Nina was the best. She came to house sit for the whole day. She had immediate rapport with Honey and sent photos through the day. Nina was attentive & reassuring so that i felt happy about giving responsibility over to her for my dog & house for the day. Honey was cared for really well. Highly recommended.

Cherie was great, everything went smoothly and she sent us updates and pictures. Luna was very relaxed with her and the house was left tidy. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Cherie to anyone. We will and are using Cherie again.

About: I recently said goodbye to my dog after 16 and a half years so have experience of caring for a puppy through to a very senior dog. During that time, i often relied on the services of a sitter or doggy day care so I understand the importance of knowing your pet is in safe hands whilst you’re away. I’ve grown up with both dogs and cats as family pets and, in recent years, looked after my mother’s cat when needed. For all pet care services (walking; sitting; drop-in) I offer, it will be me providing the service. As a recently retired teacher, I’m available to pet sit locally on a full time basis. I don’t have my own pet now so have quite a lot of flexibility. I will follow the advice you give on walks, feeding times/ amounts and likes/ dislikes to help maintain routine as much as possible. I would prefer to care for your pet(s) in your own home as I think it minimises the stress for them. However, I would consider small dogs to stay at our house for a short amount of time. We don’t have any pets. I enjoy walking in the country if this is something your pet(s) like too.

Danielle looked after our two dogs, a 6th old puppy and 18yr old. She was amazing, prompt replys, communication was brilliant and made us feel relaxed that the dogs were well cared for. The dogs had a great time, very relaxed in their own home. Thank you so much Danielle

About: I have grown up surrounded by animals and have been caring for them as long as I can remember. I come from a farming background so have lots of experience with a variety of animals and taught me how to cater to their individual needs. I also have experience with both more elderly dogs and young pups which has allowed me to understand and provide care specialised to their needs. I am an active person who enjoys spending time outdoors so would ensure your animals get all the exercise and enrichment they need. Pet care fits easily into my weekly routine, as I am available from the afternoon onwards on weekdays and throughout the weekend. I am organised and reliable, ensuring I have plenty of time to provide each pet with the care, attention and companionship they need while following their usual routine as closely as possible. I understand that trust is essential when caring for someone else's pet and home. I will always follow your instructions carefully, maintain your pet's usual routine, and ensure they are safe, comfortable and well cared for. I will treat your home with respect, keep it secure, and provide regular updates for your peace of mind.

Absolutely fantastic service. We found ourselves in a bit of a last-minute bind with our new puppy, and Veronika couldn’t have been more helpful. She took the time to put us completely at ease, even coming over for a pre-visit chat—despite our rescheduling and general back-and-forth. Any initial hesitation on our part quickly disappeared. She’s a genuinely kind and compassionate person with a clear love for animals. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her.

Hannah was just the best, we couldn’t have asked for a better dog/house sitter. She is so loving and caring, sent us photo’s everyday of our doggy (always kept us in the loop of things). She really goes out of her way to make the animal feel special and loved. She even kept our house spotless (just a bonus). We will definitely be using her in the future again!!

About: Hello! I'm a part-time psychologist and an experienced, reliable pet sitter with a genuine love for animals. Caring for pets is something I do because I truly enjoy it, and it's one of my favourite ways to spend my free time. My experience comes from growing up with pets, as well as around 10 years of caring for animals in both my own home and other people's homes. I've looked after pets of all ages, from playful youngsters to senior companions who need a little extra patience and care. I've also volunteered as a fosterer for Cats Protection, helping cats settle into a safe, loving environment while they waited for their forever homes. I'm a huge nature lover, so whether your dog enjoys long countryside walks, woodland adventures or simply exploring the local park, I'll be just as happy as they are! Equally, if your pet prefers a slower pace, I'm more than content spending time at home providing company, cuddles and plenty of attention. Friends and family would describe me as reliable, trustworthy and calm, and I understand how important it is to know your pets are in safe hands while you're away. I'll care for them as if they were my own, making sure they receive lots of love, play, enrichment and, of course, plenty of fuss. Outside of work I enjoy walking, kayaking, music and discovering great food. I'm also fortunate to share my home with my partner, who is a wildlife photographer and conservationist, so we're a household that truly appreciates animals and the natural world. I'm a non-smoker, have my own transport, and I'm happy to adapt to your pet's routine to help them feel comfortable and settled. Thanks for reading. Let me know if you'd like to arrange a chat. I work part-time, spending one and a half days a week working from home and currently in the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Outside of those hours, I have plenty of time to give your pet the attention they deserve, whether that's playtime, cuddles, enrichment, or exercise throughout the week and at weekends. If your booking falls on one of my office days, we'll discuss it beforehand to make sure your pet won't be left alone for longer than they're comfortable with. When it comes to walks for dogs, I'll always follow your guidance on the frequency and length that best suits your dog. I'm an active person and love long walks and adventures, but I'm just as happy with shorter, gentler strolls if that's what your pet prefers. I own a comfortable apartment where I'm able to provide a safe, calm environment for cat care. To ensure every cat receives my full attention, I only care for one at a time (unless there are two cats from the same household). I don't have a garden or cat flap. If I'm caring for your pet in your home, you can be confident that I'll treat both your pet and your home with respect, leaving everything just as I found it. For house sitting bookings, I do require a reliable internet connection, as I work remotely during part of the week. Please let me know if you have any questions.

We felt comfortable in her staying at our house and knew Teddy would be looked after☺️ we came home to a very happy boy and won’t hesitate in booking Lauren again!!

Christopher was an excellent house and dog sitter. He was very professional, proactive on letting us know how our dog Maia was doing. He took her out for many walks and gave us updates on each one. When we got back Maia was extremely happy and comfortable. He was respectful with our rules with her and could tell she was very well taken care of. Christopher also left our place immaculate condition. Would recommend him anytime and will be our go to guy. It’s always hard leaving your dog with someone but Im happy we left her Christopher.

About: I am a reliable and intuitive pet sitter with a lifetime of hands-on experience caring for animals, having grown up with a father who was a vet. From an early age I learned not just the joy of having pets, but the responsibility that comes with properly caring for them - understanding animal behaviour, recognising subtle changes in health or mood, and appreciating the importance of routine and preventative care. Each animal has its own personality and needs, and I take time to build trust and provide calm, consistent care. As a mature and responsible mother, I am organised, dependable and respectful of both homes and routines. I understand how important peace of mind is when leaving a beloved pet, and I am committed to ensuring animals feel safe, well exercised, loved and thoroughly cared for while their owners are away. I work from home and can fit all pet care needs into a relaxed routine that works for your dog. I like to walk in the morning, after breakfast and depending on appetite often have another little perambulation in the afternoon Often it’s better for dogs to be in their own routine at home when their owners are away. Im happy to offer this service and will be with your dog/s for cuddles, feeding, walks and playtime. Please provide any details of routines you like maintained for me to implement. If home sitting doesn’t suit you, I can offer a home boarding service. I have a large home with a fenced garden and lots of fantastic countryside walks direct from my door. I have 2 friendly dogs to keep your pet company but will only take one dog into my home at any one time, so you can be assured they will get lots of love and attention. I am happy to accommodate a crate for your dog to sleep in, if that is their routine, and I am at home during the day for multiple toilet pit-stops and lots of attention.

About: I grew up with animals of all sorts in Kenya, and have had various pets throughout my life: dogs, cats, rabbits, gerbils, tortoises, fish, and a giant snail. My last dog (boxer) was a family pet, which I trained from a puppy, and cared for until she grew old. My cats came to me as kittens and lived long happy lives with me. I've looked after friends' and neighbours' dogs, walking, playing with them, and having them overnight or for several days at a time. I have a large garden in rural Somerset - perfectly suited for dogs. I love all animals! I am a freelance artist, and work mainly from home. I can offer many hours of company in the daytime, and am always at home overnight. I wake early so the morning feed and walk is easily done. I have a large spacious fenced garden, in a rural village in Somerset. I keep pets downstairs to roam freely in the sitting room and kitchen. I can crate your pet if needed, when I go out.

The average cost for House Sitting in Mendip on Rover is £40.25 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 1,672 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Mendip. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Mendip walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mendip choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
