“Jack is just the best - the dogs adore him and are so comfortable with him. They run straight in and don’t look back! Lots of updates and funny photos. They’ll defs be back!”

“Absolutely faultless from start to end. Vivian and Apo were so understanding of our 13 year old Labrador’s needs and showed him so much love and kindness. Vivian sent me photos and videos throughout the stay which gave me reassurance that he was happy. I can’t recommend them enough. Thank you both.”

“Emily saved my bacon stepping up last minute to look after my 1 yr old dog. I felt immediately reassured by her efficiency and calm attitude to my dog mother panic. Emily kept me updated, and was incredibly helpful in messaging despite technological issues on my end. Cleo came home very content and happy. 100% recommend. Thanks Emily.”
“Rupert has looked after our sprocker a lot lately for a mixture of daycare and boarding, accommodating very short notice requests due to family emergencies. Cannot recommend Rupert enough. His communication is great with daily updates and pics. Rupert is very attentive and ensures normal routines are carried out. Our sprocker feels so at home with him and is now best friends with his kind natured dog Cali. Thank you Rupert, we will no doubt be booking in again soon!”

“Yet again Kristina has taken superb care for our cockapoo Finn. Thanks Kristina for all the love and care for Finn while we were away as always. Kristina is fantastic with dogs and always keeps in touch with plenty of photos and videos. Finn has once again had such fun staying with you Beth and Steve 😊😊”

“Steve and Fred had a lovely time with Zhan and Lauren, with plenty of walks in their favourite place, Bute Park. Updates and pictures throughout their stay of all their adventures! Would recommend and use again!”

“Khalid looked after my 2 mini dachshunds Dotty & Pippa for 11 nights and he was absolutely AMAZING from start to finish…I don’t have enough good words to say! He was so accommodating and flexible with everything and made the whole process so easy for us. Our girls had the best stay with him and his dachshund, they got lots of cuddles, walks and treats and we got lovely daily updates from Khalid! Thank you so so much Khalid for looking after our babies, they can’t wait to see you again soon! X”

“What an amazing sitter! Beata was so kind, friendly and accommodating to me and Fidget! A lovely home with a wonderful big garden. She has a wealth of experience with dogs and Fidget clearly had an amazing time! Thank you so much!”

“Jackson was wonderful with our Cocker Spaniel, he looked after her really well and she was obviously very happy with him. Jackson sent several reassuring updates and photos and we’re already planning to leave her with him again soon :)”

“Mollie was brilliant with Rusty from start to finish. From the start, her communication was clear and reassuring, both before and during the stay, which really put us at ease. When we picked Rusty up, he seemed happy and relaxed. It was obvious that she genuinely understands dogs, including their individual needs and little quirks, and took the time to make him feel comfortable and cared for. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again and would recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and attentive sitter.”

About: I have taken care of a wide range of breeds from Border Collie to Whippet to Chihuahua. As you can imagine they have very different needs so I take pride in understanding what each dog needs. I have also looked after various other animals, including; cats/ rats/ hamsters/ rabbits for family, friends and clients. I currently study at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, so am fully available on weekends or lunchtime/ evenings throughout the week! Out of term time I am fully available. I have a fenced and secure back garden with no other pets. I live less than a ten minute walk from Bute Park (dog central).
About: I didn’t grow up with a dog but found every opportunity to spend time with them! In university I regularly walked/ cared for dogs in the area. I know what they need for walks, meals, playtime and love. I also look after my sister's dog regularly and have even branched out to house sitting/ pet sitting for my colleagues when they’re away! I'm happy with any routine or energy level. Your pet's in safe, caring hand and I'd be thrilled to help out! I work 4 days between Monday-Friday (2 of these are at home and I’m flexible with my days in office). My full day off varies each week so please check my calendar for availability! I'm able to take walks at lunch and before or after work. Weekends are totally open too. I live in a house with plenty of room for your pet to roam, and a fully fenced garden where they can safely explore and play. Plus, there's a lovely park just a 10 minute walk away, perfect for fresh air and fun outings. I’m currently working from home 2 days a week and have a full day off once a week (the full day off changes weekly). I have plenty of time to play with your fur baby’s/ keep them company! I also have multiple breaks during my work days and ample time on my lunch to take them out to stretch their legs. I also have weekend availability! I have a fenced garden which keeps everyone safe and secure during their time with me at my house. I’ve had experience with different dogs and their personalities. If I’m at your home, I don’t take being in someone else’s safe space lightly! I’m clean and trustworthy and will leave everything how I left it! I know dogs love routine so can happily carry out your wishes!
“Stephen was great! I got lots of photos of my Bella throughout her stay and she got so many walks, its clear she had an excellent time with him. Stephen was so friendly when i met him and asked enough questions to make sure he provided the best care before i left. 10/10 would recommend. :)”

“Sophie looked after Ted and his sister at quite short notice. Sophie was fab in all aspects of the planning and visit and we will definitely use her again. We were keen to arrange a visit before their stay and Sophie was able to accommodate this. Sophie was lovely with us and the dogs and listened and was eager for info to make the stay go as well as possible. We were really happy to leave them with Sophie as she quickly understood their personality and their needs, rather than imposing her approach / rules on their them. Thanks Sophie.”
“Hannah looked after our spaniel, Pippa, for the weekend and was absolutely fantastic. Pippa settled in straight away and was clearly spoiled with love and attention! Hannah kept us updated with lots of photos and really went above and beyond, arranging plenty of activities, long walks, and even social time with other spaniels. It was obvious that Pippa had a wonderful time, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hannah to anyone looking for a caring and reliable dog sitter.”

“Just picked up Barney from Emily and he is so chilled. He clearly had a wonderful time. Emily has been great. Right from the first contact she put Barney (and me) at ease with her calm manner. She sent some lovely pics during the weekend and her handover when we picked Barney up showed how attentive and caring she has been. We would definitely recommend her.”

About: I am a lifelong dog lover and owner with experience caring for friends’ and family’s dogs over many years. I offer a calm, safe home environment for small dogs, with a large secure garden and plenty of attention throughout the day. Unlike larger boarding facilities, I only accept one or two dogs at a time, ensuring every dog receives individual care and a relaxed stay. I welcome small breeds such as French Bulldogs, Jack Russells, Dachshunds, Cavaliers, Pugs and similar-sized dogs. I always arrange a meet-and-greet before boarding to make sure both owners and dogs feel comfortable. I work flexibly and my partner and I are usually at home, so guest dogs receive plenty of attention throughout the day. I only accept a small number of dogs at a time and can often accommodate weekend, holiday and occasional weekday bookings. My aim is to provide a relaxed home-from-home environment where dogs feel safe, comfortable and part of the family. Your dog’s safety and wellbeing are my top priorities. I have a large, fully fenced and secure garden with no direct street access, giving dogs plenty of space to play safely. I only board one or two small dogs at a time, allowing me to provide individual care and attention. Dogs have access to comfortable indoor living areas and can follow their usual routines as closely as possible. Meet-and-greets are encouraged before booking to ensure everyone is happy and comfortable.

Sue looked after Rocko for a week while I was on holiday, and she was absolutely great. She kept me updated with messages and photos throughout the week, which gave me real peace of mind. It was clear that Rocko had a fantastic time with her and was very well looked after. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sue to anyone looking for someone caring and reliable to look after their dog. Thank you so much!

This is the second time we have left Poppy with Joanna. She was looked after very well. Joanna communicated brilliantly with lots of photos and details about what Poppy had been doing each day. I could see that Poppy was very relaxed and happy and the places she was walked in looked lovely. I would definitely recommend Joanna to look after your dog and we will be using her again, thanks for looking after her.

Had a fantastic experience with Hazel looking after our dog, Lily. Communication was clear and concise whilst being friendly. We enjoyed seeing photos and videos of Lily being fed, walked and relaxing while we attended an event in Cardiff - Hazel even went out of her way to send them over WhatsApp as we had trouble viewing on Rover due to poor signal. I would highly recommend Hazel to look after you pet. Thanks again Hazel

Hannah looked after our spaniel, Pippa, for the weekend and was absolutely fantastic. Pippa settled in straight away and was clearly spoiled with love and attention! Hannah kept us updated with lots of photos and really went above and beyond, arranging plenty of activities, long walks, and even social time with other spaniels. Brilliant experience leaving frankie with sevval. Very regular updates with photos. Frankie has to take a tablet daily and can be very anxious on walks and this was handled very well. I would absolutely be happy to leave him with her again and would recommend her to anyone.

Zhan looked after Sissie and Otto wonderfully. They are two big dogs with big personalities and he coped very well with their needs including giving them medication. We had daily videos of them enjoying their walks in beautiful Bute park and would be very happy to have Zhan look after them again

Chloe and Daf were fantastic and took such good care of Ralphie. We knew he was in good hands when we got a photo of Ralphie having some cuddles within minutes of dropping him off. Communication was brilliant, with plenty of photo updates, and we could tell that Ralphie was being looked after as if he were their own. Will definitely be booking again in the future, and would highly recommend. Thank you!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Wales may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
