We booked Molly to dog sit in our house over a wedding weekend for the first time. As I already knew our pup loves her, there was no hesitation there! Molly provided great pup-dates and left the house clean and tidy. We’ll definitely be rebooking - thanks Molly !

Hilary was great with my sometimes anxious pup. I felt confident leaving him with her and we will definitely ask her again in the future. This was the first time we'd left Badger with someone he didn't know and I was thrilled to get the updates during our day away which left me feeling confident in the knowledge that he was being wonderfully looked after by a lovely person. Many thanks Hilary you made our New Years Eve and sons wedding day so much better knowing that you were taking care of our boy, and he would give you five stars too!

Inga seemed really sad on the day of our departure on a long planned trip but was overjoyed when John arrived, which eased our anxieties a great deal. John explored far and wide with her and sent photos and videos of their exploits. We were in North America and the time difference meant we woke up to the updates and really looked forward to them. John took Inga to places he could safely let her off the lead and she responded very well. As a 10 month old puppy we'd had patchy success with recall training so far but John has done a lot in the last couple of weeks. John has also been able to advise about leads and harnesses to suit Inga who is very strong and determined when she chooses. We value his knowledge and experience and Inga and he clearly have a very strong bond.

Ally and Steven looked after our rescue dog Koda for a long weekend whilst we were away. This was the first time that we have left him and it was an amazing experience. Koda loved them both and within a few hours of us leaving he was having cuddles on the sofa. They really looked after him and left the house spotless and their communication whilst we were away was perfect and enabled us to relax and join our holiday knowing Koda was being looked after really well. Will definitely be rebooking with them. Thank you so much for making our first trip away such a success.

Bella & Biscuit didn’t get chance to miss us with the love and attention Sophie showered upon them. Great to feel assured your pups are comfy in their home surroundings. Video and picture updates kept me connected while having to go through my mum’s funeral abroad. Would highly recommend Sophie to stay in your home with your four legged loved ones.

About: Dogs have been part of my life for as long as I can remember — I started looking after neighbours’ and family’s pets around age 10, and it’s grown into something people trust me with regularly. I’m just as comfortable handling multiple dogs at once as I am with a single pup, and I bring the same patience and attention to every dog in my care, whatever the weather. Alongside my pet care experience, I also have 5 years of house sitting experience, so your home will be looked after just as well as your dog. I always stick closely to feeding schedules and routines exactly as instructed. From September, I’m available Wednesdays, Thursday mornings, Friday afternoons, most evenings, and weekends — so there’s plenty of flexibility for walks, drop-ins, or boarding. I’m starting midwifery training that month, which shapes my availability around those specific days and times, but I’m consistent and reliable within that schedule. I always try and plan visits around your pet’s usual routine rather than fitting them around mine, so feeding, walking, and playtime stay on track I look after pets in their own home, which I find keeps things calm and familiar for them — no unsettling car journeys or unfamiliar spaces. I follow your instructions closely, whether that’s feeding times, walking routes, or any particular quirks your pet has. I’m comfortable in a range of home environments and always treat your space with the same care and respect as I would my own.

Kerry was great from the time that we met here to when she looked after Jovi for us. She sent us a message when she arrived, then whilst she was at our house and then when she left. Our house was left exactly the same way as when we left and our dog Jovi was well looked after. I would recommend using Kerry and will be using her again. Thank you again Kerry.

About: I’m here to give your pet 10/10 care - I will do everything to make sure your pet is made to feel calm, welcome, and relaxed whilst ensuring they have a playful and fun time too. I have two miniature dachshunds - Rolo (3.5 years) & Cooper (1 year). They are friendly, cuddly and love to be around other dogs. We live in a quiet cul-de-sac with a fenced garden. I can offer toilet breaks every 2 hours and there are 2 nearby parks for regular walks and fresh air (3 mins and 6 mins away). I will pay attention to dietary needs and can give tablet medication if required. Treats are provided (if allowed!) and we have plenty of toys for them to play with. When the dogs sleep, I play Smooth Chill radio on the Alexa to make them feel more relaxed and settled. Book with me today and you can be reassured your pet will have a happy stay! I work from home 2-3 days a week (days vary, but I will keep my calendar up to date so availability will be as accurate as possible). My job is very laid back with very few calls so I can give my attention to your pet when they are with me at home. *** I will not leave your dog alone - I will only accept bookings on my work from home / annual leave days and weekends when I am here to give them my full care and attention **** We have a fenced garden for plenty of toilet breaks, playtime, sunbathing (in good weather!), they can relax in the garden with me, where there is plenty of shade (we are in a bit of a dip where we live, so it stays very cool) and in colder weather they can stay warm inside - my dogs love to soak up the warmth from a tower heater whilst snoozing. When the dogs sleep, I play Smooth Chill radio on the Alexa to make them feel more relaxed and settled. We have plenty of toys (chew, rope, squeaky, crinkle). Treats will be given (if allowed!) and I will pay close attention to dietary needs and feeding requirements. Book with me today and you can be reassured your pet will have a happy stay! If your dog is anxious / doesn’t like to be fussed over / prefers quiet - this will be noted and respected. Whatever your needs, please state this on your booking request. Thank you!

Jasmine was excellent with our animals and house! We could tell they had a great Time with her, and they were incredibly well looked after. Jasmine has incredible communication skills and I felt that Ham and Arty were in very safe hands. We can’t wait to have Jasmine look after them again in August!

About: I have dog sit for two dogs on a regular basis - one being a puppy and the other being nearly 10. I house sit at the same time and am always sure they get Princess treatment . I have also previously looked after two cats whilst also looking after my own at home a few years ago! I’m currently a uni student who has a lot of free time plus luckily have a car that can be put to use for long distances ! I’m super flexible and can adapt to any environment! I have a fenced garden in my house plus no pets of my own that would need to be taken into consideration. They will receive all my attention and love

About: I’ve been walking dogs since I was 14, starting by helping an elderly lady with her dogs. That experience taught me how important patience, reliability, and understanding each dog’s individual needs are. I also have my own Pomeranians, so I’m used to caring for high maintenance breeds that require plenty of attention and exercise. (My dogs will not be there whilst looking after yours) Looking after my own dogs has given me hands on experience with different personalities, routines, and care requirements. I treat every dog as if they were my own, making sure they feel safe, happy, and well cared for. Whether it’s a relaxed stroll, an energetic walk, or simply providing lots of love and attention, I’m committed to giving every pet the best possible care. As a teacher, I’m available to walk dogs on weekends throughout the year. During school holidays and half terms, which are frequent, I have much more flexibility and am available for dog sitting, drop in visits, and longer periods of care while you’re away. This means your pet can enjoy plenty of attention, exercise, and companionship during your holiday bookings, giving you peace of mind that they’re in safe and caring hands. Your pet’s comfort and safety are my top priorities. I’ve recently bought my own home, which has a secure, fully fenced garden with plenty of space for dogs to run around, play, and go to the toilet safely. Inside, my home is clean, calm, and welcoming, with plenty of room for pets to relax. During warmer weather, the house stays nice and cool, helping to keep dogs comfortable and prevent them from overheating. I’ll follow your pet’s usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding times, walks, playtime, and lots of love and attention, so they feel happy and at home while they’re with me. If your pet is more comfortable in familiar surroundings, I’m also happy to pet sit in your home, ensuring they can stick to their usual routine while receiving the same loving, reliable care.

Mel was brilliant with our two terriers. She sent loads of videos and photos so we could keep up to date with their fun and games and the dogs were relaxed and happy when we got home. She did a great job with their various nutritional and medication requirements. Mel was a very tidy houseguest and we have already booked her for a second time.

Hannah agreed to look after Milo at short notice, which was very much appreciated. Her communication throughout the booking process and his stay was fantastic. She even allowed us to be flexible with the drop-off and pick up times, which was so useful, due to changing travel plans. We would hesitate in using Hannah's sitting services again, or recommending her to others.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Winchester on Rover is £46 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 1,228 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Winchester. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Winchester walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Winchester choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
