Sophie was great, we needed a short notice sit for our boys and she was able to accommodate us, our boys were well looked after and she even stripped the bed and put it in the washing machine. This was a challenging week with the weather being so hot and our boys were happy and healthy on our return. Thank you Sophie for taking good care of them all x

Ashley is so good with Arwen and we really appreciated the regular updates. He gave us so much peace of mind we were away! He was also flexible and helped out when our travel plans changed last minute due to storms.

Izzabelle was great with our 3.5yr cockapoo - Ginny. Ginny has separation anxiety and Izzabelle was very accommodating with that. Communication was great. Will definitely book with Izzabelle again!

I cannot recommend Emily enough. She was the first sitter to be we have ever left our new anxious rescue dog with and she was not only extremely patient, but a calming presence and extremely empathetic to her unique needs. Emily came by in advance and ensure she understood Tilly’s needs and tendencies and took extra care to make our very shy dog as comfortable as possible. She was also extremely communicative and kept us informed throughout her stay. Thanks again Emily! We can’t wait to have you back someday.

We were let down short notice for someone to look after our Saffie a boxer as I work in pet insurance I was recommended to Rover. After searching, we came across a sitter called Jess. As anyone would, we were apprehensive of strangers coming and staying at our home. About the stay, Jess was absolutely fantastic. We are so thankful we found her and will definitely book her again. She made sure not just the dog, but our home was looked after nicely and clean from when we returned from our family holiday. We had regular updates, photos and videos of Saffie enjoying her time with Jess and if we had a question, then it was never a problem to reply with a quick response. For first time users, I definitely recommend using Rover if your planning a family holiday and highly recommend Jess once again Jess, thank you and a WOOF from Saffie.

Kelsey was great! She was really communicative from the start and was more than happy to meet our pup beforehand, which made everything feel much more comfortable and less overwhelming on the day. While we were out, she kept us updated with photos, which we really appreciated. She’s super friendly, easy to get along with, and clearly a natural with dogs, our pup took to her straight away. We’re so glad to have found someone we trust and are already looking forward to booking with her again!

Really delighted to have found Leanne, who looked after my two fur babies and stayed in my home while we were away for several nights. Absolute professional - dogs were really relaxed and calm when we arrived home which is always a good sign and the house was absolutely spotless! She messaged frequently, sending updates and reassurances. I would certainly recommend her.

About: I lived with dogs (labs and spaniels) for most of my childhood and was always taught how to train them, how to walk them, and the other essentials of pet care. I currently work from home and have a flexible work pattern so can regularly take pups for toilet breaks/walks. I regularly go on long walks when we can. All I need now is a dog to take with us! Dogs will be given as much or as little attention as needed during the day, able to roam as they please. I’m happy to talk to owners about any specific requirements and we’ll see what we can do!

About: I've always owned dogs and cats growing up, and currently live with two cocker spaniels and a ragdoll cat. I frequently become relied upon by family members to dog sit, most popularly by my dad who owns an XL American Bull. I've had dogs from the range of shuh tzu's to staffie's to the American Bull mentioned, which has made confident in my abilities no matter the breed, size or personality! I'm currently going back to university to study my Masters Degree, which is why this type of arrangement is ideal for me (and hopefully for you too!) I'm currently going back to university for my Masters Degree in Social Work which is only two days a week. This leaves me with plenty of time to have fun and keep your furry loved ones company while you are away making memories! From dogs that just want someone to sit near (who will make the best study buddies) to high energy and playful dogs (the ones that make you forget all of lifes stress while you focus on whatever they want to play with), I can guarentee the best service for them from me. Unfortunately, I am not able to have animals come to my house - the two cocker spaniels and the ragdoll cat have rule of that here! I am more than happy to sit in for the days, or stay overnight when needed! I am happy to meet first (which will hopefully also include the dog) but rezt assured no matter how we start this off, your animals are the priority.

About: I’ve taken care of pets since childhood. I had cats all my life at home and have taken care of friends and families dogs over the last five years. I work full time but am able to work flexibly from home every day apart from Thursdays. Monday and Thursday evenings I have a sports club 1900-2200 so would have to be out during those times. I am really happy to adapt my care to the individual needs of each animal. I love walking and also snuggling up at home. I am happy putting dogs in crates if needed and keeping an eye on them outside where not fully secure.

Marcus came to look after Lenny for 1 night, and I could tell Len had been well looked after when I got back as he was a very happy boy! You also wouldn’t have known anyone had been here because the house was exactly how I had left it. Len is a 35kg doodle full of energy but also very needy and slightly nervous so he perhaps isn’t the easiest dog to look after. However when Marcus came over prior to the visit it was very clear that Len was not nervous at all around him and in fact was rather excited… which Marcus handled well 😅. I had lots of pictures and videos, a meet up before hand, Marcus took lots of notes on Len’s care, was flexible on timings and is generally a very lovely person. I would definitely book doggy care with Marcus again.

I have experience looking after pets for friends and family, including feeding, walking, playing, giving lots of attention, and making sure they stick to their usual routine. I also have a 4-year-old Pomeranian of my own, so I know firsthand the love, patience, and care that pets need every day. I’m reliable, caring, and happy to provide regular updates and photos so you can feel confident that your pet is safe and happy. I’m also available at short notice whenever possible, making me a great option if you need last-minute pet care. Whether your pet enjoys long walks, playtime, cuddles, or simply keeping to their normal routine, I’ll make sure they receive plenty of love and attention while you’re away. I look forward to meeting you and your furry friend! I’m self-employed and work from home, which gives me a very flexible schedule. This means I can easily plan my day around a pet’s routine, whether that’s walks, feeding times, playtime, or simply keeping them company. I genuinely love being around animals and enjoy giving them plenty of attention, care, and affection, so looking after pets fits naturally into my daily life. I always aim to keep pets comfortable by following their usual routine as closely as possible. I’ll make sure they’re fed on time, have fresh water, enjoy plenty of exercise, play, and attention, and receive lots of love and reassurance. I understand that every pet has their own personality and needs, so I take the time to get to know them and make them feel safe and relaxed. I’m also happy to send regular updates and photos so you can enjoy peace of mind while you’re away.

About: Our family dog passed away 2 years ago now, and after spending 11 amazing years with her, I would love to take care of other people’s loved pups as they are most definitely part of the family! Dogs make a massive difference in our lives and we are so lucky to have them as our own! I am currently training as a student midwife and have great caring skills, although for people- but I am able to adapt my skills in different situations. I will always ensure that your pets needs are put first and will ensure they are always taken care of as if they are my own. To note, no additional people will be assisting me to look after your dog. I’m currently a student midwife in university and have lots of free time most evenings and some weekends! I would ensure your pup is cared for correctly and treat them as I would my own :) Due to student accommodation, I would only be able to attend your residence for pet sitting or I love a nice walk! I would ensure they get as much exercise as they need!

My family and I could not be happier with the care that Izzabelle provided for our dog, Huxley, whilst we spent the day at our son's graduation. From the very beginning, Izzabelle responded promptly to all my messages, and she was incredibly polite. Izzabelle arrived punctually at the agreed time. Huxley absolutely loved all the cuddles, tasty dog treats and the extra fuss he received from Izzabelle when she looked after him for the day. We especially appreciated the regular updates and the photos of Huxley having a great time, that Izzabelle sent us during her stay - it gave us complete piece of mind while we were out for the day. We highly recommend Izzabelle. And Huxley does too!

Leanne looked after our two boys for four nights during a trip to Venice. Would definitely recommend using her services as Leanne was brilliant from start to finish. We arranged a meet & greet beforehand so that the boys could familiarise themselves with her and then we received regular updates, including pics whilst away. We will be using Leanne again (hopefully in June) for our next break away. Your little ones will be in safe hands, you can rest easy knowing that when you come home they will be content and will have enjoyed their time with her. Our house was left spotless! Thank you Leanne.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Vale of Glamorgan walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Vale of Glamorgan choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
