“Nina was the best. She came to house sit for the whole day. She had immediate rapport with Honey and sent photos through the day. Nina was attentive & reassuring so that i felt happy about giving responsibility over to her for my dog & house for the day. Honey was cared for really well. Highly recommended.”

“Cherie was great, everything went smoothly and she sent us updates and pictures. Luna was very relaxed with her and the house was left tidy. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Cherie to anyone. We will and are using Cherie again.”

“We had a fantastic experience with Veronika. She came over for a pre-visit before our holiday and was incredibly helpful, taking the time to answer all of our questions. While we were away, she took fantastic care of our dog and kept the house beautifully clean and tidy. Her communication was amazing, and we loved receiving the regular photo and video updates. We felt totally at peace knowing everything was in such good hands. We have already quite happily booked her again for our next break!”

About: I grew up in the countryside with a large menagerie of animals and then went into pet sitting. I have several regular clients who book me on repeat every year because I provide a great level of care for their pets. Genuine animal lover and love getting out and about in the countryside with a four legged friend or 3. Fun, fresh air and snuggles guaranteed. I work from home and I'm self employed which means I'm free to go for walkies whenever it's needed and I'm always with your pet to keep them company. I have a home educated daughter who is a real animal lover and has grown up pet sitting with me since she was a few months old. We both love to get out and about in the countryside and love the company of a dog or two on our rambles. We know the area well and always seek out great dog walks and places for them to play. I have a fenced garden and a warm, cosy home where pets can hop onto the bed or sofas for cuddles. I live on the edge of the countryside so only 5 minutes walk before we reach open fields, hills and streams for playtime. I have been pet sitting for many years and always take impeccable care of their homes and pets.
“Evan was great. I needed someone to look after my little guy for 2-3 days at the last minute, and Evan was able to help out, and did a great job. Pickle made a buddy and Evan left my place as he found it. I’ll definitely use Evan again and would recommend him to others.”

About: I grew up with animals of all sorts in Kenya, and have had various pets throughout my life: dogs, cats, rabbits, gerbils, tortoises, fish, and a giant snail. My last dog (boxer) was a family pet, which I trained from a puppy, and cared for until she grew old. My cats came to me as kittens and lived long happy lives with me. I've looked after friends' and neighbours' dogs, walking, playing with them, and having them overnight or for several days at a time. I have a large garden in rural Somerset - perfectly suited for dogs. I love all animals! I am a freelance artist, and work mainly from home. I can offer many hours of company in the daytime, and am always at home overnight. I wake early so the morning feed and walk is easily done. I have a large spacious fenced garden, in a rural village in Somerset. I keep pets downstairs to roam freely in the sitting room and kitchen. I can crate your pet if needed, when I go out.
“Hannah was just the best, we couldn’t have asked for a better dog/house sitter. She is so loving and caring, sent us photo’s everyday of our doggy (always kept us in the loop of things). She really goes out of her way to make the animal feel special and loved. She even kept our house spotless (just a bonus). We will definitely be using her in the future again!!”

“Great communication and meeting prior to the booking. Frequent photos and updates whilst away and everyone looked very happy and settled. We came back to happy animals and a house like how we left it. Would definitely recommend Tess!”

“Lauren looked after our dog Teddy for a morning as he struggles with separation anxiety. We contacted Lauren and arranged a meet and greet and booked her in straight away! We knew from the meet and greet that she would be a perfect fit to look after Teddy, she is so lovely and made us feel completely at ease from the get go! We felt comfortable in her staying at our house and knew Teddy would be looked after☺️ we came home to a very happy boy and won’t hesitate in booking Lauren again!!”

“Monika was an excellent dog and house sitter. Very clear and quick communication right from the start. She had a lovely rapport with our 2 year old Cockapoo from the first moment she met him. Monika looked after our house really well including washing all the bed sheets - hers and ours, without being asked, and re-dressing the beds for our return. Highly recommend. Thank you Monika”

“Edita was great with our 2 year old fluff ball! She took excellent care of him for a week and the house was left immaculate. She sent us regular updates and photos, so we knew he was happy and having a great time! Edita was super flexible in arranging an initial meet and greet and staying with our boy until our delayed flight landed back in the UK. Would 1000% recommend and welcome her back again, which we know our pup would enjoy too!”

Having never left our dogs before we were very nervous about going away but we needn’t have worried! Karen looked after our dogs so well and I’m not sure they even missed us that much which was great really. Would highly recommend Karen and will definitely be using her services again in the future!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Mendip walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mendip choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
