Lauren looked after our dog Teddy for a morning as he struggles with separation anxiety. We contacted Lauren and arranged a meet and greet and booked her in straight away! We knew from the meet and greet that she would be a perfect fit to look after Teddy, she is so lovely and made us feel completely at ease from the get go! We felt comfortable in her staying at our house and knew Teddy would be looked after☺️ we came home to a very happy boy and won’t hesitate in booking Lauren again!!

Oh my goodness Christine was absolutely amazing with Bertie, we did a meet & greet a week before which was perfect as Bert remembered her when she arrived! I got so many updates I didn’t have to worry about him once, I came home to a lovely calm dog who had clearly had the best day with his new bestie

This is the first time we have used the site as our usual dog sitter had fallen ill so we contacted Ashleigh with very short notice. She communicated straight away and was very responsive to arrange an on line meeting. She soon put all my worries to rest and we felt very happy booking her. Ashleigh was great with messages and photos throughout the sit, and left the house immaculate with two happy dogs. Thank you!

Jade was an amazing sitter for our 2 boys. They can be a handful but this didn’t phase her and they seemed to really love having her sit them. She sent photos and have updates which was really reassuring. The house is as also really looked after and she went above and beyond by striping the bed and remaking it so we didn’t have to. A really lovey touch and really appreciated. We will definitely be booking her again. Thanks Jade x

About: I’ve been working at a dog kennels and cattery as well as a small animal pet boarding for the last two years while studying animal behaviour and welfare at Hartpury University. I also have experience with dog training as I’ve trained one of my dogs for competitive dog agility. I’ve kept many different small animals and dogs and cats from a young age. As I’m studying animal behaviour and welfare at university I have allot of spare time as well as being really flexible this means I can be available. At my small animal boarding job which is based in someone’s home I clean and care for the small animals being boarded. This can also involve visiting houses and caring for animals in other peoples homes.

About: Hello, I'm Danielle! I graduated in 2021 with FdSc Animal Management from Hartpury University and I am a Veterinary Nursing Assistant (DipVNA) and work in a veterinary hospital in Bristol. I have been working with animals since I was 16. I love being outdoors and walking and providing care for animals. I am a confident animal handler, especially dogs and enjoy exercising animals and providing enrichment. I currently work night shifts as an apprenticeships student. I absolutely adore my job but I do have a little client base as a walker and sitter also! This is via Rover, cat in a flat and privately. I am currently a OOH veterinary nursing assistant. My working pattern is 7 nights on, 7 days off. I will always try to keep my calendar up to date - I can be available on shift days in the morning if dates are on the calendar but my self care must be a priority. I have previous experience petting sitting in clients homes via staying over and drop ins/ walks. I have had key holding and key safe responsibilities. I always ask to meet clients and their animals first to see if it is a correct fit and if you are comfortable with myself going into your home. I am always available on my mobile if you have any concerns.

About: I’ve been caring for dogs through family pets for many years, and for the past three years I’ve been the proud owner of two dogs, Teddy and Aya. They’re both energetic, loving, and very social dogs who keep me active and on my toes every day. Caring for Teddy and Aya has given me hands-on experience with daily walks, feeding schedules, playtime, basic training, and making sure dogs feel safe and comfortable in my care. They love being around other dogs and especially enjoy playtime, so your pup will always have friendly company. While my experience hasn’t been professional, I truly love dogs of all breeds and sizes and treat every dog as if they were my own. I’m excited to provide reliable, attentive, and loving care and make sure your dog feels happy and at home while you’re away. I’m always happy to send updates, photos, and messages while you’re away so you can see how your dog is doing and feel at ease. I know how much pets mean to their families, and I treat every dog with the same care and love I give my own. I currently work part-time from home, which allows me plenty of time to give your puppy lots of attention, care, and play throughout the day. I’m available Monday through Saturday and can be flexible to meet your pet’s needs. I have a fenced front porch as well as a garden where dogs can enjoy fresh air and supervised outdoor time. Inside the home, dogs are welcome to relax freely and be included in daily activities. At night, I usually allow dogs to sleep in the bed with me for comfort and companionship, but I’m also happy to use a crate if that’s what your dog is used to or if you prefer. I always follow the pet owner’s instructions regarding routines, sleeping arrangements, feeding, and care to ensure your pet feels at home and well cared for.

About: Hello! My name is Olivia, and I’m a 24-year-old final year postgraduate vet student. I grew up just outside Arbroath, a small fishing village in the north of Scotland, surrounded by animals - from dogs and chickens to two farm kittens we rescued from a barn. I have lots of experience caring for a wide range of animals, both at home and abroad. This includes volunteering at a rescue centre in Costa Rica and on a game reserve in South Africa. Closer to home, I’ve regularly looked after pets for family and friends. (Full disclosure: I now stick to care rather than grooming after a childhood attempt at trimming my uncle’s spaniel’s ears left her with a very lopsided haircut!) Alongside my studies, I also work as a lifeguard, which has strengthened my ability to stay calm in emergencies and prioritise safety at all times. When visiting my family, I care for our very needy Vizsla, Scout, and our more independent and aloof rescue cat, Lunar. Through my veterinary training, I’ve also gained hands-on experience caring for animals with a variety of medical needs, including those who are unwell or require extra attention. I'm very active and enjoy running and long walks, so I’m always happy to take energetic dogs out for adventures. Equally, I enjoy quieter days painting and can provide a calm, relaxed environment for more anxious pets. I’m currently available for dog walking and pet sitting between my clinical rotations. I’m also confident administering medications, including injections, if required. I’m currently in my final year of vet school, so during breaks between rotation blocks I can dedicate my time fully to your pet. My schedule can vary, which means I’m often able to offer flexible, ad hoc bookings, including short-notice requests where availability allows. I’m very outdoorsy and enjoy running, so I’m always happy to take high-energy dogs out for longer walks or runs. I’m also happy to work around your pet’s usual routine, whether that’s early mornings, evenings, or specific feeding and medication schedules. I can provide regular updates for peace of mind while you’re away. I currently offer pet care in your home and dog walking, as I’m unable to host pets in my own home. I find that staying in a pet’s familiar environment often helps them feel more relaxed and settled while you’re away. As a final-year veterinary student, your pet’s safety and wellbeing are always my top priority. I’m confident recognising signs of illness or distress and can act quickly if anything seems off. I’m also experienced in administering medications, including injections, where needed. I take care to follow your pet’s usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding, exercise, and any specific instructions you provide. I’m respectful of your home and will always leave it clean and secure. I’m happy to provide regular updates, photos, and check-ins so you can feel reassured that your pet is safe, comfortable, and well cared for.

About: I have looked after my families two cocker spaniels for over nine years, from walking to bathing, from puppies to elderly. I regularly walk a dog in central London, so have plenty of experience in the big city! I also have lots of experience looking after family and friends dogs on my own for multiple weeks at a time, including German Shepards! I, therefore, have experience and am confident looking after dogs of all sizes and all ages! I have recently graduated university and since returned from travelling and I’m looking for some engaging, fun work over the summer months. I’m available all hours every day and very flexible so please get in touch! I live in Nailsea but I’m able to travel all around by car. I’m very familiar with dog walking routes all over Nailsea, Backwell, and Clevedon and would love to explore new places!

Emma was fantastic. Willow is a sensitive, sometimes anxious dog. We needed someone to look after her in our house and give her some special attention. Emma took great care of Willow, keeping us updated frequently while we were away, which allowed us to really relax and enjoy our holiday. We will definitely be booking Emma's services for future trips.

FAQs for House Sitting - North Somerset

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in North Somerset on Rover is £33.35 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of June 2026, there are 2,110 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across North Somerset. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred North Somerset walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in North Somerset choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
