“I cannot recommend Ben enough. I have a pair *M/F Bull terriers. They are wonderfully comedic and a lot of work. I have not found anyone in my 5+ years of ownership to take care of them while I travel. Until I booked Ben. Plenty of familiarity beforehand. Lots of local walks in semi rural area. I will absolutely be asking Ben to take care of my dogs everytime I travel in the future. Highly recommended! Xx”

About: My beloved dog, Crumble, joined tennis ball heaven last year and ever since then, there has been a huge paw shaped hole in our hearts. Life means it’s tricky to have our own fur baby again for a few years and instead, we’ve enjoyed the company of others. We have had dogs for over 20 years and are very comfortable with excitable young puppies as much as caring for senior dogs with medication needs etc. I am a secondary school teacher, teaching locally in a comprehensive for over 20 years being Head of Subject and Head of Year. Tristan also works as a specialist technician at school. We would love to use our weekends and school holidays between now and Christmas this year for furry companionship. In addition to teaching in school, I also privately tutor and work from home two to three days a week and therefore also have the ability to do some term time day based care and support until Christmas 2026. Thereafter, I am solely working from home on a part time basis, and won’t be in school and so will have full availability to be able to have dog company all day, every day. We promise to offer love, care and undivided attention for your pooch! We currently work part time and full time in a local school. This means that in school holiday time we have no work and can just give full attention to your dog’s needs. The same applies for weekends throughout the school year and any week day care we have capacity for up until Christmas this year. Then from January l will solely working from home on a part time basis as I will just have my private tutoring business and therefore have full capacity for every option for dog care all day, every day . If we have a dog with us it will never be left unsupervised and will always have at least one of our full attention We have the luxury of going between two accommodations in the area. Our home has a fenced garden with lovely walks around the Mudeford quay and Mudeford woods patch. We also have a sizeable static caravan at Hoburne which dogs love coming to stay with us at. Here, we have the joys of being right on our private cliff top and the beach and sea in front, alongside the easy option of getting in to the forest for walks. It’s doggy heaven! We don’t have any pets of our own presently and instead are enjoying the company and companionship of others
“Sylva and Martin came to our house for two nights to look after Sully. They took him on lots of walks in various places. Kept in touch with lots of lovely photos. We were very happy with their care and it was Sullys first time being looked after. We would definitely use again. Highly recommended.”

“I would highly recommend Cam, he was so good with the dogs, sent loads of pictures, he left the house immaculate Really cannot fault him, it was nice going away and relaxing knowing they were in such good hands. Thanks again Cam”

“Karen is wonderful-with my dog and staying at my home. She provided timely updates and it was lovely to know Mocha was getting such high quality care and attention. I know we will be asking her back for future trips!”

About: I have volunteered at animal shelters from a young age and have administered medication before and worked with very nervous and distressed animals and have built a trusting bond 🥰 I work remotely so i have all the time to be with your pets. I just work from my laptop and I am my own boss so nothing demanding. I can attend to all your pets needs 🥰 I can sit all day and evening with your pets and give them plenty of cuddles and let them out when they need to go out and feed them at their scheduled time, no problem 😊
“Kate looked after Ozzy with so much love, care, and attention. It was clear from the start that she genuinely cares about animals, and we felt completely at ease knowing he was in such capable hands. Ozzy was happy, relaxed, and very well looked after when we returned. Kate also went above and beyond by watering our flowers during the heatwave, which was such a thoughtful and appreciated gesture. She is responsible, reliable, and kind, and we couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter. We highly recommend Kate to anyone looking for someone trustworthy to care for their pets.”

“Sammy was so lovely to Baker! She took him on fun adventures around the area and sent lots of pics. Baker is a nervous boy and she took her time to make him feel comfortable and happy.”

“We were really happy with the service Tilly provided when she house/pet sat for us overnight. Our ‘fur family’ are totally at ease with her. We would definitely recommend her services.”
“Honey looked after Dickie with such love and attention. It was a long day for both of them but Dickie has clearly had a very happy day. Honey sent lots of updates and although I was a long way from home, I felt confident that Dickie was in safe hands. I feel very fortunate to have found Honey and will definitely ask her to look after Dickie again.”
About: I have a genuine love for dogs and hands-on experience caring for them. I previously had two dogs of my own, and I looked after them with full responsibility and care throughout their lives. This experience taught me patience, attentiveness, and how to understand dogs’ needs and behaviors. I am comfortable with feeding, walking, playing, and providing companionship. I also pay close attention to routines and any special care instructions. I treat every dog as if they were my own, ensuring they feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for.
“Lisa-Ann took wonderful care of our Red Labrador, Rex, taking the time to get to know him and us beforehand. Our doggie enjoyed wonderful walks and fun whilst we were away for the week and was very relaxed in her company. Her experience and love of dogs is excellent, alongside her communication to us throughout. Highly recommend Lisa-Ann, who gave over and above. We hope another opportunity arises in the future for Rex to hang out with Lisa-Ann and her family again, thank you!”

About: I have genuine love for animals which I am able to put into my veterinary science degree, nurturing my professional experience with animals. I’ve looked after dogs for friends and family for years, as well as doing paid dog and cat sitting, so I’m comfortable caring for pets with all sorts of personalities and needs. As part of my course, I was trained and assessed in animal handling, giving me experience working safely and confidently with a wide range of animals. I’ve also worked on farms, spent time in veterinary clinics, volunteered at a dog and cat rescue, and walked dogs of all sizes and breeds. I have my own Border Collie, so I’m very used to energetic dogs that need lots of exercise, attention, and mental stimulation (aka a handful!) He also has epilepsy and takes regular medication, so I’m experienced in administering oral medication and caring for pets that need a little extra support. Whether your pet is a young puppy, a senior pet, a high-energy breed, or simply loves lots of company and attention, I’ll make sure they feel safe, happy, and well cared for while you’re away. I treat every pet as if they were my own! 🐾 I am currently on summer break from university. I have some odd shifts at a bar that i work at but very rare. I have one week that I cannot work- July3rd-10th. Apart from that I am available every day apart from Thursdays until September :) When caring for pets in their own home, I do my best to stick to their normal routine so they feel comfortable and secure while you’re away. I’ll follow any instructions you provide regarding feeding, walks, playtime, medication, and any other specific needs your pet may have. I make sure pets get plenty of attention, affection, and enrichment, whether that’s long walks for energetic dogs, play sessions, or simply keeping them company. I’m experienced with dogs of all sizes and temperaments, as well as cats and pets that require extra care, including administering oral medication when needed. I also understand how important it is for owners to have peace of mind, so I’m happy to provide regular updates and photos throughout my stay. My goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, happy, and loved in their familiar environment while you’re away.
“I can’t rate Ellie highly enough! She is extremely responsible, respectful of our home and animals, shows genuine care towards them and looked after them like they were her own. Kept to their routines and they were all so comfortable with her too. We were so reassured and comfortable know Ellie was here looking after the place while we were away. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she left the home tidier than when we left it 🫣 Thank you so much Ellie! We’ll definitely be booking a again when we go away next”

About: I have had pets for as long as I can remember. While we are mostly been a cat family, we have had an array of pets, from fish to guinea pigs. I always seem to attract the cats however, nicknamed the cat queen in our house. Over the years, I have looked after many family friends dogs; Jack Russell’s, Springer Spaniels, Pomeranians, Labradors, Border Collies. I’ve always loved hiking and walking, and now get to do this as my job, but would love a furry friend to accompany me, so I can play pretend until I own one of my own! I’ve also recently done my first house sit on TrustedHousesitters for two lovely mother and daughter lab pair. It was one of my highlights so far of the year and would love to continue to help other families. I am a very tidy and clean person, and have no problem watering your plants or cleaning out a litter tray! I also have no problem with any energy level of dog, I’d walk for hours and play fetch for days… or just a quick wrap around the roads for cute oldies. I am currently an Outdoor Instructor working with the school holidays. I finish each day at 16:00, so able to drop in or walk to see your furry friends after work. I also have school holidays and weekends off, meaning I’m able to be flexible and spend lots of time playing and walking. I can also house sit during these holidays for whenever you and your loved ones are jetting off. ✈️ I love updating owners and sending lots of pictures of your friends! It is the service that I would like as I know how precious these pets are to us. I can easily follow any particular requirements or where your pet likes to sleep at night, to make sure they’re not unsettled by a new friend.

About: Hello! I would love to take care of your cat family members to fill the cat size hole I currently have in my life (Rental problems)! I’m honest, reliable and understand how hard it can be to leave your pets so I will always send photos to you of how they are getting on! I'm also happy to do anything extra - whether that's watering plants or taking in mail! I have been lucky to look after quite a number of cats from Cat in a Flat now and have lots of happy cats and owners. If you have any questions please drop me a message!

Outstanding sitter. I think my dogs are quite disappointed that they’re at home with me and not Sylva. Dogs were extremely well looked after and happy (I have a very obnoxious Labrador who would let you know if she was unhappy), the house was spotless on our return. I cannot rate Sylva highly enough and will definitely book her again.

I cannot recommend Ben enough. Xx

Wendy was great. She came and met Jackson and I before the sit. She distracted Jackson beautifully as I left as he was a bit unsure as it was the first time she’d had him and was in her own home. Wendy kept me updated with his exploits with photos and videos which was lovely to see and I could see he was having a great time with her. She also very kindly dropped him back to me. Overall, he had a great time, I was reassured and I’d happily use Wendy again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Christchurch walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Christchurch choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
