Our dog Magi loved her stay with Lucy and her family. Communication was fantastic from the outset and throughout her stay. We received picture updates dialy, which put us at ease having never left our dog with anyone else other than family. I would highly recommend and would definitely use this dog sitter again. Many thanks Lucy and family. 😀

So very kind and accommodating. Bronwen took our dog on beautiful long walks and wasn’t phased by his boundless energy. She sent lots of lovely photos of their fun together. Bronwen made sure she kept his usual home rules and routine to avoid confusion. Would highly recommend and would definitely use again! Thank you

Julie was an excellent pooch sitter for our nervous chihuahua. He INSTANTLY loved Julie, she has a calm and nurturing demeanour and our dog was at ease the moment she opened the door (where usually he is quite nervous with people he has never met before). Julie was excellent to communicate with, she was happy to meet our dog at her home for us to ensure that he was acquainted with her and felt comfortable, we felt very confident to leave our dog with her following this visit, her home is secure and homely; a home from home for your pet’s visit. Thank you for taking the best care of our pooch Julie, he returned home content and calm and visibly well cared for. I highly recommend Julie to take care of your pet. I will definitely be booking our pooch in for a stay with Julie again in the future. Thank you Julie.

Abigail and Jose hosted our rescue pup for a trial night which was his first time staying away from home since we’ve had him. Their care and attention to detail was phenomenal and instantly made us and Tiggy feel safe and comfortable. So willing to work around our dogs needs and he had the most amazing time, he wanted to stay and go on another scenic walk in the countryside. ☺️

My big German shepherd/malinois stayed with Alisha and Sean. They cared for him beautifully and they took the time to understand what he needed. They very much allowed my boy to feel right at home. Looking forward to his next stay with them in October :)

Amy was brilliant with Mina. She was very patient with her as my cat can be very shy. A 9 month old kitten, she hides away when she's scared and it takes her time to come out of her shell. Amy followed all of my instructions. She was really accommodating, very kind and friendly, and I am truly grateful for her help looking after Mina when I was away. She also sent me some videos and photos of her exploring her home. This was really good as I missed her very much. All in all, Amy was awesome and I would get in touch again if I needed help in the future.

About: I'm Beata an experienced puppy owner who knows how to handle energetic, clever dogs. I focus on calm, positive handling, clear routines, and safe, structured walks. I'm confident with long leads, enrichment, recall practice, and reading dog body language. I've also cared for an anxious Chihuahua in the past, so I'm comfortable supporting more sensitive or shy dogs too. Whether your dog needs a fun walk, playtime, or quiet company, l keep things safe, relaxed, and tailored to them. Moreover, I have been attending puppy training classes and so I am also confident looking after young puppies. My partner James is also very experienced with handling dogs and helps with walks and structure, but I'm your main sitter and point of contact. I work from home so I am available to care for your pet most of the time. I usually go for a walk with my 4 month puppy in the morning as we have a great choice of parks nearby, if it’s a really hot day I take her for walks around 6-7am and then occupy her at home with some enrichment activities, training and playtime in the garden. I prepare food for my puppy at the same time as mine so we eat together and I can also keep an eye out on her. At the moment we go for 2 walks a day, one in the morning and another in the evening. I have a fenced garden and one very friendly puppy, she loves playing with other dogs and can adapt to their play style. I also have a foldable crate/playpen which I only need to use sometimes now. I’ve also used it as a tool with my neighbours dog who is less playful to give her some space when she needs it.

I would highly recommend Neil to anyone looking for someone to care for their fur baby while they're away. Neil looked after our dog for five days while we were on holiday, and we couldn't have been happier with the care he received. He treated our dog as if he were his own, making him feel comfortable, loved, and right at home throughout his stay. We had complete peace of mind knowing our dog was in such caring hands. Thank you, Neil!

About: I have always been around dogs since I can remember. Whether that was my own Labrador’s or my family’s/friends dogs. I currently co-own an 8 year old Labrador with my father who we rescued from dogs trust when he was one years old, who I love unconditionally. I also look after my mum’s dog often, which is a Staffy cross with a few other mastiff breeds mixed in. She will be 1 in April and she is currently under going puppy training and I love to play with her and she is very cute as you can see in the pictures I’ve provided. I work full time Monday-Friday but I can be flexible with working from home throughout the week, however, I always work from home on a Friday. I am also, happy to have dogs over the weekend if needs be, whether that is at my flat or your place. I live in a spacious 2 bedroom flat by myself with no other animals present. Opposite I have a huge field where I can walk the dogs and take them out for toilet breaks as many times as they need. I also live near nature walks as well, which I can happily take the dogs too for longer walks etc if needed.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Wales may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
