My first time using rover and Helen was absolutely fantastic ! You can tell her and her family really love dogs she made my dog Izzy very comfortable and the transition was amazing! I had regular updates and she cared for Izzy as if she was her own dog took her out for walks and even allowed her to have the same routine with sleeping so that Izzy was comfortable. I would highly recommend Helen to care for anyone’s dog she has knowledge and is just a really caring person who is kind and wonderful with dogs.thank you very much Helen I will definitely use your services again in the future thanks Claire and Izzy x

Pamela and family took on sitting Cidu at short notice after another booking was unavoidably cancelled. Pamela met with us beforehand to make sure she got on with her own dog. Pamela sent a few messages during the week to reassure us and Cidu seemed very happy when we collected her and seemed to have formed a good relationship with Pamela and her family. We would definitely use Pamela again.

About: I have been surrounded by dogs my entire life and come from a big family of pet owners, making dog care second nature to me. I'm proud to be a truly safe pair of hands for dogs of all sizes, from large breeds to small toy dogs. Family and friends always trust me with their pups when they go on holiday, knowing they'll get a loving home environment. Plus, I live right by huge parks, so your dog will get plenty of fantastic walks, fresh air, and dedicated attention while you are away! I work weekdays from 8 am to 4 pm as a tax advisor, but your pup will rarely be alone! My partner works from home 2 to 3 days a week, providing excellent midweek availability and continuous company. On the weekends, I am fully free and readily available for dog walking and boarding services, even on short notice. Whether it's a structured midweek routine or a last-minute weekend stay, we can easily accommodate your pet's needs. We live in a wonderful flat that features a completely private, securely fenced garden. Because it can only be accessed directly through our back door, it provides a perfectly safe, controlled environment for your dog to explore and roam around freely without any outside interference. Our home is also situated right next to a massive park, making it absolutely ideal for long, fun daily walks. Your dog will enjoy a peaceful, secure home away from home with plenty of outdoor time!

Sophie looked after Ted and his sister at quite short notice. Sophie was fab in all aspects of the planning and visit and we will definitely use her again. We were keen to arrange a visit before their stay and Sophie was able to accommodate this. Sophie was lovely with us and the dogs and listened and was eager for info to make the stay go as well as possible. We were really happy to leave them with Sophie as she quickly understood their personality and their needs, rather than imposing her approach / rules on their them. Thanks Sophie.

Kristina is truly brilliant. Our Finn stayed for two nights with Kristina. I dropped our 1year old Cockapoo off, quite nervous as he has never been away from us. Kristina was fantastic with him. She cuddled him until he felt settled. Finn absolutely loved her. So much he slept in her bed haha. Kristina sent pictures and messages of how he was doing and the lovely walks she had taken him on. Kristina was very caring and brilliant with Finn. Updated us all the way which put our mind at ease. Will be booking again with her soon.

This was our first experience of using this kind of service after recently adopting our 2 little boys, George & Percy. Jackson was super helpful when we made initial contact and the fact that both our dogs took to him instantly, despite one being extremely anxious, placed us completely at ease. Jackson kept us updated on their welfare and activities throughout the week and both boys look to have enjoyed their time with Jackson. Would definitely use Jackson again and highly recommend him to others without hesitation.

About: New to this service but friendly and accommodating family looking to help owners. I’ve owned dogs before and happy to listen to owners needs. I work from home 4 days a week and have a flexible routine. I’m an early riser so can walk early in the day or late based on the dogs needs. My wife is here the one day I am not and available for anything neededz We have a 3 bed house which is easy for dogs to move about in. We are close to Roath lake which offers good access for walks as well as Fidlas park.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Dog Boarding in Cardiff on Rover is £35.65 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Dog Boarding easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Dog Boarding. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 1,408 sitters on Rover offering Dog Boarding across Cardiff. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Wales may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
