“We left Arlo, our lovely black Labrador with Sol for 5 nights. Sol was very flexible with drop off and pick up times as our schedule changed a bit. Sol took fabulous care of Arlo, we really enjoyed getting our videos of Arlo out on walks and playing in her garden, we could tell he was having great fun! We would highly recommend Sol for taking such good care of our Arlo, we will most definitely use her again if we need further dog boarding. Thank you Sol!🐕🦺”

“Rosie had such a wonderful time with Jodie and her family. She was absolutely spoilt with plenty of walks and affection. We received lots of updates whilst we were away and communication was great. Very thankful to Jodie for accomodating our last minute request too.”

“Lovely lady, put me at ease straight away and I knew Teddy would be well cared for. Great communication and photos. We will see you hopefully next time we are in the area as Teddy would love to serenade you some more.😏”

“Bowie was so well looked after! Tanya kept us updated with lots of photos and messages, which gave us real peace of mind. He was happy, relaxed, and clearly had a great time when we picked him up. Thanks so much for taking such amazing care of our beagle. We’ll definitely be booking again! Nat, Pat & Bowie xx”

“We cannot recommend Lisa highly enough! We were initially very anxious about leaving Luna in someone else’s care after a previous bad experience at a dog kennel. Luna is a sensitive Vizsla—she can be nervous around other dogs, cautious around men, and isn’t comfortable around children—so finding the right sitter was incredibly important to us. We travelled 70 miles to make this work. From the start, Lisa was brilliant at building trust and forming a relationship with Luna. We were especially impressed that although Luna can be unsure around men, Lisa’s partner took the time to patiently build a bond with her, which made a huge difference. One of the things that really stood out to us was that Lisa only cares for one dog at a time. This gave us real peace of mind, as we had seen other sitters taking multiple dogs at once, which wouldn’t have suited Luna. While we were away, Lisa kept us regularly updated with photos and videos. This meant so much to us, especially as it was the first time we’d been apart from Luna for such a long time. The updates truly reflected Luna’s personality, and it was clear she felt comfortable, relaxed, and happy. Luna was exercised brilliantly, with plenty of great walks—perfect for such a high-energy dog. Lisa also maintained Luna’s usual routine, which really reassured us and helped ensure a smooth transition back home with no disruption. When we collected Luna, it was obvious how happy and settled she had been. She was relaxed, affectionate, and clearly had formed a strong bond with both Lisa and her partner. We would 100% recommend Lisa to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and attentive dog sitter. You will not regret it—and we will definitely be leaving Luna with her again in the future!”

“Deborah was amazing with Jessie. She really put my mind at ease whilst I was out of the country knowing she was in good hands. Will definitely book with her again in the future.”

“First time using Marie and Chunk had a great time with her and the family. Marie updated us every day with a message and photos and Chunk looked happy and relaxed in every photo. Will definitely us Marie again.”

“Natalie was absolutely lovely and we had total confidence in her from the outset. She came to meet Ted a few days before he stayed with her and took the trouble to get to know him She was always quick to respond, and kept us updated with photos throughout his stay. Ted clearly had a lovely time with her and even came home with some new toys! We highly recommend her.”

“Kate and her family were absolutely wonderful with Poppy! Since Kate works from home, Poppy had constant company, and she loved being spoiled by Kate's partner and teenage kids. Her large garden was perfect for relaxing. Communication was excellent throughout the stay—highly recommend Kate for anyone looking for a loving home environment!”

“Simba had a great time with Hannah! I really appreciate how well Hannah took care of him—Simba came home happy and completely relaxed. I’ve already booked Simba's future boarding with Hannah, and I fully recommend.”

“Michelle was a fabulous host! When I dropped our dog Lili, she warmly welcomed us and I could instantly tell she is a true dog lover and Lili will have a great time. Michelle sent me daily updates during Lili’s stay. I cannot recommend Michelle enough. I will definitely ask Michelle to look after Lili again in the future.”

About: I have looked after various dogs when their owners have gone on holiday. I have a lot of experience dog sitting and want to do more of this in my spare time. I am unavailable Tuesdays and Thursdays with voluntary work but other than that I have a lot of spare time to dedicate to looking after dogs. I have a large flat and no garden however we have a large country park directly outside with a 5 minute walk to the country side.
“Henry, our cocker spaniel, seemed very relaxed and happy after his two night stay, and I am confident he was very well looked after by Emoke and her partner. We appreciated the updates and photos, and definitely hope to become a repeat customer.”

“From beginning to end Charlotte was amazing. She put me at ease, talked me through everything and was to true to her word. My boys are both challenging and she could not have been more accommodating. I had no feelings of anxiety whilst I was away at a wedding, I was able to fully enjoy myself knowing my babies were well cared for. They had an amazing time with Charlotte and even got to play endlessly with her own lovely dog. I will definitely be using Charlotte's services again if I am holidaying in Wales, in the full knowledge that my boys will be safe, loved and enjoying themselves. Thank you so so much again Charlotte for taking care of us in a stressful situation that was very last minute! Vicki”

“Byron and family were friendly and welcoming and provided updates during Dave’s stay. When I picked him up he was happy and seemed very comfortable in his surroundings. Would definitely use again and would happily recommend!”

“Crystal took fantastic care of Archie, and it was clear he really enjoyed his stay. He settled in quickly, and we appreciated the regular updates that kept us reassured. She looked after him especially well during the heatwave, managing his love of sunbathing with great care. We wouldn’t hesitate to have him stay with her again.”

“Oliver was absolutely amazing with Harley, we had a meet and greet before Harley stayed with him for the weekend, which made Harley so comfortable with the home, surroundings and Oliver himself, he was excited when we dropped him off as soon as he saw Oliver. We had regular updates when we asked how he was, he went on walks, cwtched on the sofa, played ball and overall was very well taken care of. Oliver eased my anxiety so much for leaving Harley, he reassured me and confirmed my hope that he would take excellent care of my boy, he was safe and happy! We will absolutely book with Oliver again and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for high quality care for their furry loved ones!”

I couldn't be happier with the service Sula provided. She managed to get our dog 'Gus' booked in at very short notice, after being let down by another unreliable sitter. Gus settled in really quickly and seemed to really enjoy spending time with Sula. Communication was amazing throughout, and Sula really took her time to understand everything about his routines etc. Nothing was too much trouble. Gus returned home very relaxed and happy...I think he would have stayed with Sula if we let him 😀 A** service!!
Sol is the best! Crumble absolutely loves her stays at Sol’s… Crumble can be anxious/unsure in new environments, especially overnight, so before finding Sol we’d always feel nervous about her staying somewhere. Since the first time crumble stayed at Sol’s we completely feel at ease… to the point where we actually look forward to dropping crumble off because she loves her stays at Sol’s so much! Sol is amazing with Crumble, patient and caring and takes her on lots of varied walks. Couldn't recommend her highly enough, you can be confident your dog will feel at home at Sol’s :)

Honestly one of the most amazing people I’ve ever met, Harlow had the best time ever, I am a veteran and Harlow is more than just a family pup, he helps me through so much and this would have been the first time leaving him, I was worried but from day one Sol put me at ease with constant updates, pictures and videos, Sol was so accommodating and so so good with Harlow, five start does not do her justice. Thank you so so much Sol and I will be always using you when Harlow needs looking after. I highly recommend Sol for anyone with family pups to service pups. Absolutely TEN STARS 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming

- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Wales may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
