“Poppy was truly incredible. She looked after my spaniel, Rupert, alongside my Mother's lhasa apso whilst I was getting married. Poppy came for a meet and greet which went really well, and we later booked her for a couple of nights. Without hesitation, Poppy made herself avaliable for an additional night by request, and I will be forever grateful for that. We truly felt Rupert was in safe hands with Poppy, and the moment she arrived, both of the dogs were overjoyed and incredibly excited to see her. They clearly had a wonderful few days upon our return, and were both very happy. We are able to trust Poppy wholeheartedly, and we are so happy that we have found someone who our dog absolutely adores! I wouldn't hesitate to book Poppy again, and she will most certainly be coming back for some more spaniel cuddles! Thank you so much Poppy- you've been amazing!!!”

“Melissa took great care of Obi and provided regular updates for us. She was very responsive to messages and arrived and left on time. We wouldn't hesitate to book her again - thank you Melissa! :)”

“We had such a wonderful experience with Keri and would absolutely book with her again! She looked after our dog in our home on several occasions while we were back in the UK visiting family, and we couldn't have asked for a better sitter. Keri was kind, reliable and clearly has a genuine love for dogs. Our dog Gary, was so relaxed and happy with her which gave us complete peace of mind while we were away in the day. She took the time to make him feel comfortable, gave him plenty of attention, and cared for him as if he were her own. Communication was excellent throughout and it was so reassuring knowing our dog was being looked after in the comfort of his own home by someone so trustworthy and caring. We always came home to a happy, content pup. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Keri to anyone looking for a dependable, thoughtful, and genuinely caring dog sitter.”

“Nairere was absolutely fantastic. She was great with our dog, extremely friendly, made the effort to come round and meet our dog in advance, and went above and beyond by staying later when our car broke down on the way home and we were several hours later home than expected. 100% we would recommend.”

“Thank you so much Lisa, we were a bit anxious about leaving our fur baby with someone we didn’t know and for the very first time. However our fears were forgotten the minute you walked in the door, Louis absolutely loved you, you provided us with updates and he was so relaxed and content when we got back, it was wonderful. We wouldn’t hesitate to leave him with you again if we are ever in the area. Once again thank you so much.”

“Brianna is an incredible and responsible sitter. She has looked after our sausage dog Chip a number of times and stayed overnight with him. She is reliable and gentle with Chip. Chip is a very nervous boy and takes a while to warm up to people, he is very fond of Brianna and he even lets her pick him up (very few people hold this title).”

“Michael was amazing with Ruby. Nothing but great things to say, incredibly respectful, easy to communicate with. Kept us updated and even bought my beautiful girl a toy. I couldn’t reccomend Michael more. I will be 100% using him in future.”

“This was our first time using Rover.com and it was a great success. Rachel came round for a meet and greet beforehand, and immediately bonded with our dog Arlo, who can be very excitable with new people. We found Rachel to be personable, friendly, and clearly a passionate dog-lover. She agreed to house-sit for an evening, arrived promptly and was easy to have around. Arlo has separation anxiety and is always noisy when we leave the house, but within minutes Rachel sent us a photo to reassure us that he had calmed down very quickly. We then had several photo updates during the evening, which showed that Arlo was obviously very comfortable in her company. We hope to use Rachel for future house-sits and would recommend her services unreservedly.”

About: I lived with dogs (labs and spaniels) for most of my childhood and was always taught how to train them, how to walk them, and the other essentials of pet care. I currently work from home and have a flexible work pattern so can regularly take pups for toilet breaks/walks. I regularly go on long walks when we can. All I need now is a dog to take with us! Dogs will be given as much or as little attention as needed during the day, able to roam as they please. I’m happy to talk to owners about any specific requirements and we’ll see what we can do!

“Francesca was fantastic. Toby felt really comfortable with her straight away. She engaged with toby, played with him and took him out when he needed, encouraged him to rest too. She was in time, and the house was left as we'd left it. Just fantastic, thank you”

“Another great booking with Rhiannon, who accepted the booking at short notice. Dogs were walked and well looked after. House was clean when I got home and Rhiannon had again washed her bedding. Rhiannon is always so respectful of my home. Highly recommended :)”

“We asked Isobel to house sit for a whole day with just a few days' notice. Isobel replied instantly confirming that she'd be happy to house sit for us. Isobel came for a meet and greet the following day and was polite and friendly. One of my dogs has not been too well and Isobel was very happy to take care of him. Isobel kept us updated all through the day with photos and messages, which was very reassuring. We came home to a tidy house and two very happy and excited dogs. I'd recommend Isobel and would definitely use her again.”

“Rhos was brilliant! He left our house lovely and clean, was very good at keeping in contact with us and most importantly we’ve come home to a very content and well looked after dog. Thanks so much!”

“Sophie was great, we needed a short notice sit for our boys and she was able to accommodate us, our boys were well looked after and she even stripped the bed and put it in the washing machine. This was a challenging week with the weather being so hot and our boys were happy and healthy on our return. Thank you Sophie for taking good care of them all x”

I live in a spacious, pet-friendly apartment with access to a fantastic private terrace featuring a large grassy area on the rooftop. Rhos was great looking after our 2 dogs and 2 cats. They immediately felt at ease with her and were so well cared for during her stay. We had lots of updates and photos and were really comfortable that our boys and girl were being well looked after. Thank you so much Rhos.

We had such a wonderful experience with Keri and would absolutely book with her again! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Keri to anyone looking for a dependable, thoughtful, and genuinely caring dog sitter.

Melissa was fantastic! The cats absolutely lived her and the regular updates gave us added reassurance everyone was enjoying their time together. Melissa is very reliable, was quick to spot an unexpected and unrelated domestic issue which she did her best to resolve for us - we are very grateful for her care and attention, will definitely be booking her again.

Brianna is honestly a puppy whisperer! Professional, lovely to chat to, and quick replies - plus updates! She took great care of Reuben, who adores her, and really put my mind at ease leaving him for the first time. Wonderful, fantastic, will absolutely book again! Thank you Brianna!

We cannot recommend Dana enough! We approached Dana a couple of months before our honeymoon and she was very kind and accommodating from the start. Dana understood our needs and accommodated accordingly. It was very important for us to make sure Pablo was well looked after and in his own space. Dana did the housesitting for our dog Pablo who has some anxiety issues with going out and she also took great care of the apartment and left it very clean and in great condition. Dana was great with Pablo, she sent plenty of updates and dedicated a lot of time to play with him. Overall, Dana was exactly what we needed and we couldn’t have asked for more. Pablo has made a new friend and we were so impressed that we asked Dana to look after him again soon! Thanks again Dana!

Richie was fantastic! First time we have used a dog sitter and he really helped me feel at ease. He not only did he take wonderful care of Lola and our home, he gave support and feedback on how to make walking her better (she's a reactive puller). His communication was brilliant too. I will 100% be contacting Richie right away for any further trips we take. Can't recommend him enough.

Danika was a fantastic dog sitter! Communication was excellent throughout, and she kept me updated with regular messages and lovely photos, which gave me real peace of mind. It was clear my dog was well cared for and happy. I wouldn't hesitate to book with her again and would highly recommend Danika to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter.

Sophie was amazing with our complicated miniature dachshund. She provided exactly the kind of care tailored to her needs and nothing was too much trouble. She administered meds, asked how best to interact and play with her. Sophie was excellent at communicating with us giving regular updates and asked detailed questions before accepting the booking to make sure she was the right fit. It was amazing knowing our dog was in the comfort of her own home being cared for wonderfully. The house was left absolutely spotless. Absolutely brilliant service. Thank you!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Cardiff walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cardiff choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
