“Kate and her family were absolutely wonderful with Poppy! Since Kate works from home, Poppy had constant company, and she loved being spoiled by Kate's partner and teenage kids. Her large garden was perfect for relaxing. Communication was excellent throughout the stay—highly recommend Kate for anyone looking for a loving home environment!”

“Natalie was absolutely lovely and we had total confidence in her from the outset. She came to meet Ted a few days before he stayed with her and took the trouble to get to know him She was always quick to respond, and kept us updated with photos throughout his stay. Ted clearly had a lovely time with her and even came home with some new toys! We highly recommend her.”

“Heather is a natural dog mummy! We were nervous leaving Briar with her as she had never been left with anyone other than family before. Heather and her family were relaxed and welcoming, their home was perfect for our little dog. We had multiple updates, photos and videos that were reassuring and made our experience so positive. I would highly recommend Heather as a sitter and would definitely leave my furry princess with her again in the future. Our little dog had a fabulous time.”

“With it being Ambers first time away from us she she joined our family, we couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful, warm, friendly and playful environment for her to stay. Beth, Dan and Darcy really did make it a home away from home for her. So much so she didn’t want to leave lol! Beth and Dan are so lovely and even met with us before booking to make sure it was a right match for us all. During our time away Beth kept us up to date with messages and pictures of Ambers stay 🥰 It was so reassuring in knowing our not so little pup was in great hands and paws while we were away 🥰”

“Mark was fantastic. Kept us beautifully in touch and looked after our spaniel Coco wonderfully. She didn’t want to leave! Couldn’t have been better, highly recommend.”

“Nina was fantastic, very attentive and adapted to our dogs individual needs. Leaving two young dogs with anyone is always nervy, but Nina did a great job, putting me at ease with photo and video updates and even gave some great advice for us going forward. Will certainly use again!”

“Henry, our cocker spaniel, seemed very relaxed and happy after his two night stay, and I am confident he was very well looked after by Emoke and her partner. We appreciated the updates and photos, and definitely hope to become a repeat customer.”

“Leo was really well looked after by Lynette. He was really happy to and stay with her. She only had Leo and so he had lots of time and attention from her. Leo will definitely stay with her again. He obviously enjoyed being with her.”

“Nicola looked after Roxy our Rottweiler for 2 weeks whilst we were away. She gave us regular updates/photos etc and reassured us she was fine. She really listened to everything we told her too. Shes finally back with us today and shes in her usual chair snoring away like nothing ever happened. I would use Nicola again and definitely recommend her to anyone thinking to book!”

“Daisy has wonderful time with Marcus and loved it so much-she can back relaxed and happy and we will definitely be booking again! Thankyou so much for looking after her 🐶🐶🐶”

“Georgie, Nathan and lovely Nala took fantastic care of Milly. She had an overnight stay first, then we dropped her off for 9 days I was apprehensive until I watched her run into their house very excited. She's an old dog but has lots of energy she came home full of beans, they took her on great walks, I know she will miss them, until her next visit. Georgie follows your instructions to the letter, and likes to have as much information about your dog as possible. She sent photos with messages twice a day of a very happy Milly. We have found the perfect second home for Milly, we are delighted and content with the care they provide. Their home is extremely clean and organised, Milly is aloud cuddles on the sofa she sleeps in the bedroom with them. We feel lucky to have found them, thank you so much for the care you gave to Milly. Lynn and Bill”

“Sarah provided a few photo updates even though it was only a short stay. Communication before and during the stay was easy and Sarah was flexible with pick up times.”

“Bowie was so well looked after! Tanya kept us updated with lots of photos and messages, which gave us real peace of mind. He was happy, relaxed, and clearly had a great time when we picked him up. Thanks so much for taking such amazing care of our beagle. We’ll definitely be booking again! Nat, Pat & Bowie xx”

“Kristen was absolutely brilliant with Bilbo She welcomed a meet and greet session and made sure Bilbo was comfortable with her pets. I instantly felt comfortable in leaving our four legged family member in her care. She kept me updated with pics and how he settled on the first night. I would strongly recommend Kristen and would be looking to re book in the future.”

“We cannot recommend Lisa highly enough! We were initially very anxious about leaving Luna in someone else’s care after a previous bad experience at a dog kennel. Luna is a sensitive Vizsla—she can be nervous around other dogs, cautious around men, and isn’t comfortable around children—so finding the right sitter was incredibly important to us. We travelled 70 miles to make this work. From the start, Lisa was brilliant at building trust and forming a relationship with Luna. We were especially impressed that although Luna can be unsure around men, Lisa’s partner took the time to patiently build a bond with her, which made a huge difference. One of the things that really stood out to us was that Lisa only cares for one dog at a time. This gave us real peace of mind, as we had seen other sitters taking multiple dogs at once, which wouldn’t have suited Luna. While we were away, Lisa kept us regularly updated with photos and videos. This meant so much to us, especially as it was the first time we’d been apart from Luna for such a long time. The updates truly reflected Luna’s personality, and it was clear she felt comfortable, relaxed, and happy. Luna was exercised brilliantly, with plenty of great walks—perfect for such a high-energy dog. Lisa also maintained Luna’s usual routine, which really reassured us and helped ensure a smooth transition back home with no disruption. When we collected Luna, it was obvious how happy and settled she had been. She was relaxed, affectionate, and clearly had formed a strong bond with both Lisa and her partner. We would 100% recommend Lisa to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and attentive dog sitter. You will not regret it—and we will definitely be leaving Luna with her again in the future!”

You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
