“I cannot recommend Emily enough. She was the first sitter to be we have ever left our new anxious rescue dog with and she was not only extremely patient, but a calming presence and extremely empathetic to her unique needs. Emily came by in advance and ensure she understood Tilly’s needs and tendencies and took extra care to make our very shy dog as comfortable as possible. She was also extremely communicative and kept us informed throughout her stay. Thanks again Emily! We can’t wait to have you back someday.”

“Ashley was very accommodating fitting us in at short notice. He took brilliant care of our 2 dogs and 2 cats, sending daily updates and pictures from walks. We got back to a very happy household.”

About: I have been surrounded by dogs my entire life and come from a big family of pet owners, making dog care second nature to me. I'm proud to be a truly safe pair of hands for dogs of all sizes, from large breeds to small toy dogs. Family and friends always trust me with their pups when they go on holiday, knowing they'll get a loving home environment. Plus, I live right by huge parks, so your dog will get plenty of fantastic walks, fresh air, and dedicated attention while you are away! I work weekdays from 8 am to 4 pm as a tax advisor, but your pup will rarely be alone! My partner works from home 2 to 3 days a week, providing excellent midweek availability and continuous company. On the weekends, I am fully free and readily available for dog walking and boarding services, even on short notice. Whether it's a structured midweek routine or a last-minute weekend stay, we can easily accommodate your pet's needs. We live in a wonderful flat that features a completely private, securely fenced garden. Because it can only be accessed directly through our back door, it provides a perfectly safe, controlled environment for your dog to explore and roam around freely without any outside interference. Our home is also situated right next to a massive park, making it absolutely ideal for long, fun daily walks. Your dog will enjoy a peaceful, secure home away from home with plenty of outdoor time!
“Brad was an excellent sitter for our greyhound Collin. He was communicating through out the sit and very attentive to Collins needs. He looked after both Collin and the house with equal measure. Colin had an excellent time and had clearly had lots of walks and pets in our absence. Brad is clearly very loving with pets and easily bond's with them. We would definitely book him again !”

“My Benny had a lovely time with Sophie. She stayed overnight and looked after my place well. I enjoyed the photos and little updates she sent. Highly recommend Sophie and I will definitely be booking again if our diaries align.”

“What an amazing 1st time experience of using Rover. Couldn’t have wished for better than Maya. She looked after our 13 year old dog as if he were her own - plenty of cwtshes & short walks (with plenty of pics!) The house was immaculate as well. She even came round the night before to meet us & Macs as we were leaving early the day of the sitting. Diolch/ thanks Maya - we’ll be in touch soon for our next trip away”

About: Hi there! I’m Emma, based in the Radyr, Fairwater and Danescourt area of Cardiff, and I absolutely love spending time with animals of all shapes and sizes 🐾💜 Josh and I work as a team, and we’ve been cat sitting and dog walking across Cardiff for the past 5 years! While we do both, we mainly focus on cats and have lots of experience caring for all kinds of feline personalities, from shy and nervous to playful and affectionate! I grew up surrounded by cats and now have two very spoiled fur babies of my own, so I know just how important it is to find someone you trust with them. We genuinely treat every pet as if they were our own and take the time to understand their routines and little quirks! Whether it’s keeping your cat company at home, sticking to their usual routine, or getting your dog out for a fun and enriching walk, we’ll make sure they feel happy, safe and well looked after! We’re experienced in all aspects of pet care, including feeding routines and administering medication if needed. We both work for the NHS and are DBS checked, so you can feel completely at ease knowing your pets are in safe and caring hands! We’re new to Rover, but we do have plenty of experience through other pet sitting and dog walking platforms! We’d love to meet you and your pets soon! 🐾💜 Pet care fits really naturally into our routine! Because we both work for the NHS in flexible roles, we’re able to plan our days around visits, walks and check-ins. This means we can be available for morning, lunchtime and evening visits depending on what your pet needs! As a team, Josh and I can also share responsibilities, which gives us even more flexibility and reliability. We’re used to fitting pet care into our weekly routine and prioritising it, so your pets will always have consistent, dedicated time and attention. We’re especially mindful with cats to keep to their usual routines, as we know how important that is for their comfort and wellbeing, and we’re equally happy getting out for regular dog walks throughout the day! Just let us know what works best for you and your pet, and we’ll do our best to accommodate! 🐾💜 Your pet’s safety, comfort and routine are always our top priority! 🐾💜 When caring for pets in their own home, we do everything we can to keep things as familiar and stress-free as possible. We stick closely to your pet’s usual routine, including feeding times, walks, litter tray or garden access, and any medication if needed. We take time to build trust with each pet, especially cats who may be a little shy at first, and always go at their pace. We’re very respectful of your home and make sure everything is left exactly as we found it. We’re also happy to send regular updates, photos and little messages so you can feel reassured while you’re away! For dog walks, we prioritise safe routes and environments, keep dogs on lead unless agreed otherwise, and always make sure they’re secure, happy and well exercised. As NHS professionals and DBS checked sitters, trust and reliability are really important to us. We treat every pet as if they were our own and every home with care and respect! If you have any specific instructions or preferences, we’re always happy to follow them closely to make sure your pet gets the best possible care! 🐾💜

“Ella did and incredible job with my fur kids. She communicated well, sent photos and left the place clean. The front desk at my building also complimented how well she handled them (they love my dogs 😂)”

“Lydia looked after my 6 year old Lab for a couple of nights. She updated me with photos and Archie was very chilled and happy when we got home. He had obviously been on his best behaviour as she described him as “perfect”! I would happily recommend Lydia and ask her to sit Archie again.”

“Rhiannon was lovely and friendly and asked all the right questions at the meet and greet. She sent updates and was very flexible when i wasn’t 100% sure of the date and time i would be home. Would recommend and book with her again.”

“Alice was absolutely amazing, I would highly recommend her! Our dog Mickey can be a little anxious but he instantly felt at ease with her and she sent us lots of updates with how he was doing :)”

About: I’m a massive dog / animal lover. In terms of sitting experience, I have looked after the dogs of friends and family a lot, both in their homes and at mine. I’ve been trusted with dogs of all ages and sizes. Other animal experiences include working with / looking after horses since I was a teen (so well over 5 years of experience with animals.) I work from home, and can pretty much work anywhere so I can bring my laptop to you, as long as you have wifi! I work 8.30-5, but can be very flexible and will be able to spend time away from my laptop to have a play, a cuddle or a walk with your dog. I’m not tied to it all day. If your pet comes to me, I can do the same. I might need to pop out in the evenings for food shopping etc. At the weekends, I can take them out on adventures (walks) around by me or your home. We can also chill and watch TV or do whatever your dog needs to do! I can be very flexible to make sure your dog is happy. I can be very flexible in terms of the care I can offer - I can stay at your home, or your pet can come to me! I have nice public walkways and open spaces near me down in Cardiff Bay, or can go for a drive to other nearby fields. I can even meet up with other friends who also have dogs, and can offer a little socialisation if your dog is OK with other dogs. I do live in a flat, so I don’t have a garden, but I can take your dog out as often as they need! It gives me an excellent excuse to get out of the flat during the day. I live on my own, so it would be nice to have company. Happy to send updates as and when as well so you know your pet is in safe hands and doing well.

About: I have taken care of pets for several friends and family, including dogs, cats and horses, as well as having my own cat for 4 years now. I always take extra care with the specific needs of the animals I am with and the requests of their owners. As I currently work in a school, I am available full-time during weekdays until term starts again in September. I can be available at any time and for multiple nights. I am very patient when it comes to gaining the trust of animals and will follow any instruction or guidance with regards to caring for your pets as closely as possible.
“Milla was amazing!!! She came to meet Arthur before her stay and Arthur loved her. She sent me regular updates and photo's whilst I was away. I couldn't have chosen anyone better. Would have her again anytime. Thank you so much Milla.”

“5 stars across the board. Blake had a great time with Paula. He played and roached within 2 days, which is highly unusual for him. I received regular updates from Paula, can't recommend enough.”

About: I've taken care of dog's since I was 25 years old and I am very experienced by taking care of them and playing around with them I'm currentlyworking part time. So I can easily fit your baby around my schedule. Walk around with the dog and play with your baby. I have a fenced garden but I don't currently have a dog. I really hope you understand and know that I really love dogs.

About: I've always owned dogs and cats growing up, and currently live with two cocker spaniels and a ragdoll cat. I frequently become relied upon by family members to dog sit, most popularly by my dad who owns an XL American Bull. I've had dogs from the range of shuh tzu's to staffie's to the American Bull mentioned, which has made confident in my abilities no matter the breed, size or personality! I'm currently going back to university to study my Masters Degree, which is why this type of arrangement is ideal for me (and hopefully for you too!) I'm currently going back to university for my Masters Degree in Social Work which is only two days a week. This leaves me with plenty of time to have fun and keep your furry loved ones company while you are away making memories! From dogs that just want someone to sit near (who will make the best study buddies) to high energy and playful dogs (the ones that make you forget all of lifes stress while you focus on whatever they want to play with), I can guarentee the best service for them from me. Unfortunately, I am not able to have animals come to my house - the two cocker spaniels and the ragdoll cat have rule of that here! I am more than happy to sit in for the days, or stay overnight when needed! I am happy to meet first (which will hopefully also include the dog) but rezt assured no matter how we start this off, your animals are the priority.
About: I’ve taken care of all sorts of animals from a very young age. From mice, Guinea pigs and chinchillas to cats, dogs and ponies. I regularly help friends, family and neighbours with any sort of animal care they need and really enjoy it! I’m currently unemployed so have lots of time to give to your fur baby! Once I get back to work my hours will be fairly regular so will happily work around these to make a reliable schedule. More than happy to stay at a pet owners home and will commit to any training (crate, puppy etc) and all the cuddles your pooch might need!

“Amazing! He comeback so relaxed! You guys are amazing! Will definitely be coming back. This is the first time we ever used a dog sitter and you put me and ease straight away. Thank you for all the updates.”

Jeffrey was great...he arrived on time and sent me photos throughout the day, which I appreciated. Marshall took to him immediately and they spent lots of time taking walks and cuddling on the couch. Jeffrey followed our requests and we will definitely use him again.
My family and I could not be happier with the care that Izzabelle provided for our dog, Huxley, whilst we spent the day at our son's graduation. From the very beginning, Izzabelle responded promptly to all my messages, and she was incredibly polite. Izzabelle arrived punctually at the agreed time. Huxley absolutely loved all the cuddles, tasty dog treats and the extra fuss he received from Izzabelle when she looked after him for the day. We especially appreciated the regular updates and the photos of Huxley having a great time, that Izzabelle sent us during her stay - it gave us complete piece of mind while we were out for the day. We highly recommend Izzabelle. And Huxley does too!

Leanne looked after our two boys for four nights during a trip to Venice. Would definitely recommend using her services as Leanne was brilliant from start to finish. We arranged a meet & greet beforehand so that the boys could familiarise themselves with her and then we received regular updates, including pics whilst away. We will be using Leanne again (hopefully in June) for our next break away. Your little ones will be in safe hands, you can rest easy knowing that when you come home they will be content and will have enjoyed their time with her. Our house was left spotless! Thank you Leanne.

Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Vale of Glamorgan choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
