“Loki clearly had an amazing stay with Ela and has come home one very happy boy. We loved the daily pup dates and photos. He was clearly very settled and happy with Ela and enjoyed his adventures with her. 5 ⭐️ and we are looking already at booking his next stay with Ela. Highly recommend.”

About: From the age of 6 my family adopted a dog and I walked and cared for him. Since then I have always loved dogs and their very individual personalities. Every time I visit my father in Spain, I happily am the one who cares for his dog. I am currently looking for work that I can do online, so that when I do have work, I would also be able to be home with the dog. Tuesdays and Wednesdays I usually visit a friend to work on an art project, although should you require a full week of dog sitting, book in advance and I can rearrange this. The dog would have access to a fenced garden. There are a few parks locally where the dog can also relieve themselves and exercise. Dogs being pack animals do love attention and I love to pet.
“Mark took excellent care of Elvis whilst I was away overseas for a trip. Lots of being spoilt (walks and treats and love) for Elvis and lots of pictures and info for me about how he was doing. I came back to a very chilled out dog who didn’t look remotely stressed.”

“Just picked up our two dogs from Robyn they had the most fantastic time from the pictures and videos she sent us couldn’t recommend Robyn highly enough our two are pretty big dogs but she is super confident and so lovely The places she took them for walks looked so nice If you want someone to care for you dogs like you do then 100 per cent recommend Robyn thanks for everything your a star”

About: We absolutely love experiencing and exploring new places with our doggies (as you'll see from the photos). I grew up surrounded by dogs and cats, and my first career was in veterinary nursing, which I practised for five years before welcoming my daughter into the world. Although that was some time ago, my background has given me invaluable experience in animal care, including administering medication, recognising changes in behaviour, and ensuring pets feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I now work in a school, which gives me plenty of availability during school holidays. My husband works from home, so there is usually someone around to provide company, supervision, and plenty of attention throughout the day. Our home is shared with our two friendly and mischievous Mini Goldendoodles, Philip and Wilbur, and our cat, Pumpkin. We offer a warm family environment with a secure walled garden, patio area, and spacious reception rooms with plenty of room for play, relaxation, and the occasional zoomies. We also have two animal-loving children (aged 8 and 11) who enjoy helping to give visiting pets lots of affection and attention. Every dog is different, so walks and activities can be tailored to suit their age, energy level, ability, and individual needs. Whether your pet enjoys long adventures, gentle strolls, playtime, or simply a cosy place to relax, we will do our best to make them feel happy, comfortable, and part of the family while they are with us. I work part-time in a school, which means I have plenty of time available for walks, playtime, and companionship throughout the week and during school holidays. My husband works from home full-time, so there is usually someone around to provide supervision, attention, and plenty of fuss throughout the day. We are fortunate to have access to beautiful local beaches, woodland walks, and open fields, allowing us to tailor each walk to suit your dog's age, energy level, and individual needs. Most dogs can enjoy two walks per day, typically ranging from 40 minutes to an hour, alongside garden time, enrichment, and plenty of cuddles at home. Every dog is different, so their routine can be adapted to ensure they are comfortable, happy, and getting the right amount of exercise and stimulation. Whether your pup enjoys energetic adventures or gentle strolls, we'll make sure they feel right at home with us. On the weekend we love exploring and going for days out as a family, furries and all! We have a fairly big house with lots of space for relaxing, play and zoomies, accompanied by decent sized, grassy garden and patio area. We have plenty of room for your dog to be crated if desired. Our dogs are all friendly and your pet would be treated like one of the family.
“Hayley and family were brilliant with our dog. He had lots of walks and a trip to the beach. Branston went on a pre stay visit and was eager to go again. Photos and updates were sent, showing that Branston’s mischievous side and totally chilled personalities were being displayed, he was obviously himself in their home and care. Lovely family.”

“Nala was treated like a member of the family, with plenty of walks and belly rubs. Claudia kept us updated with pictures and was very understanding when we were late for collection due to heavy traffic. Will.be using again if they are free and highly recommend.”

“Our puppy Teddy has just stayed with Vanessa for 9 nights. We felt Vanessa provided a home from home in a relaxed environment. Vanessa sent regular updates and photos throughout his stay. We are pleased we have found someone we can trust to take good care of Ted. He loved his time there. Thank you so much Vanessa.”

“We are extremely pleased that we found Rhys on Rover. Rhys was very accommodating, helpful and friendly. Rhys sent us photos throughout our Cocker’s stay, and it was clear that our boy felt at home with him. He was well and truly worn out when we picked him up from all the wonderful walks Rhys took him on. We are very grateful to Rhys and certainly be using him again in the future.”

“I had the pleasure of leaving my dog with Jeanette, and it was such a wonderful experience! Right from the start, Jeanette was incredibly warm and welcoming, making both me and my pup feel at ease. It was clear she genuinely loves animals, as she took such great care of my dog and made sure she had lots of fun. When I picked her up, my pup was happy and healthy, and it was obvious she had been well-loved. I can't recommend Jeanette enough for anyone looking for a friendly and caring dog sitter!”

“Bruno always has a lovely stay with Sophie and comes back very happy and relaxed. Sophie always keeps us updated with lots of photos so we know he is having a good time. We have total peace of mind when we are away.”

“Amber had an amazing time staying with Jacqui and Ralph. She went on lots of lovely walks and had a great time playing with the other dogs. I was kept updated everyday with lots of videos and photos. I would highly recommend Jacqui and will definitely be boarding Amber with her again next time we go away.”

“Our Penelope had an absolutely wonderful time with Julie! She’s a rather particular little sighthound, and over the years we’ve found it tricky to find the right person to care for her. From the moment we met Julie, our worries melted away, it was clear she truly understands and loves the breed. We couldn’t be happier, and we’ll definitely be booking again.”

“I was nervous to leave my boy with a dog sitter but I had no reason to worry at all. He has clearly had the best time being looked after by Nicky In her home. Regular updates of how he was getting on, and was great for him to make a new doggy friend too with Nicky’s own dog. I will be in touch next time he (I) need a holiday!!”

I have a safe fenced garden in a quiet area. I am experienced in taking care of many different types of dogs and making sure they are comfortable in my home. I am free mostly on weekends but often I am available during the week/evenings - please contact me if you have any questions at all! “Bridget and fam were wonderful hosts for our puppy (17 months) Angus. He loved playing with their older dog and Bridget clearly took great care of Angus because he slept for a full day after we returned. We are so grateful that we found such a nice family to care for Angus, it made our vacation much more relaxing knowing that he was in great hands.”

About: What sets me apart from other sitters is the level of care and attention I give to every dog as if they were my own. I focus on creating a safe, calm, and loving environment so pets feel comfortable while their owners are away. I’m patient and attentive to each dog’s individual needs, whether that means extra playtime, gentle walks, or quiet companionship. Pet care fits naturally into my daily and weekly routine, as I prioritise consistency, reliability, and flexibility. I structure my schedule to ensure I have dedicated time for walks, feeding, play, and companionship, so pets in my care receive proper attention rather than being squeezed in around other commitments. In both settings, I provide regular updates, photos, and clear communication so you always know how your pet is doing. I’m attentive to behaviour, health, and wellbeing, and I’m happy to accommodate special requirements such as administering medication, caring for senior pets, or supporting basic training routines.
About: I’ve had pets all my life and I just love them. I own a dog and seven cats currently. They are my whole world. I can take your pet for a walk, toilet breaks etc anytime. I will look after your pet as if they were my own. My pets are home with me and my husband too so your pet must like other dogs and cats. Your pets will fit in so well with us and we will love and cherish them whilst they are here. I can provide a safe environment for your pet. I will be happy to give them any medication if needed and lots and lots of love and care throughout the day.

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - Torbay
Ela, as always, was fantastic and so perfect for our pups. We booked to have them spend their lil holiday with her while we were having our wedding (in the heat wave), we always wanted them to be at our wedding but ultimately know that they wouldn’t enjoy it and would be really stressed out. Thankfully Ela literally gave them a 5 star holiday at her amazing place and was so attentive to them during this time and very communicative to us. Ela is the best and will always be the pups second home. We cannot thank you enough Ela ❤️

Tully had a trial night with Susan and next time we went to her house, ran in very happily. She has two lovely dogs herself . Tully stayed a week. We were very happy that he was well looked after. Susan answered all our questions and is clearly very experienced in the care of dogs. A happy home for Tully whilst we were away.

This was a bit of a last minute booking after having been let done by someone else, but what a stroke of luck that was for us, and for Pip. We met with Jeanette and John the week before, and Pip was very well behaved, and they seemed to have no reservations of having him, already set up with a box of toys, water bowls down for him. Jeanette and John were great with Pip and sent us plenty of updates over the few days we were away. Judging by how he looked in those pictures he was having the time of his life, and was totally at ease with them both. I would have absolutely no hesitation in booking with them again. Thank you so much !!

Rhys looked after our cavapoo Bailey while we went away and our experience was 10/10. Rhys is lovely and clearly loves animals. He was communicative and sent us pictures and videos while we were away. We went to Rhys home to introduce Bailey to him and to see where Bailey would be staying and it was clear Rhys' home was comfortable and safe for our dog 😊 we felt happy knowing Bailey was being looked after by Rhys!

Olivia took fantastic care of my Cavapoo last week. He went for walks every day and she really took time to understand his individual needs and character. Olivia sent regular updates and my dog was very happy there. Olivia is reliable, communicates well and is extremely kind. I would highly recommend her.
Betty was clearly very comfortable staying with Georgia and her partner and cats while we were away for the weekend. Georgia sent photos of Betty which were a great reassurance including ones of Betty settled on the sofa and walking in happy tandem with her cat. We will be happy to leave Betty to stay when we next need a local sitter.

Barbara and her family are an amazing bunch and couldn’t be happier with anyone else looking after them during the Christmas holidays. They made Zelda and Cyrus feel like part of the family and always kept me informed and made sure they both had a great time. Thank you for everything lovely x

This was our first time using Rover and Kimberly was absolutely amazing. I felt completely at ease leaving our Billy Boy with her. She sent us photos from his walks, kept us updated, and he came home happily exhausted. When we arrived, both she and her partner brought him to the door, which was such a warm touch. Thank you again! we couldn’t have asked for a better experience!x

Holly had the best time with Stacey and Dave and their family and absolutely loved her new best friend Bertie. We had regular updates while we were away and Holly had a fabulous holiday herself, with trips to the beach and Cockington. She would love to stay again next time we go away 🐾🥰

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
