“It was lovely to have Melonie look after Roobarb for the day in her friendly and spacious home. Roobarb loves being with other dogs, so I knew she would be happy with Melonie's own dogs to play with and I felt totally confident that she would be well looked after and have fun - which she did! Cannot recommend Melonie highly enough.”

About: I have always LOVED dogs and have grown up surrounded by them, caring for a variety of breeds, including Retrievers, Westies, Labradors, and Bearded Collies. I’ve successfully raised and trained many dogs with ease. I live with my husband, Terry, who equally loves dogs, along with our two very friendly, unneutered Retrievers and a cat. Any boarding dogs would need to be comfortable around other pets. Our home offers a secure, fenced garden and is located near beautiful countryside, perfect for long walks. Among my friends and family, I’m often known as the “doggy day care hotel” because I frequently look after their dogs. This has given me hands-on experience with a variety of breeds, temperaments, and needs. Feel free to browse through my photos to see the many wonderful dogs I’ve cared for and the stunning walks we enjoy nearby! Running my own business from home allows me to dedicate plenty of time to pet care. I can take the dogs on regular long walks, playtime in the garden, and keep them entertained with enrichment games and chews throughout the day. I am available for home boarding at any time and can pet sit on most days except Wednesdays. We’re lucky to live close to beautiful countryside fields, woods, and rivers—perfect for exploring, muddy walks, or playing frisbee in the fields. We live in a charming cottage in Okeford Fitzpaine, featuring three spacious reception rooms. Our open-plan dining area and two lounges provide plenty of room for dogs. The fully enclosed, fenced garden offers a secure space for outdoor play, and we also have a crate available for owners who prefer their dogs to use one. While we don’t allow dogs upstairs, they are free to enjoy the cosy downstairs areas (filled with sofas and dog beds) and at night, they sleep in the kitchen or lounge.
“Eddie had a lovely time when she stayed with Debbie. She gets nervous & snappy sometimes when she meets new dogs and Debbie and her husband were really lovely giving her plenty of time to settle down with their dog Brodie. And then Debbie sent me lots of updates and pictures of her playing and having a nice time which was very reassuring. I’d highly recommend her.”

About: I am an experienced dog owner and lover of all shapes and sizes. I have a particular understanding of sight hound needs and peculiarities! I have a canine first aid certificate I am retired and so have the time to care for your dog and provide stability and consistency without any other distractions. I will follow their normal routine. I have a fully fenced garden with direct access from the house. We have sunny and shaded spots in summer and a cosy log fire to sleep in front of in the winter. We have country walks from the doorstep.
“I was so happy with Francesca care off my Little Bella Sausage miniature dachshund. Francesca was so caring and gentle with her as first time Bella has been away from me. Had updates through the day. So my mind was at ease. I would thoughtly recommend Francesca to everyone who loves and wants their dog looked after. I can't praise her enough. Would ask her to look After Bella again at a drop of a hat . Thank you.”

About: I have owned and looked after dogs for nearly 20 years of all sizes and activity. I am an active person and will happily put the miles in with your canine friend or equally provide them with all day company if they prefer to be curled up on the rug. I have also looked after dogs who weren't keen on other dogs- so ensured walks were arranged away from the likelihood of encountering other dogs. I work permanently from home so will always be able to provide all day companionship. I am a pretty active person but am happy to adapt to your dog's walking requirements. I have a fenced garden which dogs will have full access with no safety issues for dogs that like to perform a houdini act if given the chance! I live in a lovely location with plenty of walks including canal and woodland walks

“I felt quite at ease from the moment I took Annie into the house; Chloe made Annie very welcome and I knew Annie would have a fun day. Annie behaved and enjoyed seeing the children. No hesitation to ask her again.”

We also have an African grey parrot and a rabbit so we can only offer boarding to pups that are chill with that! “We left Bambi for a day only and she had a great time with Ryan. She felt like at home there, been for a long walk and played with other pooches. Ryan sent us updates and many pictures which was amazing. Thank you.”

About: I raised my 5 year old cocker spaniel, who loves ditch-the-bowl training. I'm a freelance outdoor instructor offering stimulating, long winter walks with new scents to enrich happy dogs. My two dogs enjoy morning and evening walks. With the garden always open, I provide 1-2 long weekday walks and adventurous weekend outings away from Sherborne. My garden is fenced, so they cannot escape. My two dogs will keep your dog company who are both very friendly and are used to other dogs staying. If they were to travel in the van I have seat belt clips, clips and a crate in the rear. I have a crate if your dog needs it's own space in the house too (Rusty sleeps under the stairs and Indi can sleep in our bedroom, so your dog can either sleep in the kitchen or living room). If you needed me to stay at your house, then I don't have to bring my dogs as my partner also works from home. We love dogs! We don't have children so they get a lot of fuss. I tend to use kibble/treats on their first walk with a retractable lead, to get a sense of recall and connection with the dog.
“Trudy is the best dog sitter I’ve ever used! She took such good care of Logan, and kept me updated with lots of pictures and videos throughout the day. She has been so kind and flexible and I have already rebooked her for two more dates! Highly recommend!”

About: Everyone around me will agree that I am absolutely obsessed with animals. Any animal that has come into my care has had a life of luxury. My partner and I have had endless comments on how well behaved our dogs are. My experience ranges from young dogs through to senior dogs, Including cats and sadly we lost my old cat last year. He was my best friend and the attachment we had was rare. I think about him every day. My senior dog is supported when she has harder days, especially when certain walks can be challenging for her. I will carry her up bigger steps and walk at her pace. Like humans we get bored with the same routine and so we vary the walks we go on. Whether it is a trip to the beach, a walk in the woods or running around an open field, rest assured they will have plenty of fun. I also work part-time in care and my dogs like to come with me, they are such good therapy. I will happily walk a client's dog as I like to help out where I can. My parents live locally and will quiet often have our dogs as company, they recently lost their dog and the loss has left a hole in their hearts. I will always take any instructions seriously and what wish for your pet is my command. I want you and your pet to feel comfortable knowing they will get the best care. ANY animal in my care will be loved and cherished like my own. I have plenty of free time. My partner takes our dogs to work and they also stay part-time with my parents. We don't have children and very little commitments. I work part-time and I luckily have flexibility from day to day. I have all the right safety measures in place. This includes plenty of room and 0.25 acres of land with plenty of local walks. My garden is secure.
“Our Raffi had a wonderful day with Kirsty! He settled in easily as he had had a meet up beforehand so that it would be an easy transition. He had so much fun with sweet, gentle little Benji too. We received lots of updates and photos during his stay, which made us smile as we could see that Raffi felt relaxed ,happy and totally at home. 5 star care and we will definitely book with Kirsty,Dan and Benji again. Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:
- Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
- Your dog's lead and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
- Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
- Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
- Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalised care possible
Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
