Both my partner and I work from home, so there is almost always someone at home during the day. This means dogs are rarely left alone and can settle into a calm, consistent routine with plenty of supervision and reassurance. I structure care around quiet, one-to-one walks and predictable routines, which works particularly well for dogs who are anxious, sensitive, or reactive. I’m happy to discuss individual needs, routines, and triggers to make sure each dog feels safe and supported.

Safety, trust & environment

My home is calm, spacious, and set up with dogs’ comfort and safety in mind. There’s a large, secure fenced garden for supervised outdoor time, and dogs are treated as part of the family — welcome in all the spaces we use so they’re never isolated or shut away. Safety and trust are central to how I care for dogs. I only take dogs I’m confident I can safely support, and care is always one-to-one or from the same household. Routines, boundaries, and handling are tailored to each dog, particularly those who may be anxious or reactive. I have two dog-savvy children who understand how to give dogs space and respect their signals, and all interactions are supervised. My aim is to provide a calm, predictable environment where dogs feel secure, understood, and genuinely at home.

Information Amy W. would like to know about your pet

It’s important to me that every dog feels safe, relaxed, and truly at home while in my care. I provide one-to-one care and only accept small breeds, with a maximum of two dogs from the same household, so each dog gets my full attention. I believe the best care comes from building trust, so I take time to get to know each dog and their routine before and during their stay. My aim is always to offer a calm, home-from-home experience where dogs can settle in, feel secure, and be treated as part of the family. For first-time bookings, a meet and greet is mandatory to ensure the stay is a good fit for everyone.

A typical day

A typical day is calm, predictable, and centred around the dog’s routine. Mornings usually start with a quiet one-to-one walk or garden time, followed by settling indoors where dogs can relax near us while we work from home. Throughout the day there are regular check-ins, play or enrichment at the dog’s pace, and plenty of rest. Walks are always planned for quieter times of day and are tailored to each dog’s needs. Evenings are relaxed, with another walk or garden time, dinner, and time to unwind as part of the household. Dogs are rarely left alone and are cared for with close supervision and lots of reassurance.

Licensed, caring, reliable one-to-one doggy care

Pet care experience

Fully licensed with Newport City Council. I’ll provide calm, one-to-one care for dogs who need patience, routine, and understanding. My approach is shaped by years of living with a high-needs, reactive dog, so I’m comfortable supporting dogs who may be anxious, sensitive, or overwhelmed in busy environments. I focus on low-stress walks, consistent routines, and building trust at each dog’s pace. I’m reliable, attentive, and always put safety and wellbeing first. I’m happy to work closely with owners to make sure their dog feels secure and cared for. I absolutely adore dogs, and we’re excited to open our home to some canine companions!

Dougie stayed with Amy and her family for a week in May whilst we were abroad. Amy arranged a meet and greet to help Dougie get to know their family and took great care of him whilst we were away. Would 100% use Amy again and highly recommend!

I was a bit worried about leaving Myloe but he seemed at home at the meet and greet and when we dropped him off. Judging by the photos he seemed to enjoy himself especially with the children. However as Myloe is quite sensitive he did stress as he rarely away from at least one of us and had several accidents. Full marks to Amy who took everything in her stride and let us know how things were going. Thanks Amy for looking after him, trying to destress him and what probably felt like endless mopping up. Myloe came back happy from his holiday and we felt reassured he was being looked after well

Amazing experience for our little man scout, absolutely a home away from home we couldn't of asked for a nicer family to look after him. 😀🥰

Amy took great care of Ralph. She is always quick with communications, keeping me regularly updated on how he was doing whilst in her care, provided him a welcoming and cosy 'home-from-home' and took him on some fantastic walks - he came home happy and very content. Ralph can be a bit of a handful at times, which always makes me a little nervous leaving him with others, but Amy is very reassuring and clearly has a love of dogs putting things in place to accommodate his quirks - his wagging tail whenever he sees her says it all. I highly recommend.
