“Rhea sat with our gentle giant labrador for the day. Rhea met Yogi prior to the stay and was just such a lovely lady with a gentle nature that i knew straight away Yogi would like her and be safe whilst we enjoyed a whole day out which does not happen often! Yogi was completely relaxed when we returned and Rhea had taken Yogi out for a walk and followed his feeding regime. Yogi has arthritis and we don't tend to leave him for long so it was lovely to have the opportunity of a day out and we will be planning another one shortly :)”

“Michelle is amazing! I couldn’t believe my old boy Barleys reaction in seeing her again, he bounds around with excitement like a puppy! I feel so lucky in finding Michelle and Phil, they are brilliant.”

“Sacha was very happy with Lewis who looked after her and our house with no problems what so ever. Lewis is a great guy who’s approach to both Sacha and ourselves was relaxed and professional. We will definitely use him again in the future. Highly recommend.”

“Megan is an absolute dog whisperer and a brilliant house sitter. We would book her again in a heartbeat. Our dogs don’t always take to people too quickly but they absolutely adored Megan and were a little disappointed when we came home. She treated them like they were her own and would send funny updates and pictures during the stay. She got to know their quirks and made sure they were loved and entertained - even ensuring they stayed cool and calm in the extreme heat we’ve been having. Megan also left the house absolutely spotless (despite my incredibly moulty dogs) and very kindly did the laundry. Thank you Megan!”

About: I have moved to Portsmouth from NZ and here for my husband's job. Unfortunately, we had to leave our dog Remy in NZ with family. He is a 5 year old schnauzer. I love animals, I'm reliable, friendly and great with small/medium sized dogs. Happy to help with regular walks or the occasional extra hand and dog sitting. As I work part-time, I make sure I’m not working on days I care for a dog, so they receive lots of attention and companionship. Your dog will join me for morning and evening walks. If I need to pop out for groceries or errands, your dog will be safely left in their crate. At night, they’ll sleep in their crate in my room, so they won’t be alone overnight — and I’ll be right nearby. I provide attentive and responsible pet care in my apartment. Dogs are always kept on a lead during walks, and I take them out for morning and evening walks to ensure they get enough exercise and fresh air. I follow the owner’s instructions closely to ensure pets feel comfortable, safe, and well cared for. Since I miss having a dog around, I’ll happily soak up all the tail wags, walks, and puppy love your dog has to offer.
“Keighley recently looked after my two dogs for the day. We met before hand and they both took to her straight away. I also asked if she could take them to the local paddock which Keighley was happy to do. She updated me through the day and included photos which was lovely. Will definitely be booking Keighley again! Thank you for taking great care of my girls!”

“Samantha was a star 🌟 , she was amazing and my westies loved her , had updates and pictures throughout the day , and came back to 2 tired out dogs . Will definitely book Samantha again x”

About: Hi, I'm Kimberley! I've lived with cats ever since I was born which means I've grown up knowing how to care for them. I work as part of a civil service and my schedule is fairly flexible. I also have a valid DBS. My cat is called Eva and she's a 13 year old sassy tortie! I've had her since she was rescued as a kitten and my mum has her brother. In my spare time I love reading, crafts and journalling! I work full-time so my availability is mostly weekends when I am available to spend all day with your pet or drop-in visits on weekdays. Let me know what your pet needs and I can make it work! E.g. if your pet needs a certain amount of exercise, or sticking to a set routine, that's not a problem.
About: I have had dogs around me since I was a child. I have experience with small dogs as well as larger dogs. I have the most experience with larger dogs such as Border Collies, Labradors and Foxhounds. I am currently self employed, working as a security guard. I have a lot of notice when it comes to security shifts so can always prioritise work with your animals. My cats are indoor cats. So I have various cat trees and toys that they play with on a daily basis. I am comfortable with giving flea treatments as well as rewarding them with treats.
“Sally is a lovely young lady with a calm friendly persona. Our dog was very chilled and felt at ease with Sally. I have never left our boy with anyone before but I will definitely be happy to leave him with Sally again should the need arise. Thank you Sally x”

About: I’ve taken care of a young cat aged 1 and a Rottweiler aged 11. Both at separate times and from a the shortest of 8 days. I have also owned my own pets including my cat aged 1 and a few German Shepard’s throughout childhood into adulthood. Currently unemployed meaning I am available fulltime to look after the pets that need to be cared for which is always a good thing for pet owners Nice big fenced off garden with currently no pets at the home. My cat stays with my ex gf mostly so the house is free of pets
About: I have worked as a veterinary assistant for 3 years now, and I absolutely love caring for animals! I work with cats, dogs and small furries everyday with plenty of experience in handling, caring, behaviours etc... I have been pet sitting and dog walking since January this year, and after a very successful few months on Pawshake I have decided to join Rover too. This is along side my full time working hours at my vets, please message me before booking so I can check my shift times. I work full time at my Vets and I pet sit and dog walk in my spare time so please give me a message to see if I’m available. I do not offer services for pets at my house as I live in a house share and pets are not allowed. I am willing to stay at pet owners house.
About: Me and my partner Ben, 27 & 29 have both had pets our whole lives. We have loads of free time in the day and would love to look after your pets! I also have an enhanced DBS. We have free time in the days and weekends, one of us can always be home, and we have so much free time for walks and playing! We have a fenced off back garden with plenty of space, and shade. Lots of space indoors, nice and secure. And a lovely walk nearby. The gates to the garden are padlocked, and the house is alarmed.
About: I've had dogs in my life from our Pointer when I was a child to more recently my Labrador who is no longer with us. My partner has a Shih Tzu and we share looking after her as we live in separate houses. I work mornings from home and every afternoon walk along the seafront where I live, so why not walk with a dog? I'm also very close to Southsea Common and enjoy walking there as well. I can either pick up your dog or it can be dropped off depending on the time. I have a walled garden and a house with no carpet on the ground floor - which comes in handy for any accidents! I live on my own but could only house sit at weekends as I work every morning.
About: Hi my name is Ellisia! A little about me, I was very lucky to have Fostered 8-10 rescues from Europe in my home as a volunteer for a new leash for life charity (Hampshire based dog charity) in 2023. And rescued one of those of my own who is now a lover. Dog grooming assistant qualified, at Chichester college. I handled dog breeds or all shapes and sizes. And can bath, groom and trim nails. 2 months volunteering in Thailand in a dog sanctuary back in 2020. When I assisted with the running of the dog rescue centre. Bathing, feeding and comforting new rescues. And walking the resident dogs. Owned my own dog for 1 year now! And grew up with a family dog ( a Norfolk terrier) for 17years from the age of 11-28, she sparked my love for animals and dogs that’s for sure. Have been walking and sitting dogs for the last 2 years approximately along side my job which is work from home. With the intention to eventually do this full time. “Aliya and her partner Amir were the most wonderful sitters, very kind, patient and nothing was too much trouble. This was the first time I have left my two little dogs in the hands of sitters, as I always had my father, who has now passed away, look after them, so a little nervous but I really could not have wished for a couple as lovely as Aliya and Amir to take care of Bumble and Basil. I had regular updates and photos, they did not leave them at home alone at all during their 5 days and gave them regular walks. My home was also kept clean and tidy. would highly recommend either to anyone to look after their beloved pets.”

Pet owners share their Rover experiences - Gosport
Rhea helped us last minute after a pre-arranged sitter cancelled 2 days before. She couldn’t have been more helpful and focused on ensuring the dogs felt comfortable. She sent regular updates and photos. The dogs were really happy. It was lovely to go away and know my dogs were happy and well looked after. I would thoroughly recommend Rhea.

Chloe was an absolute star. She kept in touch with us, checking best course of action when our dog wouldn’t eat and suggested tricks failed, but also just generally to let us know all was well and send the odd photo or two. On our return the house was lovely and tidy and it was obvious that the animals had been well loved. This was our second time of using Chloe and we will use her again, work permitting.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Gosport walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Gosport choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
