“We couldn't have asked for a better dog sitter! Chelsea's communication was brilliant and gave me updates throughout her stay and the house was left very clean and tidy. Our dog Goose immediately loved her and enjoyed lots of cuddles and play time! She took the time to learn about Goose to make sure that all of his needs were met so we felt completely comfortable leaving our dog with her. Will definitely use Chelsea again and highly recommend her!”

“Lydia arrived on time, and it was clear Ivy was delighted to see her again after the "meet and greet". She sent photos, and let me know that Ivy had taken her tablets, ( this sometimes takes a few minutes gentle encouragement). She played with Ivy, sent pictures of walks. I would happily recommend her and would book her again myself to care for Ivy.”

“Madison was fantastic! She kindly agreed to look after my dog, River, on fairly short notice and stayed at my house while I was away. River had such a great time with her – it was clear she was well cared for and given lots of attention. She also left my home lovely and clean and well looked after, which was such a thoughtful touch to come back to. I’d definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring sitter, and I’d be happy to book with her again!”

About: Daily routine care for my pet rabbit and experience with cat sitting and occasional dog sitting for friends and family. I have also had various small pets previously. I’ve recently left education and am now working part-time with minimal commitments through the week so I am available for both long and short stays! I love animals and give them my full attention and respect, lots of hugs and cuddles! I’m quite active and hyper aware of my surroundings meaning that I’m always looking out for anything that would put me or the pets in harms way.

“Jayne was absolutely fantastic looking after our two dogs during her overnight stay. From the moment we met her, she was warm, professional, and clearly cared about making sure both the dogs and we felt comfortable. She took excellent care of our dogs, keeping them happy, well looked after, and settled while we were away. We returned home to two very content pups and could tell they had received plenty of attention and care. Jayne was also incredibly respectful of our home. Everything was left spotless, clean, and tidy, and she treated the house as if it were her own. The attention to detail was exceptional — she even folded the ends of the toilet rolls into neat little triangles! It was such a thoughtful touch and showed the pride she takes in what she does. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Jayne to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and reliable dog sitter. We will definitely be booking her again in the future.”

About: I’m a very experienced and reliable pet sitter with an extensive background in house and pet sitting across multiple platforms. I’ve spent years looking after both cats and dogs, including periods of full-time sitting around the world, and I now also offer dog walking and drop-in visits for both cats and dogs. I’ve cared for many different pets, from senior cats and shy rescues to high-energy Border Collies and laid-back Bulldogs. I’m able to adapt to different personalities, routines, and needs, and I always make sure each pet feels safe, relaxed, and well looked after. It's my top priority! I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and treat every pet as if they were my own. Please note: I operate within a 2-hour arrival window for cat drop-ins to allow for efficient scheduling when I have multiple bookings. My main job is exclusively online (I've been a freelance translator and proofreader for over 10 years), and I set my own working hours, so I am able to do walks and drop-ins at any time (and several times) during the day, offering you the flexibility you need. I have several years of house-sitting and pet care experience, with consistent 5 star reviews highlighting both my pet care and how well I look after owners’ homes. Some of these reviews are available in my gallery. When caring for pets in an owner’s home, I stick to their usual routine to keep things as familiar and stress-free as possible. I take time to understand each pet’s needs. I’m respectful of your home, clean and tidy, and keep you updated with regular messages and photos so you always know how your pet is doing. With me, you can rest assured that your pet(s) will be in safe hands and will be loved and well looked after. I love animals, and their happiness, safety and wellbeing is always my first priority!
“Megan was thoughtful and considerate of my dog and her needs. Her communication was excellent and she shared news and photos during her stay and kept me in the loop about everything. I definitely got what I asked for and came home to a happy dog who had been well looked after. Thank you Megan x”

“Bea was a delight. The dogs were very happy when we returned after a week away. Very neat and tidy and lots of communication too! Would definitely recommend and are planning to book again in the future!”

“Both dogs quickly took to Clare, especially my German Shepherd who can be quite shy with strangers. Clare sent plenty of updates and photos that showed dogs were happy and having a good time and they were clearly not unhappy when we returned home. House was left spotless so will definitely use Clare again.”

“Jo is amazing 🤩 she saved me filling in last minute notice, my furry friend loved her the moment she walked through the door they was bonding together and playing, 😃 Jo sent me regular updates videos and pics I couldn’t of asked for more she was absolutely perfect. So pleased and for sure will use her services again and recommend her. Great great great 👍🏼”

About: Hey, I'm Sarah, 40 yrs old, I love all animals, I have since the day I was born, never been without an animal in my life and I couldn't imagine my life without having a furbaby. I am now a single mum to a beautiful 2 yr old daughter. I have 1 gorgeous/crazy indoor cat called Scarlett. I charge £13 per visit for cat sitting. Please message me if you would like to know more.
“We're so delighted to have found Alison! She had our terrier to stay and took all of her funny little habits and routines in her stride. Luna had a fab time with lots of walks and cuddles and we got daily updates which was lovely. I’d highly recommend Alison to anyone and we’ll definitely be rebooking 😊”

“Excellent again. Archie was so chilled and relaxed when we came home, Bradley gave us a detailed debrief of the evening including food and activity (or in this case lack of!). The fact Archie felt relaxed enough with Bradley to sleep for the 5 hours next to him on the sofa goes to show how good Bradley is at making your beloved pooch feel at ease. Thank you Bradley!”

“Brittany was absolutely fantastic! She took such great care of Ziggy and we actually relaxed on holiday. We would highly recommend using her and will definitely use her again in the future. Happy customer, happy Ziggy.”

About: I have over 6 years’ experience living with and caring for dogs in a family home and regularly look after my parents’ dog in my own home. I’ve also helped care for pets for family and friends, including feeding, walks, playtime and keeping to their usual routines. I genuinely enjoy being around animals and understand that every pet is different. My home is already well set up for pets and I know how important it is for owners to feel comfortable knowing their pet is safe, happy and well looked after while they’re away. I am mostly available for boarding and sitting over the weekend but my partner also works from home and has flexible working arrangements during the week and would be able to look after a pet from our home where needed or come and visit your pet to let them out for loo breaks and take them for walks. My partner and I dog sit frequently at my own home so the house is safe and well equipped for dog/pet sitting. There is nothing particularly fancy I would be concerned about a pet damaging we have been used to all kinds of messes. The house is locked, there is plenty of clear floor space and we have a sizable fully fenced off garden that a dog can be let outside freely without need for close monitoring. I am confident dog sitting in other homes also, being responsive to any mess, leaving the home in good condition and making sure the owners dog or cat is looked after and feels relaxed.
About: After the sudden passing of my soul dog, Teddy, in August of 2024, I’ve found so much peace when with other dogs. I’d like to say I’m a warm-hearted, genuine and caring animal lover with a specific soft spot for dogs. I’ll always favor a dog over a human - sorry! I work part time, mostly just weekends currently, so I have a lot of spare time in the weekday that I would love to spend helping you out with your furry friends! I have a lovely fenced garden with plenty of space, and am more than happy to adjust to any requirements your furry friend might need! Same goes for home visits, any requirements needed is absolutely fine by me - just let me know!

Pet owners share their Rover experiences - Swindon
We had a fantastic experience with Lydia and wouldn't hesitate to book again. Communication was excellent throughout, with regular updates that gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. Most importantly, our dog came home happy, relaxed, and clearly very well cared for. It was obvious from the start that Lydia is reliable, trustworthy, and genuinely loves dogs. Knowing our dog was in such good hands made all the difference, and we're incredibly grateful for the care and attention she provided. Highly recommended!
We reached out to Alice as our previous sitters were unavailable but we will now look to use Alice in the future. She come round to meet us and the dogs first and stayed at our house for 8 days, keeping the house clean and tidy when we arrived home and most importantly, the dogs were well looked after and she followed all our instructions. Our dogs are 12 and 10 so need a little more attention with medication and specific walks but this was not a problem with Alice.
Alex always takes excellent care of my dog Archie. She is friendly, caring and very responsible - follows his normal routine, gives his medication and keeps me updated with lots of cute pictures. She also makes sures she looks after the house too, watering plants and putting my bins out.

Megan was thoughtful and considerate of my dog and her needs. Her communication was excellent and she shared news and photos during her stay and kept me in the loop about everything. I definitely got what I asked for and came home to a happy dog who had been well looked after. Thank you Megan x

Olivia was an excellent dog and house sitter. She looked after our two with care, and with the sort of kind enthusiasm that the dogs love. She was not phased by a last minute dog guest joining the two residents, and took it all in her stride. We came back to a tidy house, happy dogs, and watered plants. We felt confident in Olivia, and she was excellent. She communicated well, was engaged, listened to our routines, and has been great.

Amelia was a delight to have to look after Monty. From initially contacting her to the meet and greet, all went smoothly and on the day she was booked to dog sit she arrived on time. Amelia was exceptionally good with Monty playng with him when required and feeding him at the requested time. When we arrived home after 11 hours away he was fully content and happy to be in Amelias company. Amelia is polite and professional in her manner and we would have no hesitation to book her again when we require someone to look after Monty.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Swindon choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
