“Another return to Mark n Donna’s, Freya has had a wonderful time playing with the other fur babies and going for nice walks. Lots of happy videos being sent back to me of Freya’s stay. She has had a total blast.”

“For first time doggy owners, and this being the first time we've had someone look after our puppy, Sophie was amazing! She kept us updated with lots of photos and videos so we knew Tenno was safe and happy, and it was so nice for Tenno to have Beau to play with. It looked like he had a lot of fun, and will definitely want to go back!”

“Rhys looked after our cavapoo Bailey while we went away and our experience was 10/10. Rhys is lovely and clearly loves animals. He was communicative and sent us pictures and videos while we were away. We went to Rhys home to introduce Bailey to him and to see where Bailey would be staying and it was clear Rhys' home was comfortable and safe for our dog 😊 we felt happy knowing Bailey was being looked after by Rhys!”

“Oswald had a lovely time with Harrison and came back very happy! Harrison was very communicative and sent some lovely pictures of Oz which put me at ease. I'll definitely use him again in the future.”

“Loki had his 2nd boarding holiday with Ela and her daughter and he just loves his time with them. They are both huge dog lovers and really enjoy their time with him. It’s so wonderful knowing that we now have Ela to call on to look after our boy when we go on holiday or need day sitting. 5 ⭐️ service and would highly recommend.”

“Amber had an amazing time staying with Jacqui and Ralph. She went on lots of lovely walks and had a great time playing with the other dogs. I was kept updated everyday with lots of videos and photos. I would highly recommend Jacqui and will definitely be boarding Amber with her again next time we go away.”

About: I am self-employed, which gives me a lot of flexibility with my availability and hours. I also have two animal-loving children who are at nursery and school during the day, allowing me plenty of time for feeding visits, companionship, playtime and check-ins 🐱💕 I understand how important it is for pet owners to know their cats are safe, comfortable and well cared for while they are away. I always make sure pets have a calm, clean and secure environment, follow routines carefully, and give them plenty of attention, reassurance and fuss. I am respectful of owners’ homes and will always keep communication open with updates and photos if requested 😊
“Matthew took care of our 10 years old German Pointer for a couple of days. I can only say how happy we are with him as the dog was super happy and calm after staying in his house. Great keeper !”
“Marley has come back super happy from his holiday with Vanessa! So lovely to see how genuinely fond she became of him and the feeling was obviously mutual. Will definately be returning. Thankyou so much Vanessa!”

“I was nervous to leave my boy with a dog sitter but I had no reason to worry at all. He has clearly had the best time being looked after by Nicky In her home. Regular updates of how he was getting on, and was great for him to make a new doggy friend too with Nicky’s own dog. I will be in touch next time he (I) need a holiday!!”

“Abbie was great! Milo definitely seemed to enjoy his stay. Good communication throughout, from booking to meet and greet and then from beginning of Milo’s stay until we collected him. Daily updates and pics were wonderful to have. It was good to know he was in safe hands. Would highly recommend and use again!”

“Three weeks was a long time! Our sweet little Lola is it exceptionally sensitive dog. Bridget and Nic went out of her their way to make Lola comfortable and at home. Before you knew it she was playing with Presley and acting like the house was hers. I can't tell you how comforting it was to know she was in such fabulous hands! Nic and Bridget sent pics and made us feel so happy that we made the choice to leave Lola with them! You guys rock!!!”

“Charlotte was exceptional in her care for Ember. When our travel plans changed, she was flexible to readjust and took such good care of our fluffy labradoodle. We had plenty of photos, videos and updates and Ember slotted straight in to family life and walks with Charlotte’s family and other dogs. We were kept up to date with everything throughout the stay and felt confident in Charlotte’s experience and care for dogs. We would highly recommend booking with her! Ember came back one happy pup!”

About: I've always been a bit dog obsessed from a young age and have had a number of dogs myself, including an English Setter rescue from Croatia who'd never lived in a home before & was anxious around many dogs, excluding my lovely Labradoodle, who was his safety blanket, so a lot of love, patience & training was required to give him his best final years of life. I currently have an extremely friendly & sociable Clumber Spaniel X bitch, 16 months old who loves life & would welcome any dog in her home for a day or sleepover/s. So, recent experience of older dogs who just want comfort, company, cuddles & a short stroll to a manic puppy who didn't have an off switch...which I've since found! I live within walking distance to fields & the coastline & work from home with a secure garden so can offer your dog a little holiday whilst you can enjoy yours guilt free knowing that they are happy too! I currently work part time from home, apart from Thursdays when I volunteer for Animals in Distress for 4hrs, so have plenty of time for walks & play time. I have a fenced in secure garden & have a large crate available for your dog if they feel more secure in a crate and they can enjoy the company of my very well socialised dog Clemmie. Should I ever need to pop out I have a Blink camera so that I can always keep eyes on!

About: Although I don’t have professional pet-sitting experience, I’ve grown up around animals and have my own dog, so I understand how much love, attention and care they need. Because I work away at times, it isn’t practical for me to have more pets of my own, which is why I love having the opportunity to care for other people’s beloved animals when I am home from work. When I’m home from work, I’m home full-time, so your pet will receive plenty of companionship, attention and care throughout the day. Whether it’s walks, drop-in visits, daycare or boarding, I’ll treat your pets as if they were my own, making sure they feel safe, happy and loved while you’re away. I know how important it is to find someone you can trust, so I’ll happily keep you updated with regular photos and messages for complete peace of mind. I love animals of all kinds and would be delighted to meet your furry family members. I can’t wait to give them lots of love, cuddles and attention while you’re away! I work on a rotational schedule, so my availability varies throughout the month. When I’m home, I’m home full time and can provide plenty of attention, walks and companionship. I keep my Rover calendar up to date, so you’ll always be able to see my availability before booking. Your pet’s safety and wellbeing will always be my top priority. I’ll take the time to learn about their routine, personality and any specific needs before their stay, so they can feel as comfortable as possible. I’ll follow your instructions carefully, whether that’s feeding schedules, exercise, medication or favourite routines. My home is calm, clean and pet friendly, with plenty of space for your pet to relax. I’ll provide regular updates and photos throughout their stay, walks or my visits so you can have peace of mind knowing they’re safe, happy and well cared for.
“Hayley and her family were absolutely amazing with Missy and we couldn’t have asked for better care takers for her while we were away. Hayley kept me updated and sent pictures while we were away which gave great peace of mind. Missy was unsettled at times during the stay and Hayley and her husband went above and beyond to settle her and make sure she was happy. We are all so grateful for how well Missy was taken care of and we would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a pet sitter.”

Such a great sitter! Rhys is so flexible and great at replying quickly to make arrangements for our long distance doggy daycare whilst e visited family nearby. Scout seemed at home and well cared for. I’m sure scout will be back again next time we’re down this way

Abbie was great! Milo definitely seemed to enjoy his stay. Good communication throughout, from booking to meet and greet and then from beginning of Milo’s stay until we collected him. Daily updates and pics were wonderful to have. It was good to know he was in safe hands. Would highly recommend and use again!

My Dog had a fantastic time with Robyn, its always nerve racking leaving your dog with someone you don't know but the whole experience was easy, the constant communication made me feel at ease and I have some lovely videos and photos as a keepsake. A big thank you to Robyn, I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great experience for their pooch.

Ria has been amazing. She was able to take out mad dalmation teenager at last minute with no fuss. He was collected and kept in a secure garden and we received photos and update to keep us assured of his well being. We are so grateful for her care and attention and would not hesitate to recommend her. Thank you

Our first time with Vanessa and our shiatzu Scarlet was well looked after and Vanessa provided excellent service. Vanessa was professional at all times and paid great attention to detail and took into account our dogs likes and dislikes. Would thoroughly recommend Vanessa to anyone wanting to leave their dog with an excellent dog sitter. Will not hesitate to use Vanessa again. Thanks Vanessa.
Tully had a trial night with Susan and next time we went to her house, ran in very happily. She has two lovely dogs herself . Tully stayed a week. We were very happy that he was well looked after. Susan answered all our questions and is clearly very experienced in the care of dogs. A happy home for Tully whilst we were away.

Olivia took fantastic care of my Cavapoo last week. He went for walks every day and she really took time to understand his individual needs and character. Olivia sent regular updates and my dog was very happy there. Olivia is reliable, communicates well and is extremely kind. I would highly recommend her.
Betty was clearly very comfortable staying with Georgia and her partner and cats while we were away for the weekend. Georgia sent photos of Betty which were a great reassurance including ones of Betty settled on the sofa and walking in happy tandem with her cat. We will be happy to leave Betty to stay when we next need a local sitter.

Barbara and her family are an amazing bunch and couldn’t be happier with anyone else looking after them during the Christmas holidays. They made Zelda and Cyrus feel like part of the family and always kept me informed and made sure they both had a great time. Thank you for everything lovely x

This was our first time using Rover and Kimberly was absolutely amazing. I felt completely at ease leaving our Billy Boy with her. She sent us photos from his walks, kept us updated, and he came home happily exhausted. When we arrived, both she and her partner brought him to the door, which was such a warm touch. Thank you again! we couldn’t have asked for a better experience!x

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
