I highly recommend Edita, she looked after our puppy for us this weekend and has done a fantastic job. She has been kind, loving and taken her out for some lovely walks. It means a lot to trust someone with your dog, but Edita made us feel comfortable about leaving our puppy with her and it was clear to us that she’s a dog person and spent lots of time doing nice things with her. Thank you so much ❤️

Holly is truly wonderful! She arrived promptly, delivered great communication before and during her stay, and most importantly took great care of Basil. We will definitely book Holly again and would highly recommend.

About: Hello! I am a dog and cat lover, and have lots of experience with both kinds of pets. I have spent a lot of time with my aunts dogs - Labradors and mixes - some of whom have struggled with anxiety. My aunts dogs have primarily been Guide Dog rejects, they have gone through the training but ultimately didn’t pass their tests. I also have experience dog/house sitting for up to a week. My family has a cat and I have volunteered at cat shelters previously so I’m well equipped to care for cats too. In my free time I love to run, read, and do yoga, and I have lots of energy so I’m ready to tire out your pup. I am available days/evenings Mon-Fri.

Aliya and Amir were the completely perfect sitters, they were communicative both before and during the sit. My dog is 'special' in so many ways and they understood and dealt easily with all his quirks. The house was left in a great condition. I wouldn't have even a moments hesitation in inviting them back. Thank you Aliya and Amir.

Callum was absolutely FANTASTIC!! Kept our minds as at peace, our animals were really relaxed and looked after well while we were away. Callum did a great job looking after not just the furries, also the house itself, we came home to clean rooms, everything tidy and taken care of! I can't say how much we appreciate everything you've done, Callum! Huge thank you!

First time we have used someone to house/dog sit for our Lab Nova. Nicky was very efficient setting up the house sit and able to come and meet Nova at home and go through all her requirements beforehand. Nicky demonstrates a calm and mature approach to house sitting, so we knew Nova would be in safe hands and well looked after. We would happily use Nicky again and can recommend her too.

Thanks to Kim and Matt for helping us out . You could tell from the first 20 seconds of the meet and greet that I didn't have to worry about Max while we were away . It was a stressful time visiting a sick family member and they really couldn't have been more helpful .

I cant say enough good things about Aliya and Amir. A lovely professional couple who took good care of our house but above all provided our large anxious dog with lots of love and care. Communication was excellent throughout and they provided us with regular updates while we were away. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to others and will certainly use them in future.

Monika was an excellent dog and house sitter. Very clear and quick communication right from the start. She had a lovely rapport with our 2 year old Cockapoo from the first moment she met him. Monika looked after our house really well including washing all the bed sheets - hers and ours, without being asked, and re-dressing the beds for our return. Highly recommend. Thank you Monika

About: I have always had dogs, amongst various other animals, growing up and have been given responsibility with them from a young age. Over the last four/five years I have done various dog and house sitting, for a range of times and with up to two dogs. I am currently doing a Uni course with the Open University therefore all online. Which means I have plenty of time to play with and prioritise your pets. I will only be dog sitting in others houses and I don’t have the room in my own home but anything that is needed for you dog will be done.

Amber looked after our 2.5 year old Cockapoo for us in our home whilst we went away for a week. Amber was polite, and knowledgeable, she was respectful towards our home and left it immaculate upon our return. Amber sent regular updates on her adventures with Hadley, and we know he had a great week with her. We would highly recommend Amber, and thank her for looking after both our dog, and our home.

Quite anxious to leave Zeph but I must say Lucy & Dom were brilliant. We had a meet and greet at the house and a further meet for a walk so that Zeph could engage and get to know them. Whist away we had regular updates and photos in which he seemed very content. I would recommend Lucy & Dom 100%

About: I have grown up with pets since early childhood and love mostly the company of dogs! I am familiar with all kinds of breeds (inc GSD, dachshund and Spinones) but particularly rescue dogs. Conscientous and attentive to needs of doggos, we currently have a Brittany spaniel rescue from Cyprus who is a charming boy, so we are very used to nervous and skittish dogs too. We have a 3 bedroom home with a large secure garden - perfect for playing or lounging around in the sunshine. We also have lots of great (and quiet) walks from our doorstep and live in a safe neighbourhood. My partner and I work full time but are able to be quite flexible with looking after your four legged family member. My employer is dog friendly and I work in a shared office so your pooch may come to work with me (depending on their needs), or if they prefer a quieter environment, they can stay at the house and be visited frequently by my partner or I. If your dog has separation issues we must know about this ahead of booking, as we both work full time and so cannot guarantee 24/7 care (though sometimes I can be more flexible with work if I know in advance). I work full-time. Depending on the dogs needs, they may come to work with me in an office or will be located less than 10min walk away from work location where I can do regular checks. My partner and I manage this account together, but as we both work full time, we cannot commit to 24/7 care, so your dog will need to be comfortable with being left for 3 hours. I am active myself, so if they are able, I will run with Fred my dog - yours is welcome to join, or we will walk instead (45-60min). Lunchtime will be a short walk around 20min. Evening walk is 30-60mins. Plenty of off lead opportunity. Weekends are spent at the beach, the woods or at the river. Your dog will join us for all, including plenty of coffee shop trips and shopping! Fenced garden, dogs are allowed on furniture at home. I have a neutered male dog who will keep yours company! Crating can be accommodated. We also usually have a WiFi camera we can give owners access to. If your dog is not a fan of other dogs, let me know as we can come to some elegant arrangement with Fred our dog for short stays. We can accommodate all types of diet. Fred has been on raw food before and so we are comfortable with that.

About: Ive always been in an animal environment, growing up on a small holding and having dogs as part of the family unit. I've walked lots of dogs as part of my previous role as a carer which involved walking the customers companion. The daily dog walks were a lovely part of the role and gave the customer the reassurance their beloved pet was getting all the daily physical requirements as well as all the love they need. Lots of flexibility . I can usually provide services at short notice l. At home there are two young people 16, 9 but no pets at the current time I have a small front garden suitable for quick wee breaks and I'm close to amazing north Dorset countryside with some fantastic walks. The walks are varied depending on the dogs requirements for exercise.

About: I’ve had dogs around me my whole life, so looking after them just comes naturally. I also have a Diploma in Animal Care, so I understand their behaviour and what they need to feel safe and happy. I currently have a friendly, well-socialised 1 year old Staffy who absolutely loves other dogs, making my home a positive and playful environment. Whether it’s confidence-building for puppies, extra patience for seniors, or simply providing a loving home-from-home, I offer personalised care that’s calm, safe, and full of affection. Due to work, I am available only Monday and Tuesdays. I can provide boarding on a Sunday evening but not Tuesdays as I am back to work on Wednesdays. However, I have shift work so please ask me dates and I may be able to arrange something on the other days! I am available for any pet care you require and have lots of time and love to give to your pups! Your dog’s safety and comfort comes first. My home has a fully fenced, brick-walled garden, giving dogs a secure space to play and explore. Inside, everything is set up to help them feel relaxed and at home. We also have a friendly 9-month-old female Staffy who loves all dogs and is always ready for playtime or cuddles. Dogs are welcome on the sofa or bed if that’s what they’re used to, but I also have quiet rooms and cosy spots for pups who prefer their own space. Whatever your dog’s routine, I aim to make them feel safe, happy, and completely at ease.

FAQs for House Sitting - North Dorset

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in North Dorset on Rover is £37.95 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 958 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across North Dorset. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred North Dorset walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in North Dorset choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
