Rachel was everything we could have hoped with being a sitter for our cat Sweep. It was our first time having a cat sitter and from the moment of her introductory visit we (myself, my husband and Sweep) were instantly put at ease. She was very engaging with Sweep in a friendly manner and although he is naturally a scaredy cat, we knew he was in good hands. Thank you Rachel ❤️ you’ll define on our books for next time!

About: I offer a calm home where dogs can relax, explore, and feel part of the family. With plenty of outdoor space and access to safe, scenic walking routes, dogs in my care get both physical exercise and a peaceful environment away from busy streets. What sets me apart is the level of individual attention I give to each dog. I keep numbers low so I can stick closely to your dog’s routine, whether that’s regular walks, feeding schedules, or just lots of affection and companionship. I provide daily updates with photos so you can feel confident your dog is happy and well cared for. I’m comfortable caring for dogs of all ages, including energetic puppies who need structure and consistency, as well as older dogs who benefit from a slower pace and extra comfort. I pay close attention to behaviour, body language, and wellbeing to ensure every dog feels safe and settled. My goal is simple: a home-from-home experience where your dog gets fresh air, gentle care, and plenty of love while you’re away. Pet care fits naturally into our daily routine as someone is home most of the time. I’m home throughout the day so dogs are rarely left alone and always have company and supervision. My day is structured around the dogs, with regular walks, feeding times, play, and plenty of downtime. Living in the a stones throw from the countryside means we can offer daily scenic walks and a calm, relaxed environment away from busy roads. I keep a consistent schedule to help dogs feel secure, while also adapting to each dog’s individual needs—whether that’s more exercise (I walk ultra marathons so am used to long walks if needed), quiet time, or extra support for puppies or older dogs. Overall, dogs become part of our home and routine, with plenty of companionship, fresh air, and a safe, peaceful environment. Safety and trust are my top priorities, and I provide a calm, secure, home-from-home environment for every dog. Before each stay, I take time to understand your dog’s routine, preferences, and any specific needs so I can keep their experience as consistent and stress-free as possible. At home, dogs benefit from a fully fenced, secure garden, giving them the freedom to explore, play, and relax safely. They are always supervised, with someone home most of the day, so they’re rarely left alone and always have company. I keep numbers low to ensure each dog gets plenty of individual attention, and I carefully manage introductions to maintain a balanced environment. Dogs are never put in overwhelming situations and always have a comfortable space to rest. Living near the countryside allows for peaceful, controlled walks in a low-traffic setting. Dogs are kept on lead unless otherwise agreed, and their safety is always my priority. I follow feeding routines exactly, can administer medication if needed, and closely monitor each dog’s wellbeing. You’ll receive regular updates and photos for peace of mind. Overall, I offer a safe, secure, and loving environment—with the added benefit of a fenced outdoor space—so your dog can relax, play, and feel completely at home.

About: I have two adopted animals from rescue and one girl I’ve had from a puppy. My eldest has medication and specific washing requirements so I’m used to doing that. I drive so can facilitate vet appointments if needed as required. I work from home, so can work to suit schedules and be near animals as required. I have smaller dogs myself which we can separate if this is something your animal isn’t used to. Having animals myself I understand often complex needs and requirements and can adjust to fit various circumstances as needed. I can familiarise myself with any routine required, and happy to attend beforehand as needed to speak to the owner. I was previously an estate agent, so understand how to lock property safely and take care of the owners space and privacy. I would like to think I am reliable and trustworthy such that it can be one worry less during busy times in your schedule.

Absolutely delighted with the care Sophie gave our cat. In addition to checking food Sophie took the time to play and socialise with her to ensure she was kept happy and healthy. Sophies communication was excellent and she regularly sent updates and photos during each visit to keep us updated. Sophie definitely has experience and a genuine care for animals. I would absolutely recommend Sophie as a capable, trustworthy and caring pet sitter and would not hesitate to contact her again.

About: I've grown up with a variety of pets my whole life and have always been an immense animal lover! Because of this, I am often relied on by friends and family to look after their fur-babies whilst they are away and also have lots of experience house-sitting. I'm at my happiest when I'm around dogs and animals and giving them the love and attention they deserve. I own my own home so I'm therefore very responsible and respectful of whoever's home I'm staying in. I will be sure to follow your instructions regarding pet care and certain things around the house. I currently work full-time Monday to Friday so I would be available to look after your pup(s) from late afternoon on Friday until Sunday evening (or early Monday morning). On some occasions if need be, it may be possible for me to work remotely from your home (if WiFi permits and dependant on your facilities but I would need plenty of notice for this). Over the weekend I will be on hand every couple of hours to give your fur-babies my undivided attention, walkies and play time! I would also be available to pop in for checks and short walks during weekday evenings as well. I have a handsome miniature dachshund who keeps me company while I work from home during the week. I have a fenced and secure garden and have a car seat cover that covers the entire back seat meaning we can go further afield for walks as where we live has lots to offer on our doorstep for a variety of walks and terrain. We tend to go on two walks a day and perhaps a longer, more adventurous one on the weekends.

About: I’ve grown up surrounded by animals from the very start, especially dogs and cats. My dad and stepmum had a busy and loving home with eight dogs—mostly rescues—and five cats, all of different breeds including Staffys, a Lurcher, Bulldog, Jack Russell, Sheepdog, Shar Pei, and a Border Terrier. It was a full house, but it taught me so much about animal care, behaviour, and the unique personalities each pet brings. Although my mum didn’t allow dogs at her house, I begged for years—until one day I was handed a puppy training book after school, and I knew something was up. Sure enough, I got home to meet my very first dog, who’s still going strong at nearly 16 years old. I’ve always had a deep love for animals—more than for people, if I’m honest—and I seem to click with every dog I meet. So you can rest assured your furry family member will be in kind, caring, and capable hands with me. As a dedicated dog sitter, I offer a range of engaging and caring activities to keep your furry friend happy, healthy, and safe while you’re away. I provide regular walks tailored to your dog’s energy level, playtime to keep them mentally and physically stimulated, and plenty of cuddle time for comfort and companionship. I also ensure they stick to their feeding schedule, administer any necessary medications, and can practice basic training commands if requested. Whether it’s a visit to a nearby dog park, a game of fetch in the yard, or simply relaxing together at home, I strive to make sure your dog feels loved and well-cared-for in your absence. I currently work full-time on a rotating shift pattern, but I have the flexibility to adjust my schedule with enough notice. If no changes are needed, my typical rota is as follows: Week 1 – I work 12-hour shifts on Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday, with Wednesday to Friday off. Week 2 – I’m off Monday and Tuesday, and work 12-hour shifts from Wednesday to Friday, with the weekend off. This routine allows for plenty of availability throughout the week, and I’m more than happy to make adjustments where possible to accommodate your pet care needs. I currently live on my own in a small, cosy flat that’s actually joined to my family’s house, so while I have my own space, there’s always someone around nearby. I don’t have any pets living with me at the moment—mine are with my parents—but I truly miss the company of animals. Any dog staying with me would be treated like part of the family and have full freedom to relax and enjoy the space. My flat is pet-friendly, and I live right next to a field, so toilet breaks and walks are quick and easy. Honestly, I think I’d enjoy the companionship just as much as they would!

About: My experience with just dealing with pets is having my own animals from young. I've had fish, hamster, guinea pigs and dogs. My first dog was a rescued Boxer, Ruben. My first proper puppy was a Pug, Dexter, then we rescued Alfie another Pug at the same age as Dexter (around 4yrs.) My house sitting and pet experience was living in an annexe above my landladys garage. She had a working cocker, Zeva. She'd trust me with looking after her house and Zeva while she had to go away for work or on holiday. That was over 2yrs of me living there. I even took Zeva away with my boyfriend and I as we went to Bournemouth for a weekend I was looking after her. We got a pet friendly accomodation and she had the best time on the beach and in the sea playing with her ball. I work 3 days a week, so have plenty of time for sitting and walking pets. I like to walk daily, so dog walking is well suited with my lifestyle. I care for pets in an owners home by communicating with the owners in the first instance to see what responsibilities they expect of their sitter to make sure their animals are in perfect care.

About: I have grown up with dogs, hamsters, rabbits and cats. I have a dog of my own, a German Shepard x Doberman, I've had her since a 7 week old puppy. We love going out for long walks and being social in the dog park. I have good experience with big dogs, and highly active dogs, as my family dog was a border collie who didn't ever want to stop.

Alongside this I love all other animals, my sisters always had a wide range of reptiles and I've enjoyed meeting and greeting her latest addition. I feel like as long as I'm with any type of animal I'm happy, if that's long dog walks outside or just a bit of attention on the sofa. All animals deserve to be treated like family and I can assure you, if you chose me to help out with your pet, I'll treat it like my own and with love and care I love spending time with my dog, going for dog walks and being outside, I enjoy socialising with other pet owners and getting to know new animals. Your pet will be well looked after and have lots of attention and play when with me. I have a fenced off garden where my dog and your pet will be let outside, I take them for a morning walk, and evening walk, and they are let outside multiple times throughout the day. They get lots of cuddles and care. My dog gets fed in the morning and the evening, and a few treats whilst out on the walks.

About: As an avid animal lover with a diverse range of caregiving experience, I've had the privilege of caring for creatures big and small, from tiny rodents to majestic horses. Recognizing that your pets are more than just animals—they're cherished members of your family—I prioritize building a deep level of trust. I stand out as a sitter due to my commitment to open and transparent communication. I understand that entrusting someone with the care of your fur babies requires confidence and reassurance. I make it a priority to keep you informed about your pets' well-being, routines, and any special needs they may have. In addition to my passion for general pet care, I bring specific skills to the table, such as the ability to train puppies and provide dedicated senior care. Whether it's guiding a young pup through essential training or offering gentle support and attention to your older pets, I am equipped to meet a variety of needs. Your peace of mind is my utmost priority, and I am dedicated to making the entire process as seamless as possible for you. I approach pet sitting not just as a responsibility but as an opportunity to create a positive and enjoyable experience for both you and your beloved animals. Pet care is seamlessly integrated into the fabric of my daily and weekly routine, as I am currently dedicating 100% of my time to being at home. My life revolves around the well-being of my beloved fur babies, and I take pride in providing them with the utmost care and attention. To further underscore my commitment to pet care, I have undertaken first aid courses and earned a diploma in animal care. These qualifications not only enhance my confidence but also ensure that I am well-prepared to handle any situation that may arise, prioritizing the safety and health of your pets. Being at home full-time allows me to maintain a consistent and attentive presence for your animals. From regular dog walks to creating a nurturing environment, I am dedicated to meeting the unique needs of each pet under my care. In essence, pet care isn't just a task for me; it's a passion and a priority that I integrate seamlessly into my daily life. Your fur babies will receive the attention, love, and expertise they deserve, creating a comfortable and enjoyable experience for them in my care. In caring for pets, I prioritize creating a comfortable and secure environment tailored to their needs, whether it's in my home or the pet owner's residence. If preferred, I have two crates available, ensuring a cozy and familiar space for those who feel more secure in enclosed areas. However, I'm equally delighted to provide a 'roam free' experience within my home, allowing pets to explore and feel at ease. To accommodate various comfort levels, especially for pets who may not be confident with stairs, I've installed a gate to ensure their safety. Additionally, my fenced-in garden, featuring a mix of concrete and green spaces, offers a secure outdoor area for play and relaxation. For those who enjoy longer walks and more open spaces, there are local fields nearby where we can enjoy outdoor activities and exercise. My approach is flexible, adapting to the unique preferences and needs of each pet. Whether it's creating a secure, designated space or allowing them to explore freely, my goal is to provide a nurturing and enjoyable environment for pets under my care.

About: Although I am at the beginning of my professional pet sitting journey, I have always loved animals and have cared for pets belonging to friends and family. Being around animals feels natural to me, and I am patient, calm, and attentive to their needs.

I have experience looking after both cats and dogs, including feeding them according to their routine, refreshing water, cleaning litter boxes, taking dogs on walks, and giving them plenty of playtime and affection. With shy pets, I give them space and allow them to approach me at their own pace so they feel safe and comfortable. With energetic pets, I make sure they get enough exercise and engaging play to keep them happy and relaxed.

During walks, I stay alert and prioritize safety at all times. For home visits, I ensure your pet receives attention, care, and companionship; not just basic feeding. I can also follow specific instructions carefully, including dietary needs or simple medication if required.

I only accept vaccinated pets to maintain a healthy environment. My goal is to make your pet feel secure and loved while giving you peace of mind. We could chat and arrange a suitable time as I my schedule is fixable so it is adjustable after having a chat ! It won’t be hard for me to arrange something ! I am going to provide this in good detail after my account gets approved!! Although some of the things I provide while looking after pets is every 2 hour video updates day time amd I will provide any specific care the pets need !

We were so pleased that we found Sarah to drop in on Poppy, our little working cocker spaniel. Sarah came to see us the evening before, to meet Poppy and discuss the arrangements, and then fed and walked Poppy during the drop ins while we were at our son's wedding. She sent us some lovely photos of Poppy and details of the visits. It gave us such piece of mind, particularly as Poppy hasn't been well. Poppy was very settled and content when we returned. I can heartily recommend Sarah, and, if we lived closer, we would be more than happy to use her services again.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in South Hams choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a key safe. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalised codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in a flat, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or lift etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s booking protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
