About: What sets me apart is my experience, patience and understanding of animal behaviour. I do not believe in a one size fits all approach to caring for animals. Every pet is an individual, with their own personality, needs and experiences, and I take the time to understand and work with them at their own pace. During and after my 3 years at Merrist Wood College, learning to work with and care for them, I have worked with a wide variety of animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, reptiles, farm animals and British wildlife. This experience has given me a strong understanding of animal behaviour and body language, including how to recognise when an animal may be anxious, fearful, overwhelmed or reactive. I am particularly patient with animals who may need extra time to build trust or feel comfortable in a new situation. Whether your pet is nervous, reactive, highly energetic, elderly, has specific needs or simply takes a little longer to warm up to new people, I take a calm, gentle and individual approach. I never force interaction and instead allow animals to build confidence at their own pace. With over 13 years of experience working with animals, I bring a calm, patient and observant approach to every pet I care for. I believe that building trust is one of the most important parts of animal care, and i take great pride in forming genuine connections with animals - even those who may initially find new people or situations difficult. If you would like a copy of my CV, please do ask. I am very flexible and happy to work around your needs. Whether you need a couple of hours each day, or full day care, a few days a week or every day. I can tailor my schedule to provide consistent, reliable support for you and your pets. Your pets will be cared for as if they were my own - with lots of love, attention and care. I provide a calm, safe and comfortable environment, follow your instructions closely, and keep you updated so you can have complete peace of mind while you're away.
“Bella & Biscuit didn’t get chance to miss us with the love and attention Sophie showered upon them. Great to feel assured your pups are comfy in their home surroundings. Video and picture updates kept me connected while having to go through my mum’s funeral abroad. Would highly recommend Sophie to stay in your home with your four legged loved ones.”

About: I’m Yvie, a dog owner since the age of 16. I’m a mother to 3 grown up children and a grandmother, a huge animal lover and a Reiki Master, my healing work often extends to dogs, in particular. After the recent loss of our lovely parsons terrier Tobi, I will be new to pet sitting from November 2026. Offering week end breaks for small to medium pets and specialising in terriers and senior pets. I have been luckily enough to be owned by 2 x jack Russell’s and 1 x parsons terrier during my life time. I’m happy with any small / medium breed. But I’m not confident with larger breeds. I have a great understanding of senior care as 2 of my boys reached almost 15. From medication in food, eye drops, reduced walks and washing of legs due to mishaps, muzzles … I’ve done it all . I work from home Monday & Tuesday and I can do this work from anywhere, so I can be on hand for play time and garden breaks. I will initially be offering to stay week ends/ long weekends and if permitted, on occasions, my partner Stu will come along too, for a night or 2. He is of course also insured, as in time we intend to offer home boarding to enable us to offer longer stays. Stu is a tactile big softy - he’s the tickler …he is a full time gardener and handyman and always has a pocket full of treats to charm his regulars! He loves both dogs and cats and will sit for hours, giving them the fuss and love they deserve. This is his way of relaxing after a hard, weathered week. I’m the walker, the feeder and the practical one … of course I tickle too :). My main work is freelance administration, amongst other things, in and around my healing work (if you feel your pet would benefit from Reiki healing please let me know, I’m happy to add this on as an extra). We have recently lost our 14 year old boy, we adopted him aged 9, so we knew we would never have enough time with him . Boarding (to hopefully follow, late 2026) and house / pet sitting have always been in our long term plan. As animal lovers, we feel we need a break from the daily responsibility and full time commitment, that a furry friend brings. This is our way of getting our pet fix and travelling a bit, with our new found freedoms. I have a life time experience of dogs and Stu has always been drawn to cats, this is his area of expertise. Although our charges are higher than most, I feel they are a true reflection of the friendly, warm and loving care that will be given to both your beloved pet and your home. We both love all animals, I relied heavily on Rover to help me , when I lived alone many years ago and travelled 3/4 nights a week with a corporate job. My boy had a team of trusted companions, most of which I found on here and some from my local village, they all made his time away from me, stress free and easy and I was always assured that he was having the best care. One dog carer in particular was chosen by my dog ! On a walk through the village he launched all of his affection at her, which was very unusual, after chatting she turned out to be a pet sitter and walker and there friendship continued from that day, We would have been lost without her invaluable help over the years, enabling us to take day trips and long week ends away, worry free. I now hope my experience, in all areas, will keep your pet as happy as they can be. For distance stays our initial meeting will be via video, spending time chatting, introducing me to your pet/s and home, learning about routines and of course quirks! For local stays, we will arrange a meet & greet. You have my assurance that your pet/s and home our safe in my hands. I have an enhanced DBS check, insurance, pet first aid along with a lifetime of experience. Offering daily updates whilst you’re away, reliability, great communication and professionalism. Our aim is to keep your mind at ease, so you can relax and enjoy your pet free time, we totally understand how hard it is to leave them and how important it is to have a pet free break away . Stays further away may be possible for an extra charge. At the weekends my day will be spent following your usual routine requirements. If I’m in a new area i/ we will pop out for a short time to explore, ensuring that we are not away, for more than a few hours. Monday and Tuesday dogs will be walked before work, at lunch (weather permitting in midday heat etc ) and of an evening. Following your meal, medication and sleep requirements, so your fur baby keeps to there usual routine. Whilst caring for pets in your home I will follow your instructions. Please leave a folder of your pets care needs, inclusive of vet details and emergency contact & dietary information. I will only offer on lead walks to dogs but will happily attend pre paid dog walking paddocks, if required. If I’m working from home, regular breaks will made to allow for tickle and toilet breaks . Whilst at your home I will require a small amount of fridge space, WiFi code and a comfy bed. A home section in the folder is really handy giving instructions for any alarms, heating, cooking equipment etc.
“Ali was professional and reliable and came before to meet the dogs and learn about them. She was very considerate of the dogs needs and they were clearly very relaxed in her presence which is unusual and great to see. She gave me feedback how the dogs were doing during the day which was appreciated! Would book again!”

“As always, Jasmine was incredible! We went away for 10 days for our Honeymoon, which is the longest we’ve ever left our pets and I was expecting to feel so anxious. However, Jasmine was incredible with regular updates, communication and plenty of photos. Jasmine made me feel so at ease. We can truly tell that Ham and Arty are in love with Jasmine and they are so well looked after her. I loved hearing how they bonded over the time we were away. Since Jasmine was house sitting, I can’t fail to mention how well looked after the house was as well! I swear it’s more tidy than when we left. We are so happy to have found someone we trust with our pets and will absolutely be booking with Jasmine again!”

About: I have had dogs now for almost 10 years and have trained and walked multiple dogs of friends and family. I am certified dog trainer and know all basic training techniques. “Hilary was fantastic. Thoroughly recommend her services. She did all she could to make Bazil contented whilst we were away. She’s great with our boy. He had a variety of experiences, she made sure to under stand his routine and our requirements and we felt very confident that he was in good hands. Thank you for everything Hilary! Hope to see you again sometime soon x”

About: I have been around dogs and cats my whole life always having them within the family ( I currently have two dogs). My mum used to do dog boarding at home so I have experience helping to care for up to 6 dogs at one time and I love it! I also understand the importance of all dogs requiring different needs and am able to cater for this ( experience of 7 years being since the age of 18). I am currently working full time Monday to Friday however as I work from home I have the flexibility of caring for your pet from the comfort of their home during the week and then I have flexibility for any time at weekends. I also can offer dog walks mornings and evenings if it is not dark and during the day on weekends. I will go above and beyond to ensure your pet feels safe and comfortable in my presence whether that be smothering them with attention or giving them their space and slowly building the trust ( even if that is through treat bribery🫣). I will always give them the attention they deserve and ensure they have either a fun or rested time- whichever they prefer!
“Bethan was so great looking after my 10 month old husky. Communication and updates were provided as well as my house being respected. Would highly recommend and will happily have look after Luna again - thank you”

As of August 2026, there are 1,146 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Test Valley. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Test Valley walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Test Valley choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
