“Abi was brilliant, despite a rather eventful evening looking after Patch at our house! Great communication, very sweet with Patch and not at all fazed by us providing the wrong address and a power cut! I would not hesitate to book Abi again ☺️”

“This was the second time Hayley sat for us and just as brilliant as the first time. Gets on so well with the dogs, kept us updated over the weekend and shows real excitement and passion in looking after them. A huge comfort whilst being away - thank you!”

“Eliza was amazing house sitting George and Poppy! They can be a handful with all their barking and jumping, but she was absolutely wonderful with them. She kept us updated and we came home to very happy, tired dogs. It was so nice not having to worry. Highly recommend her!"”

“Elena was such a blessing! We were let down by a sitter, and Elena arrived last minute, happy to take on the challenge. She was understanding, kept constant communication with us and took our dog out on so many adventures - He probably misses her more than he missed us on holiday! She even went the extra mile to ensure the house was left in a lovely condition when we returned. Elena listened to everything we asked and even fed our little fish on our behalf. She was easy going, friendly, transparent and knowledgeable when caring for our large german shephard X Doberman rescue. We will definitely be working with Elena again in the future! Thank you!!”

“Kate was absolutely brilliant with Billie. We were away for 4 nights and she followed instructions to a teacher. Billie can be quite an anxious cat but warmed to Kate well. Kate kept us well informed with lots of pictures, videos and messages to out us at ease. I absolutely would book her again and I'm sure Billie misses her too.”

“Kamila is definitely our Labrador Poppy and cat Indy's new best buddy! She looked after them for 2 nights over new year and they had a great time, both Poppy and Indy were very well cared for. Kamila took on board all our instructions and left our home clean and tidy. We'd absolutely recommend Kamila if you need a sitter.”

About: I love pets more than anything and I would really love to have my own but unfortunately my working schedule wouldn’t allow me to, that’s why I am happy to help out other people here instead :) I am currently working full-time Mon-Fri 7.30am to 3pm and I have some weekends off. I am happy to do house sitting for a few days during the week as long as your pet can stay unsupervised while I’m at work. I live in a flat building but I have a lovely front garden where we can play. I also live very close to common park where I usually go for walks in my free time.
“This was the first time Laura looked after my two girls and she came to meet them ahead of the actual day. Laura was very calm and confident with them both, Nellie is a very strong girl and Laura managed her on the lead really well. During the sitting Laura sent me some lovely pictures and a video of the girls playing. They were really calm and relaxed when I got home, they really took to Laura and had clearly had a fun day. I feel very confident leaving my girls in her care. Thank you.”

“Charlotte did a tremendous job of looking after our 8 year old staffie Gunner for a weekend. She was attentive and clear in her communication with us. Due to the heat, she was happy to take him to a private dog field at 8am one morning to ensure he got his exercise (away from other dogs). I'd recommend her to anyone.”

About: Dogs have always been a big part of my life, and I’ve grown up around them from a young age. I currently have my own miniature poodle, so I understand the importance of providing loving, reliable, and attentive care that makes every dog feel safe and happy. I have experience caring for dogs of all ages, from energetic puppies to senior dogs who need a gentler pace and extra patience. I’m comfortable administering medication, following specific feeding and exercise routines, and adapting my care to meet each dog’s individual needs. I also have experience caring for reactive and anxious dogs, taking the time to build trust and create a calm, positive environment where they can feel secure. Whether your dog enjoys long walks, playtime, cuddles, or simply relaxing with company, I’ll make sure they receive the care, attention, and affection they deserve. I understand how important it is to leave your pet with someone you trust, so I’ll keep you updated with regular messages and photos, giving you peace of mind while you’re away. For added reassurance, I am trained in pet first aid, so I’m prepared to respond calmly and appropriately in the unlikely event of an emergency. I’ll treat your dog as if they were my own, ensuring they are safe, comfortable, and loved throughout their stay. I currently work Tuesday to Friday from 9:00am to 3:00pm and Saturdays from 9:00am to 1:00pm. My work is flexible, and I can adjust my hours when needed to make sure your dog isn’t left alone for long periods. For friendly, non-reactive, and well-behaved dogs, I’m also able to bring them with me to work, where they’ll receive plenty of attention and companionship throughout the day. This means your dog can enjoy company rather than being left at home. Outside of my working hours, your dog will be with me for walks, playtime, enrichment, cuddles, and plenty of one-to-one care. I always do my best to maintain your dog’s usual routine, so they feel comfortable, happy, and settled while you’re away. When caring for your pet in your home, my priority is making sure they feel safe, relaxed, and comfortable in their familiar surroundings. I understand that every pet has their own routine, and I’ll follow your instructions closely to keep their day as normal as possible, from feeding and walks to medication and bedtime routines. I’m experienced with puppies, senior dogs, and reactive or anxious dogs, so I’m happy to adapt my approach to suit your pet’s individual needs. I take the time to build trust at their pace, using calm, positive interactions to help them feel secure while you’re away. I treat every home with the same respect and care as I would my own. I’ll keep your home clean and tidy, ensure doors and gates are securely closed, and always put your pet’s safety first. I’ll also send regular updates and photos, so you can enjoy your time away knowing your pet is happy, well cared for, and in safe hands. As a pet first aid trained sitter, I’m prepared to respond calmly in the unlikely event of an emergency, giving you extra peace of mind while your pet is in my care.
“We were very lucky that Helen was available at short notice to stay with our mini dachsie for our overnight away. She communicated throughout and gave regular updates. Could not be happier with her service. Thank you so much, Helen!”

“Sara got on so well with Whisky, our older German Shepherd. He had a great time! He needs a lot of medication which she had no issues with providing, and managed him when he got an upset tum (his own fault). Came home to a very happy and tired pup. Communication was on point throughout, with lots of photos and videos.”

About: I've grown up around pets of all sizes from palm sized to (almost) human sized my whole life and I am excited to offer my experience with, and love for pets for those in need of it. I currently have a beautiful kitty named Cairo (Calico pictured in profile) but have owned dogs, rats and rabbits in the past and I have a CPD Certified Diploma in Pet Sitting giving me the tools to handle most pets and their needs. I aim to offer a professional yet friendly service with a real focus on pet well-being and good behavioural reinforcement and of course fun for the animals. If you would like to enquire about my services I would love to hear from yourself! I am aiming to be a full time pet carer so I will be fully flexible and happy to work around your needs! I do have other work arrangements and personal responsibilities which will keep me from being able to offer full time in house sitting but these can be moved around as I need. Unfortunately I cannot offer pet care at my own home due to not wanting to upset my own cats living condition but when attending to your pets I will be happy to accommodate any of their needs and yours. I am also happy to carry any daily tasks that might be required in the house within reason, to ensure your home is secure while you are away and that I am offering a top tier service that makes your life easier.
“I can’t rate Olivia high enough. Having used a few sitters before Who were questionable at best I had almost given up going away again until we found Olivia . She looks after Pete so well and the property is always left clean and tidy. She has so much of patience to put up with his neediness and constant requirement for attention. She always keeps us up to date with photos and messages which really helps relieve the anxiety of leaving him for a break.”

Loz was calm, patient, and very understanding with both Jerry and Cuddles. They were a little nervous initially, but she handled them really well and they settled in quickly. It was lovely to receive updates, and both of them looked comfortable throughout their stay. It gave us peace of mind knowing they were in such caring hands. We’d be very happy to leave them with Loz again and would highly recommend her.

Eliza was amazing house sitting George and Poppy! They can be a handful with all their barking and jumping, but she was absolutely wonderful with them. She kept us updated and we came home to very happy, tired dogs. It was so nice not having to worry. Highly recommend her!"

Kamila is a 5-star sitter. She takes good care of Biscuit, and I’m sure Biscuit loves her - I always get cute pictures of their cuddles. Kamila communicates well and when there was a health concern, Kamila sent updates and photos to reassure me about how Biscuit was doing. Highly recommend.

Sara got on so well with Whisky, our older German Shepherd. He had a great time! He needs a lot of medication which she had no issues with providing, and managed him when he got an upset tum (his own fault). Came home to a very happy and tired pup. Communication was on point throughout, with lots of photos and videos.

Absolutely brilliant. We needed a sitter for both mine and my daughter's dogs as we were going to a family wedding. We had never used the app before so were a little dubious. However, after a quick, easy search I found a couple of people in the area who had very good reviews and weren't too expensive. I contacted the top three and Charlotte was the first to respond. From there it was a very smooth and pleasant experience. Charlotte responded very quickly to messages and was very helpful to a 'newbie'. We arranged a meeting before the event to discuss our needs and for Charlotte to meet the dogs. She arrived promptly and the dogs took to her immediately. Come the weekend of our event we were quite happy to leave them with her. Charlotte updated us in the evening to let us know all was well which was a nice touch. Very happy with the service and in particular Charlotte; we will definitely use them both again. Charlotte is a very calm, personable young lady who took everything in her stride. Highly recommended.

Hollie was great, we had updates and good communication, our dog was spoiled and look after brilliantly, Hollie even cleaned and tidied the house, and washed bedding and towels for our arrival home. Sky our German Shepherd was on medication which Hollie did with ease, we highly recommend her.
Abigail was absolutely brilliant. Very efficient when responding with great communication. We had a house sit and she came around to meet our dogs and us and make sure she knew their needs. Throughout the sit we had updates which was greatly appreciated. You can tell our dogs were happy and Abigail was very attentive to their needs. No hesitation in recommending Abigail’s services. Thanks again!

Communication with Lynne was easy and quick to organise the situation & she was punctual. Binkie and my house were well looked after, Binkie was very happy and when we got back & had obviously had a lovely time, I thoroughly recommend Lynne, who is lovely and very committed to looking after her little charge, thank you Lynne!

Hannah had travelled to the house a couple months before the booking to meet both Izzy and us, and become familiar with the house. On the first day of the booking she arrived on time and took Izzy on a walk almost immediately. We were kept updated with messages throughout the week and Izzy's requirements were definitely met, adjusting the times of her walks to miss the hottest times of the day. We returned home to find the house spotless and some eggs replaced (although she did not need to!). We would definitely book Hannah again.

Ellie did a fantastic job of looking after our little boy Rocco, he is a nervous dog so needs a little extra care and attention. Ellie gave great updates and made us feel at ease so we could enjoy our holiday. Ellie also took great care of our home, we are so very grateful ❤️

Zilin was fantastic with our Diggle, who can be shy and was in need of company when we were away. Zilin met us beforehand to discuss needs and was so lovely and calm that Diggle took to her quite well. It made all the difference to us to know she was here looking after him and we loved the regular photos and updates we were sent. Despite having a whole lost of requests or rules for Diggle, everything went perfectly and we would book Zilin again in a heartbeat to ensure a very happy, cared for cat!

Amber was an amazing sitter for our two spaniels. They went on some lovely walks and we were updated throughout the sit. She sat at our house and you could see she showed it the most respect. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Amber enough and will most certainly use her services again in the future.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.

- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Southampton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
