Huge thanks to Steve for taking such great care of our puppy, Rolex. When we got home, Rolex was happy, relaxed, and clearly very well looked after. Steve was calm, attentive, and provided truly top-class care. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter.

About: I've had dogs all my life including rescues and more difficult dogs. Happy to walk them, play with them or just chill with them if they need some company! Experienced in administering medicine. I have a car and I'm happy to take dogs on fun walks to parks for better exercise. I lost my golden retriever back in November. Not yet ready for a new dog, but I live with my brother who owns a Dacshund who I often walk and play with. I want to spend time with animals because i lovw to be around them, no matter the size or breed. I work full time Monday to Friday so have availability on evenings amd weekends Happy to follow any rules in place regarding diet, exercise, medecines etc. I've looked after difficult dogs before that can't be around many people so I understand dealing with different pet personalities. Big or small, I'm happy with any dog or cat.

Ieva stopped by for another bonding session with our "difficult" Rommie rescue Toni. She is wonderfully patient with him and understands his reactive behaviour is him being a terrified old boy because of his troubled history. She takes the time to learn his boundaries and is very good at asserting her boundaries too. Toni was even offering his paw and listening to her recall commands, and this was just the 2nd session of bonding. Long may this continue up until and beyond our vacation in June, where Ieva has provisionally agreed to house sit Toni and his cat sister Zora.

About: I've had dogs since I was 6 years old! I grew up with my childhood dogs Dexter and Sasha. They were the loves of my life, I loved walking them, teaching them tricks (although Dexter was rather stubborn and would only perform for cheese), playing with them and cuddling up on the sofa with them. Unfortunately, Dexter had some health issues as he got older: arthritis, hip pain, blindness in his left eye and deafness. I was very thorough with his care, I was up to date with his meds as well as his other needs, such as hip exercises, ear and eye cleaning etc. I also made sure during this time that Sasha was just as well taken care of and given enough attention. I also have helped friends and family with their dogs e.g. walking, pet sitting, feeding. I am currently working part-time at Morrisons on the weekend, so I have a lot of free time during the week. I am available after 2pm on weekends. I am able to easily crate your pet/s, follow whatever routine you may have with your pets (trust me I can handle picky dogs).

After our previous pet minding arrangement had fallen through, Anna was luckily available at short notice. We hadn’t used this kind of service before but we instantly felt at ease, Anna is very sweet and friendly and took time to get to know our 12 year old cat, Simmy. We got regular updates and pictures and felt so much more comfortable knowing she was in good hands. We would definitely book with Ana again! Thank you so much Ana! :)

About: I have had dogs as long as I can remember. I had the most beautiful Newfie up until two years ago. Currently I have an 14 year old Jack Russell who struggles to walk and can be looked after by the rest of my family if I am away. I have grown up with newfies, cats and Jack Russell’s. Always had at least one or two of each at a time. I am currently a mature student and my hobbies include studying in some lovely quiet surrounding while Also taking (well, until the last year or so as she’s not longer able) my dog on adventures up Mountains, beaches and to new place - her being unable to now is what is driving my need to do this for another dog. I am currently studying for a degree as a mature student of nearly 50 years old. My beautiful Jack Russell is 14 years old, deaf and going blind. We used to have adventures every day and I desperate miss that as she can no longer walk more than 20 minutes at a time anymore. She will stay home with husband and kids while I’m away. I would love to look after your dogs/cats and take them for walks or adventures or just cuddles or playing whatever they need or want. After all their needs are seen to I can concentrate on my studies and on my breaks can take them for comfort breaks or little walks for a change of scenery. I dot look after pets in my own home as my poor of Jack Russell is not an animal ‘person/dog’. I would never put her happiness at risk. I only look after pets in their own home (because that’s also where they feel more comfortable - especially when their loved ones are away). I happy to follow whatever schedule they’re used to or prefer. I’m happy to do king adventurous walks or smaller/shorter walks through the day.

Hannah made us feel so reassured our cat was safe and in good hands a followed our fussy food instructions perfectly. Our cat is normally timid around new people but took a liking to Hannah straight away and we know this because she only ‘boops’ strangers hands with her nose for scritches when she likes and trusts you. Hannah kept us updated with photos and videos and we could tell from our cats behaviour she was happy to see Hannah. We would highly recommend Hannah and will continue to book her in future.

About: Aside from having grown up with dogs, cats and horses, I have a huge passion for animals and would go as far as saying I prefer them over humans - Don't worry, I still love meeting new people, so I am sure we'd get on great :-) I have owned dogs for 15 years, trained all my dogs both in puppy school and at home and bred 2 beautiful healthy litters with my lovely Chorkie girl Bear. Hence, I would be more than happy to look after puppies and youngsters and continue any training you might have already started. I also have experience in dealing with difficult dogs and behavioral issues, so I'd be fully prepared to take on any cat or dog of any shape and size and care for them in a way that is suitable for their individual needs, whether that is extra care and distance from other dogs on walks, naughty habits at home or very bouncy fur babies! I do work out regularly and consider myself physically capable to look after strong and large dogs. My job as Marketing Director at a Software company enables me to work from home and I am therefore very flexible when it comes to arranging my video meetings around walk and play times, whether that is during boarding or visits. I do not smoke, have a recent clear DBS check, no criminal record and am more than happy to accept last-minute bookings, so just get in touch! I am working from home full time and will therefore be at home all day most days. My routine does include seeing my horse approx. 10 mins away from my horse, so your dog would never be alone longer than 2 hours at a time. I can be flexible with dogs that can not be left alone at all - Please just reach out and we can discuss! I have a large 4-bedroom detached house with a neighboring small yard, that I own. The yard is fully fence off, as is the garden area your dog will be able to roam around in freely. My property is located away from busy roads in a private small alley approx. 100m away from the nearest neighbor. I also own part of a private 2 acre field behind my yard, which is fully fenced and a great opportunity to walk your dog on their own, with absolutely no disruption or need to run into strangers or other dogs!

Tipsy loves her time with Ana, tipsy became comfortable with her very quickly, accepting fussies, treats and surprised us by going close to Ana! We would strongly recommend Ana, she had a good understanding of cats and their hilarious quirks, making sure to give Tipsy water by watering down a treat when it was noticed that Tipsy was not drinking.

Look for sitters who highlight multi-pet expertise or check for verified reviews from other Newport pet parents with similar pet households.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Newport choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a key safe. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalised codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in a flat, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or lift etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s booking protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
