“Myah is a great sitter - responsive, reliable and very attentive to the dogs and what they need and how they behave. Both our dogs are rescues and have their challenges. Myah came for a meet and greet and then a walk to get to know them both. We felt very confident to leave our house and dogs with her and would highly recommend.”

“I cannot speak highly enough of Grace . She is caring , conscientious , responsible , level headed and immediately gained a rapport with our cat. It was quite a major thing for me to hire a cat sitter , but after having Grace sit, I wish I had done it years ago. Previously we have used high end kennels but our cat is getting old and always took time to settle back home again. On returning home this time we found our cat completely chilled and content . Grace had kept us up to date with updates and photos while we were away , and had given our cat all the love and attention she needed. She clearly loved her time with Grace. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Grace for sitting to anyone.”

About: Hi! I’m currently a postgraduate student living in the UK. I’m quite a calm and patient person, and I really enjoy spending quiet time with animals 🐱🐶 I once rescued a stray cat and took care of it for about 6 months, so I understand the responsibility of feeding, cleaning, and making sure pets feel safe and comfortable. I also have some experience with dog walking, and I’m always gentle and attentive when looking after pets. As a student, my schedule is quite flexible during the week. I’m happy to follow your routines carefully and send updates, so you can feel relaxed while you’re away. I may not have years of experience, but I will genuinely care for your pet as if they were my own. I’m available in the mornings from 7–9am (Monday to Friday), evenings from 5:30–9:30pm (Tuesday to Friday), and I have full availability on Saturdays. I try to be flexible whenever possible, so feel free to message me to discuss your needs! When caring for pets in your home, I will make sure to respect your space and follow your instructions carefully. I understand that pets feel most comfortable in their own environment, so I will try to keep their routine as normal as possible. I’m a clean and tidy person, and I will make sure everything is left as I found it. I’m also happy to send updates and photos, so you can feel at ease while you’re away.

About: I have grown up with dogs my entire life and currently have my own. I know the importance of a routine and their comfort, their individual needs such as needing space or wanting to cuddle. I’m comfortable with administering flea, tick and worm treatments, and currently looking into dog/animal first aid. I’m currently on maternity leave, so I have lots of time for walks and sitting in the evenings or early mornings, especially during the summer. Weekends are a lot more flexible, and happy to walk dogs who get on with others as I have my own. I’ll always ask owners first but happy to provide solo walks if preferred. In my own home, I have an enclosed garden and live with a very friendly and social cocker spaniel. Indoors, I have a separate kitchen and living room, allowing for space for dogs if they stay. My dog sleeps in a crate in the kitchen which has a baby gate so separation can be provided if necessary. Very friendly neighbourhood with parks and good green parks available for walks close by.
“It was great to be able to leave our rather difficult terrier in the capable hands of Patrick. We were able to relax and enjoy our time away knowing Reggie was happy and well cared for.”

“Jo was absolutely perfect for our reactive, strong rescue dog! Jo is warm, kind and sent us updates but most importantly left us feeling totally reassured that our anxious dog would be loved and well looked after. Our dog also took to Jo and her wonderfully warm energy instantly, as did we. I couldn’t recommend her highly enough!”

About: I took care of my mom’s grumpy senior cat during the last stages of her life (apparently arthritis doesn’t prevent them from turning into Mike Tyson). I am a single, young, energetic 23 year old female university student, so my schedule is very flexible. I am very social and physically strong (practically move boxes for a living atp). I have a great social circle with their own pets as well, so your pets will have a friend to go on walks with xx I volunteer for the dog walking service at our university. Back home as it was not really common to keep dogs, I used to take care of my neighbours’ cats. These are the two lovely babies I walk here. Luna is a cocker spaniel and my regular, and has the shiniest black coat and grinch feet! She has a fascination with tennis balls but is very possessive over them. If I throw the ball once, she won’t ever let go of it, and will even pick up multiple things in her mouth but never let go of the ball. She likes dog ice cream, and is very happy to see new people, however she has an attention span of a toddler xD she’s quite a diva in the best ways and has a routine on how she wants things done. Reggie is a duck toller, but I’m half convinced he’s just a cat in the wrong body. He’s an absolute rocket, and loves swimming in the Quay (beware of the swans and geese tho!). He loves his frisbee, but will try to take it out of your hand if you’re holding it for too long ._. He’s got a lovely coat and looks like fried chicken when the sun hits it right. He is also a bit ADHD, and will not go down the same side of the road that he went up before. My program relies heavily on self study, so class durations are short over the week. I work part time as well in the middle of high street, so I can be flexible with my schedule. Most residences will simply be a short walk or ride away for me as I live on university grounds. Communication is key-our pets are unable to talk, so understanding their body language and being quick to act if something looks off is the difference between a healthy and dead pet. My phone will be on 24/7 without silent mode when I’m taking care of a pet. I will take a lot of pictures with your pets though :p I play for the university’s basketball team, so I’m constantly out for runs and walks outside of training time. Having a pet would be great company for me especially during the darker hours.
“I am very pleased as to how Chloe looked after the cat and the home while I was away in a different country. She sent several pictures per day, and I will be booking her again in the future!”

“This is Cece second stay with our two dogs. It’s so lovely that we have her support. Otto & Edie love her & we never worry .. It’s such a joy to be able grab a weekend away & know our dogs & home is in safe hands..”

“Lara is lovely, she made time to come and meet our dog and us before the house sit. A fellow dog lover, super professional and great communication. We would definitely recommend Lara and have her house sit for us again!”

About: Hi I’m Anneka (39) and I absolutely love dogs. My daughter (Ruby 16) desperately wants me to get one however I also work 30hrs a week. So we have compromised to Rover and we have met in the middle. I’m very attentive and want you to feel at ease leaving your loved one with me. I live close to Exeter quay and I’m always going on long walks. Also willing to take dogs in my car to different locations. It would be a pleasure to look after your furry friend! If you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Many thanks, Anneka. My availability varies. I work part time so I will have plenty of time to look after your dog. You not only get me you get Ruby too. Safety is my number one priority. Your dog will never be left alone. They will always have access to fresh water and fed regularly when needed.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter than Nan. Absolutely loved how she put more effort than I asked her to in taking care of our Maltipoo Chadwick. Our dog can be very anxious when we’re away but she was able to calm him down. We felt very safe leaving him with Nan. Will definitely book again when we’re away. Thank you so much Nan!”

“Chantelle is a fantastic sitter. Koda absolutely loves her and she took her for lots of walks and play time with friends. I felt at ease knowing Koda was in good hands. Chantelle kept me updated with pictures and messages about Koda which I really appreciated. I will definitely book again and really recommend to anyone 😊”

“Mia was great. She arrived on time, took very good care of our dog Buddy. Everything was left in order, and Buddy was happy and comfortable. She was easy to communicate with and just really pleasant to work with. I'd be happy to have her dog-sit again.”

About: Hello, We are Hannah and Sam and we've been full time global petsitters for over 3 years, from house cats in Dubai to Beagles in India. Now we are back in Exeter and want to continue our love for petsitting. We’ve been fortunate to receive many lovely reviews from pet owners who appreciate our attentive care, regular updates, and the bond we build with their pets which we are happy to share upon request! There are two of us on the profile, so your pet gets double the attention, double the love and double the care! It also means should an unforeseen event occur where one of us can't make it, you can rest easy knowing the other person can still manage the booking. Sam and I both grew up with dogs and have a deep understanding of what it takes to keep them comfortable and content. Whether it’s playing games, engaging in fun enrichment activities, or taking them on exciting walks, we treat every dog as if they are our own by making sure they feel loved, safe, and entertained while you're away! We are both local to Exeter so know of all the safe and fun walks. A dog’s routine is incredibly important to us, we find that sticking to their usual schedule keeps them happiest. Whether it's mealtime, walk times, or bedtime, we work around their routine to ensure they feel secure and comfortable. As I am self employed our schedule can align to theirs. Also, if house sitting they would have company and lots of attention throughout the day. We believe that communication is key, especially when it comes to your pet’s well-being. If we notice any changes in their behaviour or something seems off, we’ll keep you informed every step of the way, ensuring you always know how they’re doing. We have experience administering medication, including pills and topical treatments, and have cared for senior dogs, including those with hearing impairments. Whether your pet needs extra attention, a little patience, or simply their usual routine, we’re committed to making them feel safe, comfortable, and loved in our care.
The median cost per night for house sitting in Exeter is £35
Pet owners share their Rover experiences - Exeter
Chantelle was wonderful with Reggie. Spent time making sure she had all the information she needed before she took him for his first walk and before she stayed in our home for a week as dog/house sitter. She is clearly very knowledgeable and experienced with dogs, and dealing with one of Reggie's grumpy moments with another male dog while out walking. We were pleased that Chantelle felt comfortable in our home and Reggie clearly loved having a young person (as in same age as our adult children) to chill out with, snuggle up with for a cuddle, or play with his toys. The updates and photos were lovely. We had no reservations about her professionalism and knew that we were leaving Reggie and our home in good hands. Thanks Chantelle. You're a star. Reggie wants to know when we are going away again!

Tim has been absolutely incredible looking after our puppy sunny! It was the first time leaving her and since she is a pup I was so nervous. Tim has been so accommodating, following her schedule and taken on the challenge of puppy craziness with such calm. He also was so understanding about my nervousness and checking in more frequently as it was the first time leaving her. Sunny seemed to be very calm and happy when we arrived back home. We would 100% recommend him and book with tim again!

I cannot speak highly enough of Grace . I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Grace for sitting to anyone.

Victoria was very attentive to Luna's needs and did a great job looking after her for the long weekend! Luna had some lovely walks and made some new friends...we loved having plenty of photographs and updates while we were away so we knew she was being well looked after. Highly recommended!

Myah is a great sitter - responsive, reliable and very attentive to the dogs and what they need and how they behave. Both our dogs are rescues and have their challenges. Myah came for a meet and greet and then a walk to get to know them both. We felt very confident to leave our house and dogs with her and would highly recommend.

Sue was fantastic. A lovely, warm person who hit it off with my cat, Joe. Upon introduction some days earlier, it was obvious Joe was going to be happy. Sue asked lots of questions about Joe's likes, dislikes and habits. It suited Joe much better to have someone stay overnight, despite waking Sue at some unearthly hour one morning . Sorry Sue! It was ideal as Joe is not used to being on his own very much, and certainly not overnight. This also meant he could use the garden as and when, rather than being kept in. One happy cat, one happy owner. I would highly recommend Sue.
Jamie looked after my dog Ivan and my daughter’s dog Barnaby (who is blind) for just under 3 weeks whilst we were away on a family holiday! From the very start I knew the boys would be in good hands and they were …Jamie looked after our home was caring and communicated well at all times sending us photos and updates throughout! Thanks so much Jamie for looking after them so well they absolutely loved being with you , helping out at the park run , all the walks and fun they had with you! Jamie is highly competent giving Ivan his medication and even removing a tic from Barnabys face after communicating with us . Excellent communication and care…. I can’t thank you enough for looking after them so well :). The boys are missing you !!

Nacho was immediately at ease with Zuzia at the meet and greet, so I felt really confident leaving him with her. Over the weekend she shared lots of sweet photos of him and I could tell he was very happy in her company. House looked great when I came home. Wouldn't hesitate to book again😊

Rachel was brilliant, highly recommend her and will definitely call on her again. She was quick to respond, polite, arranged a meet and greet, arrived on time and asked questions to clarify Sadie’s care needs. Sadie seemed very happy in her company. Thank you Rachel ☺️

Tahni stayed with Honey from the 26th to the 28th of December and was absolutely wonderful. She looked after Honey incredibly well and clearly took great care of her. Communication was excellent throughout, I received regular updates and felt completely at ease knowing Honey was in such good hands. Honey was happy, relaxed, and well cared for when I returned. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her and would happily book her again. Thank you Tahni, Regards Simone

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Exeter walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Exeter choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
