About: Hi, I’m Denise, a caring and reliable pet sitter with a lifelong love of animals. I grew up with dogs and cats, including rescue dogs, and have experience looking after dogs for friends and housemates, from walks and overnight stays to caring for them while their owners are away. I’m naturally very outdoorsy, so I love taking dogs on long walks where needed. I currently work part-time as a support worker with young adults with learning disabilities, which gives me plenty of flexibility. I treat every dog as if it were my own and always aim to make them feel safe, happy, and well cared for. I’m happy to look after high-energy dogs as well as more relaxed ones. I also have experience with puppies, nervous dogs, and rescue dogs. I have public liability insurance too, so you can have that extra peace of mind. I’d love to look after your dog and make sure they have a happy, fun and comfortable time while you’re away 🐾 I also offer dog walking and drop-in visits! I currently work part-time as a support worker, so I have plenty of flexibility. My schedule changes weekly, but I’ll always do my best to accommodate your needs. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask! I always follow your pet’s usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding times, walks, and any specific instructions you provide. I make sure pets are supervised, comfortable, and secure at all times, and I’ll keep you updated with regular photos and messages if you ask for it so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. I can’t offer pet sitting in my own home at the moment, but I’m happy to travel anywhere within 30 miles

Emma was so great with our Rupert! She accepted our booking super last minute and had a thorough phone call with us to understand Rupert before the sit. She was so attentive to him with lots of play as it was too hot for a walk, and sent us lots of updates with photos/videos while we were out which was so reassuring. Emma was also really considerate of our home. Definitely recommend!

I had such peace of mind going away on holiday knowing that Katerina would be visiting our dog Oscar during the daytime in our home (we had family staying in the house at nighttime). Oscar is a unique character and we felt having someone look after him during the day in his own space would suit his personality best. Katerina came and met Oscar before we went on holiday so he got to know her a bit beforehand. Oscar warmed to Katerina and even ended up cuddling on her lap. He was very relaxed and chilled when we got back. Katerina sent us photos and updates on how he was getting on - we were able to totally relax knowing he was being well looked after.

Myah is a great sitter - responsive, reliable and very attentive to the dogs and what they need and how they behave. Both our dogs are rescues and have their challenges. Myah came for a meet and greet and then a walk to get to know them both. We felt very confident to leave our house and dogs with her and would highly recommend.

Andrea is the perfect dog & house sitter. She was wonderful with our GSP he really took to her and loved his long walks and cuddles. We could enjoy our break away knowing he was in really good hands. Andrea updated us daily with photos of Toby and even sent screen shots of her Strava map of where they’d walked, loved that. Andrea went above and beyond to tidy the house before we arrived back. So appreciated. I can highly recommend Andrea.

About: Walk and exercise dogs in my local communities for more than 5 years; puppies and mature dogs. Assisted on puppy training course for 10 weeks led by a ex- police dog trainer. Trained Rufus my own flat coat retriever. Flexible hours and high availability. I am student based in Bath and Exeter. During holidays I am in Bath with more availability. During term time in Exeter my schedule is variable. I always update owners with the walks I am going on and take photos to share with them. On roads I always walk with a lead and I take time to get to know each dog to work out the best environments to take them to.

About: I’ve always lived with cats but am a lover of all animals. Have lived with a large dog part-time for the past 3 years (a crazy Vizla shown in my photos!) so am not intimidated by bigger/ high energy dogs. I have looked after cats, dogs, hens as well as small pets since around age 12. I’m very calm, will make sure your pet feels safe and happy to help however I can. Have experience dealing with senior animals and administering medications too, very willing to discuss requests like that. 🌟 I’m a final year uni student studying Biology. Happy to sit and study if pets just need some company while you’re out, as well as get out and about on a walk! Very adaptable depending on their needs, happy to cuddle or leave them be. I totally understand each animal has their preferences and I’ll always accommodate to what they like🐕.

About: I took care of my mom’s grumpy senior cat during the last stages of her life (apparently arthritis doesn’t prevent them from turning into Mike Tyson). I am a single, young, energetic 23 year old female university student, so my schedule is very flexible. I am very social and physically strong (practically move boxes for a living atp). I have a great social circle with their own pets as well, so your pets will have a friend to go on walks with xx I volunteer for the dog walking service at our university. Back home as it was not really common to keep dogs, I used to take care of my neighbours’ cats. These are the two lovely babies I walk here. Luna is a cocker spaniel and my regular, and has the shiniest black coat and grinch feet! She has a fascination with tennis balls but is very possessive over them. If I throw the ball once, she won’t ever let go of it, and will even pick up multiple things in her mouth but never let go of the ball. She likes dog ice cream, and is very happy to see new people, however she has an attention span of a toddler xD she’s quite a diva in the best ways and has a routine on how she wants things done. Reggie is a duck toller, but I’m half convinced he’s just a cat in the wrong body. He’s an absolute rocket, and loves swimming in the Quay (beware of the swans and geese tho!). He loves his frisbee, but will try to take it out of your hand if you’re holding it for too long ._. He’s got a lovely coat and looks like fried chicken when the sun hits it right. He is also a bit ADHD, and will not go down the same side of the road that he went up before. My program relies heavily on self study, so class durations are short over the week. I work part time as well in the middle of high street, so I can be flexible with my schedule. Most residences will simply be a short walk or ride away for me as I live on university grounds. Communication is key-our pets are unable to talk, so understanding their body language and being quick to act if something looks off is the difference between a healthy and dead pet. My phone will be on 24/7 without silent mode when I’m taking care of a pet. I will take a lot of pictures with your pets though :p I play for the university’s basketball team, so I’m constantly out for runs and walks outside of training time. Having a pet would be great company for me especially during the darker hours.

About: I’ve walked neighbours, friends and our family dogs since I was 8 years old ☺️ Recently, I’ve starting cat sitting family friends cats too! 🐈🐈‍⬛ I work full time, with some weekday flexibility, as I work for several hours on the weekend- meaning I will be in Exeter to look after your pets! It’s important to build a rapport with your pet based on their terms and body language, as they don’t know me! Ensuring they are safe within their own home, or out and about, is a key topic to talk about with you before I care for your pet- after all, you know them best!

About: Hello, We are Hannah and Sam and we've been full time global petsitters for over 3 years, from house cats in Dubai to Beagles in India. Now we are back in Exeter and want to continue our love for petsitting. We’ve been fortunate to receive many lovely reviews from pet owners who appreciate our attentive care, regular updates, and the bond we build with their pets which we are happy to share upon request! There are two of us on the profile, so your pet gets double the attention, double the love and double the care! It also means should an unforeseen event occur where one of us can't make it, you can rest easy knowing the other person can still manage the booking. Sam and I both grew up with dogs and have a deep understanding of what it takes to keep them comfortable and content. Whether it’s playing games, engaging in fun enrichment activities, or taking them on exciting walks, we treat every dog as if they are our own by making sure they feel loved, safe, and entertained while you're away! We are both local to Exeter so know of all the safe and fun walks. A dog’s routine is incredibly important to us, we find that sticking to their usual schedule keeps them happiest. Whether it's mealtime, walk times, or bedtime, we work around their routine to ensure they feel secure and comfortable. As I am self employed our schedule can align to theirs. Also, if house sitting they would have company and lots of attention throughout the day. We believe that communication is key, especially when it comes to your pet’s well-being. If we notice any changes in their behaviour or something seems off, we’ll keep you informed every step of the way, ensuring you always know how they’re doing. We have experience administering medication, including pills and topical treatments, and have cared for senior dogs, including those with hearing impairments. Whether your pet needs extra attention, a little patience, or simply their usual routine, we’re committed to making them feel safe, comfortable, and loved in our care.

My boy Ken can be shy and isn’t keen to be stroked by strangers, I was surprised when he immediately approached Alex for a fuss, she was very intuitive with him, and he liked her a lot. Leo is an excellent sitter! It was my first time using a cat sitter service and I was nervous, but he was very quick to reply and had a video call with me on the day since our schedules didn't allow us to meet in person. He always checked in with me about what my preferences were, instead of guessing or assuming, which I think is a great quality. I find him to be trustworthy, responsible, sincere, and honest. Toffin was nervous at first but warmed up to him eventually, enough to enjoy some cuddles. Leo kept sending me updates including photos which gave me a great peace of mind. I'll definitely use his service again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to other anxious cat owners who truly loves their cat!

She sent us lots of photos, videos and updates every day, which gave us so much peace of mind. It was so lovely to see how happy the cats were with her. Nikki is such a kind and genuine person who really cares about the pets she looks after. She even made sure we had a plan in place in case our flight home was delayed, so we knew the cats would always be looked after. We also came home to a lovely tidy house, which was so nice after a long journey. We’ll definitely be booking her again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone. Chantelle was wonderful with Reggie. Spent time making sure she had all the information she needed before she took him for his first walk and before she stayed in our home for a week as dog/house sitter. She is clearly very knowledgeable and experienced with dogs, and dealing with one of Reggie's grumpy moments with another male dog while out walking. We were pleased that Chantelle felt comfortable in our home and Reggie clearly loved having a young person (as in same age as our adult children) to chill out with, snuggle up with for a cuddle, or play with his toys. The updates and photos were lovely. We had no reservations about her professionalism and knew that we were leaving Reggie and our home in good hands. Thanks Chantelle. You're a star. Reggie wants to know when we are going away again!

Tim has been absolutely incredible looking after our puppy sunny! It was the first time leaving her and since she is a pup I was so nervous. Tim has been so accommodating, following her schedule and taken on the challenge of puppy craziness with such calm. He also was so understanding about my nervousness and checking in more frequently as it was the first time leaving her. Sunny seemed to be very calm and happy when we arrived back home. I cannot speak highly enough of Grace . She is caring , conscientious , responsible , level headed and immediately gained a rapport with our cat. It was quite a major thing for me to hire a cat sitter , but after having Grace sit, I wish I had done it years ago. Previously we have used high end kennels but our cat is getting old and always took time to settle back home again. On returning home this time we found our cat completely chilled and content . Grace had kept us up to date with updates and photos while we were away , and had given our cat all the love and attention she needed. She clearly loved her time with Grace. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Grace for sitting to anyone.

Sue was fantastic. A lovely, warm person who hit it off with my cat, Joe. Upon introduction some days earlier, it was obvious Joe was going to be happy. Sue asked lots of questions about Joe's likes, dislikes and habits. It suited Joe much better to have someone stay overnight, despite waking Sue at some unearthly hour one morning . Sorry Sue! It was ideal as Joe is not used to being on his own very much, and certainly not overnight. This also meant he could use the garden as and when, rather than being kept in. One happy cat, one happy owner. I would highly recommend Sue.

FAQs for House Sitting - Exeter

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Exeter on Rover is £34.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 323 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Exeter. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Exeter walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Exeter choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
