“Robert and his family provided a home from home for Archie, helping him to settle in, and providing company through out the days of his stay, giving him regular walks and exercise and putting up with his quirks. We will be happy for Archie to holiday in their family home again.”

“Frances looked after Ruby for us overnight at very short notice, and we couldn’t have been happier with the care she provided. She was friendly, reliable, and Ruby was well looked after. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Frances to anyone looking for a trustworthy dog sitter, and we’d be delighted to book with her again in the future.”

“Rachel and Buster have been great with Toby . Lots of communication and funny updates and photos . Rachel has a great understanding of dogs and is a lighthearted warm carer … thank you”

“We're so happy we found Ashley! Our little Maltipoo can be a bit anxious, but he seemed so happy, calm, and well cared for when we picked him up. Ashley is incredibly friendly, kind and attentive, and very responsive to messages, even with our last minute booking. We felt completely at ease leaving Beauie with her and would highly recommend Ashley to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter. Thanks so much Ashley!”

“We used Brian as a last minute booking after we were let down by our original sitter. We are so grateful he was able to look after Goji at such short notice. Goji had a fantastic time at Brian’s - playing with other dogs in the garden and going on countryside walks. Brian clearly took great care of Goji and was very communicative throughout, sending regular photos and updates. We’re sure Goji would love to stay with Brian again and we hope to use him again soon.”

“Another amazing stay for Nelly! She always comes home tired after a few days with Melissa, who definitely makes her feel like one of the family! Would always recommend. Thanks again!”

“If I could give this lady 10 stars I would. We have a very anxious dachshund who is scared of most things. He has now stayed with Barbara twice and he absolutely loves it. Barbara is exactly the sort of person you would want to look after your dog while you are away. She is kind, caring and gives her dogs all the time and loving they need I would not hesitate to recommend her”

“Charlie was very well looked after by Fraser and his wife. She was settled and happy and she appeared to have made herself very much at home and from the photos, enjoyed herself thoroughly. I would definitely recommend using Fraser and we will be booking again in the future. Thank you so much for taking such good care of our little girl.”

“Natalie was absolutely lovely and we had total confidence in her from the outset. She came to meet Ted a few days before he stayed with her and took the trouble to get to know him She was always quick to respond, and kept us updated with photos throughout his stay. Ted clearly had a lovely time with her and even came home with some new toys! We highly recommend her.”

“Kate and her family were absolutely wonderful with Poppy! Since Kate works from home, Poppy had constant company, and she loved being spoiled by Kate's partner and teenage kids. Her large garden was perfect for relaxing. Communication was excellent throughout the stay—highly recommend Kate for anyone looking for a loving home environment!”

“Nicola looked after Roxy our Rottweiler for 2 weeks whilst we were away. She gave us regular updates/photos etc and reassured us she was fine. She really listened to everything we told her too. Shes finally back with us today and shes in her usual chair snoring away like nothing ever happened. I would use Nicola again and definitely recommend her to anyone thinking to book!”

“Charlotte did an amazing job with our dogs while they were with her. We received daily photo updates and couldn't ask for more. When we got there to take them home they looked well looked after and happy with Charlotte. Definitely will use her again when needed.”

We couldn't have asked for a better dog sitter for Obi while we were away for our wedding. From the moment they met, Obi (who is usually quite nervous around new people) took to Fran immediately, which gave us so much confidence. Throughout the two nights, Fran kept us updated with lovely photos and messages, which really put my mind at ease and meant we could relax and enjoy our special day knowing he was in such caring hands. It was clear that Obi was happy, well looked after and genuinely cared for. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Fran to anyone looking for a kind, reliable and trustworthy dog sitter. Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of our boy!

After one day of day care to help familiarise our labradoodle Isla with Rachel and her dog Buster, we left her boarding with them for two days. As Isla was already familiar with the environment, she appeared to settle quickly and we appreciated that Rachel was keen to keep to Isla's normal routines where possible. We could see from the photos she provided that Isla was enjoying her stay, particularly the regular and frequent walks (more I think than she has at home). We had absolutely no concerns arising from the two days boarding and we are totally relaxed at the thought of further visits. Thank you Rachel and Buster.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
