Yves and Nick looked after our spaniels Maggie and Poppy like they were their own. They clearly love pups and really make an effort to welcome your dog into their home. The dogs were clearly so happy throughout their time there, had lots of walks, treats, playtime and cuddles. Thank you so much!

Talita, Neil and Mala are absolutely wonderful. We felt so comfortable leaving Buddy with them. We really appreciated their updates and hearing how well Buddy got on with them. We would be so happy for them to look after Buddy again and would recommend anyone leaving their pup friends with them as they are really attentive and clearly care about looking after your pets so well. Thank you all. Buddy loves having a new great friend.

About: We are a dog-loving family based on the edge of Exeter, with over three years’ experience as trained Guide Dog fosterers. Through our work with Guide Dogs, Luke and I have completed official training and have hands-on experience caring for dogs with a range of needs, routines, and temperaments. Before fostering, we’ve always had dogs in our lives as family pets, including supporting with breeding and puppy rearing, so we’re confident and capable with dogs of all ages. Our children (aged 8 and 11) are calm, respectful, and well used to being around dogs, understanding how to approach and interact with them safely. Both of us work from home, which means your dog will have plenty of attention, regular toilet breaks, and consistent care throughout the day, as well as daily walks. We lead an active outdoor lifestyle and enjoy trips to the beach, walks on Dartmoor, and (in the summer!) wild swimming—so there’s plenty of adventure on offer if your dog enjoys it. We live in a peaceful location with a good-sized woodland garden and easy access to beautiful rural walks, giving dogs space to explore, play, and relax. We absolutely love having dogs as part of family life and, while we’re not in a position to have one of our own just yet, we take real joy in caring for others as if they were part of our family. Pet care fits naturally into our daily routine as we both work from home, so there is always someone available to provide consistent care, attention, and supervision throughout the day. We’re able to offer regular toilet breaks, feeding at set times, and plenty of companionship. Our days already include walks and outdoor time, which we can tailor to suit each dog’s needs—whether that’s shorter, frequent walks or longer, more active outings. Evenings are typically relaxed and home-based, giving dogs time to settle and feel part of the family. Weekends are flexible and often involve outdoor activities like countryside walks or trips to the beach, so dogs in our care benefit from both structure during the week and enrichment at the weekend. We provide a safe, calm, and structured environment, drawing on our experience as trained Guide Dog fosterers. We follow each dog’s individual routine closely, including feeding, exercise, rest, and any specific training or behavioural guidance provided by owners. Our home is set up with dogs in mind, including a woodland garden for supervised outdoor time and easy access to quiet rural walks. Dogs are never left unattended for long periods, and we ensure they have a comfortable space to relax and feel at ease. We are confident handling dogs with different temperaments and needs, and always use positive, consistent reinforcement. We’re also mindful of safety around children—our two are experienced, calm, and understand how to behave respectfully around dogs. If caring for pets in an owner’s home, we aim to maintain their usual routine as closely as possible to minimise stress, while keeping owners updated with regular communication and photos for peace of mind.

I couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter! She looked after Salty for 6 days and was absolutely wonderful throughout. She is incredibly kind, warm, and clearly loves what she does. Salty was very well cared for, happy, and relaxed when I returned, which says everything. It gave me real peace of mind knowing Salty was in such good hands. I truly appreciate the attention, care, and affection she showed, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for someone reliable and genuinely lovely to look after their pet.Lx

This was Bessie’s second stay with Greg and Jill. When we got to the building, Bessie was immediately excited, and she greeted Greg and Jill with incredible enthusiasm. That made me so happy—she must have had a great time if she was so eager to return! Once again G & J we’re very communicative and took Bessie on lots of wonderful adventures to parks and the beach. Their photos are outstanding! Bessie was healthy and in good spirits on my return. Thanks Greg and Jill!

About: My fiancée, Liam, annd I, have always had dogs as part of our family, so caring for them comes naturally to us. We understand that every dog has their own personality, preferences, and routine, and we’ll do everything we can to help them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while they’re with us. We share our home with our friendly Cocker Spaniel, Arlo, who loves meeting other dogs and enjoys having a friend to play with. We’ll do our best to follow your dog’s usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding times, exercise, and any special requirements, so they feel settled and at home. Your dog will enjoy a daily walk in our local area, along with plenty of cuddles and attention. Whether they love exploring outdoors or prefer to relax at home, they’ll be treated as one of the family throughout their stay. We know how important it is to leave your dog with someone you trust, so we’ll make sure they’re happy, well cared for, and we’ll keep you updated with regular photos and messages, giving you complete peace of mind while you’re away. My partner, Liam, and I both work full time but have the flexibility of working from home, so there is always someone around to keep your dog company and make sure they’re well looked after throughout the day. We already have an established routine with our cocker spaniel, Arlo. He enjoys a long walk every evening, and any dogs staying with us will join us on our daily walks around the local area. If your dog is used to more frequent, smaller walks, we are happy to be flexible and accommodate this. Throughout the day, we provide plenty of enrichment and activities to keep Arlo mentally stimulated, and we’d love to include your dog too. We can keep our back doors open, giving the dogs free access to our secure garden whenever they want to stretch their legs, play, or relax outside. Your dog will be treated as one of the family, receiving lots of attention, affection, exercise, and companionship while in our care. Our home has a fully fenced, secure garden where dogs can safely play, explore, or relax throughout the day. We’ll follow your dog’s usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding times, walks, sleep routines, and any specific care instructions you provide. If your dog is crate trained and you would like them crated at certain times, we’re happy to accommodate this as part of their normal routine. Your dog will enjoy daily walks in our local area. We would keep your dog on the lead. We are happy to discuss letting them off the lead at secure dog parks if you would prefer this. If your dog requires medication, we’re happy to discuss their individual needs before their stay to make sure we’re the right fit. For added peace of mind, we’re just a short walk from our local veterinary practice should an emergency ever arise. Our priority is to make sure your dog feels happy, comfortable, and loved while you’re away.

I am both glad and relieved that we found Danielle, we were so worried about leaving him with somebody new. We were given constant updates and sent photos of him, clearly enjoying his stay. It made our weekend away so much more relaxing, without the worry of Arthur being safe and happy. He even bonded with her two year old son, who was quite upset when we came to collect him. We will definitely use Danielle again and cannot thank her enough for her care and communication.

I honestly can’t put into words how grateful I am that I found Georgina. We were on a family holiday and discovered last minute that our lodge didn’t allow dogs. Not knowing anyone in the area, I was really upset at the thought of leaving him with a stranger. I messaged Georgina and within minutes she replied — and within the hour, she was there. From the moment we met, she was kind, calm, and incredibly reassuring. She immediately put me at ease. She kept me updated throughout with regular messages and photos, which meant so much, and she even helped with pick-up and drop-off. Thank you so much again, Georgina — you truly made a stressful situation so much easier, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you.

This was our first time leaving our precious fur baby with anyone, so naturally we were worried. We needn’t have been! Yves and her partner were so kind and attentive. We are truly grateful and thankful to them both. We would highly recommend Yves to care for your precious ones.

Our Winston had a fantastic couple of days with Matilda and arrived home thoroughly tired and content after what I think had been lots of walking and playing in the garden with Matilda's own dog and another furry guest. It was our first time leaving him there, so we really appreciated the photos showing him exploring happily on walks in the sunshine. Will absolutely call on Matilda's help again in future as I'm sure Winston will be happy to return for another stay sometime soon. Highly recommended!

FAQs for Dog Boarding - Exeter

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Dog Boarding in Exeter on Rover is £37.95 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Dog Boarding easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Dog Boarding. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 250 sitters on Rover offering Dog Boarding across Exeter. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
