“Charlotte is amazing, shes confident with my two boys who can be a lot as they are English Bull Terriers (notoriously stubborn breed). She sent me loads of photos and didnt mind me checking in every couple of hours to make sure they were ok. I had a v bad experience with a previous sitting who actually lost of one of my dogs, so I was very anxious to leave them with someone. I feel so much more relaxed and happy and am just very grateful for Charlotte's top tier service <3 I wouldnt have been able to have a great day out withour her. Thanks again Charlotte!”

“CJ looked after Luna and our house for three nights and she was great! Kept us updated with everything including pictures and left the house spotless, even doing the bed linen. Luna loves her and we have booked her again for a longer stay in April whilst we are away. I have no hesitation in recommending her”

“Amy was so sweet and natural with Tina. She took care of her beautifully and went out for a walk with her to the park with Tina’s doggy pals. It was so reassuring to know she was in such good hands”

“This was Naomi's third visit with Edie and Alfie and they were really excited to see her! She has such a lovely calming way with them and is a delightful person to have in your home. We definitely will be asking to book with her again!”

“Will was great! Attentive, communicative and our dog's best friend. Thank you for making our anxious pup feel safe, secure and happy, and thanks for being a great sitter! 🐕”

“Gadget immediately fell in love with Charlotte. Got great updates and photos throughout the day and he was super chilled when I got home. Great sitter - would definitely book again.”

“Isobel house sit and took care of our two indoor cats for the weekend. Isobel was fantastic and was very happy to meet our wishes (ie meal times, playtime, etc). Isobel also kept us in touch as requested and sent us photos. The cats really took a liking to her and I would be happy to use her service again and again! Isobel also left our home tidy and clean which was a nice added benefit. Highly recommend Isobel and will be rebooking her soon. Thank you Isobel 🤗”
“As per usual, Sarah absolutely exceeded all expectations with our most recent booking. I was nervous as it was the first time leaving Beans to go abroad but Sarah made it so easy - sending pictures and messages and letting us know exactly how the little man was doing. Will definitely be booking in again, thank you so much, Sarah! ❤️❤️❤️❤️”

“Sofiia was amazing with our two cats! I never like leaving them and she was more than happy to follow my list of instructions and sent me loads of updates so I know they were in great hands. They were really relaxed in her company, would definitely book again!”

“Lizzie was fantastic with our Flo. She accepted our booking at the last minute after our original sitter had to cancel, which was a huge relief as we were away on our honeymoon. Flo can be quite anxious, so it was important to us to find someone calm, patient, and caring. Lizzie was exactly that. She arranged a meet-and-greet beforehand to make sure Flo was comfortable with her, which gave us great peace of mind. Throughout our trip, Lizzie kept us updated with regular photos and messages, so we always knew Flo was happy and well looked after. From the pictures, it looked like Flo had made a friend for life! We wouldn't hesitate to book Lizzie again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a kind, reliable, and thoughtful dog sitter.”

“Kerry was brilliant, taking a late booking, arriving on good time and providing loads of updates while looking after Bramble. She's very experienced with animals and really knew how to ensure our pup was looked after. Thank you again!”

“Beth did a fantastic job as usual looking after Pepper! He was happy and bubbly when we got back, testament to the care Beth had given him! She also did a lovely job keeping our flat nice and tidy, it was great to come back and had no clearing up to do, we just settled back into our normal routine! Couldn’t recommend Beth enough!”

About: I've never known life without a dog- I've grown up around them since birth. I love all dogs, big or small, but I have particular experience with big breeds and rescue dogs, having owned them myself (including my Scottish Deerhound) and grown up training and caring for them. I've spent years dog walking for neighbours, family and friends, and regularly help my mum, who's a professional dog walker, with her round. I've also done local dog sitting back home in Suffolk. Having moved to Bristol, I'm excited to bring that experience and genuine love of dogs to new clients here. I’m currently taking a break from employment so have all the time in world! Whenever you need a sitter or walker, I can be available. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I’ll follow your care instructions carefully, including feeding, walks, medication (if needed), and maintaining their usual routine. I’ll keep your home clean and secure, provide plenty of attention, playtime, and affection, and send regular photo and message updates so you can relax knowing your pet is in caring, reliable hands.
“Emily was a fantastic cat sitter. She clearly has a way with animals as our old Black Cat Lucky bonded with her straight away. Emily sent us lots of photos of Lucky when we were away - which was really reassuring - and we came home to a very relaxed and happy cat. The house was also immaculately left - really tidy and nice to come home to. Will definitely be using her again! Thank you Emily!”

“We are very, very happy with how Gigi looked after our boys during a long two week house sit. She knows how to look after dogs, is proactive in managing their days and walks (and ongoing training for our young one), and looked after our house very well. She is very responsive and trustworthy. More importantly, our dogs love her! Thank you Gigi! We are confident to recommend her to anyone.”

About: Hi! We’re Hunter and Charlotte, a friendly couple from Wellington, New Zealand who absolutely love dogs and cats 🐶🐱 We’ve been together for 5 years and live together in Bristol. We both work professional jobs, with one of us working remotely most of the time and the other working hybrid, so we’re often around the house and able to give pets plenty of company and attention. We’ve recently started house sitting through BorrowMyDoggy and have really loved the experience so far. We’ve looked after all sorts of dogs, from high-energy Kelpies who need plenty of exercise and playtime to a much more relaxed Basset Hound who is perfectly happy taking things at their own pace. We love long walks, playing with dogs and, of course, plenty of cuddles! Outside of work, we’re both outdoorsy and enjoy exploring, walking and getting out into nature. That said, we’re definitely more of a quiet night-in couple than a party couple, so we’re very happy spending an evening at home with a furry companion. We don’t currently have pets of our own, but we’re hoping to adopt a greyhound when we eventually return to New Zealand. House sitting is a lovely way for us to enjoy having animals around while getting to know different breeds and personalities along the way. We’re also naturally clean, tidy and respectful people. We enjoy keeping a nice home and are more than happy to help with the odd household chore, plants, bins or anything else that helps keep things running smoothly while you’re away. Most importantly, we understand that leaving your pets with someone is a big deal. We’ll stick to their routines, give them plenty of attention and keep you updated with photos and messages so you can enjoy your time away knowing they’re happy and well cared for. 🐾 Pet care fits very naturally into our daily routine. With one of us working mostly remotely and the other working hybrid, we’re around the home a lot and can give pets plenty of company and attention throughout the day. We’re happy to follow each pet’s usual routine for feeding, walks, toilet breaks, medication and anything else they need. We enjoy getting out for long walks and playing with dogs, but are equally happy spending time at home with them — whether that’s keeping them company, giving them some attention or letting them relax beside us while we work. We’re also very happy to keep on top of the less glamorous jobs! We’ll make sure food and water bowls are kept clean, litter trays and outdoor areas are looked after, and any accidents or mess are dealt with promptly. We know every pet is different, so we’re happy to adapt our routine to their individual needs and make sure they feel comfortable and settled while you’re away. We understand that trusting someone with your pets and home is a big responsibility. We have references from our previous house sits and are always happy to provide these to give you extra peace of mind. For us, the key to keeping a pet safe and happy is understanding them properly before you leave. We like to have a thorough handover with owners covering their routine, personality, feeding, walks, any quirks, boundaries, recall, medication and anything else we should know. No detail is too small — the better we understand your pet, the better we can care for them. We’ll keep pets in their familiar environment and stick to their usual routine as closely as possible. We’re careful with doors, gates and access to the home, and will always prioritise their safety. We’re also naturally clean, tidy and respectful of other people’s homes. With one of us working mostly remotely and the other hybrid, we’re around the house a lot, so pets will have plenty of company. We’ll keep you updated with photos and messages throughout your time away and get in touch promptly if anything unexpected comes up.

Will has been amazing in caring for our dog Pip whilst we’ve been away. Will is friendly, reassuring and conscientious. He made us feel very at ease and kept a us updated regularly. He even left the house spotless and tidy when we returned home. Thank you so much for making leaving our Pip easier and knowing he was being well cared for. Will was also super flexible when our flight got delayed on the way home. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

This was the 2nd time we had Charlotte over to care for our dogs Kappi and Luna. As before, she was caring and considerate, left the house spotless and ensured our nervous dogs were at ease and well loved. She also sends lots of photos and updates which is always appreciated. Would happily invite her back anytime!

Isobel did a lovely job caring for our dog and cat while were gone for about ten days. The boys were well looked after, she sent us lots of photos, house was in good shape when we returned - an excellent experience and we plan to work with her again if the opportunity arises.

Olivia was great with our anxious and hyper dog. She had an instant connection with her and brought a calming presence which helped our dog settle quickly. Great with communication, really punctual throughout and house left clean. We would love her to sit for us again.

I booked Amy to look after Harvey for 5 days , Harvey was relaxed with her straight away , which was great. Amy sent me messages and photos each day which I loved. She was so friendly and responded to questions straight away. I think Harvey had his best holiday with her so will definitely book Amy again ! Thankyou so much !! 🐾

Gigi has been amazing! 🤩 Really put me at ease as not used to leaving him. Loads of updates, pictures & keeping him active which really lit up my day when working away. Would definitely rebook and recommend. As well as truly caring for my top guy, Gigi’s communication has been really great right from our first interaction, which again is super reassuring. Five Stars!!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Charlotte house sat Bucky for a few nights and she was absolutely amazing! He's an anxious dog with a few quirks so I was a little worried about leaving him, but Charlotte was extremely patient and kept me updated regularly. She also left the house exactly as she'd found it! Highly recommend and will definitely book again :)

Oh my goodness, Jess and Sara! They were absolutely amazing at looking after our 5 month old working cocker Winnie! Communication was amazing, pictures all throughout the day and were just fantastic. They were more than happy to meet prior and get to know Winnie and we just knew we were leaving her in amazing hands. We will definitely be booking them again ♥️♥️♥️

Liang came to have 3 introduction visits as one of my girls is disabled and needs extra support with using her special wheels and also using incontinent pants. Liang managed her needs with the same levels of care and understanding as myself so I felt very comfortable and confident leaving her in his care. He was also great at caring for my other girl too. He is sensible thoughtful and practical and both the girls really like him. I knew as soon as he met them they would be ok with him as the older one generally barks at new people when they come into the house but as soon as Liang walked in he got down to their level and there was no barking just 2 very happy girls who wanted to get lots of attention from him. He is also very clean tidy and respectful around the house so when I came back from my trip everything was in good order. We will be very happy for him to care for the girls again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Bristol walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Bristol choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
