“We left our elderly terrier Indi with Rachel for an afternoon as we were visiting Wells to attend a family birthday lunch at a venue that was not dog friendly. As soon as we met Rachel and her dog Buster we knew that Indi was in safe hands and felt confident to leave her. The house was warm and comfortable, Indi was asleep on the sofa when we came to collect her. Thank You Rachel and Buster.”

“Although nervous about leaving Monty we needn’t have been . We had a meet and greet first and Nicolas and his wife put our minds at ease as they were such dog friendly people. We were sent photos during the day and Monty had the best time. Just want to say thank you, we recommend them and will definitely use them again”

About: I've had experience with all ages of dogs including puppies and older dogs. I've grown up with dogs all my life and seek them out at any opportunity! Including travelling around South East Asia where I volunteered in a dog rescue and rehabilitation facility for 2 weeks. I am currently unemployed due to being between two travelling trips (going away again in September) which means I have lots of free time to give to your pets! Previously I was a class teacher in a primary school for 3 years. When at home I have shared responsibility of bringing up a puppy (who is now 4), including walks and feeding. During my volunteering I was able responsible for cleaning, creating an inviting safe environment and administering medication.
“Rufus had a wonderful day with Jess and her family. He went straight in to the home with his tail wagging, and loved sniffing around the garden. Jess was very attentive to Rufus’s needs and he left very happy indeed. Would definitely recommend Jess for doggy day care.”

About: I grew up with animals of all sorts in Kenya, and have had various pets throughout my life: dogs, cats, rabbits, gerbils, tortoises, fish, and a giant snail. My last dog (boxer) was a family pet, which I trained from a puppy, and cared for until she grew old. My cats came to me as kittens and lived long happy lives with me. I've looked after friends' and neighbours' dogs, walking, playing with them, and having them overnight or for several days at a time. I have a large garden in rural Somerset - perfectly suited for dogs. I love all animals! I am a freelance artist, and work mainly from home. I can offer many hours of company in the daytime, and am always at home overnight. I wake early so the morning feed and walk is easily done. I have a large spacious fenced garden, in a rural village in Somerset. I keep pets downstairs to roam freely in the sitting room and kitchen. I can crate your pet if needed, when I go out.
“Otto had the best time with Sofia and her gorgeous pup Orla! Sofia had great communication throughout all stages of our booking and kept us up to date with photos. It’s always nice knowing you’re leaving your pup in a safe environment with friendly people and we are so grateful you could accommodate our late booking. We hope to bring Otto back soon and thank you so much!”

About: I’ve been surrounded by pets including dogs, horses and cats my whole life. I live on a farm surrounded by 4 dogs and 4 horses and am frequently responsible for their care. I am comfortable caring for any kind of pet, including very young puppies. One of my dogs has had litters, and I am frequently called upon by owners of the litters to pet sit while they are on holidays. I thoroughly enjoy the outdoors and am responsible for the majority of dog walking at home. I’m currently on summer holidays from my medical degree so I have plenty of free time all days of the week for pet care. I work every now and again for a weddings company but usually just once a week so my availability is very flexible. This also allows me to be flexible on very short notice. I have lots of experience in pet care as a foundation and will tailor this to your individual pets needs. I enjoy pets company but also am organised in a practical sense to ensure walking, feeding and cleanliness are all optimised for your pet.
“I cannot thank you enough Harry for looking after Bella at such short notice. She clearly had a lovely time in your company and seemed far more chilled out with you than with us in our holiday cottage. We will be visiting Somerset again soon, so i hope you will be available again for Bella day care.”

About: I wanted a dog my whole life and once I finally bought my own place thats exactly what I did. I have a 18 month old Whippet named Bobby. He's very calm and patient for his age, he's the perfect pooch to put any dog through their paces. He is so patient with Puppies and loves to sprint after or away from Bigger dogs. He's also happy following if you want your dog taken on a run. He's not precious or defensive with sharing his toys. I go on two hour walks every day. Roughly 12-1 & 4.30 - 5.30. I go for longer at the weekends. Rodden Meadow, Waylands, Spring Gardens & Watcombe Fields. Bobby is a great and reassuring companion for any dog. We have a garden a few minutes walk from our house with a cabin so we can all hangout in the open. Our cottage has stone floor so any puppy accidents are not an issue.
“Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Nazli was absolutely brilliant! She was an engaged, responsive and responsible dogsitter. I booked on short notice and Nazli was quick in her replies, reacted sensitive to my worries and we could organise everything in a minute. She was also happy with special requests and made my day much easier. I received wonderful updates and came back home to a very happy dog. Will book her again!”
“Rob looked after my dog extremely well, he and his family were incredible with my dog and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to others :) She actually didn’t want to leave!! Thank you Rob and Family!”

“We take Ozzie to Justyna on a regular basis while I’m at work! She is just amazing! She sends me regular updates and photos to reassure me that Ozzie is having the best time! She’s flexible and listens to any specific requirements Ozzie may need! I couldn’t recommend her more! :)”

Daniella was very friendly and settled our dogs in quickly with herself and her dog Marley. She sent us frequent updates and remembered lots of details we gave her verbally as we were leaving. The girls were very calm and content. I would thoroughly recommend Daniella.

Rufus had a wonderful day with Jess and her family. He went straight in to the home with his tail wagging, and loved sniffing around the garden. Jess was very attentive to Rufus’s needs and he left very happy indeed. Would definitely recommend Jess for doggy day care.

A few days after arranging a "meet and greet" with Rachel we left our labradoodle Isla in her care for a day. It was the first time we had left her with anyone for more than a year and we were nervous for her. We needn't have worried. Rachel is very obviously a dog lover and her own dog Buster is relaxed and friendly. They both made Isla welcome and we are so glad we found them.

Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:
- Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
- Your dog's lead and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
- Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
- Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
- Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalised care possible
Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
