“Nina was the best. She came to house sit for the whole day. She had immediate rapport with Honey and sent photos through the day. Nina was attentive & reassuring so that i felt happy about giving responsibility over to her for my dog & house for the day. Honey was cared for really well. Highly recommended.”

“Cherie was great, everything went smoothly and she sent us updates and pictures. Luna was very relaxed with her and the house was left tidy. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Cherie to anyone. We will and are using Cherie again.”

“This was the first time that we had left Charlie with someone outside the immediate family so we were a little apprehensive. We needn’t have worried, Veronika was absolutely amazing. From the moment she walked in Charlie was smitten. Regular updates, photos and videos, were sent over the 2 days so we could see how settled he was. In fact, when I finally got home, Charlie sat looking out the window for at least an hour hoping for her return. Thanks Veronika”

“What an amazing sitter! We came back to a very happy, handsome (clean and trimmed ) chap . Our house, garden and greenhouses were looked after brilliantly too . Everyday we had an update with pictures, which is reassuring when you have an old dog. We really can’t thank you enough and without hesitation…A BRILLIANT DOG / HOUSE SITTER . Thank you”

“Lauren looked after our dog Teddy for a morning as he struggles with separation anxiety. We contacted Lauren and arranged a meet and greet and booked her in straight away! We knew from the meet and greet that she would be a perfect fit to look after Teddy, she is so lovely and made us feel completely at ease from the get go! We felt comfortable in her staying at our house and knew Teddy would be looked after☺️ we came home to a very happy boy and won’t hesitate in booking Lauren again!!”

“A lovely man! Olive immediately took to Cymon and was very happy. The house was left as found, and bed sheets stripped (thank you!). I'd definitely recommend. Many thanks again”

“Danielle looked after our two dogs, a 6th old puppy and 18yr old. She was amazing, prompt replys, communication was brilliant and made us feel relaxed that the dogs were well cared for. The dogs had a great time, very relaxed in their own home. Thank you so much Danielle”
“Monika was fantastic with my little dachshund. He isn’t the easiest dog to care for but felt very confident leaving him with her She was tidy and respectful of the house I would have no problem asking her to come again”

“Nina looked after our french bulldog Bella in our own home for the weekend (Friday-Sunday) whilst my family & I went to a family wedding. Beforehand, Nina gladly came over to meet Bella, finding out everything she needed to know in order to look after her well. This included checking Bella's routine, diet, habits etc. We knew that Nina would be popping in throughout the weekend but we feel that she went above and beyond. As we felt Bella did not need overnight visits, Nina came first thing in the morning to let her out etc and stayed for every visit at least 2-3 hours - visiting throughout the day for extended periods, before settling her for bed. Nina also sent us regular photos and videos which reassured us that Bella was being well cared for. In addition, Nina helped to train Bella which was definitely an added bonus. We 100% trusted Nina & could not have found a better dog sitter. We would absolutely recommend Nina to anyone requiring a pet sitter. Thank you so much for taking care of our family dog so well x”

“We had a wonderful experience with Rowena looking after our dogs. She was calm, friendly and clearly loves animals, and our dogs took to her straight away. She sent us plenty of updates and photos while we were away, which was so reassuring and allowed us to relax knowing they were happy and well cared for. It was such a comfort knowing they were in safe and caring hands. I wouldn't hesitate to book with Rowena again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter.”

“Luisa did a fantastic job sitting for my newly rehomed 1 year old pup. She took the time to pop over and meet him the day before which I really appreciated. She was great with Freddie who seemed to take an instant liking to her and was very patient and understanding of him being quite new and also a bit unsettled by an emergency vet appointment that day. Would happily recommend and use her services again.”

“Maya is lovely and our dogs loved her. She came to meet them before the stay which put my mind at rest as we’ve never had a sitter before. She updated me on how they were doing. Thanks Maya!”

“Desiree was quick to respond to my short notice for a weekend dogsitter. She arranged a meet and greet promptly and Willow took to her immediately. I can recommend Desiree with confidence.”

“Ayla kindly looked after our dog whilst we were out for the evening. She was really friendly and very communicative throughout the whole process. She gave us regular updates and was a pleasure to work with. Would recommend to anyone with a dog!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Mendip walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mendip choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
