“Bracken had a wonderful stay with Rachel whilst we were away. He was very well taken care of and we were sent updates and photos showing us how he was getting on. He enjoyed himself a lot.”

“Highly recommend Mark and Helen for their fantastic care of my pesky little dogs for ten days. Pre visit was a great idea, they strolled in pre holiday with no qualms!”

“Dominika and Adam have been amazing with Rosie. It was such a comfort knowing she was with such kind, reliable people who clearly love dogs. Rosie was so happy and settled, and we loved getting updates on her day-to-day adventures - especially her trips around the Cotswolds! We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for caring and trustworthy dog sitters, and we’ll definitely be using them again. Thank you both so much!”

“Absolutely fantastic, Georgina’s communication was brilliant and sent plenty of pics of Gus which really put us at ease. Gus looked relaxed and happy in every photo, and for a dog with anxiety was wonderful to see. When we picked Gus up he was one happy boy. We would definitely use Georgina again.”

“Huxley had the best time with Marcus, Mia and Bonnie. They were so welcoming and Huxley slotted straight into their family life. We got daily updates and photos which was so lovely. Could not have asked for a better set up! Not only has Huxley found a new best friend in Bonnie, he has also found a second family. Thank you so much and we will certainly use them again.”

“Kell deserves five stars, a medal, and possibly honorary dog status after his week with Cassie. He and his family clearly treated her like one of their own — she came back happy, well-fed, and with the unmistakable air of a dog who’s been on a better holiday than her owner. Plenty of walks, lots of care, and (judging by her contented expression) zero complaints from the guest of honour. Honestly, I’m not entirely sure she wanted to come home. Would absolutely trust Kell again — though I suspect Cassie may try to rebook herself first.”

“Can’t recommend Heather highly enough. Looked after our boy so well - a real home from home for him! Communication was great and we really appreciated the photos and updates of him enjoying himself! Thank you!”

“Remy had a great time with Daniela! She was very attentive to his needs and provided us with lovely updates during his time with her. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again.”

“I’m sure if my dog Lou could rate his time with Roy he’d give 10 out of 5! And so would I! If you want the best sitter for your dog - just contact Roy and don’t look any further!”

“Maddie was so wonderful with my 7-month-old puppy! It was his first time being away from us overnight, and she went above and beyond to make him comfortable, including sleeping on the couch next to his kennel when he wouldn’t settle. They had so much fun, and I got lots of photos (including a little Polaroid to keep, which was a lovely touch). We’d definitely book Maddie again in the future and highly recommend!”

About: I’ve taken care of all types of animals since a young age including dogs so I am very experienced in the daily care and responsibility that dogs require. I am reliable and genuinely enjoy spending time with animals. I understand that dogs need regular exercise, attention, and care, and I am committed to meeting those needs consistently. My goal is always to make dogs feel comfortable, happy, and secure while they are in my care. I have so much time for dogs and their lovely characteristics. Nothing starts my day better than seeing that happy waggy tail coming through the front door. I have my own dog Reggie who’s more than happy to meet and greet each dog that comes into our home and loves the companionship that each dog brings. I have two late junior/teen children that love and have a deep respect for all animals and are delighted when dogs come to stay. We all hope to meet your dog soon. I have a secured garden and lots of room for your dog to play. There are also lots of cosy spots for your dog to choose from to feel comfortable.
“Halley and Eddie were great - from the moment I dropped Trevor off I knew he was going to be well-looked after for the weekend. Halley was brilliant at communicating from the initial enquiry and throughout Trevor's stay, sending updates with pictures too which were really appreciated. Trevor loved his walks over at Cox's Meadow and came home happy and tired. Would highly recommend to all. Thank you Halley and Eddie.”

About: I’ve had pet dogs since I was 8 years old and have grown up looking after them, we had 5 of our own dogs at my family home, all of 3 different breeds. I am a huge cat and dog lover and love every single animal, looking after and being with animals is my passion! I also have lots of experience with cats after having and looking after them for years! I work full time but I am available at weekends from Friday evening to Sunday evening, I can also accommodate to weekday evenings too and boarding but will have to leave early morning in the week. I have a fenced and good sized garden, I have dogs of my own but if your dog needs to be alone, I can also accommodate to this and have them stay at my family house.
“James looked after our dog for an overnight and it went super well! Super recommend! The communication was great, we had updates and Bill came back super tired from playing with the other dogs - it was great!”

“We had no concerns at all leaving Anthea with Louise. Louise is a natural with dogs and we could instantly tell that Anthea would be treated like one of the family during her stay. We received lots of photos and messages and Louise asked us lots of questions to ensure she gave Anthea the best care possible. We will definitely book on with Louise next time we go away.”

“This was the first time Lulu has gone to a dog sitter and Beth and Dan did an amazing job with her. She had a lovely long weekend with them and had good walks and fuss. We are so pleased with the service provided.”

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
