“We had a fantastic experience using Tanya to dogsit our two labradors! We were in a bit of a tricky spot having adopted a second dog over Christmas which meant our original dog care arrangements for our holiday in January were no longer viable, Tanya responded really quickly when we reached out to her which was much appreciated and immediately put us at ease with her friendly demeanour! Tanya came and looked after the dogs at our house for the whole week, sending daily updates on the dogs, who were having a great time time! One of our dogs has to take daily tablets and Tanya always made sure to include an update on when they had medicine during the day! I would highly recommend Tanya if you need any kind of dog care, you can tell she really loves what she does, and we trusted her completely with both our dogs and the house!”

“This was the first time we have ever decided to leave our dogs for the day. Robyn came 4 days before the day we requested to meet the dogs. They took to her straight away. On the day, Robyn was on time and we went through everything with her. We got updates during the day on how they were doing. Robyn was fantastic with our dogs and put or minds at ease. She is very caring and loveable with our dogs.”

“Beverley was an absolute pleasure! We’d highly recommend her; our usually anxious Cockapoo settled in right away with her and it was such a worry off our minds. 5/5 would absolutely recommend!”

“We had a great experience with Tina. Despite my last-minute request, she took the time to come over beforehand to meet Bobbin and learn about his behaviour, routine, and care needs. Throughout the day, Tina sent regular updates and photos, which was really reassuring. It was lovely to see that Bobbin was having so much fun with her and getting plenty of cuddles and attention. He clearly had a wonderful day and was very happy and relaxed in her care. Tina was kind, professional, and attentive, following all of Bobbin's care instructions and taking great care of my home as well. I felt completely confident leaving him with her. I wouldn't hesitate to book Tina again and would happily recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and reliable pet sitter.”

About: I have had dogs as long as I can remember. I had the most beautiful Newfie up until two years ago. Currently I have an 14 year old Jack Russell who struggles to walk and can be looked after by the rest of my family if I am away. I have grown up with newfies, cats and Jack Russell’s. Always had at least one or two of each at a time. I am currently a mature student and my hobbies include studying in some lovely quiet surrounding while Also taking (well, until the last year or so as she’s not longer able) my dog on adventures up Mountains, beaches and to new place - her being unable to now is what is driving my need to do this for another dog. I am currently studying for a degree as a mature student of nearly 50 years old. My beautiful Jack Russell is 14 years old, deaf and going blind. We used to have adventures every day and I desperate miss that as she can no longer walk more than 20 minutes at a time anymore. She will stay home with husband and kids while I’m away. I would love to look after your dogs/cats and take them for walks or adventures or just cuddles or playing whatever they need or want. After all their needs are seen to I can concentrate on my studies and on my breaks can take them for comfort breaks or little walks for a change of scenery. I dot look after pets in my own home as my poor of Jack Russell is not an animal ‘person/dog’. I would never put her happiness at risk. I only look after pets in their own home (because that’s also where they feel more comfortable - especially when their loved ones are away). I happy to follow whatever schedule they’re used to or prefer. I’m happy to do king adventurous walks or smaller/shorter walks through the day.

“I cannot recommend Laura highly enough. Laura kept us both in the loop with how our pup was doing, from photos of her enjoying herself and messages reassuring us she was behaving and happy. Laura responded quickly and offered to do a meet and greet before hand. Laura really was fantastic and our little girl loved every minute spent with her. We can now book holidays knowing our dog is in safe hands. I would not hesitate to recommend Laura”

Pet owners share their Rover experiences - Torfaen
Tanya was fantastic with our rescue boy Kenzo. He’s super highly strung and anxious, especially when we leave the house together. We wanted someone who Kenzo could become comfortable around easily and Tanya adapted brilliantly to his needs, recognising he needs a little time to work things out before he relaxes. Her calm and soft approach helped him settle beautifully while we enjoyed a date night for the first time in forever. Would thoroughly recommend

Beverley and Flynn hit it off and she was great with him. She kept him company and he cuddled up to his new Aunty. Beverley was prompt, friendly, accommodating and easy going. It was an absolute pleasure to have such peace of mind for an important night out that we couldn't miss. Thank you Bev! We hope you'll look after Flynn again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Torfaen walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Torfaen choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
