“Daniel came to cat sit for our two fur babies for a week. He understood how special they are to us and made every effort to reassure us and understand their individual quirks and requirements. We felt very secure with the regular updates and photos and Daniel always responded promptly which added to the trust. Daniel took great care of our house and everything was left tidy. We would absolutely book him again and fingers crossed he is available for our next trip. Thank you so much Daniel!”

“George looked after our two dogs while we were at a weekend family event. Reliable, kept us very well informed throughout and the dogs were very calm and well looked after when we returned. Will definitely use George again.”

“Sophie recently looked after Joey in our home for 10 days. Being a lab of just over a year, he is extremely busy and demanding of attention. She did an amazing job, taking him out on regular long walks and keeping him occupied with games. She kept us updated regularly with photos and he was clearly having the time of his life with her. When his food delivery was late, she went out of her way to go to the shops to buy more. Our home was also clean and tidy when we returned. I would not hesitate to book Sophie in the future. She is trustworthy, reliable and a lovely person, with a clear love of dogs!”

“Shannon is a very sweet and caring sitter. I can tell she took good care of my boys as they were quite relaxed when I got home and she took time to read my instructions on walking, routine and food etc. One of my dogs can be quite nervous around strangers but she has a very gentle presence so I knew he would be fine with her. Would definitely book again in future 🙂”

“Emma was very confident and competent at taking care of our overexcited and oversized black labrador puppy, keeping him entertained and engaged, continuing his daily training in our garden, and giving him lots of attention when we couldn't be with him. She kept us updated with photos and messages, and he seemed very happy and stress-free when we returned home. We would highly recommend Emma and would definitely book her again. Thank you!”

“Harry was a great sitter for my dog again. He looked after him really well, was understanding with the dog's needs and provided all the walks etc needed for an energetic animal! My place was left clean and tidy as well. Also grateful for Harry being so flexible and understanding with the changes I had to make in the booking process - it's much appreciated. Definitely recommended!”

“Harley is definitely missing Anna. She went on plenty of adventures with her. We had great contact from Anna with photos to show a very happy Harley. We will definitely be using Anna again!”

“Julie was great with Cleo! She walked and fed her as agreed and we were sent plenty of updates throughout the day. Julie was highly communicative throughout the whole booking process and it’s clear she really loves dogs! Highly recommend. Will use her again if we’re back in the area.”

About: I have had a dog for 11 years, but sadly as she passed away. I live in the Cotswolds and work full time but am flexible with remote working. I love all animals, any size any breed and look forward to giving them lots of attention! I used to be a frequent user of rover, and look forward to getting back into it! I'm currently working long days from home, so I am very flexible and we could both do with lots of walks as I finish my exams. I like to get out the house for even 5 minutes every couple hours while working so it would be great for both dog & I! I am experienced with caring for others dogs, both in boarding and house-sitting. I have a very clean all-female home, which I share with 4 other close friends. I live close to parks, and also like have easy routes to Chorlton nature reserve, Sale Water park and other nearby areas for longer walks.

“Madison was fantastic! She kindly agreed to look after my dog, River, on fairly short notice and stayed at my house while I was away. River had such a great time with her – it was clear she was well cared for and given lots of attention. She also left my home lovely and clean and well looked after, which was such a thoughtful touch to come back to. I’d definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring sitter, and I’d be happy to book with her again!”

“Annie was brilliant with both our pets. Our cat is very timid but he came out of his shell and spent time with Annie. Our dog absolutely loved having her spend time with him and take him on a walk. Both our pets were thoroughly looked after as if they were her own and we would recommend Annie to anyone looking for a pet sitter”

“Sian helped us out near the end of a very tricky week, and we only wish we'd found her sooner! Absolutely lovely person and our pup Dillon took to her straight away! Would highly recommend!”

“Would highly recommend Jane, she did a brilliant job looking after our house and dog , Bea for five weeks . We received regular updates and pictures which made it very clear Bea was enjoying lots of lovely walks and very happy spending time with Jane at home. The house was beautifully clean and tidy when we got back and Bea looked amazing. We have already booked her for our next holiday.”

“Sheryl was amazing in taking care of my two dogs. We don't leave them overnight often and they require regular medication so I was a little nervous, but she was so kind and caring that we immediately felt that they were in safe hands. Sheryl's communication was great and she provided updates which we really appreciated. Highly recommend, we will definitely reach out again in the future if we require her services again.”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter than Lily. She looked after our dog, Benji, for two weeks and gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. Throughout our holiday, Lily kept us updated with regular messages and lovely photos, which meant so much to us and allowed us to truly relax and enjoy our time with family. Her communication was excellent from start to finish. What really stood out was how caring and thoughtful she was. During an unexpected hot spell, she even brought her own fan to our house to make sure Benji stayed comfortable, as we didn’t have one available. She also adjusted his walking times to avoid the hottest parts of the day, always putting his wellbeing first. Lily went above and beyond in every way. She was incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely cared about both Benji and us. Knowing he was in such safe and loving hands made all the difference to our trip. We would wholeheartedly recommend Lily to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and professional pet sitter. Thank you, Lily – Benji can’t wait to see you again!”

“Our chihuahua Ziggy really enjoyed being looked after by Kate overnight. She took him for walks and sent us regular updates while we were away. Kate is very reliable and responds quickly during the booking process. We have already booked her again!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Cotswold walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cotswold choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
