“Highly recommend Aimee. Did so well with my chow puppy, who is a menace. Felt completely at ease leaving him with Aimee. She followed all requests and looked after the whole house well. Aimee ensured there was frequent communication and lots of pics updates, Charles is besotted with his new friend already!”

“Olivia looked after our 8 month old, very energetic puppy for a week while we were on holiday. She had a wonderfully calm presence and really cared for my dog. She kept me updated with messages and pictures. Olivia was also a perfect house-guest, leaving the place spotless. I would not hesitate to book her again. Thanks Olivia!”

“Michelle was so attentive and communicative as she looked after Theo. We received regular updates - all with Theo living his best life!! We felt safe leaving him in Michelle’s capable hands, and he seemed to absolutely love his time with her. Thanks so much Michelle”

“Maria was absolutely lovely, very friendly, reliable, and clearly great with cats. Mine warmed up to her quickly and were well looked after. She kept me updated with messages and photos, which gave me real peace of mind while I was away. She also left the house in a good state. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her and would happily book her again.”

“Elizabete was great, she was punctual, patient and a very calming influence on our Binki who has separation issues, we wouldn’t hesitate in using Elizabete again and will definitely do so”

“We had the pleasure of having Zuzanna take care of our three dogs over the weekend while we were away, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience! From the very first interaction, she was friendly, professional, and clearly an animal lover. She took the time to get to know our dogs' personalities, their routines, and preferences, which made us feel at ease leaving them behind. Throughout the weekend, Zuzana sent us little updates, along with photos of our dogs enjoying their time. It was so comforting to know they were in such great hands. Our pups are a handful—one's a high-energy pup, another's a bit shy, and the third is a senior with some special needs—but she handled it all with ease and affection. The dogs were calm, happy, and healthy when we returned, which says it all. We truly appreciate how much attention was given to each of their unique needs We highly recommend Zuzanna to anyone looking for a reliable, caring dog sitter! We’ll definitely be booking again for our future trips. Thank you again!”

“Nasima looked after our dog Alba all day and gave her such a lovely time. Alba was happy, cared for and tired out when I came home. Nasima even came and met me and Alba beforehand which was lovely and our dog absolutely loves Nasima! Thank you.”

“Cian was amazing with Holmes. He took time to meet Holmes (and me) prior to the sit giving Holmes time to get to know him and warm up quickly. He was a great communicator and sent updates and photos throughout the sit. I would highly recommend Cian.”

About: Hi, I’m Freya. I’ve always loved animals and currently have a cat of my own, so I understand how important it is to know your pet is safe, comfortable, and well looked after while you’re away. After recently losing my dog, I realised how much I miss having dogs around and how much joy they bring to daily life. That’s what inspired me to start caring for other people’s pets through Rover. I’d love to give dogs and cats the attention, affection, walks, playtime, and companionship they deserve. I’m calm, patient, and attentive to each animal’s personality and needs — whether that’s energetic walks, cuddle time on the sofa, or simply keeping a nervous pet company and helping them feel secure. I’m happy to provide regular updates, photos, and plenty of reassurance while your pet is in my care. I know pets are family, and I’ll treat yours like my own. I’d love to meet you and your furry friend! From June until August, I am home from university so very free to be looking after animals! They will never be left for too long and I will always make time for them. I have a cat at home who is very docile, I love to go on walks and spend time with animals whether that be by the tv or on the beach!
About: Having grown up around both cats and dogs I am familiar and comfortable with them, I have vast experience taking care of cats. As well as some experience looking after the dogs of some friends and family. I’m currently working as a teaching assistant with an agency, meaning I choose which days I work, so I can build my schedule around the needs of you or your pets. I tailor my care to each pet’s routine and the service being provided. Focusing on keeping pets comfortable and stress free. I will follow your instructions for your pets/house closely.
About: I have my own dog who is 3 and is a bit mad, I regularly take care of friends and family’s dogs, happy to take care of young puppies too. I work shifts so tend to have a lot of free time during the day, my week changes from week to week but it’s worth a message to see if I’m free Currently living in house with garden, dogs of all energy levels suit me. I’m able to come to owners house too for check ins and walks.
About: Ive taken care of a range of different animals from cats to lizards i am a huge animal lover and I’ve had tons of experience with animals young and old I am available whenever you need me i can walk dogs, cat and dog sit or for simple walk ins throughout the day to check on your furry friends I can feed and play with your animal/ animals i know alot of animals are nervous around new people but im very cautious and calm to help with their nerves
About: I’m always the one asked to dog or cat sit! I absolutely love doing it and getting to know the pets. I do sometimes think I’m a dog whisperer as I seem to know what they want or are thinking. I provide lots of cuddles and plenty of play. I have experience looking after both large and small dogs. I have also looked after multiple dogs at once, meeting each of their specific needs. I have experience with nervous and anxious dogs too, adapting the dog walk to suit the dog. I currently work in hospitality but I’m able to be flexible with my days and shifts. I love going out for walks so a little dog to join me would be fab. This gives me the best of both worlds as I sometimes travel so having a pet isn’t suitable for me full time. I have a fenced garden and plenty of parks to offer a well deserved play outside. I enjoy caring for pets in their own home and getting to know their home comforts and routine.
About: I have loved and cared for animals for as long as I can remember. I grew up with dogs and cared for a 16-year-old Jack Russell/Cocker Spaniel and currently a 4-year-old Jack Russell puppy. They are truly the sweetest dogs, and caring for them is my favourite part of everyday life. Because of them, I have hands-on experience with both senior dogs and puppies, including weekend puppy training, adapting routines for older dogs, and understanding changing needs as dogs age. I also have extensive experience with dogs who need a little extra patience and understanding. My current dog, Lottie, is four years old and struggles with anxiety, high energy levels, and reactivity such as barking. I’ve taken her to behavioural and therapy-based training sessions, and through this I’ve learned how to calmly support anxious dogs, use positive reinforcement, maintain structure, and tailor care to help them feel safe and settled. I’m very comfortable caring for energetic, nervous, or sensitive dogs and always take the time to understand what works best for each individual. As my wider family has grown, so has my experience, I’m now the “go-to” dog sitter for family and friends and have cared for a wide range of breeds, from huskies to chihuahuas. This followed me to university as well, where I regularly looked after other people’s dogs, gaining confidence with different personalities, routines, and energy levels. Alongside dogs, I am a lifelong cat lover. I grew up with my own rescued three-legged cat, Tinkabelle, who was very affectionate and loved staying close to home, and later cared for Tiggo, a more independent, free-roaming cat who lived to 17 years old. My sister now lives in France with five cats, and I regularly look after them when I visit, so I’m very comfortable managing multiple cats, varied routines, and different temperaments. I’m patient, reliable, and genuinely passionate about animal care. I always aim to stick closely to your pet’s usual routine to keep them relaxed while you’re away, and I’m very happy to provide regular photo and text updates for peace of mind. Your pets will be cared for as if they were my own. Dogs fit really naturally into my daily routine. I work from home with a very flexible schedule, which means I can fully accommodate a dog’s individual needs rather than fitting them around a rigid timetable. I’m able to take dogs out for early morning walks (I’m an early riser), as well as longer walks during the day and again in the evening if needed. I’m a very active person and live close to green spaces and parks, so walks, playtime, and enrichment are a normal part of my day. Because I can finish work when I need to, I’m always available for toilet breaks, feeding schedules, medication, training reinforcement, or simply spending time with dogs who need company and reassurance. Whether a dog needs lots of exercise, a calm structured routine, or extra patience and attention, I’m completely flexible and happy to adapt my day around what helps them feel most comfortable and settled. I tailor my care to each pet’s individual needs and personality. I’m completely open and flexible in how I care for dogs, whether they need lots of attention, reassurance, and companionship, or whether they’re more independent and simply need someone present to help them feel safe and settled at home. I have experience caring for dogs across a wide range of temperaments, from very needy or anxious dogs to those who are more relaxed and self-sufficient. I take the time to understand what each dog needs to feel comfortable, happy, and secure, and I adjust my approach accordingly. My priority is always to make sure your dog feels safe, cared for, and at ease while you’re away.

Aimee was incredible! My dog is a bundle of energy and was so excited to meet Aimee for the first time, which meant she wanted to play for the entire time. Aimee was respectful of my home and my dogs routine, sending updates throughout on all the fun. Highly recommended!

Maria was brilliant. Communications were fantastic, she showed up on time, sent plenty of photos and most importantly Tai was clearly having the best time with her. We came back to a tidy flat, and everything she had used had been cleaned too! We'll absolutely be rebooking her in whenever we need a dog sitter!

Megan is an absolute dog whisperer and a brilliant house sitter. We would book her again in a heartbeat. Our dogs don’t always take to people too quickly but they absolutely adored Megan and were a little disappointed when we came home. She treated them like they were her own and would send funny updates and pictures during the stay. She got to know their quirks and made sure they were loved and entertained - even ensuring they stayed cool and calm in the extreme heat we’ve been having. Megan also left the house absolutely spotless (despite my incredibly moulty dogs) and very kindly did the laundry. Thank you Megan!

Louise was fab! She looked after our 5mth staffy pups and very old cat. Both were well looked after and cared for. Louise was easy to contact and kept me fully updated on their daily ventures with lots of pics of both. She looked after my house and kept my plants alive in the heatwave, watering them twice daily! Would highly recommend for house sitting your fur babies and will defo be booking her again!
I couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter! Georgia and Thalia stayed for 3 days and Bertie/Basilwere so well looked after. I received regular updates and lovely photos throughout, which gave me complete peace of mind while I was away. The boys were clearly happy, relaxed and enjoying themselves. To top it all off, I came home to a spotless house. I would absolutely recommend and wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Thank you so much for taking such great care of my boys!

10/10! Chantelle was amazing. I am super anxious leaving my pups due to a previous bad experience but Chantelle put me right at ease. Easily reachable, took lots of pictures and gave lots of updates, couldn’t have wished for a better doggy sitter 🥰 Clearly very good at what she does, will 100% rebook in future!

We couldn’t have asked for better dog sitters! They took such amazing care of all 3 of our dogs, including our senior blind dog who needs medication and extra attention. They were patient, caring, and made us feel completely at ease while we were away. Our two high-energy dogs were also so well cared for and clearly got lots of love and attention. They also did daily check-ins with us and sent so many pictures and videos, which meant the world to us and gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It’s not easy handling dogs with such different needs, but they did an absolutely incredible job. We came home to happy, relaxed pups and are so grateful. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for trustworthy, compassionate pet sitters!

Zoe was great & we can highly recommend her! Wicklow clearly had an amazing day. We received some lovely photos during the sit & he was happy and calm when we got home. Zoe is really friendly, reliable and her communication was great throughout. We would book her again in an instant.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Portsmouth choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
