“Lauren looked after our dog Teddy for a morning as he struggles with separation anxiety. We contacted Lauren and arranged a meet and greet and booked her in straight away! We knew from the meet and greet that she would be a perfect fit to look after Teddy, she is so lovely and made us feel completely at ease from the get go! We felt comfortable in her staying at our house and knew Teddy would be looked after☺️ we came home to a very happy boy and won’t hesitate in booking Lauren again!!”

“Jade was an amazing sitter for our 2 boys. They can be a handful but this didn’t phase her and they seemed to really love having her sit them. She sent photos and have updates which was really reassuring. The house is as also really looked after and she went above and beyond by striping the bed and remaking it so we didn’t have to. A really lovey touch and really appreciated. We will definitely be booking her again. Thanks Jade x”

About: I’ve been caring for dogs through family pets for many years, and for the past three years I’ve been the proud owner of two dogs, Teddy and Aya. They’re both energetic, loving, and very social dogs who keep me active and on my toes every day. Caring for Teddy and Aya has given me hands-on experience with daily walks, feeding schedules, playtime, basic training, and making sure dogs feel safe and comfortable in my care. They love being around other dogs and especially enjoy playtime, so your pup will always have friendly company. While my experience hasn’t been professional, I truly love dogs of all breeds and sizes and treat every dog as if they were my own. I’m excited to provide reliable, attentive, and loving care and make sure your dog feels happy and at home while you’re away. I’m always happy to send updates, photos, and messages while you’re away so you can see how your dog is doing and feel at ease. I know how much pets mean to their families, and I treat every dog with the same care and love I give my own. I currently work part-time from home, which allows me plenty of time to give your puppy lots of attention, care, and play throughout the day. I’m available Monday through Saturday and can be flexible to meet your pet’s needs. I have a fenced front porch as well as a garden where dogs can enjoy fresh air and supervised outdoor time. Inside the home, dogs are welcome to relax freely and be included in daily activities. At night, I usually allow dogs to sleep in the bed with me for comfort and companionship, but I’m also happy to use a crate if that’s what your dog is used to or if you prefer. I always follow the pet owner’s instructions regarding routines, sleeping arrangements, feeding, and care to ensure your pet feels at home and well cared for.

“Jasmine looked after Bilbo and stayed in my flat for a second time, this time for two full weeks. She sent updates pretty much every day and I could see the two of them were having a fab time, and it was basically a continuation of what Bilbo is used to with me at home - an owner’s dream! I got back to a spotless flat as well which I really appreciated.”

About: My background as a professional animal trainer with 10 years of hands-on experience, including working with a wide range of species means I have a deep understanding of animal behaviour and behaviour modification. This helps me read body language, prevent issues before they arise, and support pets who may be anxious, reactive, or who struggle adjusting to new environments. I place a strong emphasis on high welfare standards and kind, ethical handling. I’m patient, calm, and consistent, and I tailor my care to each animal’s individual needs. I’m comfortable supporting young animals as they learn good habits, and providing thoughtful care for senior pets who may need a slower pace or extra consideration and everything in between. Above all, I aim to make pets feel safe, understood, and relaxed while giving owners peace of mind.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in North Somerset choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
