Another wonderful experience! We left our Biscuit with Trina for two full weeks and come back to a very happy dog. Trina seemed to have folded her into the family, giving loads of walks, beach visits, and socialization to keep Biscuit engaged and comfortable. Very happy to work with Trina again in the future - thanks again for everything! 🐶

Octavia took wonderful care of Biscuit for 10 days! Many lovely updates with pics and videos of a very happy, well looked-after pup. I don’t think she wanted to come home in the end! It truly felt like Biscuit was welcomed into the family with Octavia and co, and I’m sure we’ll be trusting her to care for Biscuit again in the future. Thanks again for everything! x

Very short notice booking lucky for me Lucy wasn’t booked. We met up to introduce the dog which went well. And both agreed it would be ok. I did have trouble using the rover site to do the booking but Lucy was very helpful. We all went on holiday know the dog was in good hands and Lucy kept in touch with messages and photos which was very good. I would recommend her to all looking for a dog boarder

I was nervous to leave my boy with a dog sitter but I had no reason to worry at all. He has clearly had the best time being looked after by Nicky In her home. Regular updates of how he was getting on, and was great for him to make a new doggy friend too with Nicky’s own dog. I will be in touch next time he (I) need a holiday!!

We booked our dog, Nelly in with Claudia last minute due to being let down. She was really accommodating, making sure she knew everything about Nelly before she arrived. Claudia kept in touch during the whole stay, sending videos, photos and updates. Nelly had a fantastic time and looked like she had a better holiday than we did.

I would highly recommend Ela, we were very nervous as Oakley hasn’t stayed with anyone else before but she made us feel so at ease and made such a fuss of Oakley when we first met. He absolutely loved his time with Ela and we had regular updates about what he was getting up to. I will definitely be booking again!

About: From the age of 6 my family adopted a dog and I walked and cared for him. Since then I have always loved dogs and their very individual personalities. Every time I visit my father in Spain, I happily am the one who cares for his dog. I am currently looking for work that I can do online, so that when I do have work, I would also be able to be home with the dog. Tuesdays and Wednesdays I usually visit a friend to work on an art project, although should you require a full week of dog sitting, book in advance and I can rearrange this. The dog would have access to a fenced garden. There are a few parks locally where the dog can also relieve themselves and exercise. Dogs being pack animals do love attention and I love to pet.

Mark looked after Polo for 10 days while I was on holiday. We arranged a meet and greet beforehand and I knew as soon as I met him my dog would be in good hands. Mark’s love for dogs is obvious and Polo seemed to have a natural affinity with him. Mark’s communication was great, he kept me updated throughout and sent lots of photos of Polo’s adventures. He was also really flexible, which was really appreciated since I had some travel disruption on my way home. Overall Polo had a great time and I would happily leave him with Mark again!

I would give Nikita and her partner more than 5 stars if I could, to evidence how grateful we are for the seriously top notch care they showed our dogs while boarding them. Our dogs were clearly very well cared for, exercised, and given lots of affection which is more than we could have expected as this was their first time with Nikita. As our dogs have never been boarded, we were really nervous about how it would go but we were instantly put at ease when we met Nikita in her home on short notice. It also helps that our dogs took to her immediately, and seemed really happy in her presence. Nikita and her partner boarded our two (rather boisterous) dogs for two days. We were sent regular updates and photos, and Nikita was always responsive when contacted. They were also extremely accommodating when we were delayed in picking our dogs up which was very appreciated. They went out of their way to show our dogs a great time. Nikita was very professional and thorough in her prep, asking us all the relevant and necessary questions which no doubt comes from a place of significant experience caring for animals. Big bonus is Nikita's love for rescue animals! She and her partner are complete naturals and they made us feel like our dogs had a second home when we were away. We will no doubt reach out to her without hesitation the next time we need someone to care for our dogs, and strongly recommend her to anyone else looking for a safe, comfortable boarding experience for their animals. A big thank you to Nikita and her partner!

Bridget and fam were wonderful hosts for our puppy (17 months) Angus. He loved playing with their older dog and Bridget clearly took great care of Angus because he slept for a full day after we returned. We are so grateful that we found such a nice family to care for Angus, it made our vacation much more relaxing knowing that he was in great hands.

Hannah & Jordan took such wonderful care of Woody, he has had a brilliant time with multiple walks per day in different locations, swims, brushes and cozy sofa time and cuddles. We felt really bad that we couldn't bring Woody away with us and were nervous leaving him but Hannah & Jordan sent us lots of photos and messages each day. They were also flexible when we were delayed by an hour. It feels as though Woody has had a holiday and has been so well cared for! We would definitely recommend Hannah & Jordan.

We couldn't have asked for a better dog sitter than Matt! He looked after our dog Nellie for a week, and from start to finish, he was absolutely fantastic. Matt was incredibly patient, kind, and understanding with Nellie, taking the time to make sure she felt comfortable, settled, and happy throughout her stay. It was clear that he genuinely cared about her wellbeing and treated her as if she were his own. One thing we especially appreciated was how regularly Matt kept us updated. He frequently sent us photos and messages, which gave us real peace of mind while we were away. Seeing Nellie happy, relaxed, and enjoying herself made all the difference and allowed us to fully enjoy our trip knowing she was in such good hands. We are so grateful for the care, attention, and dedication Matt showed. Nellie had a wonderful time, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and reliable dog sitter. Thank you, Matt!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in South West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
