About: I have successfully looked after many dogs for many years, and love their company. I did have a wonderful dog of my own who was a rescue dog and became incredible company. I have over 30 years experience with looking after dogs and cats. I enjoy looking after other peoples' beloveds while they go on holiday, or when they have work commitments. I have also had many cats of my own and loved them all. I live close to parks and other great walks for dogs. I am a writer and professional artist working from home. Plenty of time for walks, company and play. I have a fenced garden and live on a quiet road. I will always follow your dog's routine, as arranged with yourself, to help make them feel at home. For example, meal times, any special diets, or requirements. It’s always helpful to know your dog’s temperament with other dogs, how they are on/off lead. They will be well cared for. I also paint dog portraits in watercolour, please see photos.

Hilary looked after our 2 dogs at the end of August . We had good communication throughout (despite my poor phone signal) , and Hilary looked after them really well, we came home to 2 very happy dogs. She also applied some medication to one dog everyday, and also moderated their walks as it was very hot on a few days too. Highly recommend and would definitely book again if she was available . Thanks Hilary .

Zoe answered our request immediately even though it was at relatively short notice. We met up the next day where Freya’s immediate response was very positive. Zoe asked all the right questions to understand and get to know Freya and her idiosyncrasies. Zoe contacted us a couple of times during the three day sit on minor issues which were quickly resolved. The only problem was that when it was time for her to leave Freya insisted on following her out of the door! Zoe clearly has an infinity with dogs and a caring attitude. We felt complete confidence in her and will have no hesitation in using her again and recommending her to others. Thanks Zoe.

Emma was so great with our Rupert! She accepted our booking super last minute and had a thorough phone call with us to understand Rupert before the sit. She was so attentive to him with lots of play as it was too hot for a walk, and sent us lots of updates with photos/videos while we were out which was so reassuring. Emma was also really considerate of our home. Definitely recommend!

Wow! We couldn’t have asked for anything more! Emily, knowing we were nervous leaving our puppy for the first time, kept us up to date with lots of videos and photos. She prioritised our pups needs for the entire time. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her and we are hoping she will become the extended family for our pup time & time again!

About: As well as being very actively involved in the care of my families dogs ever since I was very young, I have looked after plenty of friends dogs too. I have experience caring for dogs of all sizes, breeds and temperaments in both cities and the countryside. I prioritise being extra safe and present when I'm caring for an animal which ensures any dog in my care is relaxed and happy. Ultimately I'm completely dog obsessed and take the responsibility of looking after any dog, be it my own or someone else's, very seriously (but not seriously enough that we don't also have loads of fun!!) I am currently a freelance graphic designer working from home meaning I have a VERY flexible schedule and really the perfect set up for taking care of dogs. As of right now I am available all week with no real time constraints. Note- from 29/04 - 20/05 and 03/06-24/06 I will be unavailable on Wednesday until 2pm. I have a lovely fenced medium-large garden with lots of plants, trees and interesting bits for dogs to explore (aka not a rectangle of flat grass!). My dogs spend lots of time outside sunbathing and playing. I have two beddlington-whippet girls at home, one is 5 the other is 10. The older isn't particularly interested in other dogs at all, happy to keep to herself. The other LOVES other dogs, she's a fantastic play mate.

We had a wonderful experience with Rowena looking after our dogs. She was calm, friendly and clearly loves animals, and our dogs took to her straight away. She sent us plenty of updates and photos while we were away, which was so reassuring and allowed us to relax knowing they were happy and well cared for. It was such a comfort knowing they were in safe and caring hands. I wouldn't hesitate to book with Rowena again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter.

About: Hi, I’m Denise, a caring and reliable pet sitter with a lifelong love of animals. I grew up with dogs and cats, including rescue dogs, and have experience looking after dogs for friends and housemates, from walks and overnight stays to caring for them while their owners are away. I currently work part-time as a support worker with young adults with learning disabilities, which gives me plenty of flexibility. I treat every dog as if it were my own and always aim to make them feel safe, happy, and well cared for. I’m an outdoorsy person and enjoy long walks, so I’m happy to look after high-energy dogs as well as more relaxed ones. I also have experience with puppies, nervous dogs, and rescue dogs with challenging behaviours. I’d love to help look after your dog and make sure they’re well cared for while you’re away🐾 I also offer drop-in visits and dog walking! I currently work part-time as a support worker, so I have plenty of flexibility. My schedule changes weekly, but I’ll always do my best to accommodate your needs. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask! I always follow your pet’s usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding times, walks, and any specific instructions you provide. I make sure pets are supervised, comfortable, and secure at all times, and I’ll keep you updated with regular photos and messages if you ask for it so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. I can’t offer pet sitting in my own home at the moment, but I’m happy to travel anywhere within 30 miles

We’ve always relied on friends and family to look after Leia as she’s very nervous around new people, so finding the right sitter felt like a big step for us. Tim has been brilliant – calm, reliable, and so understanding of Leia’s needs. She quickly warmed to him, which speaks volumes! It’s been such a relief knowing she’s in safe hands. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Tim to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter. Ready to book him again very soon.

About: Dogs have always been a huge part of my life. I grew up on a farm surrounded by animals and today my constant companion is Harper, my wonderful three-year-old cocker spaniel. We spend most days exploring the countryside around Dartmoor, where we live in a large converted chapel in a peaceful Devon village. Life here is a dog’s dream. We’re surrounded by woodland trails, open moorland, reservoirs and beaches, which means plenty of opportunities for exercise, enrichment and adventure. Whether your dog loves long walks, paddling in the water, playing fetch or simply relaxing in the garden, I’ll tailor their day to suit their personality and energy levels. I work from home, so your dog will have company, attention and regular toilet breaks throughout the day rather than being left alone for long periods. I also have a secure, enclosed and shaded garden that’s perfect for playtime and keeping cool during warmer weather. Most importantly, I understand that leaving your dog with someone else is a matter of trust. I’ll care for them as if they were my own, making sure they’re safe, happy, well exercised and showered with affection while you’re away. I work full time from home but most of my team is in the U.S, so half my day is my own time to work flexibly which works well during the warmer weather for cool morning walks. I’m available for boarding and house sitting during the week and weekends and I can be flexible for fairly last minute requests. I have a completely enclosed garden that is beautiful and safe. My dog, Harper, is the absolute friendliest cocker spaniel - she’s neutered, very friendly with other dogs and typically follows me around everywhere. I’m happy to take the lead from you on any routines or care your pet requires.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Mid Devon on Rover is £46 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 367 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Mid Devon. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Mid Devon walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mid Devon choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
