“Sonny was with Josh and Julie for 4 days, during that time we were kept up to date with photos and videos. Sonny had a wonderful time and I’m pretty sure didn’t want to come back with me in the end! We will definitely be using Josh and Julie again for our next holiday. Thank you so much for caring for him so well, we didn’t worry once while he was with you both. It truly was a home from home for him. Sonny also recently had spinal surgery, although recovered now, they were very considerate when it came to Sonny’s extra needs.”

“Victoria was great, really friendly and happy to see our pup! She is clearly knowledgable and capable, Roxy had a lovely time in her care and enjoyed making friends with Lalinha too!”

“Helen was fab with my dog Dora and I didn’t have to worry about her at all while we were away. We got regular updates with photos and Dora was kept busy and happy. Dora is on a couple of medications and these were all administered with no problem. Would definitely book again and highly recommend.”

“Moose absolutely loved staying with Laura and Otto, he was very well looked after and had a great time playing, going on walks and cuddling! Received lots of wonderful videos of how happy he was all weekend. Couldn’t recommend Laura more!”

“We couldn't be happier with the care our dog, Bramble, received while we were away on holiday! From the moment I dropped her off, I felt completely at ease knowing she was in such capable and loving hands and that she’d have a playmate, gorgeous Buddy to hang out with too!! It was clear right away that Jo truly cares about the animals she looks after. Bramble was given plenty of attention, walks, playtime, and cuddles. We received updates on how she was doing with photos, which really put our minds at ease and let us enjoy our trip without any worry. When we returned, Bramble was relaxed and happy. It honestly felt more like she had a little holiday of her own! Would 100% recommend Jo to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter, and will definitely be booking again in the future. Thank you so much 😊”

About: I have had dogs my whole life and frequently look after friend’s and family dogs. I love long walks and making sure that the dogs get sufficient exercise. 🐶💫 I am offering dog care at weekends only, as this is when I am not working and can give the dog all of the attention they deserve 💓 We have a fenced back garden for the dogs to play in and locally live near lots of great places walks with open spaces for them to run free.
“I could tell Izzy had a wonderful time with Rachel as she returned a happy dog and, I am ashamed to say, much cleaner and better groomed than when we left her! Thank you for looking after her so well and for sending the pictures and videos. If I have to go away again I will certainly hope Rachel can take her again.”

About: I have a beautiful Labradoodle named Otto and have been caring for dogs since I was young. I work from home Wednesday through Friday, and with a spacious, secure garden, my home is the perfect environment for pets to feel comfortable and cared for. I work from home Wednesday to Friday and manage my own schedule, which allows me to be highly flexible and available to help whenever needed. I have a beautiful big garden that’s safe and secure which is perfect for lots of time in the garden. I also have a tiled porch, which is great for the hotter days.
“Gary had a lovely time with Bronte, Sam and Teo. Would definitely recommend. We had lots of pictures and updates and they made us very comfortable leaving him knowing he would be well looked after.”

“Very attentive! Abraham didn’t want to come home and we had to pull him out! Lots of updates and very quick communication. Would definitely book again, thank you so much for caring for him and keeping our minds at ease whilst away 😊”

“If there was a higher rating then Macy would definitely deserve it. Her and her whole family welcomed Jax into their home and were totally amazing. Macy kept us updated regularly with messages and videos. Jax is a young large Doberman with ongoing training for recall and reactivity to other dogs, ao not an easy boy to look after, but Macy went above and beyond expectations Thanks”

“Tilly has had a wonderful time staying with Jenny for our 2 week holiday. Jenny sent us a photo every morning to let us know what fun they were having :) We wouldn't hesitate to book Jenny for any future holidays. Tilly has come home very happy and content as if we were never away.”

“This was our first time using Rover as our usual house sitter was not available and was unsure whether this way would be suitable or not. The first person we saw on here was Barbara who instantly felt would be a good match for our little Bertie and had high hopes. When Barbara invited us to come and meet her any hesitancy instantly disappeared and definitely had no concerns about leaving him. You just know when someone is a doggy person or not and could just sense any dog left in Barbara’s care would certainly be well looked after. When collecting him yesterday, I felt he enjoyed himself that much that he didn’t want to leave. I am so happy that Bertie has had a great stay and been very well looked after and have no doubts at all that Barbara is the perfect person to look after our Bertie. Just looking at dates when he can stay again and the only downside to all these good reviews is she will get booked up even quicker!”

About: I have worked in a boarding and rescue kennels for the last five years, where I have been responsible for administering medication, working with nervous and dogs with more behavioural challenges. I have fostered dogs and cats with physical disabilities, as well as young animals that should not be in a kennel environment. I have made sure hundreds of dogs needs have been met during their stay at the kennels. I have also had experience dog sitting over a number of years for family and friends, living in their houses and maintaining the property as well as ensuring their animals get the best possible care. Since I was a young child and have always absolutely adored all my pets and every animal. I have grown up near/on a farm in the West Country so no stranger to all kinds of animals. I have looked after two large dogs (Dalmatian and German shepherd) whilst my family have been away for weeks at a time, walking both at the same time and making sure they are well loved and cuddled. I thoroughly enjoy long walks and don’t mind a bit of rain or mud- as long as the dogs enjoy themselves and burn off lots of energy! I feel I have a calming presence and I do not mind the dogs that need that extra time and patience for me to trust them. Everything will be done with the dog in mind and on the dogs terms, and I truly believe that every dog should be treated and respected as an individual with individual wants and needs. I am currently still working at the kennels and cattery, so I am happy to cater on my days off, evenings or every other weekend. I have a dog and a cat of my own to care for, as well as a toddler! I have a lovely little rescue dog that is my shadow. He’s been with me for 3 years and he’s fully dog, cat, human and baby tested! However, I understand not all dogs enjoy other dogs company. Therefore I would be happy to come to your dogs environment and be with your animals there where they feel safe and relaxed. I have DBS checks and various different testimonials if needed.

About: My family have always had dogs whilst I was growing up, that I helped take care of. I now have a dog of my own and she is my best friend. I enjoy caring for her like she is my baby and extend my love and care for my animals to every animal I am always committed to providing the best care as shown through my 2 babies and I always have time to extend that care to any other animal. I have a fenced in garden with a very friendly and playful dog who will keep your pets company (if they’re also dog friendly).
“We all took to Freya straightaway. She’s just lovely with both humans and dogs. Sid was very comfortable with her and Lottie her cute Pomeranian. He came back a very happy but tired dog. Sid can pull at the start of a walk when he's very excited but Freya took this in her stride and she spoiled him rotten. We will definitely be asking Freya again.”

“I couldn’t have asked for more from Jan and Ed. They were brilliant with our anxious lab and when I collected her, I could tell she had had a fab time and was totally at ease in their company. I received lots of updates and was able to relax knowing she was happy. I am so pleased to have found them!”

We left our lab and golden retriever with Josh and Julie for nearly 2 weeks and they were so well cared for (especially during an episode of ill health requiring a trip to the vets). We cannot fault the care they provided and our boys were very happy and content. Experienced and well trusted carers and would absolutely ask them to have our boys again ☺️

It was our precious Persephone's first time away from us for more than one night so it was vital that we found the right person to look after her. After meeting Victoria it was clear that we had found the right person. She asked us all the right questions and it was clear that she knew exactly how to make our girl comfortable. This meant that we were able to leave her and not worry while we were at a festival. When we returned to pick Persephone up she'd had a great time and Victoria told us all about everything she had got up to. We would definitely consider leaving Persephone with Victoria again with the knowledge that she would be well looked after.

We could not have asked for a more professional, friendly and experienced sitter for our dog. Communications and expectations were clear and openly discussed. Helen has plenty of outdoor space as well as indoor space for larger, more energetic dogs. I could not recommend her more highly.

I could tell Izzy had a wonderful time with Rachel as she returned a happy dog and, I am ashamed to say, much cleaner and better groomed than when we left her! Thank you for looking after her so well and for sending the pictures and videos. If I have to go away again I will certainly hope Rachel can take her again.

A big thank you to Jo and Buddy they really looked after Buster and it was definitely home from home service. It was comforting to know that Buster was being looked after and cared for as was his usual routine and it sounded like he had a great time with Buddy. I'm sure he will miss them both. Thanks again Jo. X

Quentin and Iris were amazing with Dillon, our bouncy cockapoo. Great communication throughout and real confidence that he was being very well cared for. He was having his own holiday whilst we were away. I'd be very happy for Dillon to stay with this family any time, thank you so much.

We left Rex with Joel while we attended a wedding, and we couldn't be happier with the care he received. Rex is a large rescue dog, so finding someone who understands his needs is incredibly important to us. They were fantastic—attentive, calm, and shared some pictures. It gave us total peace of mind knowing Rex was in safe hands while we were away. We will definitely be booking again. Highly recommended!

Bailey was well looked after and he got on well with her lovely dogs and had fun playing and wearing each other out! I had regular updates and photos from Holly and I felt assured he was well cared for and that I didn’t need to worry. Highly recommended. Thank you H&J

Ashleigh was a superstar. She went above and beyond for Winston. She not only cared for him at a high standard, she went thar extra Mile and played stimulating sniff games with Winston with rewards of chicken and even took the time to do some sit/stay training with him. I could not recommend Ashleigh enough and we will definitely be rebooking in the future. 5 stars is not enough. If I could give 10 I would

You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
