We kept our 4 legged baby with Liz while we went to Butlins. It was very short notice, and she was very kind to accept to keep him. Neo was well looked after and we got updates from Liz. Thank you so much Liz. Will definitely ask her in future needs. Xx

Tilly has had a wonderful time staying with Jenny for our 2 week holiday. Jenny sent us a photo every morning to let us know what fun they were having :) We wouldn't hesitate to book Jenny for any future holidays. Tilly has come home very happy and content as if we were never away.

About: I'm in my forties and I've taken care of many pets throughout my entire life ranging from cats, dogs, ferrets, rats and more. I walk dogs for friends and neighbors regularly and love them like my own. As I'm not working at the moment I'm able to take and walk pets all week, even in the late evenings. I'd be available from around 8-9am to 11pm. I'm capable to take care of medicated pets by giving medication or even providing first aid. I have experience in grooming and bathing dogs. Energetic and high maintenance dogs are also welcome as I have experience and am happy to walk far and spend hours with them at the park. I prefer to keep dogs on leash when walking them to avoid any risks.

Sonny was with Josh and Julie for 4 days, during that time we were kept up to date with photos and videos. Sonny had a wonderful time and I’m pretty sure didn’t want to come back with me in the end! We will definitely be using Josh and Julie again for our next holiday. Thank you so much for caring for him so well, we didn’t worry once while he was with you both. It truly was a home from home for him. Sonny also recently had spinal surgery, although recovered now, they were very considerate when it came to Sonny’s extra needs.

My puppy stayed with Victoria for 2 days and 1 night, I was really impressed with Victoria's communication, I had regular updates on how my puppy was doing with photos as well. I felt completely at ease knowing she was doing a good job of looking after him. I Would definitely book Victoria again.

Paddy had the most wonderful time. Shelagh and Pete gave him the best holiday - lots of cuddles and plenty of fun running in their field with their dog Spike. We couldn’t have asked for more. When we picked him up he seemed completely at home so we wouldn’t hesitate to book him in for another stay. Very grateful for all of Shelagh’s care and attention.

Helen was fab with my dog Dora and I didn’t have to worry about her at all while we were away. We got regular updates with photos and Dora was kept busy and happy. Dora is on a couple of medications and these were all administered with no problem. Would definitely book again and highly recommend.

Elly was super accommodating and agreed to look after our two dogs for the first time at short notice. She took great care of them, kept us updated with pictures while we were away and they came home super chilled and relaxed (which is unheard of!). Would definitely recommend Elly and plan to use her again.

What could be better than leaving your dog with a vet? Leaving your dog with two vets. Lovely, friendly, hospitable couple, both qualified vets. They looked after my large, energetic lurcher with great care and affection. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

Macy was absolutely fantastic with our french bulldog, Bella, while we were away on holiday for six nights. From the moment Bella stayed with her, it was clear how much love, care and attention Macy puts into looking after dogs, and we were so grateful for how warmly she welcomed Bella into her day-to-day family life rather than just “watching” her. She spent time playing with Bella, made sure she felt included and comfortable, and it was obvious that Bella was being treated like one of the family. We also really appreciated the daily updates, which gave us real peace of mind while we were away and showed just how happy and settled Bella was. Macy is kind, caring, thoughtful and clearly loves dogs, and we would not hesitate for a second to recommend her to anyone looking for a genuinely wonderful dog sitter. Thank you Macy for doing such a good job x

Jo and buddy were amazing from the first meeting I knew that my dog louie would be more than fine as they were so kind and welcoming. I did not have one worry leaving him with Jo, my only thought was that he would not want to come home after! Louie had the best holiday with Jo and buddy and I can't thank them enough. Would 100% recommend Jo to anyone as it was home from home for my dog Louie ( actually better than being at home I think!) Thanks again you really did put our minds at rest from the first meeting and kept us updated throughout his stay. Louie misses you both already:)

This was the first time I had used Rover for my one year old (very small) Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and Ed and Jan were fantastic. They immediately gave me peace of mind and looked after Fudge really well - in fact, they spoilt her so I am sure she will be keen to go there again!! I would not hesitate in recommending Jan and Ed, and can't thank them enough for looking after Fudge so well.

Quentin and Iris were amazing with Dillon, our bouncy cockapoo. Great communication throughout and real confidence that he was being very well cared for. He was having his own holiday whilst we were away. I'd be very happy for Dillon to stay with this family any time, thank you so much.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
