“George looked after our two dogs while we were at a weekend family event. Reliable, kept us very well informed throughout and the dogs were very calm and well looked after when we returned. Will definitely use George again.”

“We are so grateful to Emma who took on the care of our 4 months old Spangold puppy overnight. Emma knows so much more than we do about looking after a puppy and Ted was extremely well cared for, and stimulated! She took him for walks, carried out some training activities and gave him lots of attention and cuddles throughout the day. She also kept us updated with photos and messages which was very reassuring. We will definitely be asking Emma to look after Ted again!!”

“Annie was brilliant with both our pets. Our cat is very timid but he came out of his shell and spent time with Annie. Our dog absolutely loved having her spend time with him and take him on a walk. Both our pets were thoroughly looked after as if they were her own and we would recommend Annie to anyone looking for a pet sitter”

“Thank you so much for looking after David, and for leaving the house spotless! We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. We felt so comfortable leaving her, and we really appreciated the daily photos. We are just a little disappointed that David seems to miss her best friend, more than she missed us… 10/10 would recommend, and we will rebook when we go away again! Thanks Daniel!”

“Lucy cared for my dogs while I was away for a long weekend and on my return they appeared happy, relaxed and well-looked after. She was patient with both of my dogs, who have varying needs, and they clearly warmed to her. She is friendly and understanding, kept my home clean and communicated clearly ahead of the sitting. She was reliable, caring and professional throughout - I wouldn't hesitate to book again and I recommend her if you want someone who puts you at ease and can handle dogs that need that extra level of patience.”

“Harry was a great sitter for my dog again. He looked after him really well, was understanding with the dog's needs and provided all the walks etc needed for an energetic animal! My place was left clean and tidy as well. Also grateful for Harry being so flexible and understanding with the changes I had to make in the booking process - it's much appreciated. Definitely recommended!”

“Would highly recommend Jane, she did a brilliant job looking after our house and dog , Bea for five weeks . We received regular updates and pictures which made it very clear Bea was enjoying lots of lovely walks and very happy spending time with Jane at home. The house was beautifully clean and tidy when we got back and Bea looked amazing. We have already booked her for our next holiday.”

“Madison was fantastic! She kindly agreed to look after my dog, River, on fairly short notice and stayed at my house while I was away. River had such a great time with her – it was clear she was well cared for and given lots of attention. She also left my home lovely and clean and well looked after, which was such a thoughtful touch to come back to. I’d definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring sitter, and I’d be happy to book with her again!”

About: I have been working as professional cat sitter for nearly 10 years now and have enjoyed building relationships with both the cat clients and their owners, I'm now ready to expand my offering to dogs in the Stroud area and beyond. I've had pets nearly all my life, some dogs as young girl and always cats.... I was an original cat girl until our beautiful beagle 'Cookie' won my heart in 2021. I'm really confident with most dogs now and often sit or walk our neighbours' when needed. As a puppy, Cookie gave us butter wouldn't melt looks but never a dull moment. Both myself and husband immersed into the world of dog training, doing local puppy school and programmes in Surrey that would ensure we can be 'benevolent leaders' who incentivise our pup to be well behaved and off lead with the right rewards. We're always complimented on how good she is so many public settings and how that's not what you'd expect from her breed. Another thing that is super important to understand about creating a good relationship with dogs is enrichment, so at home we spend a lot of time not only walking our girl but creating games and 'sniffaris' finding opportunities for her to seek out food around the garden or house to calm her down and keep her happy. I'd love to offer these sorts of activities to your dog if you think they'd like it. I know for many dogs it's important to maintain a routine. As a pet sitter I try to ask lots of questions early on, getting to know you and your little buddy's needs. I'm confident in following instructions, remembering details and administering simple medication if needed on time. I work part-time and mostly from home so have a lot of flexibility in my schedule to come and walk your dog or work from your home if that's preferred. I'd be happy to make a regular appoint to walk or sit your dog or be flexible as needed. If your dog comes to our house it is safe and has been escape proofed. If coming to your home, I'd be sure to find out about keys, locks and alarms ahead of time and can always follow instructions in this regard.
“I really can’t recommend Holly enough. She looked after my pup and my older dog whilst we were away on holiday. She took care of everything. And I don’t say that lightly. She had only previously met the girls briefly, but was a natural with them. Holly checked in with me daily, updating me with how the girls were getting on. She sent me photos of them on their walks, in the garden and snuggled up with her 🥰. This was so reassuring and I felt like I could relax and enjoy my holiday knowing they were in such good hands. She also took care of our home. She left the house immaculate and even double checked when bin day was, so we didn’t miss out. Holly was fantastic and we hope she’s be happy to help us again in the future 🙂 highly recommend. Thanks Holly.”

“Couldn’t recommend Steve highly enough! Our dog had the best time with him whilst house sitting for the week and clearly has been very well looked after. Steve was incredibly thoughtful and went above and beyond to accommodate some last minute requests. Thank you so much Steve!”

“Lovely guy, very calm & pleasant. Met Tim prior to him staying which we really liked. Truffle seemed to take well to him too. Left the house nice & clean & didn’t feel we worried at all during our weekend away. Thank you Tim :)”

“Thank you. Bea for your wonderful support in taking care of our three dogs for the day whilst we were at a family funeral. Your understanding, timing, flexibility, patience and kindness were so appreciated by us all. The dogs loved you and were very relaxed. We would definitely recommend you to anyone looking for a professional pet sitter.”

“The awesome foursome love Ash. This is the second time Ash has looked after our precious babies. The instructions I left were followed perfectly and there was never a reason for me to worry about them. We got regular updates but not too many either. We are very happy with Ash and will definitely be using Ash again”

“Fiona was a delight to deal with and in all the arrangements she went out of her way to be helpful and ensure my dog, Lilly and cat, Daisy were happy and comfortable with her. She left my home spotless. I would thoroughly recommend her to anyone looking for a house sitter.”

“We reached out to Alice as our previous sitters were unavailable but we will now look to use Alice in the future. She come round to meet us and the dogs first and stayed at our house for 8 days, keeping the house clean and tidy when we arrived home and most importantly, the dogs were well looked after and she followed all our instructions. Our dogs are 12 and 10 so need a little more attention with medication and specific walks but this was not a problem with Alice.”
“We just got home from a trip and couldn’t be happier. Our Issey and the house are looking great and as if we never left. We will definitely be booking with Harriet again and couldn’t recommend her enough.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Cotswold walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cotswold choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
