Jade looked after our dog, Winnie, for eight nights, and we couldn't have been happier with the care she received. From the very first communication, Jade was warm, friendly, and reassuring. Winnie had a trial day before her stay, and on both occasions she ran straight in as soon as the front door opened, which told us everything we needed to know! Jade kept us updated throughout Winnie's stay with regular photos, which was greatly appreciated. At no point did I worry about Winnie's welfare, and considering the UK was in the middle of a heatwave, that was especially reassuring. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Jade to anyone looking for a caring and trustworthy dog boarder. Winnie was clearly happy and well looked after, and we'll definitely be booking with Jade again

What a brilliant experience we had with Eleanor and Raymond. This was the first time we have left our very high energy, crazy Labrador over night and he absolutely loved it. Both Eleanor and Raymond were so good with him. They took time to understand his needs and make it the most positive experience. Nothing seemed to faze them and it's very easy to see how much they love having dogs around. We feel incredibly lucky to have found them and Rosso is looking forward to more adventures with them.

First time away from home, and siblings Dougal and Daisy (18 months) landed on their feet with Louise C and family. She settled them both quickly and efficiently to help them adapt to to new surroundings. We hope next time will be even easier.

Sandra was absolutely amazing. Rupert had the most fun playing with Charlie all weekend. He came back a very happy boy. Sandra was great with sending updates over the weekend and she provided a fantastic environment for him. We will certainly be using her again if the opportunity arose and would highly recommend her to anyone.

Brandon did a fantastic job looking after my very energetic 2-year-old Labrador for 10 days! From the moment we met, it was clear he understood exactly what my dog needed to stay happy and healthy. He kept him active with plenty of exercise, playtime, and mental stimulation, which is no small feat with such a high-energy pup. Brandon was also great about keeping me updated with photos and little stories, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. I came home to a happy, healthy, and well-exercised dog who clearly adored his time with Brandon. I couldn’t recommend him more highly to anyone looking for a caring, responsible, and enthusiastic pet sitter!

Shadia took my beagle boy Uno overnight and he had a brilliant time. As anyone who knows the breed will tell you, beagles aren’t the easiest! But Shadia was great with him, regularly sending pictures and giving me updates on how he was getting on. Uno also got on brilliantly with Shadia’s retriever, Skye (who is absolutely lovely) and they clearly played endlessly. He came home the next day and went straight into nap mode! Can thoroughly recommend Shadia and will use her services again in future. 😊

Sophie kept us updated throughout our pups stay with her. Lots of beautiful pictures and reassurance that they were absolutely fine and in excellent hands. When we picked the girls up you could instantly tell how much they had warmed to her, so much so that Dottie laid on her back for more belly rubs from Sophie rather than us 😂. Their family dog Theo is so friendly and welcoming to new doggies in his house and it’s lovely that when we go away now, not only do our dogs have human company, they also have another 4 legged friend to play with! Will definitely be using Sophie for all our future boardings and would recommend people to do the same.

Chloe was amazing and couldn’t have been more helpful. We needed help looking after Ottie to attend a funeral and Chloe was kind, flexible, organised … Ottie had a wonderful time and when we arrived looked very happy. She had been looked after brilliantly. We couldn’t be happier with the care she received. I would highly recommend Chloe.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
