Jade looked after my little dog at my house for 5 days while I was on holiday. Marnie is nearly 14 & is not used to being away from me. I need not have worried. Jade was amazing! She sent me daily updates with wonderful photos of Marnie who I could tell was vey relaxed & happy which meant I could relax & enjoy my holiday. Jade left my house immaculate & even watered my plants for which I was very grateful. I feel very lucky to have had Jade for my sitter. I would highly recommend her & wouldn’t hesitate to choose her again to look after Marnie.

Karen was amazing with Benji, our golden retriever and Mabel, our cat. We could tell that we would be leaving them with someone who loves animal just from our first meeting with her. It was such a relief to know that our pets would be cared for in their own home, minimising stress for them whilst we were away. Benji clearly adored the many walks and affection Karen gave him, and we loved the frequent video updates she very kindly sent. We could tell that he was having a ball without us! Mabel was in her element, able to roam in her territory and busy herself hunting, or cat nap in the cool of the house as she chose. Karen looked after both pets so well, even making sure Benji accessed medical care quickly when he needed it for his eye infection. Thank you, Karen! We hope to ask Karen to look after Benji and Mabel again, subject to her availability.

Sophie was brilliant with our spaniel Basil who has lots of ‘personality traits’. Sophie was confident and at ease with looking after him for the 10 days we were away. She looked after our house and left it clean and tidy. She kept us updated with messages and photos and obviously felt the love for Basil. We will definitely use Sophie again and would recommend her.

Christine was great, she looked after my two cane corso’s, one is a puppy and can be hard work. She kept me updated throughout and I could tell they loved their time with Christine by how sad they were after she had gone! The house was left spotless a lot more than when I left it (you didn’t have to). Would definitely recommend Christine your pets will be in good hands. Thank you!

Hannah is brilliant! This was the first time we left our pup with someone she doesn't really know, so we were a bit anxious but didn't need to be at all. Hannah is absolutely fab, sending updates and pics whilst we were away. Our pup Willow loved her straight away. Eating all her food (which is the first thing to stop when she is unsettled) and settling down on the sofa next to Hannah straight away. Hannah is a very caring person and the dogs can definitely tell. She used her initiative to make sure Willow was as comfortable as could be and played lots of toys with her. Will definitely be booking Hannah again.

Lisa-Ann took wonderful care of our Red Labrador, Rex, taking the time to get to know him and us beforehand. Our doggie enjoyed wonderful walks and fun whilst we were away for the week and was very relaxed in her company. Her experience and love of dogs is excellent, alongside her communication to us throughout. Highly recommend Lisa-Ann, who gave over and above. We hope another opportunity arises in the future for Rex to hang out with Lisa-Ann and her family again, thank you!

Mabel came and stayed in our house for a week, looking after our Collie, Sola. Her care was outstanding from beginning to end. She’s a natural dog lover and Sola was immediately at ease in her company. Mabel walked Sola twice a day, handled her medication, sent us regular updates and pictures, left the house clean and tidy and even carried out some essential garden maintenance - AMAZING! We would strongly recommend her services.

Hannah & Aiden are both lovely. We are 100% going to get them to sit for us again. They had our two rescue dogs and our puppy for a week, and all of the dogs felt at ease with them right from the get go. Two of our dogs suffer from anxiety and it's often a struggle for new people to get them into their harnesses and out walking initially, but Aiden and Hannah had no issues. They even managed to do medication. All the dogs had lovely walks and we got lots of nice photos back. Some people are just naturals with animals and animals feel safe with them, so we are really greatful to have found them.

About: I’ve grown up around pets and have always loved caring for animals. I’ve had a Bichon Frise and three black cats, so I’m comfortable with different personalities and love giving pets the attention, care and affection they deserve. I’d be excited to look after your pets and make sure they feel happy, safe and loved while you’re away! I’m currently between jobs, so I’m at home in Burton 7 days a week and have plenty of time and flexibility to care for your pets. I love going for long walks along the country lanes and fields near my home, and I’d be more than happy to have a furry companion join me! I also have lots of time for play, cuddles and giving your pets the attention they deserve. I live in a comfortable, spacious home with my mother, who is also a huge animal lover! We don’t have any other pets, so your pet will have plenty of space and attention to themselves. We also have a secure, fenced-in garden with grass, and we’re lucky to live close to lots of lovely walking spots!

My schedule is flexible, so I can offer plenty of time for walks, drop-ins, or overnight stays, especially on weekends and afternoons. I live close to several lovely green spaces, perfect for safe and fun walks. I keep my environment calm and clean, ensuring pets feel comfortable and cared for. I love it when Kate comes to look after me. Mummy and Daddy say that I’m the most special border terrier in the whole world, and they are really picky about who cares for me. They call me their baby! Kate takes me on walks across the fields to the beach and the forest. I am a very social creature so I love it when she takes me around the village and lets me sniff everything and find out what’s going on in the doggie world. Kate makes up really fun games for us to play, especially when it is really hot and I can’t be out for too long. Keeps me from getting bored, as I am a very clever boy! She takes photos of all the fun things we do and sends them to Mummy and Daddy. I love her so much that I smile for the camera. Yes, really! Just take a look at her photos. You know what? Kate cleans up the house before she leaves, even places where I haven’t shed my fur, and that’s a lot of places because I am allowed on the furniture. I told you Mummy and Daddy spoil me. The only thing they don’t do is give me enough treats. I keep telling Kate that it’s okay to give me more and Mummy and Daddy won’t know, but she must be scared of them because she doesn’t. Kate has looked after me twice and I am so excited because she is coming back two more times. I wag myself in half when I see her and can’t wait for all the cuddles and the fun we are going to have.

About: I’ve grown up around dogs my whole life and feel I am able to forge special bonds with them. Over the last few years I’ve looked after dogs of friends as well as family providing house/dog sitting and occasional day care as required. I am currently studying online from home, so I have flexible availability, and am happy to talk with you to discuss any needs you may have. I would meet with you and your dog in order to get to know your dog and to discuss any requirements you may have and to learn about your dog’s daily routine

I can’t rate Ellie highly enough! She is extremely responsible, respectful of our home and animals, shows genuine care towards them and looked after them like they were her own. Kept to their routines and they were all so comfortable with her too. We were so reassured and comfortable know Ellie was here looking after the place while we were away. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she left the home tidier than when we left it 🫣 Thank you so much Ellie! We’ll definitely be booking a again when we go away next

Hannah stayed in my home for a week to look after my dog, Bentley, while I was away on holiday, and I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. From the moment I left, I felt completely at ease knowing Bentley and my home were in such safe and trustworthy hands. Hannah treated both with genuine care and respect. She kept me updated with lovely photos and messages throughout the week, striking the perfect balance—keeping me reassured without bombarding me while I was trying to enjoy my holiday. Her communication was excellent, and she was always happy to get in touch if she had any questions. Bentley is a bit of a quirky little dog with his own routines and personality, and Hannah really took the time to understand his individual needs. He had plenty of walks, lots of love and attention, and it was obvious he’d been very well cared for. I came home to a happy, relaxed dog and a tidy home, which was lovely to return to. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Hannah to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, trustworthy, and thoughtful dog sitter. Thank you so much, Hannah!

FAQs for House Sitting - East Dorset

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in East Dorset on Rover is £33.35 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 922 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across East Dorset. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred East Dorset walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East Dorset choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
