“She was amazing with Kira and very flexible around my work hours, genuinely so sweet and accommodating definitely would recommend. This was my first time leaving Kira with a sitter and she made me feel so comfortable and at ease. Kira had a lovely time ❤️”

“Annie was brilliant with both our pets. Our cat is very timid but he came out of his shell and spent time with Annie. Our dog absolutely loved having her spend time with him and take him on a walk. Both our pets were thoroughly looked after as if they were her own and we would recommend Annie to anyone looking for a pet sitter”

“Lily looked after Koba over the weekend and did a fantastic job, he was in great hands. Loved the pupdates it was great to see Koba was having fun too and she left the house very clean and tidy. Will definitely be using Lily again, Thank You!”

About: Sam has had dogs all his life and loves spending time with them. Whether it’s walks, playtime, feeding, or overnight care, he'll make sure your dog is happy, safe, and well looked after. "I understand that every dog is different and will give them the care, attention, and exercise they need. I’ve been doing this on and off now with Rover for a few years and have loved it!! So many cool funny dogs I’ve met that I wouldn’t have had the chance to without this kind of work, hope to meet many more. 🙂" Lucy has had dogs when she was younger and has recently been a dog walker. When we are pet sitting we like to be with them as much as we can. We only pop out briefly as we don't like to think they are stressed and just I like to give them lots of attention. We don't have pets ourselves at the moment so your pet/s will have our full attention. We just enjoy being around them and respect the rules of the household we are looking after.
About: Hello! I have many years of experience as a dog/cat sitter and owner. Ive just moved into the area and would love to use my spare time to help other pet owners in need. I have a very flexible schedule and offer both drop in and overnight services. I'm kind, compassionate and will make sure your furry friend has everything they need to feel comfortable, safe and loved while you are away. I'm happy to travel within the FOD and answer any questions you may have before booking with me :) I currently only work 4 days a week so have a very flexible schedule. I can do multiple visits a day if needed and can provide much longer day visits during the weekends. I’m a caring and attentive pet sitter who prioritises your pet’s comfort, happiness and routine while you’re away. I take the time to understand their unique personality and respect whatever boundaries they need. My goal is to provide a calm, safe and reassuring environment so both you and your pet feel completely at ease during your time apart and you know you’re going to come home to a happy pet!
“Daisy really saved the day. We had a sitter cancellation last minute and she was unbelievably accommodating and easy to communicate with. She was really happy to help and Brutus took an immediate shine to her. Even though we hadn’t left Brutus with Daisy before it was obvious he was in really trustworthy hands and that’s everything. 100% will book again.”

“Hannah was great and Tony took to her straight away! Very communicative, sent lots of photos and updates and asked anything she wasn't sure of. Tony was very happy when I returned and I could tell he had been well looked after! I would definitely recommend Hannah and wouldn't hesitate to book again!”

About: I have grown up with dogs all of my life and have one myself. I’ve always enjoyed playing with them and getting to know them. I currently work shifts as a Health Care Assistant at Royal Preston Hospital but I am free on my days off. I can be flexible. I look after my Standard Poodle Florence who I take for a walk twice a day and play with her in the garden on my days off.

About: I have owned dogs of many breeds for over 30yrs and board dogs of all breeds through family and friends. As I no longer have my own dog this is the perfect balance for me to still have dogs in my life I currently work full time from home with a very flexible schedule, your dog would have a home from home experience and I will follow any routine you require I have an enclosed fenced and secure garden, there is a field very close by for walking and the dog will be allowed the freedom to use my home as its own
“Stephanie was fantastic leading up to the sit and visited numerous times to ensure our pup was familiar with her and they built a good relationship from these visits. She was very thorough with care details and clearly wanted to make sure she was caring for our dog in the right way. During the stay, she sent lots of updates and photos of walks and activities and it was lovely to see how much fun they were having together. On arriving home, our house looked untouched and the dog very well cared for! We will definitely be booking Stephanie again!!”

“Sophie looked after our dog Lachie and cat Billy for 2 nights whilst we were away at a wedding and we couldn’t fault her. We had loads of photos sent through daily, messages to let us know they were okay, the house was immaculate when we got back and the animals were happy! Will definitely look to re-book in the future and recommend”

“Fantastic, reassuring and kind. Our cockapoo Mylo doesn’t get left and Becky was amazing with him. We also got a couple of pics showing him nice and settled and having cuddles. Would be super confident to leave Mylo with Becky again after a long time of not leaving him alone. Thank you so much Becky.”

“Ross was superb with my aged sheepdog. He slept next to her bed downstairs and they became best mates for two weeks. Nothing was too much trouble and he insisted on accompanying her to hydrotherapy sessions. He is a very kind person and I would have no hesitation in recommending him as a house/pet sitter.”

“Sheryl was amazing in taking care of my two dogs. We don't leave them overnight often and they require regular medication so I was a little nervous, but she was so kind and caring that we immediately felt that they were in safe hands. Sheryl's communication was great and she provided updates which we really appreciated. Highly recommend, we will definitely reach out again in the future if we require her services again.”

“Holly got stuck straight in with our big Spanish Water Dog. She’s great with dogs and I had zero worries when in her care. I even got cute photo updates and my doggo was happy to greet her again the next day. Highly recommend”

“Emily was fantastic! I came home to a clean house with a very happy cat! I could tell he had been really well looked after and Emily was amazing at sending images and videos over everyday! She replied really quickly as well every time I messaged and was fantastic all around! Would absolutely recommend to anyone!”

“Shaylee might just be the best in the business! We booked our 1 year old cocker spaniel Winnie to stay with Shaylee whilst we were on holiday for 4 days. It was a late booking and there was never a problem too big or too small with Shaylee. We received regular updates and pictures which made us feel reassured. Shaylee went above and beyond with looking after Winnie and I honesty can’t speak highly enough of the service Shaylee provides.”

About: We understand from having dogs who do not like being left how important it is to have them cared for in a home environment. Our dog has full run of the house, sleeps on the bed and sofa and has three walks a day. My husband, Mark and I work from home and regularly look after friends pets when they go away from home. Recently, we looked after a springer spaniel for 6 weeks. However, our daughter is a vet so we understand that each dog has different needs and we would maintain any specific routine for your dog. Around 7 in the morning we go for our first walk of the day , then feed breakfast. Then another walk at lunchtime and we finish with an evening walk followed by supper. Our large garden is fully enclosed and dogs are not left on their own. Happy to follow a similar routine to what they have at their home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.

- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Forest of Dean choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
