“Katie is such a great person and was so welcoming, friendly, calm and positive about having my dog for the weekend. I knew Bella was in safe hands and could really enjoy my trip knowing that Bella was well looked after and happy. I would highly recommend Katie for anyone else who is thinking of going away and needs someone to look after their dog!”
“Having just used Rover for the first time, I can honestly say what a brilliant experience it has been. Feel very lucky to have found such a wonderful local to look after Rupert. Ajay is such a lovely young man. He clearly loves dogs and is very natural with them. He was really tuned in to Rupert's needs and checked in with us about anything that might affect him. Rupert seemed happy and well cared for, and we will definitely book Ajay again. Can't recommend him highly enough!”

“Nataya and her partner have recently looked after our American Bulldog Betsy. Betsy suffers with separation anxiety so needs someone to be at home with her at all times. Nataya and her partner were very accommodating and worked around Betsy. I received pictures throughout her stay with them and by the looks of things got spoilt. Very grateful for Nataya and her partner looking after Betsy as their own.”

“Toffee loved his weekend stay with Louise, as always. She made sure he kept cool with only very early and late walks and the use of a cooling mat as well. Louise sent photos through as well, so I knew Toffee was feeling at home. Would thoroughly recommend Louise as a very caring dog sitter.”

“I found Joyce at the last minute before my holiday, we arranged a meet and greet and straight away I knew Billy would be fine with her as within 5 minutes he was going to her for fusses! I left him for just over 3 weeks and I had regular updates and photos of Billy out on walks and playing. I would definitely recommend Joyce as a dog sitter, I know if I ever need anyone I shall always ask Joyce first.”

“Natalie and Jodie were brilliant with Benny and very welcoming towards him. I had lovely updates and photos. He looked really happy and relaxed with them. I will definitely be booking them, to look after Benny again. I would highly recommend.”

“Lucy was great with helping me along with my first booking through ROVER app. Very attentive and we had a meet & greet a month earlier which meant I knew Millie would be in a lovely safe and friendly family environment. Millie had a great time with Lucy sending me pictures that showed a chilled out Millie & a busy Millie . Made me feel happy knowing she was enjoying her day. I will be ever so happy to leave Millie with Lucy and her family again. ⭐️🤩”

“Phoebe was lovely and extremely accommodating of ours and Rusty’s needs. Rusty was well looked after and we got some lovely pics of him too. We would definitely book with Phoebe again :)”

“Louise did an amazing job of looking after our puppy! She took her on amazing walks and kept us updated. Our pup was very happy with her and her two dogs, would highly recommend her as a dog sitter. She also gave us some great advice too.”

“Highly recommend Mark and Helen for their fantastic care of my pesky little dogs for ten days. Pre visit was a great idea, they strolled in pre holiday with no qualms!”

“Fantastic care from Georgina and her family - lots of photos showing our dogs settling in, being walked and clearly enjoying their time, plus regular updates on how they were doing. So happy to be home with happy (and exhausted) dogs. Will definitely be using again”

“Bellatrix had a fabulous stay. It was our first time using a sitter and all my concerns were alleviated upon first meeting. Rachel and her family made sure Bella’s felt at home and she settled v quickly. Cannot recommend enough”

“Winter absolutely LOVED staying with Coraley! He's come back in fantastic spirits and full of beans! Honestly it was like a holiday for him so I won't feel bad about leaving him in the future! And the frquent picture and video updates are absolutely appreciated! 10/10 A*** Thank you!”

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
