“Poppy is brilliant and looked after our puppy Cliff (who is huge) really beautifully. She was able to make him feel settled and relaxed and he had a lovely time with her. Thank you Poppy! We would absolutely recommend Poppy to other pet owners!”

“Melissa took great care of Obi and provided regular updates for us. She was very responsive to messages and arrived and left on time. We wouldn't hesitate to book her again - thank you Melissa! :)”

“We used Jake for the first time to look after our poodle Betsi on our home a couple of nights ago whilst we went to a concert. He was great! Betsi was really happy when we came back and seemed very happy to have been with Jake. Betsi is my Assistance Dog and as such can have separation anxiety as she's not used to being away from me, but she seemed to cope fine in Jake's capable hands! Jake came for a meet & greet first, and was great at keeping us updated with pics etc during the evening which was really reassuring for me. Thanks Jake! We'll definitely be using you again, and I'd highly recommend if you have a cat or dog that needs sitting in your home.”

“Nairere is super nice and accommodating making the experience super easy, She stayed in my apartment looking after my car Charles over the midsummer weekend, she took great care of him, gave frequent updates and left my home neat and tidy. I would book Nairere again :)”

“Lisa is fantastic. A warm, lovely person and we feel at ease leaving our lovely sprockador in her very capable hands. You could see there was an instant connection between her and our boy so we knew he would be well looked after. Communication was great before and during her stay at house. Highly recommend”

“Brianna is an incredible and responsible sitter. She has looked after our sausage dog Chip a number of times and stayed overnight with him. She is reliable and gentle with Chip. Chip is a very nervous boy and takes a while to warm up to people, he is very fond of Brianna and he even lets her pick him up (very few people hold this title).”

“We asked Isobel to house sit for a whole day with just a few days' notice. Isobel replied instantly confirming that she'd be happy to house sit for us. Isobel came for a meet and greet the following day and was polite and friendly. One of my dogs has not been too well and Isobel was very happy to take care of him. Isobel kept us updated all through the day with photos and messages, which was very reassuring. We came home to a tidy house and two very happy and excited dogs. I'd recommend Isobel and would definitely use her again.”

“Absolutely amazing service! Couldn’t recommend more! I have 4 animals 2 cats and 2 dogs all with their own little quirks and needs and Rachel managed to keep all four of them happy whilst keeping me updated throughout my holiday also kept my house super clean and tidy! We will definitely be booking Rachel again! Thank you so much 💕”

“Tes looked after our dog Gus recently and I cannot recommend her enough. We met up before the sit and not only was she attentive and eager to make sure she had all of Gus's routines/quirks/fears down, but she was also so lovely and friendly and Gus warmed to her straight away! During the stay she kept us updated with all the adventures they went on which was so nice to see, and she left the house super tidy. Would book again in a heartbeat!”

About: Although never professionally involved in the pet care industry, I’ve grown up with dogs and cats, all with different personalities! Within my village, I walked dogs for many families, including a few home stays when needed. Being a pet lover, I know the joy a single walk brings to our pets. I will help you love your furry friends when your schedule does not allow you! I am currently an international student, only in two days a week. I am fairly flexible in my routine after Monday and Tuesday. I have developed a routine to complete my school/daily tasks, allowing me to now incorporate other priorities. In a pet owner’s home, I stick closely to their routine so pets feel safe and comfortable. I follow feeding, walking, and medication instructions carefully, provide plenty of attention and exercise, keep the space clean, and send updates if wanted!
About: I'm a clean, tidy, considerate person who has taken care of pets in other people's homes ever since I was little. Dogs are very good for my mental health and I really enjoy being in the company of cats too. My ex-boyfriends have always had dogs which I have enjoyed looking after when we’ve been together (and been very sad to leave!). My cat Crazy Bob sadly passed away when I was 19, and my current landlord doesn’t allow pets - plus every housemate I’ve had since graduating uni is allergic to cats - so I can’t have them in my own home. Therefore this is the best way for me to have quality time with animals. I am very happy to send daily photo and video updates as I know how hard it is when you are missing your best friends! I currently work 9-5 in a hybrid capacity between the office and from home. I wfh Thurs-Fri and I have my weekends free. I am available after 8pm on Thursdays and from Friday - Sunday I am available all day. I like to care for pets by following their established routine. Dogs for example, whether that’s taking regular short - long walks, playtime, time off lead, having the occasional treat, staying on the lead, socialising with other dogs or watching TV at home, having a healthy amount of meals and having plenty of cuddles!

About: I’m Mike, an animal lover based in Cardiff, and I’d be really happy to help look after your pets while you’re busy or away. I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust, so I always treat every pet as if they were my own – with patience, kindness and plenty of love and attention. I offer friendly, reliable dog walking for all ages and energy levels, from gentle strolls for older doggies to longer, more active walks for those who love to explore. I’m also available for dog sitting in your home, keeping to your normal routines with feeding, playtime, and any specific training or house rules you have. For cat owners, I provide calm and respectful cat sitting or daily check ins – fresh food and water, clean litter trays, play and cuddles (if your cat is the cuddly type!), and regular updates so you know they’re doing well. I’m also experienced with small animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and fish, and I’m happy to follow detailed care instructions to make sure they feel safe and comfortable. I’m flexible, easy to contact and will keep you updated with daily messages and photos, so you always know how your pets are getting on. If you have any questions or special requirements, just let me know – I’ll do my best to tailor my care to your pet’s individual needs. I work remotely (not office based), which allows me to provide consistent, attentive care and maintain a flexible routine tailored to each pet’s needs throughout the day and week. I have extensive experience with a wide range of animals, including dogs, cats, and smaller pets such as rabbits, hamsters, and fish. Growing up surrounded by animals and regularly caring for pets within my community has given me a deep understanding of different temperaments and care requirements. In addition to domestic pet care, I have spent many years working with wildlife as a conservationist and wildlife protection officer where I helped train and use working dogs on a daily basis, further strengthening my skills in animal handling and welfare. As I don’t currently have pets of my own, I’m able to dedicate my full time, attention, and care to the animals I look after. I am also trained in pet first aid and CPR. Safety, trust, and a calm environment are at the heart of how I care for every pet. As I work remotely (not office based), pets are never left alone for long periods and receive consistent supervision, attention, and companionship throughout the day. I take time to understand each pet’s individual routine, preferences, and any specific needs to ensure they feel secure and comfortable in my care. Be it walks, daily check ins or caring for pets in their owner’s home, I maintain a clean, hazard-free environment and follow all instructions carefully, including feeding routines, medication, and exercise requirements. I prioritise gentle handling, positive reinforcement, and creating a stress-free atmosphere, especially for more nervous or sensitive animals. With my background in animal care and wildlife work, I am confident in recognising changes in behaviour or health and responding appropriately. I am also trained in pet first aid and CPR, ensuring im alway providing extra reassurance that pets are in safe, capable hands at all times.
“Came home to a tidy house and a happy dog and can’t ask for more! Ashley kept us updated and was communicative, especially when the winter storm threw our travel plans into flux. Will be booking again!”

About: I’ve grown up around dogs and have two of my own back home: a Samoyed and a Poodle, which I miss very much🥺, And I’m used to different personalities, ages, and needs. They’re completely different, which has taught me how to understand each dog individually. I’ve trained my own dogs, including crate training, potty training, and basic commands like sit, stay, spin, paw and recall, so I’m confident handling behaviour in a calm and consistent way. I also enjoy making dog friendly treats and I’m very aware of what’s safe and unsafe for dogs. I’m a graduating student staying in Cardiff over the summer, so I have a very flexible schedule and can give dogs plenty of time, attention, and love. I have an easy access to a park and a garden, which is ideal for walks and outdoor time. I acquire an enhanced DBS check for added reassurance. I’m happy to help with anything from walks and day care to longer stays, and can also support with basic training if necessary :) I’m available throughout the week for walks, day care, and overnight stays, so I can be really flexible depending on what you need. I’m also quite an active person and love my morning walks, so having a little companion with me would make it even better My home is set up to be dog friendly and clean, so it’s a comfortable environment where dogs can settle in easily. I have access to a garden for quick toilet breaks. And I don’t have any other pets at home
“I couldn't be more thrilled with Ellena's care for our dog and two cats while we were away. It was clear that she truly cared for them, and she went above and beyond to make sure they were happy and settled. I received regular ’pub-dates’, and it was so reassuring to know they were in such capable hands. Hugo, in particular, clearly adored her! I absolutely recommend Ellena to anyone looking for a kind, reliable, and attentive pet sitter. She’s amazing!”

“Sophie was lovely. Communicated well before and during the sit. Kept me updated with pics and most importantly took the best care of my fur babies. Returned to happy pets and tidy house. Would happily use again !”

Sophie was amazing with our complicated miniature dachshund. She provided exactly the kind of care tailored to her needs and nothing was too much trouble. She administered meds, asked how best to interact and play with her. Sophie was excellent at communicating with us giving regular updates and asked detailed questions before accepting the booking to make sure she was the right fit. It was amazing knowing our dog was in the comfort of her own home being cared for wonderfully. The house was left absolutely spotless. Absolutely brilliant service. Thank you!

Ellena is our absolute go-to for our dog, Hugo. She’s not only very caring and clearly has a natural way with him, but she also takes the time to make sure he’s happy, settled, and well looked after whenever he’s with her. We always feel completely confident leaving him in her care. Her communication is excellent too - she keeps us updated and is always reliable, responsive, and easy to deal with. Overall, she’s absolutely trustworthy and we couldn’t recommend her more highly!

Firstly, thank you so much Siôn & Angie. If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Saffy misses you already! I have a nervous rescue dog (German shepherd X collie), I wanted to find someone to stay at my house with her who had experience with nervous rescue dogs. After reading Siôn’s profile I sent a message, received a quick reply and we arranged a video call. Siôn & Angie then came for a walk to meet Saffy. It takes her a long time to let strangers near her but she let them both pet her the first meeting which was a great sign! While working away I had been worried as it was my first time leaving Saffy but Angie & Siôn were so patient with her and sent updates every day. Seeing the transformation over their time together was incredible. Saffy absolutely fell in love with Angie and was tolerant of Siôn (which is a compliment as she hates most men). I really can’t thank you enough for being so caring towards Saffy, she is slowly learning that not all humans are bad and you have been a massive part of that journey for her. Additionally, my house was well taken care of and left exactly as I left it. Thank you again. I would definitely recommend Angie & Siôn to any one looking for a dog sitter and will definitely book again in future. I know Saffy would love to see them again!
Lydia was absolutely brilliant, she came to look after Milo for our wedding day. She was so communicative, checking in with us leading up to the date. She has a lovely calming energy and nothing was too much to ask - even took Milo out for an hour's walk in the pouring rain so we could all get ready! And sent us updates so we knew he was in good hands. We are so grateful for her part in us having the perfect day. Thank you so much Lydia :) xxx

Nairere replied to my last minute request within the hour and was really accommodating with times etc. my doggie took to her right away, a lovely calm greeting. Without me asking, Nairere kept me up to date with messages and pics of the lovely times they were having. My flight back was delayed and although I offered for Nairere to leave as it was late, she insisted on waiting until we got back, which was after midnight. Thank you, Nairere! An absolute pleasure to get to know you and hope we can have you look after our whippet wonder again soon! Xxx

Sophie was absolutely fantastic. She was very easy to contact, sent regular updates and lots of pictures. Our dog (and our house!) were in wonderful shape when we got back. We would have absolutely no hesitation in booking Sophie again and our dog would be very thrilled to see her again. Thanks Soph!

Tes looked after our dog Gus recently and I cannot recommend her enough. Would book again in a heartbeat!

Rachel was absolutely wonderful house sitting for our elderly Airedale. We had plenty of updates and photos and Lotty was happy and contented when we returned . She is totally trustworthy and competent as well as kind and gentle and the house was lovely and tidy. We look forward to having her to stay again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Cardiff walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cardiff choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
