Alex stayed at our house to look after Murphy while we were away for the week. Murphy usually visits Alex a few times a month to be looked after and it’s clear he loves her from how excited he was when she arrived!! Seeing how happy he was gave us such peace of mind when we were away. We looked forward to our daily photos of what he’d been up to, and we knew he was being so well taken care of. Without a doubt we’d leave Murphy with Alex again in the future, she’s fantastic with him.

Madison was great with our 2 dogs for an overnight stay. Gave me full reassurance they were in very safe hands and they got a lot of fuss! I came home to 2 very happy dogs. I don’t often leave them but I felt completely at ease and able relax. Thanks so much - they look forward to seeing you again soon!! 🐾🐾

About: I’m an experienced and reliable pet sitter with an extensive background in house and pet sitting across multiple platforms. I’ve spent years looking after both cats and dogs, including periods of full-time sitting, and I now also offer dog walking and drop-in visits for both cats and dogs. I’ve cared for many different pets, from senior cats and shy rescues to high-energy Border Collies and laid-back Bulldogs. I’m able to adapt to different personalities, routines, and needs, and I always make sure each pet feels safe, relaxed, and well looked after. It's my top priority! I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and treat every pet as if they were my own. My main job is exclusively online (I've been a freelance translator and proofreader for over 10 years), and I set my own working hours, so I am able to do walks and drop-ins at any time during the day, offering you the flexibility you need. I have several years of house-sitting and pet care experience, with consistent 5 star reviews highlighting both my pet care and how well I look after owners’ homes. Some of these reviews are available in my gallery. When caring for pets in an owner’s home, I stick to their usual routine to keep things as familiar and stress-free as possible. I take time to understand each pet’s needs. I’m respectful of your home, clean and tidy, and keep you updated with regular messages and photos so you always know how your pet is doing. With me, you can rest assured that your pet(s) will be in safe hands and will be loved and well looked after. I love animals, and their happiness, safety and wellbeing is always my first priority!

Aaron came to look after our pugs with his son Seth. They were amazing! Very responsive and kept us up to date with lots of photos and updates, never needed to chase him for anything. One of our pugs is a bit shy and nervous but Aaron and Seth were very patient with her and she soon warmed up to them! They got lots of treats and scratches, I would definitely recommend Aaron to anyone looking for a reliable and thoughtful sitter who truly loves dogs. 5 stars!🌟

Jayne was excellent when looking after our 11 month old Max. We would definitely recommend her as a dog sitter. We booked a last minute sitting with Jayne and because we couldn't do a face to face meeting beforehand, Jayne made sure we had a video call so she could introduce herself, learn all about Max and ourselves and make sure we were comfortable. On the day, Jayne was wonderful with our pup. She sent us regular updates to ease our minds and it was clear that Max had a lovely time with her. She let us know what he got up to and if there was anything we needed to be aware of before she left. We are definitely going to be asking Jayne to dog sit for us again in the future!

About: Daily routine care for my pet rabbit and experience with cat sitting and occasional dog sitting for friends and family. I have also had various small pets previously. I’ve recently left education and am now working part-time with minimal commitments through the week so I am available for both long and short stays! I love animals and give them my full attention and respect, lots of hugs and cuddles! I’m quite active and hyper aware of my surroundings meaning that I’m always looking out for anything that would put me or the pets in harms way.

Lydia arrived on time, and it was clear Ivy was delighted to see her again after the "meet and greet". She sent photos, and let me know that Ivy had taken her tablets, ( this sometimes takes a few minutes gentle encouragement). She played with Ivy, sent pictures of walks. I would happily recommend her and would book her again myself to care for Ivy.

About: I’ve been caring for dogs for over 5 years and genuinely love spending time with them. During this time I’ve looked after dogs of different breeds, sizes, and personalities, so I understand that every dog has their own needs and routine. I’m patient, attentive, and always make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and happy while their owners are away. Whether it’s long walks, playtime, feeding, or just giving them plenty of attention and cuddles, I treat every dog like they’re my own. I’m also reliable and responsible, and I always follow the owner’s instructions carefully to make sure your pet gets the best possible care. I work from home 3 days a week and then the other two days I do volunteer work local to wear I live so am able to come back a fourth through out the day. I walk everyday so always love when I have some company. I have a spacious flat where your dog can feel at home. I do not have a garden but am near lots of fields so we’d have plenty of places to walk too.

About: My first experience with taking care of dogs was when I was 8 with two rescue german shepherds. They were lush and taught me a lot of how to take proper care of a pet, especially when there may be behavioural issues present from past mistreatment. I have been a dog person ever since! Over the years I have lended a hand many times to friends and family to help take care of their dogs which have all ranged in various sizes and ages. I love to walk and am more than happy to do so with a lovely pup (or few) in tow. I currently work full time but am available all day (between 8am and 6pm) on Sundays and Mondays. Additionally, I am available between 5pm and 8pm on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays. If care the need is outside of these hours then please message anyway and hopefully we can work something out. Your pet's care and safety are my top priority. I will follow your instructions carefully, keep routines consistent, and make sure every visit is calm, safe, and enjoyable. I understand the importance of making sure your pet is cared for at the utmost and will send pictures/updates of your pet at any frequency that makes you the most comfortable so you can see how we are getting on!

About: After the sudden passing of my soul dog, Teddy, in August of 2024, I’ve found so much peace when with other dogs. I’d like to say I’m a warm-hearted, genuine and caring animal lover with a specific soft spot for dogs. I’ll always favor a dog over a human - sorry! I work part time, mostly just weekends currently, so I have a lot of spare time in the weekday that I would love to spend helping you out with your furry friends! I have a lovely fenced garden with plenty of space, and am more than happy to adjust to any requirements your furry friend might need! Same goes for home visits, any requirements needed is absolutely fine by me - just let me know!

Olivia was an excellent dog and house sitter. She looked after our two with care, and with the sort of kind enthusiasm that the dogs love. She was not phased by a last minute dog guest joining the two residents, and took it all in her stride. We came back to a tidy house, happy dogs, and watered plants. We felt confident in Olivia, and she was excellent. She communicated well, was engaged, listened to our routines, and has been great.

Amelia was a delight to have to look after Monty. From initially contacting her to the meet and greet, all went smoothly and on the day she was booked to dog sit she arrived on time. Amelia was exceptionally good with Monty playng with him when required and feeding him at the requested time. When we arrived home after 11 hours away he was fully content and happy to be in Amelias company. Amelia is polite and professional in her manner and we would have no hesitation to book her again when we require someone to look after Monty.

FAQs for House Sitting - Swindon

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Swindon on Rover is £41.4 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 1,969 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Swindon. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Swindon walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Swindon choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
