Sharon was an excellent house and dog sitter. I think Otis was very happy in her company with her calm and respectful demeanour. She kept us up to date with daily news of how our dog was doing and where she had taken him. Our house was left in perfect condition and we felt well assured that Sharon was the right fit for our household. Will use her again! Highly recommend 😀

About: Hi! We're Angie & Alex, full-time professional house and pet sitters. We have both always loved animals and grown up looking after dogs and cats. I (Angie) grew up with dogs (a spaniel, a lab and a German Shepherd), whilst Alex grew up with cats. We now move around looking after different, wonderful dogs and cats, and their owners' homes while they're on extended trips (usually 2+ weeks). We give all animals the individual care and attention they need. So far this year we have looked after two elderly dogs in Devon (including giving them medication), a couple of energetic, young golden retrievers in Guildford, and a wisler and dachshund in Cornwall before that. We especially love getting outside with dogs, enjoying lots of walks in nature! We both work remotely, so we are at home all during the work week. Angie works part-time and flexi hours, so she is available to meet longer walking needs, if required. When we're not working, we're dedicated to the pets, and make any social plans fit around the animals' needs. We only do house-sitting, staying at the owner's house, and usually for 2+ weeks at a time. We take great care to learn from you what your animal needs and work with those needs. It's important to us that dogs and cats feel safe and comfortable with us, and that they thrive in our care. We ensure their routines are not disrupted; such as taking them on as long or short walks as they need and at the times they're used to. We can also administer medication, and give them playtime and attention.

We had a wonderful experience with Rowena looking after our dogs. She was calm, friendly and clearly loves animals, and our dogs took to her straight away. She sent us plenty of updates and photos while we were away, which was so reassuring and allowed us to relax knowing they were happy and well cared for. It was such a comfort knowing they were in safe and caring hands. I wouldn't hesitate to book with Rowena again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter.

Lydia was amazing with Dixie and Dixie absolutely loved her! Lots of communication and photos throughout the day. Made the effort to come over to meet Dixie before the day so that Dixie knew her already. Would definitely recommend.

This was our first time using a pet sitter, so we were understandably a bit apprehensive - but as soon as we met Jo, we were completely put at ease! She did a fantastic job looking after our dog and cat, and kindly kept us updated on how their time together was going. Highly recommend!

About: Dogs have been part of our family for 30 years or more. We have 2 dogs currently and I very much enjoy caring for other dogs in their own homes and surroundings. I have cared for many different breeds and ages. I am a retired registered nurse, so my time is my own. I am married so i am able to be away from home whilst my own dogs are cared for by my husband. I am not currently looking to board dogs in my own home, as this would not be suitable with our own two dogs. However this may be possible if there are no other options

About: I’ve looked after dogs for friends and family for many years and genuinely enjoy spending time with them. I have experienced caring for multiple dogs at once and have looked after a wide range of breeds and sizes from miniature dachshunds and toy poodles to cocker spaniels and retrievers. I work as a professional with a flexible schedule and often work from home so I’m able to provide plenty of company regular walks and attention throughout the day. I love being outdoors and I’m happy to Taylor walks to see your dogs need whether that’s a quick stroll or a longer adventure. I’m uncomfortable following your usual routine including feeding measuring tablets were needed and caring for both crate trained and no crate trained dogs. I’ll always treat your pets as if they are my own and make sure they’re happy safe and well looked after. I particularly enjoy caring for pets in their own home where they are most comfortable and the routine stays familiar as I live in central Exeter without a garden. I’m also happy to offer care in my home for shortest days where appropriate. Above all I am to provide dependable caring pet sitting that gives owners complete peace of mind. And of course I’m always happy to keep you updated with messages and photos while you’re away. I work full-time as a university lecture however this gives me a flexible schedule and I often work from home period. This means that I am available to provide plenty of company regular walks and attention throughout the day. I generally work Monday to Friday so often have a few emails or papers to catch up on over the weekend, but I always look for opportunities to get out and about whenever possible. Due to living in central Exeter without garden, I prefer to look after dogs in their own environments. I believe this helps them remain comfortable and with their regular routine which makes the experience better for everyone. I am happy to have dogs at my home for shorter periods and can discuss this on a case by case basis. I am more than happy to provide other housesitting services alongside dog sitting such as watering plants and collecting post if I stay in your home while you’re away.

Zoe answered our request immediately even though it was at relatively short notice. We met up the next day where Freya’s immediate response was very positive. Zoe asked all the right questions to understand and get to know Freya and her idiosyncrasies. Zoe contacted us a couple of times during the three day sit on minor issues which were quickly resolved. The only problem was that when it was time for her to leave Freya insisted on following her out of the door! Zoe clearly has an infinity with dogs and a caring attitude. We felt complete confidence in her and will have no hesitation in using her again and recommending her to others. Thanks Zoe.

About: I love dogs, have owned them since childhood, and along with my sister have helped foster and find home for rescues for the past 5 years. I have a four year old small breed mix named Rue. I work from home, so I’m home all day long to give your pup the love and affection he or she craves. My apartment features a fenced backyard for free running, and is near a lovely park where dogs go to play. My recently passed dog, Baxter, had epilepsy and took medication daily, so I’m familiar with dogs with special needs as well. I’ve owned or helped foster many breeds and will listen and tend to your dogs specific needs. Dogs are like family members in my home, so will be showed the utmost comfort while you’re away.

Emma was so great with our Rupert! She accepted our booking super last minute and had a thorough phone call with us to understand Rupert before the sit. She was so attentive to him with lots of play as it was too hot for a walk, and sent us lots of updates with photos/videos while we were out which was so reassuring. Emma was also really considerate of our home. Definitely recommend!

About: As well as being very actively involved in the care of my families dogs ever since I was very young, I have looked after plenty of friends dogs too. I have experience caring for dogs of all sizes, breeds and temperaments in both cities and the countryside. I prioritise being extra safe and present when I'm caring for an animal which ensures any dog in my care is relaxed and happy. Ultimately I'm completely dog obsessed and take the responsibility of looking after any dog, be it my own or someone else's, very seriously (but not seriously enough that we don't also have loads of fun!!) I am currently a freelance graphic designer working from home meaning I have a VERY flexible schedule and really the perfect set up for taking care of dogs. As of right now I am available all week with no real time constraints. Note- from 29/04 - 20/05 and 03/06-24/06 I will be unavailable on Wednesday until 2pm. I have a lovely fenced medium-large garden with lots of plants, trees and interesting bits for dogs to explore (aka not a rectangle of flat grass!). My dogs spend lots of time outside sunbathing and playing. I have two beddlington-whippet girls at home, one is 5 the other is 10. The older isn't particularly interested in other dogs at all, happy to keep to herself. The other LOVES other dogs, she's a fantastic play mate.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred East Devon walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East Devon choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
