Phoebe was great, our pup was a little nervous at first but soon warmed up to her and seemed happy and tired when we got back. I’d definitely use Phoebe again.

About: Hi! I'm Alison. I've been in the pet sitting community for almost 10 years, and look after dogs and cats, old and young. I'm a homeowner and live in a 3-bed terraced house, so there's plenty of room for your pet to roam. And there's a garden - no grass, but it's spacious and secure. I don't have any pets of my own. I'm fit so I can take your dog on a lovely long walk where needed. I'm confident administering medication if necessary. I have insurance to cover boarding, dog walking, drop-ins and sitting in your home. Let me know if you’d like to know more about that. I'll look after your pet as if they're one of the family! I can provide testimonials if required. I work mainly from home, and I'm fortunate to have a lot of flexibility, so I'm here 24/7 to cater to your pet's needs. I need to attend the office occasionally, but that's built into my calendar ahead of time My house and garden are secure, so your pet will be safe. It's just me at home so your pet will have my undivided attention.

Chantalle was amazing with my dog Rexy. She took the time out of her day to come and visit him beforehand to make sure he was comfortable being around her. I was sent plenty of videos and photos while I was away keeping me in the loop with all the play time, dog walks and visits to the dog parks. Rexy even made a new best friend in Freddie. I would highly recommend Chantalle for anyone who’s looking for a dog sitter!

Jenni had my little puppy Ziggy overnight in my home. Jenni kept us updated throughout the day with messages & photos of Ziggy. Everything that I set out for Ziggy including feeding / playing etc was followed by Jenni, we were very grateful that Jenni could help us out in such short notice. Very reliable, loving and friendly. Will definitely keep Jenni in mind for future visits, and would highly recommend her service! Thank you 🐶

About: Our family have been around and owned dogs our entire lives. My husband and I have been looking after family and friends dogs together for nearly 5 years. We are newly established as a licensed home boarders taking 2 doggy guests at a time alongside our two neutered boys, and we want to offer as much flexibility and tailoring as possible for you and your pets comfort! I work from home weekdays so dogs have plenty of company! We can do walks at breakfast, lunch and dinner time, and weekends we can go for nice long and more adventurous walks (weather and dog dependant!) We have a large fenced back garden, half grass and half stone/slabs, and a smaller fenced front garden with grass and stone, the dogs can go anywhere in our home except my daughters room in case of teddy theft! We have a huge sofa so there is plenty of space for cwtches! We are pretty relaxed, flexible and happy to make accommodations to make sure all dogs are as happy as possible.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars – Would 100% Book Again! We recently left our two dogs, Esmae and Gizmo, and our two cats, Luna and Lyra, with Destiny while we went away for a couple of nights to celebrate my partner's birthday. Like many pet owners, our animals are family, and I find it incredibly difficult to trust someone else to care for them. Destiny arranged a meet-and-greet before we confirmed the booking, which really helped put my mind at ease from the start. Destiny was friendly, professional, and punctual. Our little Gizmo took to her straight away, which is always a good sign! Esmae is a bit more of a diva and can take her time warming to people, and Luna is much the same, so I wasn't expecting instant friendships. Before our trip, Destiny took the time to ask lots of questions and make sure she fully understood everyone's routines, personalities, and needs. It was clear she genuinely cared about getting everything right and wanted the animals to feel as comfortable as possible while we were away. While we were away, we received regular updates, photos, videos, and voice notes, which made such a difference and really helped me relax and enjoy our time away. Esmae, our typically sassy and slightly standoffish Chihuahua, was completely won over by Destiny in less than three days and was happily cwtching up with her. Esmae also has epilepsy and unfortunately experienced a seizure while we were away. Thanks to all the conversations beforehand, Destiny recognised what was happening, understood the changes in Esmae's behaviour afterwards, and supported her brilliantly. What could have been a very stressful situation was handled calmly and confidently, and I felt reassured throughout thanks to Destiny's communication and updates. They both handled it like absolute champions. Gizmo, who is usually full of life, was clearly missing us while we were away. Destiny gave him plenty of TLC, reassurance, and attention, and took everything at his pace. He really enjoyed his walks with her and was clearly very well looked after. As a multi-species household, we also appreciated how well Destiny managed the different needs of both the dogs and cats. Lyra absolutely loved all the fuss and attention, and even Luna—who I'm still trying to win over myself—was happy spending time with Destiny! The biggest compliment I can give is that I spent less time worrying about the animals and more time enjoying our holiday because I knew they were in safe hands. Coming home to four happy, relaxed, and settled pets confirmed we'd made the right choice. I honestly can't recommend Destiny highly enough. Knowing our pets were safe, loved, and cared for as individuals meant the world to us. We would absolutely book with her again and, for the first time in a long while, feel confident about taking little trips away knowing we have someone we can truly trust to look after our animals. Thank you, Destiny, for taking such wonderful care of our little family. ❤️🐾🐶🐶🐱🐱 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Would 100% recommend and will definitely be booking again.

About: My family and I had a West Highland terrier who lived till the ripe old age of 21! We adopted him from my grandad when he passed, who also had 5 previous westies all called skye-original I know!! I am a very active person who lives the company of a dog. I would be quite often found walking on the south west coastal path or along a beach somewhere. Unfortunately I work full time so it would be impractical for me to have my own. Most recently my parents welcomed the most beautiful working cocker spaniel, Stan, into their lives, who I also adore. I work full time Monday -friday but free after 5pm on week days and all day weekends. However, please message me as I can be flexible. We have an enclosed walled garden, with a gate. We also have full wooden flooring on the first floor of the house. Easy to clean!

About: I've had black labradors in my family since I was 9. My parents have always relied on the to look after them by taking them on walks, feeding and generally being their best bud as they were to me. I currently own a house rabbit named Merlin who is king of his lair, but he is very sociable and playful. I am very confident in taking care of our fur babies, and I will give 100% love, care and attention to them. At the moment I am taking time out of work so I have flexibility to work around you and your pets. Weekends I am happy to do and weekdays. I don't have much of a garden, it's more of a yard, so no animal can escape. I have lovely parks in my area and loads of nice walks. I don't live on a main road but it can be busy

Chloe is a star. We had travelled to a wedding and needed someone to look after Maggie in an unfamiliar setting. Maggie is an anxious reactive dog but Chloe was calm and Maggie settled really quickly. We got some lovely pupdates in the form of photos and videos so we could enjoy the night knowing Maggie was in safe hands. Thanks so much and looking forward to seeing you again in the future.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Merthyr Tydfil on Rover is £40.25 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 746 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Merthyr Tydfil. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Merthyr Tydfil walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Merthyr Tydfil choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
