“Excellent! Jacqueline and her husband are lovely. She is an excellent communicator. My dog had a great time, she was walked loads, fussed over, cuddled and cared for so well. Jacqueline’s home is beautiful, lovely garden, and lives near lots of open spaces for long walks. Really happy we met her and Duchess has a new Auntie!”

About: I love being outdoors and active, making me an ideal dogwalker. Though I have no dogs of my own, I love being around them and have provided ad hoc care services to friends and family when needed. I’m a freelance social media manager, making my working life flexible and freeing me to care for animals as well. Working remotely or in a coffee shop (dog friendly, of course!) means I have time and space free for boarding All cables and objects harmful to dogs are kept in containers off the ground and the house is kept generally tidy, avoiding the risk of choking hazards. I have a calm and quiet living space, making it ideal for all pets, especially those of a more timid or anxious nature
“Shadia saved my son's birthday when she agreed to look after my puppy on short notice after we were let down by our planned sitter. It was my first time leaving him and I was quite anxious, but there was no need - Apollo had a lovely day playing with the other dogs, and Shadia kept me updated regularly with pictures of all the fun! Would definitely recommend, and will book again if we're back in the area. Thank you!”

“Qi and her husband have been wonderful with my dog Stanley, very gentle and loving. They have taken him for walks, and he felt safe, I also have had a peace of mind when I worked.”

“A wonderful, calm and capable dog sitter with whom we are happy to leave our puppy. Lily clearly had a great time with Maria and her family. I already have other, longer, bookings with Maria and that in itself the highest possible recommendation I can give. Have no doubts at all - your dog will be loved and cared for.”

“Karen was very welcoming and accommodating for Harley. She made him feel at ease straight away and it looks like he had such a good time with Karen. I would definitely recommend Karen and if we return will definitely book Karen again. Thank you Karen for looking after Harley so well”

Minni had a lovely time with Caroline, she is an excellent dog sitter and clearly loves dogs. She treats any pets as if they were her own, our Border Terrier was very relaxed and well cared for while with Caroline, we would not hesitate in leaving her again. Thank you Caroline ❤

I cannot recommend Murali and his wife enough, Mia is an absolute calming superstar (with the young and boisterous) and their home is dog heaven! Pandora obviously enjoyed every moment from the gorgeous photos and videos. Thank you for putting my mind at rest (I was a nervous wreck!!), P will absolutely return 😊

My black lab was very relaxed when I picked him up❤️. Martin met us a few days before the booking to get to know us, and was very happy to look after Stanley 😊. They went for a long walk and watched football together 😉. I'm really happy with Martin's approach and care😊.

Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:
- Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
- Your dog's lead and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
- Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
- Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
- Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalised care possible
Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
