“Thank you for taking care of Yogi so well. We think he’s almost pleased that we go away so he can hang out with you!! Thanks for letting him take the lead in your daily explorations Xx”

“Abigail looked after our German Shepherd X Rottweiler dog, Teddy, between 9 and 15 April, and the service we received was exceptional. Communication with Abi was great right from the stage of our enquiry, throughout the six days of the dog-sitting booking, up to and including the last day. Abi made sure she found out everything relevant about Teddy prior to the start of the booking, and listened carefully to our requests, she even visited us twice prior to the dog-sitting, to make sure everyone was happy . We received photos and updates from Abi throughout our time away, but it was obvious from the first visit (the introductory meeting) that Abi was right at ease with our boisterous boy. One really nice bonus was that our home was left by Abi in a really clean and tidy state, which we were very grateful for. Will definitely book Abi in the future again, and can highly recommend her!”

“Kamila is honestly my go to when it comes to looking after Barley. Barley always has the BEST time with her and he is obsessed. She always puts the dogs needs first, plays with them, takes them out on exciting walks, teaches them new things and gives them so much love and belly rubs. Also not to mention, you always take the best photos 😊 Thank you for looking after Barley - couldn’t recommend enough!”

“Charlotte did a tremendous job of looking after our 8 year old staffie Gunner for a weekend. She was attentive and clear in her communication with us. Due to the heat, she was happy to take him to a private dog field at 8am one morning to ensure he got his exercise (away from other dogs). I'd recommend her to anyone.”

“Elena was such a blessing! We were let down by a sitter, and Elena arrived last minute, happy to take on the challenge. She was understanding, kept constant communication with us and took our dog out on so many adventures - He probably misses her more than he missed us on holiday! She even went the extra mile to ensure the house was left in a lovely condition when we returned. Elena listened to everything we asked and even fed our little fish on our behalf. She was easy going, friendly, transparent and knowledgeable when caring for our large german shephard X Doberman rescue. We will definitely be working with Elena again in the future! Thank you!!”

“Laura helped us out with a house sit for our springer spaniel ‘Barney’. We cannot recommend her enough. Laura made everything easy as we had not used Rover before. Barney was well looked after and we will be using Laura agin. Thanks Laura especially from Barney”

“Kate was absolutely brilliant with Billie. We were away for 4 nights and she followed instructions to a teacher. Billie can be quite an anxious cat but warmed to Kate well. Kate kept us well informed with lots of pictures, videos and messages to out us at ease. I absolutely would book her again and I'm sure Billie misses her too.”

“We were very lucky that Helen was available at short notice to stay with our mini dachsie for our overnight away. She communicated throughout and gave regular updates. Could not be happier with her service. Thank you so much, Helen!”

About: I love pets more than anything and I would really love to have my own but unfortunately my working schedule wouldn’t allow me to, that’s why I am happy to help out other people here instead :) I am currently working full-time Mon-Fri 7.30am to 3pm and I have some weekends off. I am happy to do house sitting for a few days during the week as long as your pet can stay unsupervised while I’m at work. I live in a flat building but I have a lovely front garden where we can play. I also live very close to common park where I usually go for walks in my free time.
“Jasmine and Nick are absolutely lovely. We were doing a test run with our sensitive Chihuahua Ponte so he gets used to them for their house sitting here for 2 days next week. I would highly recommend them ,they are very intuiative to the animals needs. They enjoyed cuddles with our cat Gulliver and let Ponte just chill and get used to them being around.”

“Lynne was fantastic, taking amazing care of our Labrador, bunnies and our house. Fantastic communication skills, reliable, proactive, I couldn’t have asked for more and I will certainly be in touch as soon as we need house sitting again.”

“Dog seemed to have had a very fun day. Very good communication throughout, and was comfortable with our older blind German Shepherd. He does get quite anxious with new people but there were no problems at all.”

“Sara looked after my fur babies Dougie 2 and Poppy 13wks while I was at my daughter’s wedding. She sent me up dates and photo which reassured me on what was a very busy day. Very happy with the service and would recommend her as a house sitter”

About: Hi! I’m a reliable and caring dog lover with years of hands-on experience looking after dogs of different breeds, sizes, and personalities. I currently have two dogs of my own — a 6-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback called Diesel and an 8-year-old Patterdale Terrier called Scrappy — so I’m very comfortable handling energetic dogs, strong breeds, and dogs with different temperaments and exercise needs. I understand how important it is for pets to feel safe, happy, and well cared for while their owners are away. Whether it’s dog walking, feeding, playtime, companionship, or sticking to your dog’s usual routine, I always make sure every dog gets plenty of attention, care, and exercise. I’m trustworthy, patient, and genuinely love spending time with animals. I’ll treat your dog like one of my own and make sure they’re happy, comfortable, and well looked after at all times. Im a hybrid worker who works from him a few days a week , I am also available weekends for walks , drop in visits or overnight stays if needed I am able to offer visits or boarding , also overnight stays at the owners home if needed . I will insure their safety & care is paramount.
“Summer was fantastic looking after Kenny in our home. Due to his disability he's not your average dog but he was very well looked after. Her communication throughout was great and she looked after our home in an exemplary manner. Thank you Summer!”

“Hayley was so good with our boys, she met them prior to looking after them, came on a walk with us to get to know them a little better. She also came an hour before we left for holiday so we could show her around the house and so that we could settle them with her, they warmed to her so quickly we were instantly at ease. She kept in contact with us throughout our holiday and shared updates and some fab pictures! Would highly recommend Hayley, she kept the house nice and clean and our two dogs were well looked after and very happy boys when we returned. Only complaint was she didn’t eat the Christmas chocolates I asked her to demolish before our return 😜 Would 100% book Hayley again. Thank you x”

“Olivia is very responsible and caring . Murphy lets Olivia stroke and pet him which is amazing as he does not like many people! I would not hesitate to recommend her for dog or cat sitting. My house is always spotless when she leaves. 5 stars all the way!”

Hollie was great, we had updates and good communication, our dog was spoiled and look after brilliantly, Hollie even cleaned and tidied the house, and washed bedding and towels for our arrival home. Sky our German Shepherd was on medication which Hollie did with ease, we highly recommend her.
Abigail was absolutely brilliant. Very efficient when responding with great communication. We had a house sit and she came around to meet our dogs and us and make sure she knew their needs. Throughout the sit we had updates which was greatly appreciated. You can tell our dogs were happy and Abigail was very attentive to their needs. No hesitation in recommending Abigail’s services. Thanks again!

Communication with Lynne was easy and quick to organise the situation & she was punctual. Binkie and my house were well looked after, Binkie was very happy and when we got back & had obviously had a lovely time, I thoroughly recommend Lynne, who is lovely and very committed to looking after her little charge, thank you Lynne!

I would recommend Sara to absolutely anyone needing care for their dog or home. She is kind, polite, extremely responsible and absolutely loves dogs! She looked after our house (better than we do!) while we were away, and kept us well informed of how our dog was doing. We really look forward to welcoming her back next time we need to go away without the dog.

Hannah had travelled to the house a couple months before the booking to meet both Izzy and us, and become familiar with the house. On the first day of the booking she arrived on time and took Izzy on a walk almost immediately. We were kept updated with messages throughout the week and Izzy's requirements were definitely met, adjusting the times of her walks to miss the hottest times of the day. We returned home to find the house spotless and some eggs replaced (although she did not need to!). We would definitely book Hannah again.

Hayley was brilliant with the dogs! I could tell they felt very happy and relaxed with her in the house. Hayley took onboard our advice and particular requirements for our dogs and did everything perfectly. I appreciated the updates she sent during the dog sit and also her flexibility when the stay ended up being a bit longer than first expected. Highly recommend!

Ellie did a fantastic job of looking after our little boy Rocco, he is a nervous dog so needs a little extra care and attention. Ellie gave great updates and made us feel at ease so we could enjoy our holiday. Ellie also took great care of our home, we are so very grateful ❤️

Charlotte did a tremendous job of looking after our 8 year old staffie Gunner for a weekend. She was attentive and clear in her communication with us. Due to the heat, she was happy to take him to a private dog field at 8am one morning to ensure he got his exercise (away from other dogs). I'd recommend her to anyone.

Zilin was fantastic with our Diggle, who can be shy and was in need of company when we were away. Zilin met us beforehand to discuss needs and was so lovely and calm that Diggle took to her quite well. It made all the difference to us to know she was here looking after him and we loved the regular photos and updates we were sent. Despite having a whole lost of requests or rules for Diggle, everything went perfectly and we would book Zilin again in a heartbeat to ensure a very happy, cared for cat!

Amber was an amazing sitter for our two spaniels. They went on some lovely walks and we were updated throughout the sit. She sat at our house and you could see she showed it the most respect. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Amber enough and will most certainly use her services again in the future.

We had such a wonderful experience with Isobel as our dog sitter. She was incredibly reliable and caring, which immediately put us at ease as this was the first time we've gone away since welcoming Dante to our family. Throughout the time we were away, Isobel kept us regularly updated with lots of lovely photos and messages, which really reassured us that our dog was happy and well looked after. It made such a difference being able to see how much fun they were having! She also took our dog out for long walks, making sure he got plenty of exercise and attention. It was clear that she genuinely cares about the dogs she looks after and treats them like her own. Thanks to Isobel, we were able to relax and enjoy our time away without any worries. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and attentive dog sitter.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Southampton walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Southampton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
