I work from home Monday to Friday and have a flexible schedule, so I’m around throughout the day for company, toilet breaks, feeding routines, walks and plenty of attention. I’m used to planning my day around dogs and their routines, including set meal times, medication needs, rest time and comfort. Walks can be fitted around my working day, including during my breaks or any walking meetings I have with my team. I am currently offering boarding in my own home, as my own dogs have a calm, steady routine and I’m always close by.

I care for dogs in my own home, where I keep things calm, safe and settled. I have two elderly dogs myself, so my home is already built around a gentle routine, quiet care and close supervision. They mostly sleep now and are used to being around dogs from friends and family, including younger dogs, so the house is calm rather than busy. I’m very mindful of helping dogs feel comfortable, especially if they are older, nervous, have medical needs, or simply need a little time to settle in. I will always follow your instructions closely, including feeding routines, medication, walks, toilet breaks, sleeping arrangements and any house rules or quirks your dog may have. Every dog is different, so I’d want to understand what makes them feel safe and happy before they stay. Dogs in my care would have plenty of company throughout the day, as I work from home and am always around. They would not be left alone for long, usually no more than around 15 minutes if I needed to pop to the local shop.

Information Philip W. would like to know about your pet
You know your dog better than anyone, so I’ll always take your lead. I’d just like to know anything that helps your dog feel safe, happy and settled. I have two elderly dogs at home, so I’d also want to understand how your dog is around other dogs, just to make sure everyone feels calm and comfortable. I don’t have a breed preference. I care more about getting to know your dog properly and making sure it feels like the right fit for everyone.
A typical day
Because I work from home, any dogs would have plenty of company throughout the day, with regular toilet breaks, attention and reassurance. For dogs who enjoy walks, I’m happy to build in gentle walks, sniffy strolls, or playtime outside. I’m a big believer that walks don’t always need to be rushed. With my 2 oldies, a slow wander with lots of sniffing is exactly what they want. For more playful dogs, I’m happy to include games, toys, enrichment and plenty of fuss. For older or calmer dogs, the day can be slower and more relaxed, with quiet company, cuddles, naps and a calm environment. My priority is always that your dog feels safe, settled and cared for. Whether they want activity, affection, routine or just someone nearby while they snooze, I’ll adapt the day around what makes them happiest.

Pet care experience
I’m new to Rover, but I’m not new to caring for dogs. I’ve had dogs in my life for 44 years and currently care for my own elderly dogs (Oscar (15) & Lucy (16)), both of whom have needed a lot of patience, routine and gentle handling as they’ve got older. Through them, I’ve gained real experience with senior dog care, sight loss, reduced hearing, medication routines, mobility issues, and understanding when a dog needs calm reassurance rather than too much fuss. I’ve also looked after puppies & dogs for friends and family, and I’m very comfortable following each dog’s normal routine closely. I know how important the little details are, from feeding times and medication to favourite blankies & toys, walking habits, nervous behaviours and the small things that help a dog feel calm and settled. I don’t think there’s anything quite like a dog. They are funny, loyal, gentle, soulful little creatures who somehow make the world feel better just by being in it. I genuinely believe dogs are one of the best things in life, and caring for them properly is something I take seriously.
Reviews
Philip has given our 8 month old Spaniel, Olive, the most amazing week of love, care and attention! Leaving your dog with a stranger is daunting and we'd never left Olive before. It was a first for us and we couldn't have wished for a better person!!! Olive & I met Philip for a meet & greet, I knew immediately that he was perfect. His two Dachshunds are adorable and so well cared for. I thought Olive might be too lively for them, but they're so calm and weren't worried about her at all. I left feeling confident that Olive would be in safe hands. Philip is super responsive with messages. He put our mind at rest the first morning, sending pictures of Olive looking very much at home. Throughout the week we received regular messages, fantastic photos and videos. Olive was treated to some great trips out for brilliant walks and exercise - she looked so happy we didn't think she'd want to come home! We will definitely use Philip again and can't recommend him enough. You won't find a more able or caring person!
Philip is the most dog-friendly person I have EVER met. His love for dogs is unmatchable. He takes the greatest care, is always pleased to see them and specifically buys treats for my dog, who is a very sensitive eater! Despite Philip living a few miles from me, I know my dogs are well looked after, so it's worth the trip. I never worry when they are with Philip.
Philip is undoubtedly one of the best pet parents I have ever met. He cares for his own dogs with endless love and attention. Philip has also cared for my dog on many occasions. He treats my Murphy like his own. I would recommend Philip in a heartbeat.
Reference for Philip WILSON To Whom It May Concern, I am pleased to provide this reference for Philip Wilson, in support of his application for a dog sitting or pet care position in the south of England. I have personally entrusted him with the care of my dog, Rufus, on numerous occasions, including for extended periods whilst I was on holiday or police training courses (I am now a retired police detective). Rufus was an older dog who required patience, attentiveness, and a calm approach. Although affectionate by nature, he could be wary of unfamiliar people and was not always quick to form bonds. Philip's natural caring manner with animals quickly put Rufus at ease, and over time Rufus developed a strong affection, trust and bond with him. Throughout the time Philip cared for Rufus, he consistently demonstrated the qualities that are essential in professional pet care. He is reliable, responsible, patient, and highly attentive to an animal's individual needs. Often knowing what was required through an intangible affinity with the animal. Philip took the time to understand Rufus's routines, temperament, and requirements, ensuring that he remained comfortable, secure, and well cared for at all times. I felt confident in leaving my animal with him and had no reservations. What particularly impressed me was Philip's genuine affection for animals. He does not simply look after dogs; he builds a rapport with them and pays close attention to their wellbeing. His calm and reassuring presence was especially valuable with an older dog who required a little extra understanding and care especially since Rufus was not overly fond of other dogs. Philip is also trustworthy, conscientious, and an excellent communicator. I always felt completely confident leaving Rufus in his care, knowing that he would treat him with kindness, respect, and diligence. He approached every responsibility seriously and consistently demonstrated excellent judgement. He never once thought that he would use my animal as a "test" for some new fangled theory or went against my instructions. Based on my personal experience, I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Philip for any dog sitting, dog walking, or pet care role. I believe he possesses the character, reliability, and genuine love of animals that make him exceptionally well suited to this type of work. Any organisation or client who entrusts their pets to Philip will be fortunate to have him in my honest opinion. Should you require any further information, please feel free to contact me. Yours faithfully, Martin Wilson 07485253136
