and flexibility. Any queries, just ask! I would treat your home as if my own. I am responsible, trustworthy, clean and tidy. For familiarity, I would be happy to follow your routines, use commands etc to help your pets feel calm and settled. I love long walks but equally happy to sit and read and give lots of cuddles and attention to your furry friends.
“As always, Tina was fantastic at looking after Bobbin. I received regular updates throughout the day, giving me peace of mind that he was being well looked after. He had a lovely day of walks, play time and cuddles 🥰 I would definitely recommend Tina to anyone who needs a reliable pet sitter 😊”

“The first time Ying-Ying has met Bowie and sat for the evening and I am very happy and comfortable letting her look after him. Lovely young lady, very friendly and made a big effort to gain Bowie's trust and took great care of him. Ying-Ying also kept in touch letting me know how Bowie was getting on, sending photos and videos. I would definitely recommend x”

I do ask that you quickly check my calender before booking to make sure I'm available and to avoid disappointment. About: Hi! My name is Freya and I’ve grown up around animals and have always had a deep love and respect for dogs of all sizes and temperaments. I like taking time to truly tune into your dog’s needs, whether they’re a bundle of energy needing plenty of playtime, or a more anxious soul who needs quiet, gentle reassurance. Because of this I only take one dog per time available. I love exercising exploring from the beach to the forests and so your pet will be offered plenty of beautiful walks in nature and im not sure who’ll will enjoy it more! I work shift work and so I have days free consistently to spend 1 on 1 with your loved pets. My lifestyle is very active and outdoors and so pets fit naturally in my routine and activity. Working in the emergency services has given me a calm and reassuring approach to all situations — including caring for nervous or elderly pets. You can trust that your dog will be in safe hands, and I’m confident managing routines and making them comfortable in my home

About: I've taken care of animals from dogs, cats and hamsters and each animal has been very spoilt as I have a lot of love to give to these precious creatures. I'm always available 6 days a week to look after my friends or families dogs/ cats and have catered to each animals needs. I've always been an animal lover and have grown up with both cats and dogs and have bought my own cats a soon as I've moved out. I work from home which means I am flexible throughout the day and I can walk your dog whenever you need me too. No hassle no fuss. You can be assured that when your pet returns, that they will return very happy. They may return with a new toy or a few treats :) If you are enable to travel, I am willing to travel to you and walk your furry friend around your area, equally I can take them back to my area and walk them. I plan on providing for each furry friend what he or she enjoys the best. For example if your dog loves playing fetch, well do that, if your dog loves going on a run with their hooman, we'll do that, does your dog like to go for a swim? We'll do that. I'm all about putting the care, needs and safety of your dog first. I know parks can be full of bikes and scooters too but I want to assure you that I'm always aware of this as my own dog loves to bark and would possibly chase them if she were allowed so I'm always on the look out for them. I highly recommend not booking me on very hot days as I do not want burn their little paws on the hot path. I do have a portable water bowl to bring on each walk incase they get thirsty. When I walk my own dogs, I usually keep them on a short lead (whilst near roads) untill I get to the park/ field where either is safe enough to either let them off the lead or extend the lead so they have a bit more freedom. I live very close to a few vets so you never need to worry if anything were to go wrong. I have actually taken stray dogs/ my friends dogs to the vets to get seen when there was something wrong.
“We cannot recommend Hannah enough and will definitely book with her again! She went above and beyond and we simply could not ask for anything more! She sent regular updates and pictures of our dog having the best time. Thank you so much Hannah x”

About: I am an experienced and reliable pet-sitter who has always loved taking care of my own and other people's pets - I have always owned dogs. I have looked after dogs, cats and rabbits of all ages for my family and friends, so anything from pups and kittens to seniors are not a problem for me :) Playing with dogs and cats is always the best part of taking care of them, so I am completely comfortable with high and low energy pets! I also love exploring nature walks in and around Newport, and would love to bring your dog along with me! I am currently a university student and am missing my little pets so much, so I would love to walk and take care of yours, and have plenty of time to do so! I currently cannot board any pets, but I would love to walk, drop-in, or house-sit, making sure they are comfortable and well looked after. Being a university student means I have lots of time to care for and walk your pets! Even during term-time, I can adjust my schedule in order to care for the pets appropriately, and am always free to take your dogs on their favourite walks. I am happy to house-sit or drop in according to your boundaries and preferences! I am able to take care of anything from pups to senior pets, and try to adapt my schedule to the pets'. I love to know everything about the pets I take care of, like their favourite foods, toys, and activities. I love knowing the dogs' favourite routes or places for their walks, to make sure they have loads of fun and are tuckered out by home time!

“Isobel really looked after Toby for the day, he seemed really happy when we I got back home, hopefully isobel will be able to look after him for the next few weeks, even got a nice sketch of him,”

About: I’ve grown up with animals and have never lived without one! I regularly dog/cat sit for my grandparents as they go away quite a few times a year. I also have a beautiful border collie named Nala, who I pride myself in taking care of! I work part time but am fully flexible with when I can do drop in visits and walks as I only work 5 hour shifts. I live near multiple big fields where there is plenty of room for your dogs to roam free and explore for themselves whilst getting all the exercise they need! I live in a very sociable area so your dog will get plenty of needed social time, however there are also plenty of areas around where I can go for a quiet walk if needed.
“Benji was very well looked after by Jess. Felt very comfortable leaving him with them even though he's a big dog. Had regular pictures and updates and communication excellent. House was also left in good condition. Would highly recommend!”

About: I adore dogs. I have experience caring for a wide range of breeds, from large dogs like Great Danes, Bloodhounds and Lurchers to smaller breeds such as Chihuahuas and, now, my own French Bulldogs who I co-parent with a family member. So my dogs are with me twice a month. My father brought me up with dogs, he had seven greyhounds and lurches so I’ve always known a home full of dogs. I understand that each dog has its own personality, exercise requirements, temperament and way of communicating, so I always adapt my care to suit the dog in front of me. Whether it's a long walk for a high-energy dog, a slower pace for an older companion, or plenty of play, affection and reassurance, I want every dog to feel safe, happy and loved while they're with me. Dogs are a passion of mine and one of my biggest interests. I genuinely enjoy spending time with them and take great pride in making sure they're well looked after, comfortable and treated as if they were my own. I work from home so I will be at home to give your fur baby my undivided attention! Please get in touch if you have any questions. Thank you, Charlotte Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I work from home and part time, which means I have the flexibility to give dogs the time, attention and exercise they deserve rather than trying to fit them around a busy schedule. Walks, playtime, enrichment and cuddles are all things I genuinely look forward to. I love getting outside, whatever the weather, and I'm happy to tailor each day to suit your dog's routine and personality—whether that's an energetic adventure, a relaxed sniff-filled stroll or simply keeping them company at home. Because I have a flexible schedule, I can also provide plenty of toilet breaks, stick to feeding and medication routines, and make sure your dog never feels rushed or left alone for long. I'll care for them as if they were one of my own, giving you complete peace of mind while you're away. Whether I'm caring for a pet in my own home or in their owner's home, my priority is making sure they feel safe, relaxed and loved. I know that every dog is different, so I take the time to learn their routine, favourite activities, quirks and any specific care requirements before they stay with me. I always aim to keep their routine as consistent as possible, from feeding times and walks to play, rest and bedtime. I believe dogs thrive on familiarity, so I make sure they receive plenty of attention, affection and mental stimulation throughout the day, while always respecting the boundaries and training their owners have put in place. Communication is really important to me too. I'll keep you updated with messages and photos so you can relax knowing your pet is happy, settled and being cared for as if they were part of my own family.
“Krisztina is a fantastic dog sitter. She recently looked after our six year old staffy, Bobbin and we were so pleased with her services. Krisztina came to the house beforehand to meet Bobbin and he took to her straight away. Bobbin suffers from separation anxiety and is nervous of other dogs, so we always need to ensure our dog sitters can cater to his needs and ensure he is happy and relaxed. Krisztina listened carefully when we explained his usual routine and behaviour, and she was very attentive during the sit. Krisztina sent regular updates and pictures throughout the day and Bobbin had a wonderful time with her! She was also extremely friendly and professional throughout the whole process. I would definitely use Krisztina again and would recommend her to anyone in need of a dog sitter.”

“Would absolutely recommend Sam’s services to anyone. She was incredibly friendly to us and our puppy and he had the best time at her house playing with her dogs. We were sent pictures and videos while we were away. Will definitely be using Sam again!”

“From the beginning, Hayley was very easy to communicate with, quick to reply to messages and happy to arrange a house visit before agreeing to care for my pet Cat, Daisy. Over the course of the three days Hayley carried out home visits, she regularly sent pictures and updates, putting my mind to ease knowing that Daisy was in a safe pair of hands! I highly recommend Hayley as a sitter and would 100% use her again. Thanks Hayley!”

Ieva looked after our Golden Retriever and cat so well. We were really nervous about leaving them with someone else, but she couldn’t have done a better job of putting our minds at ease. She kept us updated throughout our time away with honest, reassuring messages, which we really appreciated. Our dog can be reactive at times, so we’re usually quite anxious about letting other people walk him, but she handled him brilliantly and gave us complete confidence. She’s also a genuinely lovely person and really easy to chat to. We wouldn’t hesitate to book her again and will 100% be re-booking. Highly recommend!
As always, Tina was fantastic at looking after Bobbin. I received regular updates throughout the day, giving me peace of mind that he was being well looked after. He had a lovely day of walks, play time and cuddles 🥰 I would definitely recommend Tina to anyone who needs a reliable pet sitter 😊

We honestly couldn’t recommend Jodie enough! She went above and beyond for our dogs, even coming to meet them beforehand which made us feel so much more comfortable. During the visit she was amazing with Minnie, who can get really anxious and woofy, and she handled her so kindly and patiently. Charlie and Minnie absolutely loved having her, and it was such a relief knowing they were being looked after so well. She’s so lovely, easygoing and easy to chat to, and she made the whole thing feel completely stress-free. We’ll definitely be booking her again! 🐾✨

Oliwia is wonderful with my young adult Lab. She met us in advance and they were instantly comfortable with each other. She understood how to read him and made sure to ask about all the important details I would have forgetten to share! I had absolutely no worries leaving them together. Oliwia did a perfect job and i’ll definitely book her again :)

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Newport walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Newport choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
