“Nick and family were amazing at taking care of our dog, who loves walks and being with people. We were very grateful for the photos and updates when we were away. When we came to collect Zig, he was clearly very happy and had been treated like part of the family. I would wholeheartedly recommend Nick and his family and hope Zig can come for a stay again in the future. Thank you so much for taking such good care of him.”

“Cherie went put of her way to make Mitsu comfortable in her house, sleeping in front of the fire, & when the bit of chicken I had left her in addition to her normal food, as she wasn't eating very well Cherie supplied her with some more. Above and beyond expectation. Thank you”

“Flynn had a lovely time with Kerry and Wesley. Kerry was lovely with Flynn and he settled straight in. Regular updates and photos were appreciated. Would recommend Kerry 100% and we will book again.”

“We met Victoria for a meet and greet before booking Piggy in for a half day stay. Victoria has a lovely warm home with an enclosed garden. We had a good conversation about Piggy and her personality, as Piggy is an older dog and has poor eyesight and does not need very long walks. Victoria has experience especially with older pugs so we felt very secure in booking Victoria. She is extremely trustworthy, mature and professional and I would not hesitate to recommend her.”

“Very friendly and looked after our Percy very well. Lots of contact and pictures while we were away. The property lends itself to having dogs stay with a field for walks nearby.”

“Felt 100% confident leaving my dog with Sarah. She listened to everything we said, was super-friendly, and kindly sent photos of Sydney having a great time. Highly recommend!”

About: Hi, I'm a dedicated dog lover who works from home, which means your pet will enjoy plenty of company, attention, and supervision throughout the day. I share my home with two friendly Labrador Retrievers who love making new canine friends, as well as a calm rescue cat who is used to living alongside dogs. I also have a responsible 17-year-old daughter who adores animals and helps create a warm, welcoming environment for every pet that stays with us. Because I work from home, I can maintain your dog's usual routine, provide regular walks, playtime, cuddles, and plenty of toilet breaks. I understand that every dog is unique, and I'm happy to accommodate individual needs, whether that's extra exercise, medication, or simply lots of affection and reassurance. My goal is to make your dog feel safe, happy, and part of the family while you're away, giving you complete peace of mind. I look forward to meeting you and your furry friend! **What to Expect During Your Dog's Stay** As I work from home, your dog will have company and supervision throughout most of the day. **Morning** * Morning toilet break and walk * Breakfast (following your dog's usual routine) * Playtime, enrichment, and plenty of attention **Daytime** * Relaxing with me while I work from home * Regular garden breaks and opportunities to stretch their legs * Playtime with my two friendly Labradors if your dog enjoys canine company * Quiet rest periods for naps and relaxation **Afternoon & Evening** * Another walk tailored to your dog's age and energy levels * Dinner according to their normal schedule * Family time, cuddles, and settling down for the evening I aim to keep your dog's routine as close as possible to what they're used to at home. I'll also send regular updates and photos so you can see how they're getting on and enjoy peace of mind while you're away. **Safety, Trust & Environment** Creating a safe, happy, and stress-free environment is at the heart of the care I provide. As I work from home, pets are rarely left alone and receive plenty of attention, supervision, and companionship throughout the day. My home is shared with two friendly Labradors and a rescue cat who are both accustomed to living alongside other animals. I take time to introduce pets carefully and ensure everyone feels comfortable and secure. There are quiet spaces available for dogs who prefer their own area to rest and relax. Before every stay, I like to learn about your pet's routine, personality, likes and dislikes, medical needs, and any behavioural quirks so I can provide care tailored to them. I follow owners' instructions closely, including feeding schedules, exercise requirements, medication, and sleeping arrangements. For dogs staying in my home, they will enjoy regular walks, garden breaks, playtime, enrichment activities, and lots of affection. As someone who works from home, I can maintain a consistent routine and provide frequent updates and photos for your peace of mind. When caring for pets in an owner's home, I treat both the pet and the property with the utmost respect. I aim to keep your pet's routine as normal as possible, ensuring they feel safe and comfortable in their familiar surroundings while you're away. My goal is always to provide a genuine home-from-home experience where pets feel loved, secure, and part of the family.

About: I’ve given dogs a happy place to be while their families are busy for years now, looking after family and friends dogs during the week. As I work from home i’m able to provide regular breaks and walks but also find lots of time to play or cuddle! My friends rely on me to keep their dogs fed, safe and happy and i’m always their first choice of day care now! My partner Steve works from home part of the week so is also around for looking after and entertaining your dogs during the days. I’ve got experience with nervous, needy dogs to very chilled relaxed dogs (and everything in between)! Weekdays my boyfriend and I work from home, so my day looks like a morning walk, then flexible during the day to do what the dog needs, and free in the evenings if longer care is needed. We’re available for boarding weekdays and some weekends but notice is needed! We have a completely secure, fenced garden in a quiet safe neighbourhood. Dogs are allowed in any room in the house but will follow your guidance too on their rules. They’ll be allowed upstairs and on furniture, and will be given our full attention all day/evening!
“Yves and nick are wonderfully sitters. Daisy gets more and more excited to see them at each stay with them. She loves them and is always so well looked after. I never have to worry about her when she is with them and they always keep me updated on how she is doing with messages or videos. Daisy will be looking forward to another visit with them soon in the new year.”

“As I come away from meeting with them, I just knew that Murphy would be in great hands. They were just lovely which made me feel comfortable. Murphy had a wonderful stay and they looked after him like he was there own. I really didn't want to do this review because I want them for myself! Excellent!”

About: I’ve grown up with dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rats and hamsters! I’ve had 24 years experience with these gorgeous animals and I’m very passionate about patient and loving animal care. I am a a medical professional in the military. I pet sit over my extensive leave periods. I’m very adaptable and efficient with instructions, and actively prepared to fit my routines around my pet sitting so your pet has the best time! My own Cavapoo Mabel is very gentle and fun. She is crate trained and is very friendly towards all animals and people. She can however be separated from animals I pet sit depending on the owner’s preferences.
“Once again Darran looked after Crosby brilliantly! Lovely to have Darren’s gorgeous pug, Frank, for him to learn his puppy manners from too. Couldn’t recommend the friendly home from home more!”

“Zipi was so happy with Angela, she sent photos of his adventures having wonderful walks at new locations and enjoyed the company of Angela’s own dogs, would recommend her to anyone!!!”

About: Dogs have been a part of my life for decades now, particularly JRTs! We have two: Monty (5) and Meadow (4) who can be loud, but are super friendly and gentle. I work from home so long walks at some of Devon’s best spots daily! :) Our days start early with our first walk around 6 am! Our longest walk/trip usually takes place around midday (2 hours +). Our third and final walk is a shorter one in the evening around 7 pm. I work from home so spend a lot of time with our dogs every day! We live in a quiet dog friendly village with lots of different walks available in the area. We have a small garden which is fenced off and secure so our dogs always have the option to spend time outside when they want to. The house is very spacious and our pets as well as guests are allowed everywhere including on the sofa!

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - East Devon
John was very quick to reply during the booking process, spacious house with big garden and a friendly dog. Was happy to adapt our dog’s routine due to the heat and we had regular updates. Thanks John for a professional service, we would not hesitate to have our dog stay again.

Annabel was very responsive on Rover and reacted to our (last minute) request easily. We spoke on the phone to discuss our dog's particular needs as she is very reactive. Annabel seemed unphased, and our dog was very relaxed on return. During the trip, we were reassured by pictures of our dog on walks, etc. She was ready for us on pickup, and was very flexible about the pickup time, which was much appreciated. Thanks Annabel.

Jenny looked after our little dog for the weekend, we had a met up in the byes before confirming the stay which was good. Communication was great and we were sent pictures. Our dog was happy on collection as were we, Jenny also kindly had our dog later than expected which we were very grateful for. I would definitely recommend Jenny :)

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
