Sophie was great, we needed a short notice sit for our boys and she was able to accommodate us, our boys were well looked after and she even stripped the bed and put it in the washing machine. This was a challenging week with the weather being so hot and our boys were happy and healthy on our return. Thank you Sophie for taking good care of them all x

Izzabelle was great with our 3.5yr cockapoo - Ginny. Ginny has separation anxiety and Izzabelle was very accommodating with that. Communication was great. Will definitely book with Izzabelle again!

Emily was amazing, took good care of our home and even brought our bin in for us. When our mischievous dog managed to get out of her harness while we were away, she had no trouble getting her back safely, warned us about the broken harness and found a sturdier one for the dog. Dog also loved her! Could not rate her more highly and already have booked her again!

What an amazing 1st time experience of using Rover. Couldn’t have wished for better than Maya. She looked after our 13 year old dog as if he were her own - plenty of cwtshes & short walks (with plenty of pics!) The house was immaculate as well. She even came round the night before to meet us & Macs as we were leaving early the day of the sitting. Diolch/ thanks Maya - we’ll be in touch soon for our next trip away

About: Here is a discount code for first time rover users for £15 off first booking: HANNAH61584 I have had dogs since I was a young child. All of my dogs have been my best friend and lived to a very old age, Three of which were rescue dogs. I now have two beautiful dogs called Bella and Mabel both are very loving and friendly girls which I have had from since they were puppies (Beagle 11, Lurcher 5) Your dog/dogs can cwtch up on the sofa and will be allowed to sleep in the bed, If preferred they can sleep in their own bed in the bedroom. Your dog will be treated in the same loving and compassionate way that we treat our dogs. I work 2 night shifts a week and my partner works days therfore there will always be someone with your pet 24/7. My partner is a massive animal lover like myself and our dogs love us greatly as we do them. We do not have people in and out of our house therefore your pet/pets will only be with me, my partner and our two dogs in safe loving hands. I will adapt my time whilst your pet is in my care to their needs and routine. I will respect and follow any requirements you have. I will send daily updates so you know what your pet has got up to that day (walks, cosied up in a blanket on the sofa, playing on the beach and woods ect) and will give daily updates on how your dog is getting on. With my dogs being my world I know how important it is to know that they are safe and enjoying their time, I can do video calls if you would like so that you can see how your dog is doing in present time. There are plenty of fields, beaches and woodlands close by so that your dog can have amazing walks or if you would prefer only street walks that is completely fine. Whatever you feel is best for your dog and your peace of mind I will follow. I can walk your dog as many times a day as you would like. Dogs can be kept on leads when out at all times if wanted or if your dog needs a good run there is a beach we know that doesn't have many people or dogs and is perfect for a good run or we can use long leads so that your dog can still have a good run whilst having the reassurance of being on a lead. Any medical issues or medications please give me clear instructions so that I can ensure your dogs is safe and well looked after. If you would like to meet us and our dogs prior we can happily arrange that or if you would like for your dog/dogs to stay an hour or two at our house to see how they settle in a new environment this can also be happily arranged. We dedicate our time to our dogs and will do the same for yours whilst they are in our care. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Thank you. We do not have any children and I only work two night shifts a week therefore i can fit any rountine into my daily or weekly routine. Whatever your requirements are I will follow. When I am working nights my partner will be home to take care of your pet and ours. We have a secure garden, we already have two dogs therefore do not have things lying around the home that could harm them or that they could Injest that could harm them. I will be constantly Observant of your pet to ensure they are safe and they will never be left on their own.

Lydia house / pet sat for us as we jetted off on our two week holidays. This was the first time we had ever had anyone stay in the house and look after our cats so we were quite apprehensive. But I can say Lydia kept us up to date and everything went smoothly. Will definitely be booking with Lydia again, thank you!

About: I have been surrounded by dogs my entire life and come from a big family of pet owners, making dog care second nature to me. I'm proud to be a truly safe pair of hands for dogs of all sizes, from large breeds to small toy dogs. Family and friends always trust me with their pups when they go on holiday, knowing they'll get a loving home environment. Plus, I live right by huge parks, so your dog will get plenty of fantastic walks, fresh air, and dedicated attention while you are away! I work weekdays from 8 am to 4 pm as a tax advisor, but your pup will rarely be alone! My partner works from home 2 to 3 days a week, providing excellent midweek availability and continuous company. On the weekends, I am fully free and readily available for dog walking and boarding services, even on short notice. Whether it's a structured midweek routine or a last-minute weekend stay, we can easily accommodate your pet's needs. We live in a wonderful flat that features a completely private, securely fenced garden. Because it can only be accessed directly through our back door, it provides a perfectly safe, controlled environment for your dog to explore and roam around freely without any outside interference. Our home is also situated right next to a massive park, making it absolutely ideal for long, fun daily walks. Your dog will enjoy a peaceful, secure home away from home with plenty of outdoor time!

Kelsey was great! She was really communicative from the start and was more than happy to meet our pup beforehand, which made everything feel much more comfortable and less overwhelming on the day. While we were out, she kept us updated with photos, which we really appreciated. She’s super friendly, easy to get along with, and clearly a natural with dogs, our pup took to her straight away. We’re so glad to have found someone we trust and are already looking forward to booking with her again!

Brad was an excellent sitter for our greyhound Collin. He was communicating through out the sit and very attentive to Collins needs. He looked after both Collin and the house with equal measure. Colin had an excellent time and had clearly had lots of walks and pets in our absence. Brad is clearly very loving with pets and easily bond's with them. We would definitely book him again !

Marcus came to look after Lenny for 1 night, and I could tell Len had been well looked after when I got back as he was a very happy boy! You also wouldn’t have known anyone had been here because the house was exactly how I had left it. Len is a 35kg doodle full of energy but also very needy and slightly nervous so he perhaps isn’t the easiest dog to look after. However when Marcus came over prior to the visit it was very clear that Len was not nervous at all around him and in fact was rather excited… which Marcus handled well 😅. I had lots of pictures and videos, a meet up before hand, Marcus took lots of notes on Len’s care, was flexible on timings and is generally a very lovely person. I would definitely book doggy care with Marcus again.

Absolute professional - dogs were really relaxed and calm when we arrived home which is always a good sign and the house was absolutely spotless! She messaged frequently, sending updates and reassurances. I would certainly recommend her.

About: My name is Laura. I am a childrens nurse and would love to look after your dog or walk them. I have eight years of experience looking after my neighbours dog when they are on holiday and walk him regularly. I like taking dogs on long walk to the park or beach. I am available to take your dog for a walk or dog sit most evenings in the week and some weekends (I work shifts so it depends on my shifts that week). Drop me a message if you’re in need of a sitter or a dog walker! I live in Barry and would like to care for dogs around this area. I am very caring and would love to look after any dog and any size. Message me when you require pet care and we can go through what time works best for you. The hours I am available change from day to day. Me and my sister have a cavalier called Chester. He may sometimes be around so please let me know if you would prefer your dog to be walked alone. He is a very calm and loving dog.

About: I've always owned dogs and cats growing up, and currently live with two cocker spaniels and a ragdoll cat. I frequently become relied upon by family members to dog sit, most popularly by my dad who owns an XL American Bull. I've had dogs from the range of shuh tzu's to staffie's to the American Bull mentioned, which has made confident in my abilities no matter the breed, size or personality! I'm currently going back to university to study my Masters Degree, which is why this type of arrangement is ideal for me (and hopefully for you too!) I'm currently going back to university for my Masters Degree in Social Work which is only two days a week. This leaves me with plenty of time to have fun and keep your furry loved ones company while you are away making memories! From dogs that just want someone to sit near (who will make the best study buddies) to high energy and playful dogs (the ones that make you forget all of lifes stress while you focus on whatever they want to play with), I can guarentee the best service for them from me. Unfortunately, I am not able to have animals come to my house - the two cocker spaniels and the ragdoll cat have rule of that here! I am more than happy to sit in for the days, or stay overnight when needed! I am happy to meet first (which will hopefully also include the dog) but rezt assured no matter how we start this off, your animals are the priority.

My family and I could not be happier with the care that Izzabelle provided for our dog, Huxley, whilst we spent the day at our son's graduation. From the very beginning, Izzabelle responded promptly to all my messages, and she was incredibly polite. Izzabelle arrived punctually at the agreed time. Huxley absolutely loved all the cuddles, tasty dog treats and the extra fuss he received from Izzabelle when she looked after him for the day. We especially appreciated the regular updates and the photos of Huxley having a great time, that Izzabelle sent us during her stay - it gave us complete piece of mind while we were out for the day. We highly recommend Izzabelle. And Huxley does too!

Leanne looked after our two boys for four nights during a trip to Venice. Would definitely recommend using her services as Leanne was brilliant from start to finish. We arranged a meet & greet beforehand so that the boys could familiarise themselves with her and then we received regular updates, including pics whilst away. We will be using Leanne again (hopefully in June) for our next break away. Your little ones will be in safe hands, you can rest easy knowing that when you come home they will be content and will have enjoyed their time with her. Our house was left spotless! Thank you Leanne.

I would not hesitate to book her again would happily recommend her to family and friends.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Vale of Glamorgan walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Vale of Glamorgan choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
