Josh and Julie are always so reliable with great communication. I know that Nova has no issues with staying overnight with them, in fact I think she considers them as her ‘other family’. We don’t hesitate to book with them

We couldn't be happier with the care our dog, Bramble, received while we were away on holiday! From the moment I dropped her off, I felt completely at ease knowing she was in such capable and loving hands and that she’d have a playmate, gorgeous Buddy to hang out with too!! It was clear right away that Jo truly cares about the animals she looks after. Bramble was given plenty of attention, walks, playtime, and cuddles. We received updates on how she was doing with photos, which really put our minds at ease and let us enjoy our trip without any worry. When we returned, Bramble was relaxed and happy. It honestly felt more like she had a little holiday of her own! Would 100% recommend Jo to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter, and will definitely be booking again in the future. Thank you so much 😊

Laura and Fraser were fantastic with Rufus. We met them before Rufus stayed at theirs, and we could see straight away how comfortable and confident they were with him. Communication was regular and informative and gave us great peace of mind during his stay. Have already booked his next 'holiday'! Highly recommended.

About: Hi there! My name is Rachel, I’m a 29 year old working professional based in Taunton and I live with my partner in a fully detached house with a large secure enclosed garden, giving dogs plenty of safe space to play and explore. I’ve grown up around both cats and dogs all my life, and featured in my photo is our family dog Coco, a mini Pomeranian who I absolutely adore. I regularly dog sit for friends over weekends and love taking their dogs out for walks and adventures in the countryside. I enjoy being outdoors and discovering new walking spots, so your dog will get lots of exercise, attention and companionship. I work from home on Mondays, meaning I’m around throughout the day for walks, toilet breaks, feeding and company. Although we don’t currently have pets living with us, our home is very pet friendly and calm, making it a great environment for dogs to feel comfortable and relaxed. I’m available on weekends and love spending time outdoors on long walks and adventures with dogs. Most of my friends have dogs and I love going for Saturday morning coffee and dog walks with them. I also work from home on Mondays, so I’m around all day for walks, feeding, toilet breaks and plenty of company. Your dog will get lots of attention, playtime and care throughout their stay! Your dog will be cared for in a calm, loving home with a large secure enclosed garden where they can safely play and explore. I currently don’t have pets, so your dog will have plenty of space and attention. I always make sure dogs are well looked after, exercised, comfortable and treated like part of the family!

About: I recently retired from a 20 year career in the Army before settling back in Taunton with my husband Dave and our 3 children. With excellent communication and organisational skills your bookings and questions are promptly answered and reliable. I am very personable and you will find a friendly and professional welcome. Having always had dogs in my life, I have experience with young puppies, boisterous energetic breeds, shy, nervous and reserved rescues and elderly slower dogs. I have cared for dogs throughout my career and more recently in my home for family and friends on a casual basis. I am now turning this experience into a more professional offering. I have upskilled my experience recently with an up to date hands on Dog First Aid Course and Diplomas in Pet Sitting and Dog Walking, Animal Psychology, Introduction to Animal Care Certificate and Introduction to Kennel Management Certification. I am also doing an Introduction to Dog Training, Canine Communication, Pet Nutrition and Grooming courses. Me and Dave both work from home with me having a completely flexible schedule and uninterrupted time to focus on Luna and any of her guest doggy friends. Our home is open to dogs who want constant company, a willing playmate, familiar household surroundings, family activity and above all loving attention. The entire downstairs is open to explore, a large family garden and our own secure paddock with lots of land to investigate. If the facilities at home aren’t sufficient for your dog’s energy we are spoilt for choice by some excellent open countryside, woodland, river, Quantock hills, beaches and green space walks. I am insured and 1st Aid trained.

About: I have 30+ years experience with dogs due to always having dogs in the family. I have trained dogs and family and friends have used me to care for their dogs whilst away or working and their pups needing a check in or a sleepover at mine to take off pressured. I have experience with anxious dogs and also working dogs. I am a calm and friendly person and will love all dogs like they are my own I work full time but with flexibility to work from home, I am available weekends and can do week days dependant on whether your dog can be left for a few hours if I work in the office for a few hours. I tend to walk my dogs twice a day for 1 hour each walk, this can be adapted to suit your dogs needs. I have a fenced garden, 2 friendly dogs to keep your dog company, can work from home all day if required. If your dog is better with no other dogs around, I have a set up that my 2 dogs can go to my parents house whilst your dog boards, however I do have a cat also. Lots of toys for play and cuddles for comfort when required.

Macy was absolutely fantastic with our french bulldog, Bella, while we were away on holiday for six nights. From the moment Bella stayed with her, it was clear how much love, care and attention Macy puts into looking after dogs, and we were so grateful for how warmly she welcomed Bella into her day-to-day family life rather than just “watching” her. She spent time playing with Bella, made sure she felt included and comfortable, and it was obvious that Bella was being treated like one of the family. We also really appreciated the daily updates, which gave us real peace of mind while we were away and showed just how happy and settled Bella was. Macy is kind, caring, thoughtful and clearly loves dogs, and we would not hesitate for a second to recommend her to anyone looking for a genuinely wonderful dog sitter. Thank you Macy for doing such a good job x

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A+++ Oscar had the most amazing stay with Zoe, Jack, Arthur, and their lovely dog Jett! Our Labrador went on a proper adventure — lots of beautiful countryside walks and even a fun swimming trip, which he absolutely loved. The location was perfect, and their large, secure garden gave Oscar plenty of safe space to explore and play. He received excellent care the entire time and came home a very happy boy. We will definitely be rebooking with Zoe. Highly recommended!

My dog Dolly stayed with Laura last night, and overall it was a good experience. She seemed happy and well looked after when I picked her up. Communication was great, and I got a couple of updates while she was there, which was really nice and reassuring. The place seemed safe and Dolly settled in quite quickly. I feel it went smoothly and I’d be happy to use her again in the future.

Boris stayed with Quentin and his family for 10 nights, while we were out of the country. It was obvious that they are a dog loving family and they took excellent care of him. Because the weather was so hot they took the initiative by making his walks early in the morning and late in the evening which we were grateful for. We got regular photos showing he was being well cared for ,having fun and we could see that he was happy. I would not hesitate in asking them to take care of Boris again. Thank you so much!

We left Rex with Joel while we attended a wedding, and we couldn't be happier with the care he received. Rex is a large rescue dog, so finding someone who understands his needs is incredibly important to us. They were fantastic—attentive, calm, and shared some pictures. Ashleigh was a superstar. She went above and beyond for Winston. Fantastic couple who I cannot recommend highly enough. I left my two large dogs with them while I was away and the care they gave them was wonderful. Despite my dogs being very grumpy at times, Amy took them for multiple walks and handled them with complete professionalism and empathy. She even gave them a brush ❤️ Amy and her partner were very friendly, welcoming, and are clearly very knowledgeable. My two had a wonderful time. Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
