“Poppy looked after our nervous lurcher Skye so we could be out for a long evening. Skye can be nervous of new people but Poppy is so calm and friendly that Skye took to her immediately. She did an excellent job and we will definitely be booking her again in the future”

“Excellent communication and extremely friendly. Melissa did a fantastic job of looking after Jasper in our home for a morning sit. He was well looked after and sad to see her go! Thank you for your excellent care”

“What an amazing 1st time experience of using Rover. Couldn’t have wished for better than Maya. She looked after our 13 year old dog as if he were her own - plenty of cwtshes & short walks (with plenty of pics!) The house was immaculate as well. She even came round the night before to meet us & Macs as we were leaving early the day of the sitting. Diolch/ thanks Maya - we’ll be in touch soon for our next trip away”

“Nairere hjälpte oss med kort varsel (tack!) på nyårsafton. Vi träffades hemma hos oss två dagar innan för att prata lite och stämma av att allt kändes bra! På nyårskvällen var hon med vår hund i lägenheten under kvällen. Det gick jättebra! Kommer anlita igen om vi får 👏👌”

“Francesca was fantastic. Toby felt really comfortable with her straight away. She engaged with toby, played with him and took him out when he needed, encouraged him to rest too. She was in time, and the house was left as we'd left it. Just fantastic, thank you”

“Lydia house / pet sat for us as we jetted off on our two week holidays. This was the first time we had ever had anyone stay in the house and look after our cats so we were quite apprehensive. But I can say Lydia kept us up to date and everything went smoothly. Will definitely be booking with Lydia again, thank you!”

“We used Jake for the first time to look after our poodle Betsi on our home a couple of nights ago whilst we went to a concert. He was great! Betsi was really happy when we came back and seemed very happy to have been with Jake. Betsi is my Assistance Dog and as such can have separation anxiety as she's not used to being away from me, but she seemed to cope fine in Jake's capable hands! Jake came for a meet & greet first, and was great at keeping us updated with pics etc during the evening which was really reassuring for me. Thanks Jake! We'll definitely be using you again, and I'd highly recommend if you have a cat or dog that needs sitting in your home.”

“Lisa is lovely and caring. Charlie and Skye love her! Rosie and Buddy the cats also love her. We are always relaxed when we leave our fur babies in her care and have to go to work! Wonderful and professional. Much recommended”

“Michael was excellent with our senior and slightly anxious dog, Scout. We were a little nervous about leaving Scout with a pet sitter, but from the moment we met Michael we knew that Scout would be in good hands. She took to him straight away and had clearly had a lovely weekend. He sent detailed daily updates and was clearly a very capable carer for her. He also left our house super clean and tidy. I would not hesitate to recommend Michael to anyone looking for someone calm, capable and caring to look after their dogs.”

“Pamela looked after my dog, Leo, for an evening while we were visiting Cardiff. Her communication was great, and I immediately felt at ease leaving Leo with her ☺️ he settled with her right away, and seemed to have a lovely time! Would highly recommend Pamela!”

“Brianna is an incredible and responsible sitter. She has looked after our sausage dog Chip a number of times and stayed overnight with him. She is reliable and gentle with Chip. Chip is a very nervous boy and takes a while to warm up to people, he is very fond of Brianna and he even lets her pick him up (very few people hold this title).”

“Isobel took good care of my reactive rescue fur baby, she sent pictures through out her stay and kept me updated on how he was doing which gave me peace of mind to enjoy my time away. When I got back Dexter was calm and happy, which meant he was completely at ease with Isobel looking after him. Isobel is an extremely nice young lady who has great attention to detail in regard to care instructions, respects your home, so will definately be asking her to look after my boy in the future.”

“Rhos was great looking after our 2 dogs and 2 cats. They immediately felt at ease with her and were so well cared for during her stay. We had lots of updates and photos and were really comfortable that our boys and girl were being well looked after. Thank you so much Rhos.”

“Brad was an excellent sitter for our greyhound Collin. He was communicating through out the sit and very attentive to Collins needs. He looked after both Collin and the house with equal measure. Colin had an excellent time and had clearly had lots of walks and pets in our absence. Brad is clearly very loving with pets and easily bond's with them. We would definitely book him again !”

About: I have been surrounded by dogs my entire life and come from a big family of pet owners, making dog care second nature to me. I'm proud to be a truly safe pair of hands for dogs of all sizes, from large breeds to small toy dogs. Family and friends always trust me with their pups when they go on holiday, knowing they'll get a loving home environment. Plus, I live right by huge parks, so your dog will get plenty of fantastic walks, fresh air, and dedicated attention while you are away! I work weekdays from 8 am to 4 pm as a tax advisor, but your pup will rarely be alone! My partner works from home 2 to 3 days a week, providing excellent midweek availability and continuous company. On the weekends, I am fully free and readily available for dog walking and boarding services, even on short notice. Whether it's a structured midweek routine or a last-minute weekend stay, we can easily accommodate your pet's needs. We live in a wonderful flat that features a completely private, securely fenced garden. Because it can only be accessed directly through our back door, it provides a perfectly safe, controlled environment for your dog to explore and roam around freely without any outside interference. Our home is also situated right next to a massive park, making it absolutely ideal for long, fun daily walks. Your dog will enjoy a peaceful, secure home away from home with plenty of outdoor time!
“Alicia was absolutely fantastic with my dog, Skye, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her. Skye is quite anxious and reactive around new people, so I was a little nervous, but Alicia took the time to do a meet and greet beforehand and really invested time in getting to know her. She even brought a ball with her, gave Skye lots of treats and fuss, and made her feel completely at ease. I was so impressed by how relaxed Skye was with Alicia – that’s not something she does with many people, so it really speaks volumes about how kind, patient and understanding Alicia is. Alicia arrived on time, kept me updated, and looked after both Skye and my home with great care and respect. It gave me real peace of mind knowing Skye was in such capable hands. I wouldn’t hesitate to book Alicia again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable and trustworthy sitter.”

“Another great booking with Rhiannon, who accepted the booking at short notice. Dogs were walked and well looked after. House was clean when I got home and Rhiannon had again washed her bedding. Rhiannon is always so respectful of my home. Highly recommended :)”

About: Having grown up with pets my whole life, I absolutely love any time I get to spend with animals! I have owned 3 German Shepherds. Currently I have Rio who is 5 and a half years old! In my family, we also have Tinto and Albie ❤️Before Rio, I had 2 German Shepherds, Logan and Indie. I am really flexible and would love any chance to look after/walk your dogs! I have experience looking after (both in my own home and staying at owner’s houses) and walking dogs of all sizes through Rover and family friends. I am able to walk dogs of all sizes and temperaments and would love to spend time with dogs. I am a Speech and Language Therapist and work term time! Therefore, across school holidays, I am available all the time! I am also available weekends during term time. I will spend time getting to know your pet so they feel comfortable with me. We will play with toys and spend time doing enrichment when we are not out walking! (or cuddled up on the sofa)

Georgia was fantastic! We had a previsit so that we were both comfortable with the situation looking after my elderly cat who is on several different types of medication. I cannot fault a thing, Jerry was happy and Georgia left my place spotless! Easy and quick comms as well which was fabulous. 12/10!!

Rachel is an outstanding pet sitter. Clear and friendly communication before and during the sitting, photos and short updates every day (without me even asking) - which put my mind at rest and allowed me to enjoy my holiday. Rachel left the house beautifully and even gave a cute hand written report on the pets and a thank you card. I couldn’t have wished for better care for my pets 🐶🐱🐱❤️🌟🙏🏽

Nia was great, and really helped us out at relatively short notice. She even made the time to pop over after work to meet Bonnie in advance, which we really appreciated. Proof of life photos showed a very relaxed doggo, and she was very relaxed when we got home later in the evening.

Poppy looked after our 2 dogs, 2 cats, house and many plants for over 3 weeks. She was brilliant and everything was perfect when we returned. Just before we left, one of our dogs got ill and Poppy looked after her expertly and gave her the necessary medication. Our dog made a speedy recovery thanks to Poppy’s good care. I could not think of anyone more reliable, kind and trustworthy to look after our pets and house. Thank you so much again Poppy, we would love to call on you again in future!
Betsi enjoyed the company of Jake again last night whilst her humans left her for a night out (how dare we?!). He's great with her, she's comfortable with him, and we trust him having used him several times before. Great guy who genuinely cares about animals, and the importance in life in having pink hair, of which Betsi approves! Thanks Jake and we look forward to next time!

We had a great experience with Bianca. She responded to our urgent pet sitting request very quickly, which was a huge help. She was friendly, reliable, and took great care of our dogs. It was clear they were happy and comfortable with her, which gave us real peace of mind while we were away. We’d definitely recommend her and would be happy to book with her again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Cardiff walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cardiff choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
