About: Hi, I'm Clare, I live near Newton Abbot, currently with my my 2 cats and a tortoise. I have a Maine Coon and a Siamese cross, both as rescue cats who I've cared for since they were both about 6months old. I've got previous experience of pet sitting other cats, kittens, puppies, older dogs, reptiles, rabbits, guinea pigs, fish and even the odd house plant! I have a car and will travel to you.

“Harriet was a fantastic sitter for us and our cat Tabzy. She was perfectly on time for the pre-meet, super lovely and sent up wonderful updates whilst we were away. Cannot recommend her enough.”

“Our Rupert had a wonderful day with Rach, she was super considerate of understanding him and flexible to what we needed. Rach sent us photo updates throughout the day which was really reassuring for Rupert’s first day with a sitter! We definitely know who to return to in the future :)”

“Adrienn was a lovely girl. She took her responsibilities really seriously. She kept me updated throughout the time she was with my babies. She sent photos and videos. She respected my home and left it spotless. I would definitely use her again.”

“Amber was great with my 4 year old labrador, who needs to be kept entertained and closely watched for cheeky behaviour. She communicated regularly which put me at ease. She kept me updated with pictures and even reminded me to order his medication which I had forgotten. She kept the house well and tidied up after herself before I returned. I would definitely recommend her. 👍”

“Florence was great. She took amazing care of our two dogs, cat and home for four days. The communication was excellent and the dogs had some great walks. Very happy to recommend Florence to others looking for a sitter”

“We absolutely loved having Jo housesit and cat sit for our little Biscuit. She made us feel so comfortable with little kitty updates and videos. Biscuit also was super happy to have someone give her so much love and attention while we were gone. Perfect!!”

“I am very pleased as to how Chloe looked after the cat and the home while I was away in a different country. She sent several pictures per day, and I will be booking her again in the future!”

“Siâni took great care of Daisy and kept me updated, very reliable and honestly couldn’t ask for more, Daisy was in such great mood when we arrived so clearly had a blast ❤️ definitely will book again 🩷”

“Aneta was a fantastic sitter for our boy! She was really confident with Diesel, even though he doesn’t like other dogs, and really listened to his needs and what works for him, which really put our mind at ease. Will definitely be enquiring with her again for our next trip: thank you so so much!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats since I was around 10 for neighbours and friends and family I have reptile and equine experience I’m currently only working part time and am informed of my shifts days in advanced which opens up my schedule to more hours during the week! I have a fenced garden and a park just opposite my house which is mostly enclosed, I can take your pet on multiple walks a day and they shouldn’t be alone for more than a couple hours at a time :)
“I can’t recommend Tim enough. Tim stayed in our time with our dog Akela for 2 weeks while we were away. He was absolutely great with Akela, gave him plenty of walks, attention and love. Tim also treated our home with respect and it was nice and clean when we arrived home. Tim provided regular updates and photos of walks and Akela which we were absolutely delighted to see coming. Tim really went above and beyond when minding Akela and I would have him mind Akela again in a heart beat and we will very soon.”

About: I have successfully looked after many dogs for many years, and love their company. I did have a wonderful dog of my own who was a rescue dog and became incredible company. I have over 30 years experience with looking after dogs and cats. I enjoy looking after other peoples' beloveds while they go on holiday, or when they have work commitments. I have also had many cats of my own and loved them all. I live close to parks and other great walks for dogs. I am a writer and professional artist working from home. Plenty of time for walks, company and play. I have a fenced garden and live on a quiet road. I will always follow your dog's routine, as arranged with yourself, to help make them feel at home. For example, meal times, any special diets, or requirements. It’s always helpful to know your dog’s temperament with other dogs, how they are on/off lead. They will be well cared for. I also paint dog portraits in watercolour, please see photos.
“It was great to be able to leave our rather difficult terrier in the capable hands of Patrick. We were able to relax and enjoy our time away knowing Reggie was happy and well cared for.”

“Ellie was brilliant with our anxious rescue dog and was very attentive to his needs. We enjoyed our time out knowing he would be well looked after. We had photo updates and could see how happy he was, due to her kindness. Thank you Ellie!”
“Danu was the perfect cat sitter for our two boys! She was friendly, reliable and went above and beyond to make them comfortable. She even sent loads of pictures and updates, we’re extremely grateful! Thank you Danu, Arlo and Benji miss you already x”

About: I’m based in Dartmouth but I work near Totnes and Newton Abbot, so I’m happy to provide my service anywhere local. I have three female cats who love to play and cuddle! In the past I had two other cats, a female and a male, and plenty of different dogs including a husky or a German Sheppard and ohh gosh that was an experience to learn about the differences in approach! I’d love to help you out so you can enjoy your time away and know your pets are cared for! I will also send you some cute photos to make sure you don’t miss them too much!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Teignbridge walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Teignbridge choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
