“Dobby love staying with Elizabeth, and it’s great to have her around the corner for the future! Very communicative, great updates, and trust that Dobby is very cared for :)”

“Natalie was absolutely lovely and we had total confidence in her from the outset. She came to meet Ted a few days before he stayed with her and took the trouble to get to know him She was always quick to respond, and kept us updated with photos throughout his stay. Ted clearly had a lovely time with her and even came home with some new toys! We highly recommend her.”

“Snacks had a lovely time staying with Bonita for the night! She was fantastic at communicating in the lead-up, asking all the right questions and showing she really knows dogs well. During his stay she sent us great updates and photos of him having a wonderful time. Even though it was 30 degrees out, she made sure he stayed cool and hydrated, and her beautiful tucked-away garden was perfect for him to play safely. Snacks had so much fun. We’d happily book with Bonita again!”

“Becky was amazing from day one. Very proactive and friendly, kept in touch, had us over for a meet and greet, learned all the basics about Ben and sent us loads of updates. Ben seems to have really liked his time spent with her and we'll definitely reach out again to have her look after him 🖤 Thank you”

“I always feel very confident when I book boarding with Nina. My dog always comes home relaxed and well exercised, and we receive plenty of updates while we're away too. I can't fault Nina - she clearly takes great care of dogs that stay with her, and they feel really comfortable around her. Would definitely recommend, and of course will book again! :)”

“Leanne was amazing! She got us booked in on short notice, her communication was great and she was really helpful throughout. I can tell that Spudley had a lovely time and felt really comfortable with her and her partner. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter!”

“I was apprehensive about leaving my nervous chihuahua/cross with anyone for 24 hours but Synolda was perfect for him. She is so relaxed and has a natural empathy with dogs which my dog responded to immediately (this is very unusual!). It also helped that there were two other small dogs there to help him settle in and to play with in the Bark Park :) Synolda sent me regular updates and made the experience so much less stressful for us so we were able to enjoy our family event. I highly recommend Synolda and would take my dog to her again without hesitation.”

“Lucas and all his family were so lovely and brilliant with Eddie and Wilfred. Thorough and considered pre visit questions and information and regular updates on how they were doing. The boys absolutely loved their time with them and I felt very confident that they were being well cared for. Thank you and I will definitely be asking them again to care for them.”
“Amy was incredible, very communicative and great with my Dog Barry. Got sent photos and videos throughout the day and there were some difficult logistical bits to sort out which she handled wonderfully. I’ll definitely be using her again and couldn’t recommend her highly enough! 10 out of 10!”

“Aleksandra and Benjamin were great! Very responsive, and we received lots of photos and updates which kept our minds at ease! Will definitely be back with another request soon”

“Josh was amazing. Trevor stayed with him for a week after a meet and greet in the park. He treated Trevor as if he was his own and judging by the amazing photos he took, they both had a fun time! There were lots of trips to the park and plenty of enrichment activities in the home. I would definitely come back to Josh next time we need dog care.”

“Jackie and family were fantastic with Wally from start to finish. She made a real effort to understand his needs beforehand and ensured he felt completely at home during his stay. Communication was great, and she was very flexible with drop-off and pick-up, which made everything so easy for us. It’s clear she genuinely cares, and Wally came back relaxed, happy, and very well looked after. We felt totally confident leaving him in her care and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a safe, welcoming environment for their dog!”

“Ellie is an amazing sitter and very passionate about what she does! I booked last minute after a sitter pulled out and she was more than happy to take Amber on. Amber had the best time with her and was well looked after, she kept me updated each day so I knew she was in good hands! Will be definetly reaching out for another dog sit! 🐶”

“My dog had a fabulous time staying with Tom and Holly. They sent a good amount of updates and I felt very comfortable leaving my dog with them for a long weekend! I would definitely book with them again. Thanks ☺️”

“Lottie is brilliant - really kind, knowledgeable and considerate, clearly spent time with lots of different kinds of dog and has a great understanding of their needs and behaviour. My dog was looked so relaxed and happy during the stay, and obviously enjoying a lot of affection. Excellent communication and updates, and also very accommodating with a delayed pick-up. Would love to book again.”

“Amazing dog sitter, so accommodating given the last minute nature of my request. Arlo clearly felt completely at home and the whole experience was super smooth. I would highly recommend Gabriella as a pet sitter who goes the extra mile to ensure both pet and owner have a five star experience!”

“It was my first experience of using a sitter for my boy and I am so glad I found Nicole. An amazing experience from the beginning till the end. Nicole responded straight away, made me feel at ease. My boy Milo stayed with Nicole over night. Communication was brilliant as Nicole was updating me at all times through messages and pictures. Nicole treated Milo with so much respect and compassion. My boy returned home happy and relaxed in himself. Definitely will be going back to Nicole.”

“Kate and her family were absolutely wonderful with Poppy! Since Kate works from home, Poppy had constant company, and she loved being spoiled by Kate's partner and teenage kids. Her large garden was perfect for relaxing. Communication was excellent throughout the stay—highly recommend Kate for anyone looking for a loving home environment!”

Joshua was an absolute life saver when our dog sitter fell through at the last minute before our wedding. Joshua communicated well and was able to take Theo for the whole weekend. Joshua updated us with pictures and congratulated us on our wedding day. Theo was happy and content on ohr return which was great to see and Joshua said they'd had a lovely weekend. Would highly reccomend Joshua and will happily use him in the future.

Madeleine was great - would 100% ask her to look after Ginny again, and recommend her to anyone else. Ginny had a great time, as evidenced by lots of cuddly updates. Madeleine communicated quickly, was happy for us to see her house for the pre-meet, and asked all the important questions that reassured us that she would be comfortable with Ginny.

Great sitter, will definitely be booking again! Very communicative during the booking process & thank you for the updates during Juno's stay (puts your mind at ease as a slightly anxious dog guardian). It looked like she made herself at home at Rebecca's place straight away & came home the next morning for a big snooze after their early walk together.

Highly recommend Marie! She took such great care of our cockapoo, giving us lots of updates and loving him like her own! Her communication prior to the stay was amazing, she took the time to meet up beforehand so she could get to know Oatie and everything we do to keep things consistent for him. Thank you so much xx

Aoife is so kind and conscientious with the pets she cares for - my dog is always very happy to see her, and clearly had a lovely time staying over, while I got to enjoy total peace of mind for my trip. Great communication and updates as always. Would give more than five stars if I could!

Samantha was absolutely amazing looking after our dog, Bella, for 10 days while we were away. From the moment we left her, we felt completely reassured that she was in the best hands. We loved receiving regular photos and updates, and it was so lovely to see just how happy and settled Bella was. It genuinely felt as though she was being loved and cared for just as much as she would be at home, which meant we could relax and enjoy our holiday without worrying about her. Bella also got on brilliantly with Samantha’s dog, Murphy, and it was lovely to see them become such firm friends during her stay! We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Samantha to anyone looking for someone kind, caring and trustworthy to look after their dog. Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of Bella — she clearly had a fantastic holiday too! We will definitely be back. ❤️🐾
Bea was excellent! Left our pup Pepe with her for the week while we were away and he looked very happy :) Bea was really communicative and understanding - Pepe is reactive with other dogs so she took the time to understand how we try and minimise his reactivity, which was really lovely. Would definitely rebook and recommend!

Megan was such a lovely sitter! She was absolutely brilliant with communication and kept me updated throughout the whole stay, which gave me so much peace of mind. My dog looked so happy and settled with her, and it was clear she was having a great time. She stayed with her for five nights, and I honestly couldn’t be happier that I found someone like Megan. I would 100% book her again next time and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable and attentive sitter. Thank you so much, Megan! ❤️

Simone and her partner looked after Noodles at their place while I was on holiday. Noodles seemed very relaxed when I went to pick him up - he didn't even get up(!) Lift up to the apartment, which was great for my old greyhound. Great communication. Overall - really pleased and I would happily let Simone look after Noodles again.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming

- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
