“Shadia saved my son's birthday when she agreed to look after my puppy on short notice after we were let down by our planned sitter. It was my first time leaving him and I was quite anxious, but there was no need - Apollo had a lovely day playing with the other dogs, and Shadia kept me updated regularly with pictures of all the fun! Would definitely recommend, and will book again if we're back in the area. Thank you!”

About: Hi, I’m Jiani, a passionate dog lover based in Southampton. As a proud owner of a miniature Dachshund, I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust to care for your pet like family. I have hands-on experience looking after dogs of different ages and personalities, from energetic puppies to older dogs who need a little extra patience and attention. I’m reliable, responsible, and organised in my day-to-day work, and I bring the same level of care and commitment when looking after pets. Whether your dog enjoys long walks, playtime, cuddles on the sofa, or simply keeping to their usual routine, I’ll make sure they feel safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. I can provide regular updates, photos, and messages for complete peace of mind, so you’ll always know how your furry friend is doing. I look forward to meeting you and your dog! Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. As a dog owner myself, I already structure my day around regular walks, feeding times, play, and companionship. My Dachshund, Robin, is a much-loved member of the family, so I understand the importance of consistency and attention to a dog’s physical and emotional needs. I work locally and have evenings, weekends, and school holidays available, allowing me to dedicate quality time to the pets in my care. Whether it’s walks, playtime, cuddles, or simply keeping your pet company, I’ll ensure they receive plenty of attention and care throughout the day. I am also happy to provide regular photo updates so you can see how your pet is getting on while you’re away. Your pet’s safety and wellbeing are my top priorities. I live in a clean, comfortable, and pet-friendly home where dogs can relax and feel secure. I take the time to learn each pet’s routine, needs, and personality to ensure they receive personalised care and attention. As a dog owner myself, I understand the trust involved in leaving your pet with someone else. I will treat your dog as if they were my own, providing plenty of supervision, affection, exercise, and a safe environment. I am happy to follow any specific instructions regarding feeding, medication, training, or routines to help your pet feel as comfortable as possible. For boarding and daycare services, I have a friendly Dachshund, Robin, at home. Meet-and-greets can be arranged beforehand to ensure all dogs are comfortable together. I will also provide regular updates and photos, giving you peace of mind while you’re away.
“Barley is a regular at Ananda’s and I couldn’t be more greatful for the care that she gives to him. She loves him like he is her own and always sends me updates (even when he is sleeping)! Thank you Ananda - couldn’t recommend enough! 🤩🥰”

“Wardah was looking after my 4 month old energetic puppy and she did a wonderful job. Puppy received lots of cuddles and played a lot as once we got home the puppy went straight to sleep lol. Wardah put my mind to ease as she sent photos and videos of their day. 10/10, couldn't recommend anyone better!!”

“Carmen and her lovely family have taken such lovely care of our puppy! We loved the photo updates! Hector always comes home relaxed and his usual happy cuddly self! Hector can't wait for his next visit :-)”

“Shannon and her sister helped us to look after Robin for one day, they did a great job and took Robin out multiple times, she had great fun! Instant reply, very kind and friendly, highly recommend! :)”

“Fantastic! Bertie was excited to go back which is always a good sign. Had no concerns or worries about Bertie whilst he was in her care. Teri was very prompt in replying to any messages and send updates about Bertie day.”

About: I have a strong love for animals and I understand the importance of making sure you have someone trust worthy to look after your furry friends as I understand how worrying this can be. Since I was young I have cared for my friends and families animals (both cats and dogs) and still continue to regularly. I currently work from home full time Monday to Friday with weekends off work so I have a lot of time to spend with your furry friends and look forward to having their company. I always abide by the owners rules (i.e. amount of walks/feeding times/ whether an animal doesn't like something/whether they need medication at a certain time) other than this, I will give your pet a lot of attention, play time and belly rubs (IF they like it!) :)
“We have no hesitation in recommending Neve: we were extremely pleased with the care and attention given to our greyhound, Molly, who thoroughly enjoyed her stay. We have already booked her next stay with Neve. Thank you! Molly, M & D.”

About: I’m new to Rover, but I’m not new to caring for dogs. I’ve had dogs in my life for 44 years and currently care for my own elderly dogs (Oscar (15) & Lucy (16)), both of whom have needed a lot of patience, routine and gentle handling as they’ve got older. Through them, I’ve gained real experience with senior dog care, sight loss, reduced hearing, medication routines, mobility issues, and understanding when a dog needs calm reassurance rather than too much fuss. I’ve also looked after puppies & dogs for friends and family, and I’m very comfortable following each dog’s normal routine closely. I know how important the little details are, from feeding times and medication to favourite blankies & toys, walking habits, nervous behaviours and the small things that help a dog feel calm and settled. I don’t think there’s anything quite like a dog. They are funny, loyal, gentle, soulful little creatures who somehow make the world feel better just by being in it. I genuinely believe dogs are one of the best things in life, and caring for them properly is something I take seriously. I work from home Monday to Friday and have a flexible schedule, so I’m around throughout the day for company, toilet breaks, feeding routines, walks and plenty of attention. I’m used to planning my day around dogs and their routines, including set meal times, medication needs, rest time and comfort. Walks can be fitted around my working day, including during my breaks or any walking meetings I have with my team. I am currently offering boarding in my own home, as my own dogs have a calm, steady routine and I’m always close by. I care for dogs in my own home, where I keep things calm, safe and settled. I have two elderly dogs myself, so my home is already built around a gentle routine, quiet care and close supervision. They mostly sleep now and are used to being around dogs from friends and family, including younger dogs, so the house is calm rather than busy. I’m very mindful of helping dogs feel comfortable, especially if they are older, nervous, have medical needs, or simply need a little time to settle in. I will always follow your instructions closely, including feeding routines, medication, walks, toilet breaks, sleeping arrangements and any house rules or quirks your dog may have. Every dog is different, so I’d want to understand what makes them feel safe and happy before they stay. Dogs in my care would have plenty of company throughout the day, as I work from home and am always around. They would not be left alone for long, usually no more than around 15 minutes if I needed to pop to the local shop.
“Secil looked after Bertie for a whole week during g the daytime. By the second day, Bertie got excited just getting in the car as he knew he was seeing Secil again. He loved every minute, Secil was very flexible for us with early starts and later pick ups. Thank you so very much for taking care of Bertie. We will definitely be back!!”

“I chose Sophie for a day care stay for our beloved Maia, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the moment we met them, they were welcoming and friendly. Maia was made to feel part of the family and enjoyed spending time with Sophie, her family, and their lovely dog Theo. It was reassuring to know she was in such a caring and safe environment while we were away. Sophie kept us updated throughout the day and when we picked Maia up, she was happy, relaxed, and clearly had a wonderful time. We would highly recommend Sophie and her family to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and attentive dog sitter. Thank you for taking such great care of Maia!”

“What wonderful family Karolina has Naturally bit nervous leaving coco for the first time , I didn’t need to worry Coco had an amazing time, came home one happy dog I would definitely recommend Karolina”

About: I have been a dog owner since childhood, some 40+ years. Dogs of all shapes and sizes. Ranging from a Jack Russell to a Great Dane. Having lost our Ellie some months ago, I have a huge hole to fill. Knowing how hard it is to find sitters that can give them the love and attention they need while their mummy's and daddy's are away. I can offer a loving, comfortable home where they will be the centre of attention with lots of cuddles on the sofa, playtime and walks. I have just given up my job to make dog sitting my main priority. So they will have company the whole time they are with us. I have a fully fenced medium size garden. They will have access to the whole downstairs during the day. And may sleep upstairs at night if they prefer. Lots of parks nearby for walks.
The median cost per day for doggy day care in Southampton is £27

we cannot recommend ananda enough! she took care of our sweet georgie, who is currently quite fearful with other people, and just allowed georgie to settle in her own time and space. we couldn’t thank her enough for all the updates and we were very reassured as puppy moms! thank you very very much 🩷

Sophie looked after my mum's dog, Monty, while we attended a family funeral. As Monty had never been left with anyone other than family before, we were naturally a little nervous. However, after an initial meet and greet with Sophie, we felt much more reassured. Sophie took photos, which showed just how settled and comfortable Monty was. This was especially reassuring given that it was one of the hottest days of the year. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sophie and would happily leave Monty in her care again.

Wardah and her partner were fantastic, it was our first time using Rover and they completely put our mind at ease, giving a nice run through of what they would do when I dropped Koda off. They took him out for two walks and gave many updates throughout the day, would use them again in a heartbeat.

sydney was able to accommodate and take care of our georgie very last minute! we have a longer booking with her later on in the year, and it was lovely to meet her prior to that. she was wonderful, provided updates, and we were so sure georgie was in good hands! thanks again sydney! we’ll see you in june :)

Minni had a lovely time with Caroline, she is an excellent dog sitter and clearly loves dogs. She treats any pets as if they were her own, our Border Terrier was very relaxed and well cared for while with Caroline, we would not hesitate in leaving her again. Thank you Caroline ❤

My black lab was very relaxed when I picked him up❤️. Martin met us a few days before the booking to get to know us, and was very happy to look after Stanley 😊. They went for a long walk and watched football together 😉. I'm really happy with Martin's approach and care😊.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later collection to match your Southampton commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust collection and drop-off times when needed.
Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:
- Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
- Your dog's lead and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
- Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
- Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
- Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalised care possible
Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
