Fiona, James and their daughters made our two dogs very welcome in their home and looked after them very well. We had regular photos and updates, and they have come home very relaxed and happy. They accommodated Dizzy (a rescue with issues with other dogs) very well, avoiding situations that could upset her. Thanks Fiona & James!

Mollie has just come back from another stay with Caroline and we can’t thank her enough. Mollie settled right from the start and nothing was too much trouble . She went above and beyond for us when we were delayed in picking her up and she treats our dog as if she is her own, Mollie has come back very relaxed and I can wholeheartedly recommend.

This was a repeat visit and again David was absolutely brilliant. Juno had a problem with her paws and David followed the care instructions from the vet meticulously. I had no worries at all about her care. He kept me completely up to date and I was so relieved that he was looking after her. I highly recommend him and will certainly book him again.

Couldn't ask for more, really. Have left our two dogs with Brandon and family a few times now and each time they've been looked after brilliantly. Lots of interaction, care and understanding. I will have no hesitation in using Brandon again, and indeed recommending him to others.

This was Bear's first time with Ron and it could not have gone better. Thank you Ron, as this really gives us piece of mind while away. It is also reassuring to know that we have someone to rely on in the future.

Amber settled really well with Chloe. It was home from home. Chloe’s young family adored her and Amber was her usual laid back self. Would highly recommend Chloe and not hesitate to use again.

Jade looked after my dog for the first time last night. Our dog has separation anxiety and needs a sitter who can give him lots of attention, so he doesn't feel alone. Jade looked after him wonderfully, updating me frequently with photos. I wouldn't hesitate to book Jade again.

Qi and her husband were absolutely fantastic with my boy Archie. Qi was quick to contact me when he appeared to have a limp and was reluctant to go down the stairs but after letting her know that Archie was in fact putting on the limp for attention, she was put at ease. I left Archie with Qi on bonfire night and she was brilliant in comforting him with the loud noises. We had a few laughs about Archie's antics for attention and Qi sent some lovely pictures of Archie with herself and her husband. When I collected Archie, it was clear that he had been very happy with Qi and her husband and they expressed how much they had loved having him to stay. I will definitely ask Qi and her husband to have Archie again and they have asked to look after him again. Thankyou Qi I am so greatful to you and your husband.

This is the first time that I have required a dog sitter for my Cocker Spaniel -Freya . I was drawn to Eleanor’s advertisement because she loves dogs but does not at present have a dog and does not intend to have more than one dog in a sitting. I immediately knew that Freya would get a lot of love and attention. After our first pre- sit dog walk I knew I had struck gold. Eleanor not only understands dogs but dog owners too. By the time I went on holiday I was totally confident and at ease with the booking. Now that I have picked Freya up I am delighted to see the relationship they have and I can see that Freya has been happy and well cared for. To other dog owners I can’t recommend Eleanor highly enough.

Gus was included in the family and clearly had a great time. The texts and photos were lovely to have. Shelley and family couldn't have done more for us. We were welcomed even though traffic meant we were much later than planned. I think Gus is missing them so I hope we get to meet up for another stay. I would certainly recommend staying with them.

Dawn was so excellent with our nervous spaniel Sage during his first overnight stay with a dog sitter. Her home is set up as an absolute doggie heaven — it had plenty of nooks and crannies for him to feel safe in, and a lovely big fenced in yard to run around. She was very patient with him even when he was having a tough time overnight, and she sent us lots of photos to ensure we felt comfortable. I couldn’t recommend Dawn more highly, and will certainly work with her again anytime we need somewhere for Sage to stay. She has an excellent, safe, professional operation, and we felt very happy leaving our dog with her!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
