“Becky looked after our puppy at her house for the afternoon. Second time looking after him. He came home very happy and clearly had a great time. Brilliant care and communication again.”

“Liz looked after our young dog Bonnie whilst we were away for a weekend. She did an amazing job of entertaining Bonnie and getting her on some cooler morning walks, as it was super hot! She gave us regular updates on how Bonnie was doing and sent some lovely photos too. Would definitely recommend Liz!”

“Aleksandra was great at keeping me updated so I never felt I had to worry about how things were going. It seems our boy had a great time and was well looked after. Would use again.”

“Nina was fantastic, very attentive and adapted to our dogs individual needs. Leaving two young dogs with anyone is always nervy, but Nina did a great job, putting me at ease with photo and video updates and even gave some great advice for us going forward. Will certainly use again!”

“Josh was brilliant with our dog Parsley. Really great communication, he took on board everything we said and was attentive to Parsleys needs. Lots of good walks and parsley was clearly settled and happy relaxing at Josh's place too. We have already booked again.”

“Leanne was amazing! She got us booked in on short notice, her communication was great and she was really helpful throughout. I can tell that Spudley had a lovely time and felt really comfortable with her and her partner. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter!”

“Lucy & Rowan were amazing and super accommodating for me and Donut. Both kept in contact and it sounded like they had a lovely couple of days. Will definitely be using again :)”

“Dougal had a fabulous weekend with Gabby and Ash. They were extra careful with him in the hot weather and kept us updated with photos and updates so we felt really confident that he was safe, looked after and having a good time!”

“Our little dog Aluna was very happy with Debbie for her first overnight stay. Debbie kindly collected her to make it easier for Aluna (so she wasn't distressed when I left her) and took her for a short walk to settle her down before playing with her at her home. Debbie is warm and welcoming and treats her guest dogs as her own. She is quick to respond to messages and to answer any questions we had. We will happily send Aluna to stay with her again. Thanks Debbie.”

“Kate and her family were absolutely wonderful with Poppy! Since Kate works from home, Poppy had constant company, and she loved being spoiled by Kate's partner and teenage kids. Her large garden was perfect for relaxing. Communication was excellent throughout the stay—highly recommend Kate for anyone looking for a loving home environment!”

“Giedvile and her partner took great care of our dog, think she is actually a bit sad about being back with us today :) We received daily updates and photos to keep us in the loop and Giedvile was great with communication. Really great experience for our first time using Rover and would book again!”

“Great sitters. From initial contact they were very responsive, gave regular updates and were incredibly flexible and accommodating with timings and even extending overnight stay. Will definitely use again.”

Emily met me a couple of days before looking after my dog Peggy for a short walk which was great to help her settle for her first full day of day care. We got lots of updates through out the day and when I picked her up she'd clearly had a great time and is absolutely knackered. Thanks very much we will be back and would recommend.

Alex & Dom are incredible! This is the second time they’ve looked after Riley, and we couldn’t recommend them more. They cared for him during a heatwave and went above and beyond every day, sending us videos and updates showing just how well he was being looked after. They truly treat him like their own. They are, without a doubt, our number one choice for Riley!

Grace was great! I had to leave my dog with her twice and was really happy both times! I booked pick up and drop off as well, which went really smooth. My dog looked really happy and well taken care of! Snowy got along really well with Grace's dogs too, I am sure she loved having friends around :) Would book again if needed

Our dog had a great time with Gabrielle and her partner and they were so good at keeping in contact and giving us updates! We have a pretty unique dog, in that she has a few issues with her health but she's also very high energy, and they managed her excellently. Would 100% recommend and book again

Phoebe was excellent! She communicated with me throughout Captain’s stay and sent photos/updates. She was really good with him and listened to all the information I provided regarding his habits and routine. Captain was happy and had a great time :) I will use Phoebe again as she was trustworthy and really attentive. Thanks!

Pongo had a wonderful time with Beatrice and Igor, we receive regular updates on how he was doing and he looked so happy! Pongo fully made himself at home and we could relax while we were away knowing he was being spoilt and well looked after. Could not recommend enough!! Thank you Beatrice and Igor xx

Zia had an awesome 3-day stay with Tom and his partner! They were both so friendly and easy-going, and it was obvious from the start that they really love dogs. I got loads of photos and regular updates, which was brilliant and made me feel completely at ease. Zia looked so happy the whole time and came back relaxed, content, and clearly very well looked after. A huge thank you to both of them for taking such great care of our old lady. We wouldn't hesitate to book them again and would recommend you to anyone looking for a caring and trustworthy sitter!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
