“A big thank you to Curtis for an excellent service. Curtis was really flexible at short notice when we were let down by a friend a few days before a 10 day trip overseas. He came and did a meet and greet the day before we were due to leave, met our 2 dogs (one of which is very unsure of new people and can be a little challenging!) and then returned on our leave date to start the sit. Curtis is punctual, communicative and took lots of great pics whilst we were away. We came home to two happy dogs and an immaculate home where everything had been looked after. Our next trip is already booked and we hope to be return/ repeat customers going forward! With no family to help us with pet care, it’s been a genuine relief to find Rover and Curtis… “would highly recommend!””

“Alison dog sat for us for the day at very short notice. She made time before the day to come and meet me and my dog. She made sure she took notes on everything she needed to know and made me feel completely at ease. This is the first time using a sitter, Alison responded promptly to all messages, kept us updated throughout the day on how Frankie was doing. She treated Frankie like one of her own and he seemed very content and happy when we got back. Alison is a nice, easy going person and is easy to talk to. Would definitely recommend and will definitely use again for future sitting needs.”

“Simon & Caitlin looked after our 2 small dogs for a long weekend while we were attending a family event. This was the first time we had ever left the dogs behind so we were a bit anxious - until we met Simon & Caitlin. One of our dogs is very nervous but she took to them immediately as they are very relaxed and obviously used to dogs. They listened carefully to our care instructions which reassured me. The house was clean & tidy when they left and we received daily updates. Would recommend them for pet sitting and would definitely use them again.”

“Cody was amazing!! We have 3 cats and a large dog(GSP). This wasn’t a problem for Cody. She took him on plenty of walk and gave us lots of updates while we we on holiday to give us peace of mind. We came back to our house exactly how we left it. I can’t give her enough praise.”

About: I’m a qualified, force-free dog trainer at Biscuits Buddies Dog Training I have many years of hands-on experience caring for dogs of all ages, breeds and personalities. I’m particularly experienced with nervous, anxious and sensitive dogs, as well as dogs who may need a little more patience and understanding. I’m confident reading canine body language and always work at the individual dog’s pace, using kind, reward-based methods. I also have experience with puppies, senior dogs, large breeds and dogs with additional behavioural or emotional needs. I understand that every dog is different, so I’ll always follow their usual routine as closely as possible and make sure they feel safe, comfortable and understood while in my care. Most importantly, I’ll treat your dog as an individual , not just another booking! 🐾 Pet care fits naturally around my day, and when your dog is with me they’ll enjoy plenty of attention, enrichment, toilet breaks and time to relax. Please note that this is not a 24-hour supervision service. Dogs under my care must be comfortable being left home alone for periods of up to 4 hours during the day, as I may need to leave the house for work, appointments or errands. I’ll always make sure your dog’s needs are met before I leave and that they have a safe, comfortable space to settle until I return. 🐾 Your dog’s safety and wellbeing will always come first. As a professional force-free dog trainer, I’m experienced in reading canine body language and recognising when a dog may be feeling worried, overwhelmed or simply needs some space. In my care, dogs are treated as part of the family and given a comfortable, calm environment with plenty of opportunity to rest. I’ll follow your dog’s normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding, walks, medication and any individual care requirements. I only use kind, force-free handling and will never use punishment or aversive equipment. I also take introductions and interactions with other dogs carefully, rather than assuming every dog wants or needs to socialise. I want both you and your dog to feel completely comfortable, so I’m always happy to discuss their individual needs, quirks and routines before their stay. 🐾

About: I have had dogs all my life. I have had small and large dogs and experience of walking and caring. My dog Luna now is a great Dane and enjoy walking up mountains and to rivers. I have a good level of fitness so able to take dogs on similar walks if wanted. I work full time as a nurse but looking for enjoyment on my days off I currently work full time as a nurse. I do shift work so am able to dedicate time to something I really enjoy. I love being outdoors and have a good level of fitness. I have experience of looking after dogs and have my own dog since a puppy. She initially was a very nervous puppy but with patient she is a fab dog now who enjoys being out and with my children.
“Elizabeth was amazing, she was able to sit last minute due to a medical emergency. She arrived quickly, was able to take digger for a night time walk ( which he loved) she stayed over and walked him again on the second day ( over 3 hours which again he loved) and waited until we got home. Highly recommended 😍”

“This was the first time we have ever decided to leave our dogs for the day. Robyn came 4 days before the day we requested to meet the dogs. They took to her straight away. On the day, Robyn was on time and we went through everything with her. We got updates during the day on how they were doing. Robyn was fantastic with our dogs and put or minds at ease. She is very caring and loveable with our dogs.”

“Jenni had my little puppy Ziggy overnight in my home. Jenni kept us updated throughout the day with messages & photos of Ziggy. Everything that I set out for Ziggy including feeding / playing etc was followed by Jenni, we were very grateful that Jenni could help us out in such short notice. Very reliable, loving and friendly. Will definitely keep Jenni in mind for future visits, and would highly recommend her service! Thank you 🐶”

About: Our family have been around and owned dogs our entire lives. My husband and I have been looking after family and friends dogs together for nearly 5 years. We are newly established as a licensed home boarders taking 2 doggy guests at a time alongside our two neutered boys, and we want to offer as much flexibility and tailoring as possible for you and your pets comfort! I work from home weekdays so dogs have plenty of company! We can do walks at breakfast, lunch and dinner time, and weekends we can go for nice long and more adventurous walks (weather and dog dependant!) We have a large fenced back garden, half grass and half stone/slabs, and a smaller fenced front garden with grass and stone, the dogs can go anywhere in our home except my daughters room in case of teddy theft! We have a huge sofa so there is plenty of space for cwtches! We are pretty relaxed, flexible and happy to make accommodations to make sure all dogs are as happy as possible.
“Taylor was great with our anxious dachshund. Despite it being a short notice booking she prioritised a meet and greet a few days before the sit and it was clear to see how comfortable she is around animals. During the two night sit, Taylor updated us with messages and pictures. Dougie warmed up to her instantly and we were glad to see that he was so happy and content. She took excellent care of him, sticking to his schedule and routines. She also took great care of our home. We’ll definitely be booking with Taylor again!”

“Geraint took fantastic care of my two dogs and home while I was away for an extended holiday. Everything ran perfectly which gave me total confidence to relax and enjoy my time away.”

About: I have a 5 year old labrador and I'm very used to walking him for 1 hour daily. I grew up with dogs and lived near a farm as a young child. I also had 2 pet persian house cats as well as budgie's and hamsters. I work full-time but this is agile, balancing office based with working from home. I am usually free during the evenings and on fridays as well as the weekends. But this can be flexible if i offer a boarding service as i can agile work. I have a fenced garden so everything is safe and enclosed, i also live on a quiet estate where the road is not busy. I like to spend time with the animals when they are in my company, as long as a blanket is on the sofa and bed they are welcome to lay on this.
“Brad had great communication from the first time I messaged him, he came ahead of the booking to meet Lola and saw the booking through as requested. He was nice and considerate the whole time and Lola loved him. She is strong and pulls on walks but Brad managed her well. We can home to a happy pup and cared for home. Will 100% book Brad again.”

“I cannot recommend Laura highly enough. Laura kept us both in the loop with how our pup was doing, from photos of her enjoying herself and messages reassuring us she was behaving and happy. Laura responded quickly and offered to do a meet and greet before hand. Laura really was fantastic and our little girl loved every minute spent with her. We can now book holidays knowing our dog is in safe hands. I would not hesitate to recommend Laura”

“Hiruth was great and helped us out to look after Scout and Apollo really well. They both had a great time and it was a much better alternative to using kennels which Scout in particular does not enjoy.”

Chloe is a star. We had travelled to a wedding and needed someone to look after Maggie in an unfamiliar setting. Maggie is an anxious reactive dog but Chloe was calm and Maggie settled really quickly. We got some lovely pupdates in the form of photos and videos so we could enjoy the night knowing Maggie was in safe hands. Thanks so much and looking forward to seeing you again in the future.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Merthyr Tydfil choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
