First time with Rover / Rachel M. So pleased our anxious pomeranian was able to be cared for in the familiar surroundings of his own home. The regular updates were reassuring. Would not hesitate to leave Harley in Rachel's care again.

So pleased with the service provided from Cherie today! The app is brilliant, I would say that after doing a long shift at work and leaving my house cat alone for that long always leaves me feeling uneasy but being new to the area, I couldn't ask anyone to just drop in. Trilby has been introduced to a new friend whilst I'm at work and its gone amazingly. The photo updates were very lovely and gave me piece of mind at work! Definitely worth doing again and has given me confidence to think re. Future plans about possibly having a house sitting booking 😊 thank you. She definitely got the attention that I would have expected. I have heard of some reviews where poeple go in and read a book whilst being paid....I was looking for more interaction with my house cat so I come home on a Monday evening with a less energetic kitty and that's what I had. 💕🤗 x

About: I have grown up surrounded by animals and have been caring for them as long as I can remember. I come from a farming background so have lots of experience with a variety of animals and taught me how to cater to their individual needs. I also have experience with both more elderly dogs and young pups which has allowed me to understand and provide care specialised to their needs. I am an active person who enjoys spending time outdoors so would ensure your animals get all the exercise and enrichment they need. Pet care fits easily into my weekly routine, as I am available from the afternoon onwards on weekdays and throughout the weekend. I am organised and reliable, ensuring I have plenty of time to provide each pet with the care, attention and companionship they need while following their usual routine as closely as possible. I understand that trust is essential when caring for someone else's pet and home. I will always follow your instructions carefully, maintain your pet's usual routine, and ensure they are safe, comfortable and well cared for. I will treat your home with respect, keep it secure, and provide regular updates for your peace of mind.

About: I’m a seasoned pet sitter with 4+ years of experience and a full house of my own. I’m confident in administering medication, including insulin, and I’ve worked with dogs and cats of all ages and breeds — from fluffy long-hairs that need regular grooming to independent farm or feral cats. I have a company called Woofs & Whiskers, which provides pet and house sitting, which allows me to offer a wide range of availability during weekdays, weekends and school holidays (day and night). To supplement this during quieter months, I work as a bank support worker for adults with learning disabilities and autism. Working on the bank (0 hour contract) allows me to prioritise my I know that leaving your pets and your home in someone else’s care takes a huge amount of trust. My aim is always to make things as familiar, calm and consistent as possible for your pets while you’re away, and to give you the reassurance that they’re being well cared for. Wherever possible, I will maintain your pet’s usual routine, including their normal feeding times, walks, bedtime routines and the little habits that help them feel secure. I’m happy to administer medication, follow specialist or prescribed diets, and work with any individual care instructions you provide. For dogs, I will initially stick to walking routes and areas they already know, rather than introducing unfamiliar places straight away. Once we’ve built a relationship and I understand their personality, behaviour and recall, we can agree whether exploring further afield or walking off lead is appropriate. Building trust and a positive relationship with your pets is really important to me. I’ll take things at their pace, particularly with pets who are nervous, anxious or simply need a little longer to decide whether I’m worthy of their approval! I’m equally respectful of the fact that I’m being trusted with your home as well as your pets. I will only use or enter the areas of your home that are necessary for their care and will always aim to leave your home exactly as I found it. While you’re away, I’ll maintain regular contact and updates, including photos and messages as agreed, so you know how everyone is getting on without having to wonder or chase for information. I am fully insured for pet sitting and am very happy to provide a copy of my insurance documentation for your reassurance. Most importantly, I want you to be able to go away knowing that your pets are safe, comfortable and cared for by someone who will treat them, their routines and your home with respect.

About: I grew up with animals of all sorts in Kenya, and have had various pets throughout my life: dogs, cats, rabbits, gerbils, tortoises, fish, and a giant snail. My last dog (boxer) was a family pet, which I trained from a puppy, and cared for until she grew old. My cats came to me as kittens and lived long happy lives with me. I've looked after friends' and neighbours' dogs, walking, playing with them, and having them overnight or for several days at a time. I have a large garden in rural Somerset - perfectly suited for dogs. I love all animals! I am a freelance artist, and work mainly from home. I can offer many hours of company in the daytime, and am always at home overnight. I wake early so the morning feed and walk is easily done. I have a large spacious fenced garden, in a rural village in Somerset. I keep pets downstairs to roam freely in the sitting room and kitchen. I can crate your pet if needed, when I go out.

About: Hi, I’m Elsie! I’m a huge animal lover with over two years of experience working as a receptionist in a busy veterinary practice. My role gave me a great understanding of pet health, behaviour and the importance of keeping animals calm, comfortable and well cared for and completed many courses to help develop my knowledge in these areas of animal care. It also confirmed that I wanted animals to remain a big part of my life! I have three pets of my own who mean the world to me, so I completely understand how important it is to find someone you can trust to care for your furry family member! I’ll always treat your pet with the same love, patience and attention that I give my own. I now work remotely, which gives me plenty of flexibility and means pets receive lots of company throughout the day rather than being left alone. I can help with dog walking, drop in visits, daycare or overnight care, I’ll follow your pet’s usual routine as closely as possible. During visits I can provide feeding, fresh water, toilet breaks, playtime, walks, plenty of fuss and regular photo updates, so you’ll always know how they’re getting on. Dog walks can be tailored to your pet’s age, energy levels and routine, whether they prefer a gentle 30 minute stroll or a longer adventure. Every pet has a different personality, and I’m happy to adapt my approach to suit them, whether they’re energetic, shy, senior or just need a little extra reassurance. Thanks to my veterinary background, I’m also confident recognising if something doesn’t seem quite right and would contact you immediately while seeking veterinary advice if needed. I’d love the opportunity to meet you and your pet and provide them with a safe, caring and happy home away from home. I work remotely from home, which gives me plenty of flexibility to fit pet care into my day. One of the things I missed most after leaving my role at a veterinary practice was being around animals, so pet sitting is the perfect way for me to continue doing something I genuinely love. Because I work from home, I can provide lots of companionship, regular toilet breaks, playtime, walks and plenty of attention throughout the day. I’m happy to work around your pet’s usual routine and can be flexible with drop off, pick up and visit times where possible. Your pet’s safety and happiness will always be my top priority. Having worked in a veterinary practice for over two years, I’m confident recognising when something isn’t quite right and know how important it is to stay calm and communicate with owners. I’ll always follow your pet’s routine, feeding schedule and any instructions carefully. I live in a clean, calm home and will make sure your pet feels comfortable, loved and well cared for. I’ll also keep you updated with regular messages and photos, so you can enjoy peace of mind while you’re away.

About: I started my Veterinary Nursing training when I was 18 years old and have not looked back since! I trained at an animal shelter practice and therefore have a good understanding of dogs with individual needs and temperaments. I have since qualified as an Emergency and Critical Care Nurse and now work as a Nursing Manager at a Large Veterinary Referral Hospital. I am certified in both Basic and Advanced Life Support/CPR and am happy administering all types of medications including injections. In addition to my extensive Veterinary experience I have also grown up with dogs and love to care and support them in all stages of their lives! I have been trusted by neighbours, friends, family and clients to look after their dogs before, even those with very advanced medical conditions and I am therefore comfortable caring for dogs that have a range of training and medical needs. I am passionate, fun and have a lot of love to give! If you have any questions please just get into contact and I will be happy to help! I understand trusting someone to look after your best friend and companion can be a lot, so if you want to talk things through with me regarding your pet’s individual needs, just let me know! 🐾 My schedule is currently very flexible, allowing me to provide attentive and consistent care throughout the day and adapt to your pet’s individual routine and needs. Whether your dog enjoys lots of walks and playtime, or your cat prefers a calm and relaxed environment, I can tailor my care to suit them perfectly. I am available during both weekdays and weekends and can often accommodate bespoke arrangements, medication schedules, and additional check-ins where needed. With my veterinary nursing background, I am confident caring for pets with a wide range of medical, behavioural, and emotional needs. I genuinely love spending quality time with animals, from long walks and enrichment for energetic dogs to cuddles, companionship, and gentle care for cats. My priority is always to make your pets feel safe, comfortable, loved, and well cared for while you are away 🐾 We live in a detached house in Cheddar. We have a secure fenced garden with grass and patio to suite your dog’s toileting habits! And also have direct access to public footpaths which take you onto stunning open fields.

About: I’ve worked in animal rescue so I’m very used to a wide variety of dogs, breed and size. Also worked with a variety of needs also. I have my own dogs. One since a pup who was challenging and then became reactive. She is doing amazing now! And I have a foreign rescue who posed many opposite challenges so I’m able to adapt to the dogs needs. I have ten years experience in the nhs but I’m looking at going into a career with dogs now. It’s my main passion. I’ve been told I’m very calm and patient with dogs which draws many dogs to me. I have attended all sorts of workshops and classes with my own dogs including: puppy/adolescent classes, trick training, parkour, scentwork, mantrailing, barnhunt, Canicross, paddle boarding, agility and hoopers to name a few. I try and include things I think your dog may enjoy on our walks. I have completed many online courses from canine first aid, canine body language and behaviour and dog walking. I have also spent a lot of time observing behaviourists, trainers, walkers, vets, vet nurses, hydrotherapists and physios to gain as much knowledge and experience as I can. I’m currently doing odd bits of work with dogs including training/behaviour work with supervision and hydrotherapy/physio assistant work. So my diary is currently very flexible. I know lots of local walks and I’m very used to finding quieter walks if that’s what a dog needs. I also know good busier areas for bits of dog training depending on the dogs requirements. I also live on private land with some secure fields so that is an option also.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mendip choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a key safe. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalised codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in a flat, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or lift etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.
